Darrell Cronk, chief investment officer at Wells Fargo Wealth & Investment Management, says he expects inflation will top 4% during the summer, which will put pressure on the Federal Reserve to hike interest rates, but that could dramatically increase the potential for recession because rate hikes and oil-driven inflation stocks, historically, have been a recipe for trouble. Cronk, who also serves as president of the Wells Fargo Investment Institute, says that virtually all economic and market outlooks hinge on questions around reopening the Strait of Hormuz, but his outlook remains positive, noting that markets have nearly eclipsed in five months Wells Fargo's forecast for the year, with solid earnings poised to drive things higher from here. In spite of the economic concerns, Cromk is optimistic that it will be "a good year when we put 2026 in the history books." Jim Lee, founder of StratFi, says the technicals show a market that is somewhat overbought, making it due for a minor pullback of about 5 percent "in the next month or so," but says he would buy the dips because the market has the potential to deliver 20 percent gains when 2026 is done. Lee notes that he particularly likes the "HALO stocks," "heavy asset, low obsolescence" plays that tend to be old-economy dividend-payers, which have done well in 2026 and have momentum that he expects to continue, even if it takes longer than expected to resolve the war in Iran. Plus, Gordon Hamilton, senior managing director for Kayne Anderson — portfolio manager for the Kayne Anderson Energy Infrastructure closed-end fund — says 'historic' oil drawdowns are setting up a major call once a peace deal is done for U.S. energy infrastructure companies to meet global demand for propane, butane, crude oil and natural gas. Coupled with an energy "supercycle" driven by artificial-intelligence needs, it has created what should be a persistent long-term opportunity for infrastructure investors.

One of the very first was "The Search for Mera" in the spring of 1968 running through nine issues of the ongoing Aquaman book. A few years later at the start of The Bronze Age, "The Superman Sandman Saga" dropped, also running through nine issues of the hero's titular title. The flood gates were opened (sorry Aquaman) and what followedwere a spate of classic tales--"The New Teen Titans:The JudasContract", The L.S.H. "The Great Darkness Saga", "The Trial of TheFlash", and of course the entire Fourth World Saga--all in continuity, published in ongoing titles. And of course the dreaded "creature of the night", "the dark knight detective"--The Batman--was to have his share of these main-stream event books.     Join hosts James, Chris, and Joe for a fun-filled closeexamination of one of Batman's multi-part ongoing events--"Batman Hush"! We only really talk about Sam Kieth's passing towards the end of the episode but I think we should have probably talked about his work more off the top. I can't really understate how hard The Maxx hit when I first stumbled upon it in the early 90s. I came to Sam Kieth's work through the animated series but later when I dug into his comics (including his work on Sandman) I found myself pushed further and further down the path as an “indie comics” kid. Are Jim Mahood and Jhonen Vasquez two of my favorite artists if not for the work of Sam Kieth? Probably not. Jim Lee on Sam Kieth: “”Kieth, who was not just a big name coming off his sensational run on Marvel Comics Presents, but a friend who also loved talking about the psychological underpinnings of our favorite characters. My pitch to Sam back then was simple: come do whatever you want. Total creative freedom. Own it all. Take it wherever you want-or nowhere at all. And Sam ran with it and launched his creation ‘the Maxx’ through our anthology series Darker Image #1, promptly selling over a million copies.” We talk about plenty of other stuff too but I just wanted to give one of the greats his due. We talk about how often science fiction gets things wrong, a bunch of other celebrity deaths, the Firefly reboot, Buffy, the Arrowverse and how horror movies are getting their flowers at the Oscars. The cowboy is one of the most potent symbols of American Western mythology. But while pop culture might call John Wayne or the Marlboro Man to mind, real history tells a different story than Hollywood or history books. Cowboys in the West were racially diverse, and in Eastern Oregon, Chinese Americans played a big role in ranching and local economies.   As part of work to reclaim histories of the early Chinese diaspora in rural Oregon, archaeologists and community historians are on the trail of Eastern Oregon’s Chinese cowboys. That pursuit takes us to the historic Stewart Ranch in Grant County to learn more about Buckaroo Sam, cook Jim Lee and others who lived and worked there.
