GEORGIA RADIO - CMA and ACM award-winning country music legend Moe Bandy celebrates the 45th anniversary of his hit single “Just Good Ol' Boys” with Joe Stampley, which was released in July 1979. Moe joins Matt Jolley on Georgia Radio to talk about the anniversary and what he's doing now!"Just Good Ol' Boys" was recorded on Columbia Records, and was the title track on Bandy & Stampley's first duets project. Penned by Ansley Fleetwood, the single held the top spot for a week and enjoyed an eleven-week stint on the country chart, and remains one of Bandy's most requested songs at every show. Moe Bandy was recently presented with the first-ever “Moe Bandy Icon Award” at the Texas Country Music Awards at Billy Bob's Texas.“When we recorded ‘Just Good Ol' Boys,” we never dreamed it would last this long,” smiles Bandy. “This song has had a huge influence on my career and I always enjoy performing it live. One thing is for certain, there must be a lot of good ol' boys and girls out there and I truly appreciate each one!”Bandy's current album, ‘Thank You Lord' contains twelve heartfelt tracks and features special guests The Isaacs on “Family Bible,” and The Oak Ridge Boys with Nora Lee Allen on “The Lord Is My Shepherd.” The title track, written by Mo Pitney, Bobby Tomberlin, and Cheryl Riddle, offers a true reflection of where Bandy is in his life today, of which he is thankful for another mile, another day, and a life many could have only dreamed of. ‘Thank You Lord' features tunes from prominent Nashville songwriters, including Willie Nelson, Bill Anderson, Hank Williams, and more! The twelve-track project was produced by Michele Voan Capps and sponsored by Gus Arrendale and Springer Mountain Farms. Back in the day while I was doing mornings at KRAK in Sacramento in 1978, I spoofed a song that Joe Stampley recorded entitled "If You've Got 10 Minutes, Let's Fall in Love". In the song, Joe asked many opened ended questions which I decided to fill on air with stupid responses from my alter ego - Luscious Lucy. Well my dumb version was an instant hit locally with our listeners (you have to understand that they felt sorry for me) and I asked Joe's management if I could record my version with local singer Beau Melgreen. They agreed if I would surprise Joe Stampley on stage during his concert, wearing an awful costume as Luscious Lucy. I finally tracked Joe down after all these years to talk about that day and his career. He is an amazing guy with a big heart and a ton of talent. Check him out and see if you agree.

Beau Renfro is a member of the Rock-a-Billy Hall of Fame in Jackson, Tennessee. He is an entertainer, song writer and singer. Beau's music career started in a church in Forrest City, Arkansas. He learned to sing by listening to his mother and sisters sing old Gospel songs. All nine of his sisters played a role in the evolution of Beau’s music. His sister Jean paid for his first guitar and sisters Lou, Joyce, Naomi and Helen made sure he paid attention as they worked out the songs for Sunday service and his little sister Martha was the audience. Beau grew up listening to the great sounds out of Nashville play from his radio. After moving to east Texas, Beau formed a country band called Beau & the Bandits. He worked at a radio station (KROZ) as the morning DJ by day and he and the Bandits played his music at night in some of Texas' most famous night clubs including the Sawmill Club, the Oil Palace, The Rio and The Tropicana. He also played back up for many of the country stars out of Nashville including T.G. Shepard, Moe Bandy, Jerry Reed, Charlie Rich, Faron Young and Joe Stampley. Beau was hired to play in the David Houston Band and in 1976 released his first album. The single “There’s No More Gold” went to number 85 on the country charts and was chosen as ‘pick hit of the week’ by Billboard Magazine. Beau also promoted songs for Cedarwood Publishing Company in Nashville and was responsible for pitching the song “Red Wine” to Epic Records. The song went to #5 for Joe Stampley. After his first album, Beau fell off the charts. He returned to the familiar Texas nightclub venue. The required travel began to interfere in his family life, so he accepted a job in Branson, MO as the MC for the Ozark Jubilee. Finding the 200 show per year schedule as time consuming as the nightclub travel, Beau decided to retire from the music business. Beau and his family moved to Tucson, Arizona where he got a job in the car industry. Unable to stay away from music, he formed a new band, Beau Renfro and his Clear Country Band and began playing in Tucson clubs and casinos. After many years, Beau and his wife Brenda moved back to a small town in the foothills of the Ozarks where he currently resides.
