Between 2 Butts: The Podcast That Lets Nothing Slip Between The Cracks
Our sweet 16th episode starts with vindictive cats, Tice not doing yoga, another Jay dream that includes everybody but Tice, and the question of how much to clean your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. And that´s only the intro! In tribute to Alex Trebek, Tice decides to carry on with game-show-themed segments, thus establishing GameShowVember. We remember Alex Trebek, his many game shows and his many mustaches. Becca keeps the mood nerdy with a rundown of her favorite and least favorite Fan Fiction tropes, including Mary Sues, One-Beds, Slow Burns, and Twin-cest. Jay brings us back to Cool Town with an ode to A Capella, including sharing two songs he turns to when he needs a little self-reflection. Tice reaches a breaking point as the episode runs further and further over-time!Finally, because Jay is thirsty for Yuletide cheer, we play a sexy-Christmas themed Would You Rather? Give us a listen: You´ll laugh so hard, you´ll get Krampus! Links for you!:Alex Trebek´s response to decades of parodies.A more challenging watch for some: A 1983 gameshow pilot where Trebek shared hosting duties with a little animated troll-man on a monitor. It was called Malcolm. JL8, the tween superhero comic strip Jay mentions.
Hosts Matt Avery and John Kraman are saddling up in this On The Move to focus on motorcycles. But before they get to the two-wheeled talk, there’s a bit of car news to touch on. A new Mecum Magazine has hit the digital newsstands, and the guys take time to share what they penned in the latest issue. John’s "At the Redline" column goes into the social aspect of automotive events and gatherings, as well as the special way relationships develop through a love of transportation. Meanwhile, Matt’s "Free Revs" feature spotlights a rare bird coming to the Mecum Las Vegas auction: a 2002 Year One Edition Blackbird Trans Am that is just one of eight created. Speaking of Sin City, John just returned from a trip out there, where he took part in a television taping for a special "Mecum Presents" focusing on a pair of standout Shelby vehicles. John recaps how it went, including what it was like to hear from Peter Brock, Carroll Shelby’s first employee, and Brock's memories of Shelby operations back in the day. Though, the fun didn’t stop there for John, who had the chance to visit Shelby American’s nearby headquarters and see one of its latest creations: the F150 Super Snake Sport. Top versions of the ultra-hot hauler boast 770 HP and a $93,385 price tag. Matt has truck news, too, sharing how Ford will be offering a Tremor off-road package on the Ranger pickup truck for 2021. The package costs $4,290 and brings upgrades like a lifted suspension, bigger wheels and tires, and skid plates. No adjustments are made to the powertrain, causing the guys to revisit a familiar question: will the forthcoming Bronco get bigger power in the form of a V-8? Wrapping up the car news, Matt tells of Maserati’s new MC20. The two-seat Italian exotic boasts a twin-turbo V-6, 630 HP and a claimed zero to 62 MPH time of 2.9 seconds. From there, the crew gears up for a discussion on motorcycles, with Mecum Auction’s Motorcycle Auction Manager Greg Arnold in the studio. The "Spokes Man" fills in Matt and John on how the division has grown and how things are gearing up for the 30th Annual Vintage and Antique Motorcycle Auction slated for January 26-31 in Las Vegas. Greg also takes time to shine the spotlight on one of the show's stars, a 1950 Vincent Black Lightning that is expected to bring a half-million dollars when it crosses the auction block. Wrapping up the show, it’s time for another On the Move Vehicle Profile, with Matt and John taking a close look at the first-generation Camaro produced from 1967 through 1969. The guys discuss the car’s development, the strategy employed by Chevrolet to get it out into the marketplace, some of the famous performance variants, including the legendary Z28, and various options like RPO L89 and JL8.
I got the opportunity to interview Yale Stewart, a graduate of SCAD and creator of JL8. This is a webcomic about the JLA as eight year olds in Elementary School. We talk geek and art inspiration. We also talk about his untitled creator owned project. Come on in and join the conversation. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Sitting around the Hero Complex, JD and Len review Brandon's overview of the slate of HBO Max shows including the new Green Lantern series by Greg Berlanti and they pitch their own take for the show. Supergirl's Superman doesn't measure up. Joe Hil does Horror comics. JL8 is a thing. And there's a word from their sponsor.

The boys of Geek at Arms return for another brand new episode! In Geek Out Mike describes much fun he and Bryan had as guests on the fantastic podcast Saving the Game, and how much he's enjoyed the recent Amazon series (or was it Netflix) Good Omens. Next, James cannot say enough good things about Godzilla: King of the Monsters. He also talks about taking his family to a local fan convention ArlingCon and how much he's enjoyed watching My Hero Academia. Bryan relates how much he's enjoyed the return of JL8, a webcomic by Yale Stewart, fighting Darth Vader and evil cubes with a lightsaber on the Oculus Rift, and the start of a new RPG session of the game Primetime Adventures! Finally, the Fantasy Film Club comes to a close with a review of the 1985 medieval fantasy Ladyhawke, starring Rutger Hauer, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Matthew Broderick.
Episode 18 - Universal Viewpoints Pt 2 - Marvel and DC After warming up with our lighthearted Pixar/Dreamworks discussion, EJ Pennyman and Ryan Dalton are rejoined by guest Justin from Cleveland to compare and contrast the universal tone and viewpoint of Marvel and DC comics, movies, and TV series. A good starting point for Marvel comics is the 2015 reboot. They pretty much restarted all franchises around that time. If you've seen the movies, this will be a comfortable place without re-doing origin stories. Also, check out the new Ms. Marvel (the kid) it's pretty good. As for DC, start with the 90's cartoons for Batman and Superman. If you insist on a comic for Batman, start with Under the Red Hood. After that, check out Hush. You Supes fans want to start with Superman for All Seasons by Jeph Loeb and Superman: Last Son of Krypton. Also good is the recent Flash TV series. Somehow we went through this entire podcast without me mentioning Justice League Age 8 (JL8) by Yale Stewart. It's exactly what it sounds, the Justice League at age 8. It's fun, it's free and it has the DC guys. We have a little more stretching room in the Comic Book Bears Den in this episode as our brother Bryan was unable to join us for this 2012 wrap-up episode. Billy Z and Justin talk about their fave raves of the year in this admittedly somewhat somber episode. See you in 2013!
