This episode originally aired in July 2022 as part of Cultivate Season 1. We're looking forward to sharing this eye-opening, important conversation with you again this summer, to encourage strong, Godly influence and relationships with your older children. We invite author, pastor, and speaker Dr. Tedd Tripp to talk with our host Ty Fischer about how Christian parents can relate with their older children and teens. Ted's well-known book, Shepherding a Child's Heart, is often remembered for its call on parents to establish Godly, firm but loving authority with their young children, but the second part of the book covers how that relationship changes as our children mature. Ted encourages parents with older children on how to relate with their teenage kids in a way that invites influence over their lives, rather than heavy handed authority, and offers hope for those who worry they've blown it already (hint: it's not too late). As a local church grows in size, it can become increasingly difficult to actually know everyone in the community and, thus, to be blessed by everyone in the community. This is unfortunate because there are no unnecessary members (1 Corinthians 12:7), none who are ungifted (Romans 12:6), and not one who isn't called to the "work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ" unto spiritual maturity (Ephesians 4:11–13). Said another way, we need one another as Spirit-indwelled conduits of God's grace to propel us toward holiness and, when unable to be around one another and to know one another, this process is hindered. With that in mind, we're going to try and "shrink the church" a bit today and, hopefully, provide an opportunity for one particular Oakridge family member to "build up the body of Christ" from afar. On this episode, Andrew chats with Brett Harris about his walk with Christ, the greatest struggles in his Christian life, lessons he's learned along the way, and much more.

It's the first Q&A episode of the 2023 season! I tackle a wide range of over a dozen questions in this episode, ranging from big questions about recent A's draft classes, the upcoming Rule 5/40-man picture, and areas to emphasize in future trades, to the specifics of players like Brett Harris, Darell Hernaiz, Luis Medina, and Cody Thomas. As usual, I bring in as much data and dimensions as I can to give the clearest possible picture of each of these areas of uncertainty.

"I want to be a voice to educate people who want to get into this industry." Brett Harris is dynamic. And we need dynamic leadership in life-- especially where a message must be accurately communicated. Brett has represented the real estate side of the hemp business and through that journey he has become the voice in Kansas for practical hemp legislation. Kansas lags in this and it is putting us at a disadvantage to other State that have sound policy around the hemp industry. States are benefiting from the relationship between the hemp industry and the additional revenue collected--allowing States to elevate services for its citizens as a result. It takes courage to be an entrepreneur. It takes further courage to take a stand supporting Free Market policies. Thank you for your courage Brett. HempFest is Saturday January 28th in downtown Wichita. Participate, educate yourself and increase your ability to live a calm healthy life.
