Ruth is a book, like Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, and Daniel. It's a story stuffed full of tragedy, turmoil, heartache, and God's redemption. It's been given to us as a gift, helping us conform to Jesus’ way and character. While the book is spiritually formative in many ways, it emphasizes a theme that we see play […]

Explore the profound meaning behind Christmas and its deep connections to God's divine plan for Christmas. Christmas is more than just a festive season; it is a narrative of God's intentional choices as beautifully illustrated in Matthew 2. The birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, the house of bread, points to the bread of life arriving in a place destined for praise. • The journey of the wise men from the east reminds us of the perseverance and faith we should have when seeking Jesus. • The genealogy and prophecies in Matthew show that Jesus' birth was a meticulously planned event, fulfilling God's promises. • Locations like Nazareth and Bethlehem are integral to the story, while the role of shepherds, symbolism of the manger, and swaddling clothes all highlight the fulfillment of prophecies. As we celebrate Christmas, let's reflect on these intentional choices and embrace the true meaning of the season in our lives, trusting in God's divine plan. Listen now to understand how these elements bring comfort and trust in God's timing and plan for our lives.
The text explores the multifaceted significance of Bethlehem's name, "House of Bread," within a first-century Aramaic context. It examines the linguistic roots of the name, highlighting the symbolic importance of bread in Aramaic culture as representing sustenance and divine provision. The text then connects this symbolism to Jesus's identity as the "Bread of Life," emphasizing the theological implications of his birth in Bethlehem. Further, it explores the cultural and agricultural context of Bethlehem, linking its identity as a place of provision to its role in Messianic prophecy. Finally, the text examines the enduring legacy of this symbolism in early Syriac Christianity, showcasing its influence on theological reflection and liturgical practices. From the book of Ruth
On Sunday we looked at Ruth 1 as we began our Advent series together. The first chapter of this book begins with much sorrow, but ending with a glimpse of hope. Perhaps that hope will grow as we continue on with the book together? -Sermon from 12/01/2024

The Lord is kind. He does not forget, but redeems what has been lost. In this opener to the book of Ruth, we witness God working in spite of the bad decisions of men and the rebellion of his people to accomplish the impossible.

Char and Michelle are two bakers at McKinney House of Bread. I chose to interview them because they are both had no formal baking education or commercial baking experience and are yet, excellent high-volume bakers. Both came from different prior professions but were passionate about their home baking and wanted to take it to the next level. Maybe you could too, and we are hiring! Geting Back To The House Of Bread - Ruth 1 - Andrew Elliott
with Pastor Micheal Oxentenko
This week Mike and Sarah spend time talking with author Andrew Wilson about his new book, The Boy from the House of Bread. With lyrical rhyme and quirky illustrations, The Boy from the House of Bread shares the story of Jesus' ministry in a compelling way, through the eyes and voice of an African boy. Walk with Alex through his bustling first-century world as he watches Jesus multiply bread and hears Him tell stories about loaves and call Himself the life-giving Bread. This recurring symbol fascinates both Alex and the reader, leaving children ages 4 to 8 (and the adults who read with them) thinking differently about not only the bread on their plates but the Man who makes miracles happen. Andrew Wilson is the teaching pastor at King's Church London and the author of Sophie and the Heidelberg Cat. He has three children named Zeke, Anna, and Sam, and he has written a number of other books—but none of them have pictures.
