When the film first came out, Nostalgia Critic liked it but didn't love it. Is it possible he might have missed something the first time around? Let's take another look at Logan. Logan is a 2017 American superhero film starring Hugh Jackman as the titular character. It is the tenth film in the X-Men film series, the third and final installment in the Wolverine trilogy, following X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and The Wolverine (2013), and a standalone sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). The film, which takes inspiration from the "Old Man Logan" comics storyline by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven, follows an aged Wolverine and an extremely ill Charles Xavier who must defend a young mutant named Laura from the Reavers led by Donald Pierce and Zander Rice. The film is produced by 20th Century Fox, Marvel Entertainment, TSG Entertainment and The Donners' Company, and distributed by 20th Century Fox. It is directed by James Mangold, who co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Green and Scott Frank from a story by Mangold. In addition to Jackman, the film also stars Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, and introduces Dafne Keen in her film debut as Laura. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Old Man Logan is an alternative version of the fictional character Wolverine appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. This character is an aged version of Wolverine set in an alternate future universe designated Earth-807128, where the supervillains overthrew the superheroes. Introduced as a self-contained story arc within the Wolverine ongoing series by writer Mark Millar and artist Steve McNiven, the character became popular with fans. After the death of Wolverine, Laura Kinney took the Wolverine mantle but an Old Man Logan from the similar Earth-21923 was brought in to serve as an X-Man and featured in his own ongoing series. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rangerryan/message

The third month of the year is named after the Roman God of War Mars, so join Mike as he leans into the month by marching himself down to the Gulf Coast. Join Mike as he ventures south to Sweet Home Alabama for a family vacation and of course, a trip to a local comic shop in Foley, AL! Serendipity abounded as it turned out Mike's co-host Scott on the Campus Comics Cast was also on his own family vacation in Gulf Shores, so he joined Mike for the interview at Covert Comics and Collectibles. In fact, this shop was Scott's suggestion because he has been going to Covert Comics for years when he comes here for vacation. Covert Comics and Collectibles is right on the main drag in Foley, and despite its name, it's easy to find. It has so much to offer...new and old comic books, Sports Cards and Memorabilia, Trading Cards, Statues, Video Games, DandD, Vinyl Records, Funko Pops, and Vintage Toys. And with 5000 square feet of space, it's very roomy and fun to explore. The owner, Jason, had a level of enthusiasm that was palpable. He and his staff are super-friendly! This history of Covert Comics is very interesting so buckle down for a great ride! And the next time you take trip to Gulf Shores, AL, skip a couple of hours at the beach and treat yourself to this fantastic comic shop, Covert Comics and Collectibles! Then join Mike and fellow comics fan, and podcaster, Paul Hix, as they review the trade collection of Wolverine Vol. 3 issues 66-72 plus Wolverine: Old Man Logan Giant-Size 1. Paul is 50% of the genius behind the Waiting for Doom podcast and several other shows. This is an 8 part story with the original issues coming out in 2008 and 2009. It was written by Mark Millar, with pencils by Steve McNiven, and inks by Dexter Vines, Mark Morales, and Jay Leisten. You can find Covert Comics and Collectibles at 107 South McKenzie St., Foley, AL 36535, (251)377-9690, online at covertcomics.com, and on social media at https://www.facebook.com/covertcomicsfoley, and email at jason@foleycomics.com. Thanks to Paul for his help in reviewing Old Man Logan. Find Mr. Paul Hix and his various podcasts along with Mike Garvey, at https://www.waitingfordoom.com/ and anywhere you get your podcasts. NRC host, Eric Brown, kicks off the year with NEMESIS RELOADED #1 by Mark Millar and Jorge Jimenez! MINISERIES PREMIERE! The world's most evil comic book is back! Who is Nemesis, and why does this eccentric billionaire who dresses up in a mask and cape want to terrorize people instead of helping them? Isn't that how this is supposed to go? Trigger warning: Too violent and too cool for some! INTRODUCTION BY MARK MILLAR It feels weird to reboot one of your own projects, but kind of nice too. Historicall, pop culture icons get a facelift every fifteen ears or so as the Tim Burton era Batman gets replaced by Chris Nolan's Dark Knight or Daniel Craig makes way for Henry Cavill or the mighty Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Politics tends to move in these big ten-to-fifteen-year swings too, as the White House turns red or blue for half a generation, and comics likewise ebb and flow with new takes on old ideas. Nemesis was a book I created with the brilliant Canadian artist Steve McNiven. All my favorite Americans turn out to be Canadian and Steve is no exception! We brought this book out thirteen ears ago, right in the middle of Kick-Ass mania, and it sold GANG-BUSTERS. It was only four issues long, but I think I've signed as many of these as I've signed mv other evergreens like Old Man Logan, Kick-Ass, Superman: Red Son and Civil War. You can watch fan films online and if vou do a Google, you'll see homemade toys guys have beautifully painted and splattered with fake blood. 