Servant or Self-Serving by Angeline Lawrence Today I want to pose a question to the women (and men) of faith that are in the trenches for Christ. Do you need a title and/or acknowledgement from others to fulfill the ministry God has placed in your life? I must confess that for years I hesitated to work in my ministry because I believed I needed a formal title. I was given a wakeup call by God one day that changed my life. He let me know, through the Holy Spirit, that I did not need title. I only needed him. Jesus, again, serves as the high standard of faith. He was consumed with completing the mission of God, but did it with humility. Listen in as I discuss Philippians 2:7 regarding the way we should serve God. Are we his servants or are we just self-serving? Thanks again for listening. Start today by subscribing to the podcast here. Watching Over the Vision By: Angeline Lawrence The job of a visionary does not end with simply writing down the plan. The hard part is getting a great team to help execute it. We can learn how to watch over the vision from some of the great leaders mentioned in the Word of God. One of the most renowned female leaders of Israel was Deborah, a powerful woman of God that was a judge over the people of Israel. Deborah charged Barak to fulfill the order given by God to lead an army of men to attack the nation’s enemy. He responded in Judges 4:8, “Barak said to her, “If you go with me, I will go; but if you don’t go with me, I won’t go.” The most talented people on a team will still need the support of their leaders to get the job done. In addition, God watches over every word he speaks to man as stated in Jeremiah 1:12. He positions his spirit-filled leaders to execute his vision and intercede on his behalf. Leadership under Pressure By: Angeline Lawrence Leadership always comes with a price. Many of us will face adversity as we seek to lead others in the right path. However, our position as leaders is a great opportunity for us to glorify God. We must remember to exude confidence and integrity when we are under pressure. Listen in today as I discuss the steps to be a leader under pressure. God is our secret weapon and if we stand on his promises, then he will work on our behalf every time. Psalms 37:7 states, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”(NIV) God makes the final decision, so if he elevates us, then he will watch over us and help us win. Change Your Mindset By: Angeline Lawrence Our mindset determines our success in walking with Christ. If we allow a negative and self-willed mindset to determine our actions then we are in serious trouble. Obtaining the mind of Christ is not a task, but a process. Love Your Enemiesby: Angeline Lawrence, Host Being on the receiving end of taunts and bullying can be detrimental to our physical, mental and spiritual well-being. As Christians, many of us were not built to give great comebacks when insulted. Christ taught his disciples to love everyone, especially their enemies because he held them to a higher standard of righteousness. Matthew 5:44 states, “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” (NIV) Christ taught them that true faith in God was more than the observance of laws and ordinances. Christ emphasized the importance of displaying the same characteristics of compassion, equity and virtue as the Creator. The ability to pray for individuals who work against us embodies great strength and righteousness. Our Creator bestows His love and blessings upon everyone, even individuals that do not obey His Word. We must learn to love the people that hate us. In honor of one of the greatest civil rights leaders in the history of America, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stated, “Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.” Thanks again for joining me on the Shine and Grind Show. My Sister's KeeperAngeline Lawrence, HostMany of us have fallen short in some area of our life as Christians. Christ was adamant that we not judge others. Matthew 7:1 states, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.” (NIV) Rather, we should restore our sisters in the faith who have made mistakes, than ostracize them. Believers in the New Testament church were taught to help those that were weaker in the faith than they were. Of course we must discern the situation and use wisdom. While some individuals are remorseful and want to rebuild their faith, there are others that are the opposite. Today, I will talk about ways to help individuals that have failed in their walk of faith, but need help to overcome. (Galatians 6:1) As members of the Kingdom of God who are strong, it is our duty to help restore them with love and gentleness. Romans 15:1 states, “We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.” (NIV) Thanks again for joining me on the Shine and Grind Show. Rejecting Disruptive Peopleby: Angeline Lawrence, HostWalking with God can be a lonely path at times. I know God will never leave us, but having a brother/sister in the faith we can relate to is priceless. Occasionally, we will connect to other believers that seem to be our friends, but in reality they are more like “Frenemies” who seek to gossip about us. Today, I want to talk about rejecting individuals that are self-serving trouble makers. We can all identify with the “busy body,” who will chase the sincere believers away because of the confusion they cause. II Thessalonians 3:6 states, “In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.” (NIV) Oftentimes, letting go of close relationships can be difficult. Especially when it is a person that you consider to be a friend. However, it is important to stay clear of individuals who keep up confusion. They are not about working on our Father’s business because they are prying in the business of others. Thanks again for joining me on the Shine and Grind Show. Overcoming FearAngeline Lawrence, Host In past episodes, I discussed the love God has for us. If that love is strong and without any fear, then we are unstoppable. Fear is defined as an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger. It does not have to be an actual threat, but our anticipation of a threat. Fear can paralyze us and hinder our faith walk. We must overcome the fear to show that we’ll obey the voice