20th Century Fox bought the movie rights, first for the legendary Tony Scott and then for the great Joe Carnahan. Once those lapsed it was snapped up by Warner Brothers and it's been written and rewritten over there for years. What's the fascination with this project? How did Steve and I make more monev from this concept than we did from even Civil War, Marvel's biggest selling graphic novel of all time? It was literally just four issues. There's also so man things I'd do differently now, and this is the curse of being a published writer. Once vour project is out there, there's nothing you can do, right? Well, that's the beauty of the soft reboot. Superman was very different by the mid 50s than his Golden Age roots, that new take on the character flipped again in 1971 and John Byrne's revamp in 1986. This was my chance to bring Nemesis into a new age and tweak the origin, so I had more room to play than the original four issues, and also integrate him into this Millarworld universe we've put together, leading directly into the huge series we're doing in July. Big Game is where every one of our characters cross over in a spectacular summer event drawn by Marvel refugee Pepe Larraz. It's going to be spectacular, and I couldn't miss a chance to do the most perfect version of this concept I love and have the character interacting with all my other favorites. The whole experience has been incredibly satisfying, and I couldn't have asked for a better partner than DC's greatest artist; the brilliant, brilliant Jorge Jimenez. So, enjoy NEMESIS RELOADED and wait until you see where this book, Night Club, The Magic Order Volume 4 and our new The Ambassadors take vou. I promise it's going to be the best money you've ever slipped me. Cheers for now, MARK MILLAR

Are we changing our name to LL Comics and Chronic? Did Anthony forget to invite Jake and Cody to his birthday party? Is Cody more like Doomsday or more like Old Man Logan? What if Goofy was Old Man Logan aka Old Man Goof? Would that make Mickey Mouse the Red Skull? Was 2008 the era of the edgelord? What would happen if the Absorbing Man absorbed all of Florida? Would Galactus be poisoned if he tried to eat Florida? What's the better Tom Cruise movie: Edge of Tomorrow or War of the Worlds? Is Cody bad at video games? What happened when someone robbed all of Anthony's Game Boy Advance games in middle school? Is Logan, West Virginia named after The Wolverine? Would Chris Benoit have made a good Wolverine? Would Brock Lesnar make a good Rhino? Should Paul Giamatti play President Red Skull? What is Dafoe Dong? Is Old Man Hawkeye more fuckable than Old Man Logan? Is Stephen Lang an all-purpose old man tough guy? Was Mysterio too OP in this story? Would Liev Schreiber make a good Ben Grimm aka The Thing in a Fantastic Four movie? Mike embarks on the first 5 issues of the War Of The Bounty Hunters 34-issue crossover event, which this month form “the prelude”! This story takes place just after Empire Strikes Back; carbonite-frozen Han Solo is stolen from Boba Fett on his way to collecting the bounty from Jabba The Hutt and now the whole galaxy is after Solo, including Luke & Chewie, Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra, Beilert Valance, Dengar and many other bounty hunters - this is the crossover event of the decade, so is not one to be missed! This story is set just after Empire Strikes Back (& after the first runs of the Star Wars, Darth Vader & Doctor Aphra comics) and the reading order is WoBH Alpha>SW13>BH12>DV12>DA10. WoBH Alpha was released 5th May 2021, it written by Charles Soule with Steve McNiven as artist and Laura Martin as colour artist. SW13 was released 12th May 2021, it was written by Charles Soule with Ramon Rosanas as artist and Rachelle Rosenberg as colour artist. BH12 was released 19th May 2021, it written by Ethan Sacks with Paolo Villanelli as artist and Arif Prianto as colour artist. DV12 was released 26th May 2021, it written by Greg Pak with Guiu Vilanova as artist and Dean White as colour artist along with Giada Marchiso. DA10 was released 26th May 2021, it written by Alyssa Wong with Ray-Anthony Heigh as penciller, Victor Olazaba as inker and Rachelle Rosenberg as colour artist. Check out the last episode of SWCIC where Mike embarked on the penultimate Doctor Aphra story-arc from the 2016 run; The Unspeakable Rebel Superweapon! In addition to detailing what this superweapon is, these issues give backstory to Aphra's relationship with her mother and shows a huge amount of trickery & madness (as standard with Aphra), plus Mike gives information on RA-7 protocol droids, Gigorans, the Empire's Gallery Of Peace and more! Check out Mike's Patreon, where he releases 1 or 2 episodes of his “Afterthoughts” a week (with 3 episodes now *FREE* to anyone: season 1 of The Witcher, The Phantom Menace & Spider-Man 3!), plus there are unsplit full-length episodes of GCC, additional photos (including early access to photos of comics for this very show) and more, so if you want to support the show and get more content, check it out at http://patreon.com/genuinechitchat If you just want to hear M&M's talk about Spider-Man 3, check it out here for free: http://bit.ly/Spiderman3AT Keep an eye out for the Comics In Motion Book Club, releasing soon, with the first episode tackling the first volume of the 2017 Darth Vader comic run!