of God regardless of the situation. Ultimately, our love for God is shown through obedience to Him. Yes, we may naturally have concerns when God is taking us through an experience in our lives that is new. Yet, we must obey his Word and follow his voice so that our love is perfect. I John 4:18 “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” (NIV) Listen in as I discuss overcoming fear. Thanks again for joining me and Happy New Year. The Gift that Keeps GivingBy: Angeline LawrenceIt's that time of year and everyone is busy making their holiday plans. However, let's pause to remember the true meaning of this holiday season. The salvation of Christ is a gift to mankind from God. Our access to that gift begins with the Holy Spirit. Once we have received the gift, we are endowed with supernatural abilities, such as healing, prophecy, and faith to name a few.On the other hand, I Corinthians 13:2 states, “If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.”(NIV)If we operate in our gifts without manifesting the love of God, we are just noise makers (I Corinthians 13:1). Seeking to bear the fruit of the Spirit will magnify our gifts and enable us to be acceptable in the sight of God. Jesus taught his disciples in John 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” (KJV) The gifts of the spirit are diverse but the true blessing is in the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 states, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”(KJV)As we reflect on this year let us consider the fruit of the Spirit that is produced through our lives as Christians. I Corinthians 13:3 states, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”Thank you again for joining me. No Greater LoveBy: Angeline Lawrence Christ showed us His love with the personal sacrifice He made on Calvary. John 15:13 states, “Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.”(KJV) However, the love of Christ did not end with that act. He continues to love us on an intimate basis. Today, on this day of Thanksgiving, I want to discuss the intimacy that we can enjoy with Christ. The Songs of Solomon 7:9 states, “And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak.” The Song of Solomon chronicles the love of King Solomon and the Shulamite girl (His Bride), but it also represents the love Christ has for His Bride, the Body of Christ (the Church). His Holy Spirit is finer than the best wine. Once we receive the Spirit of Truth, we are renewed and can fellowship with Christ. Thank you again for joining me. Abiding in God’s Love By: Angeline Lawrence So many of us believe that we are not worthy of God’s love. Walking with God By: Angeline Lawrence Listening and talking to God can be comforting in our time of need. However, walking with God will transform our lives. Psalms 23 is a familiar passage that many of us learned as a child. However, the author provides a playbook of how we should walk with God as mature Christians regardless of the conditions we encounter. How to Talk with God - by Angeline Lawrence Our communication with God does not have to be formal. However, we must know how to effectively talk with God to get the help we need. Hebrews 4:6 states, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of Grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (KJV) I’ve learned the hard way that the wish list prayer does not work. However, I will discuss five (5) steps to help you talk with God and move him to respond. How to Get a Return on Your Hard Work By: Angeline Lawrence The principal of sowing and reaping is a natural miracle in agriculture that can be applied to our everyday lives. It’s also a biblical principle that if we do good deeds for others, then we will receive a benefit from our work within a certain time frame. The Bible states in Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;”(KJV) We must seek God about our seasons to sow and be diligent to perform the tasks and activities that will position us to benefit from our hard work. Comfort can be found in Galatians 6:9, which states, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Tune in while I discuss the concept of a Return on Sowing. Great Leaders Plan to Win Psalms 127:1a states, “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it:..” We can build our dreams according to a plan, but it must align with God’s plan for our lives. Wooden of University of California Los Angeles, explained the importance of planning according to God’s plan for us in his book, “Coach Wooden’s Pyramid of Success Playbook,” co-authored by Jay Carty. Four Steps to Receiving a Miracle by: Angeline Lawrence Trust is a common thread that connects people and enables successful relationships. Reliability is the key factor to gaining someone’s trust. Our relationship with God must be built on the fact that we trust him. We must know that God is reliable and he’ll perform his word in our lives according to our faith. Today, I talk about Trust and how to see the manifestation of a miracle in our everyday lives. Proverbs 14:12 states, “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” (NIV) We have to trust in the divine plan God has created for us instead of following a plan of our own. Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the plans I have for your,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV) We are glad you joined us today. Over 65 million Americans are impacted my bullying in the workplace. According to the Workplace Bullying Institute (WBI) 60% of targets are women. The WBI defines workplace bullying as repeated mistreatment and abusive conduct, which includes threatening, intimidating, humiliating, work sabotage and verbal abuse. As a former target of bullying I endured strategic sabotage and undermining on projects. At times I was alienated because I refused to succomb to the school yard tactics of co-workers. However, I sought the help of God and was able to develop winning strategies to overcome the bullying. Isaiah 59:19b states, "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him." (KJV)As Christian women, we have the tools to overcome the devices of the enemy who does his bidding through others. Ephesians 6:12 states, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickness in high places."
