An Invisible Sun is a work of narrated speculative audio fiction written and performed by W. Keith Tims, writer of The Book of Constellations and The Love Talker. Set a hundred years in the future, history professor Christopher Cousins believes he's contracted a mysterious plague which is somehow related to the orbital Gates that allow light-speed travel through the solar system. But the governments and corporations are willing to do everything they must to suppress the existence of it. What's more, those with the plague can hear and see strange things no one else can. As he investigates, he falls in with a group of dissidents (or are they terrorists?) who, like him, want to uncover the truth--which may be the biggest secret humanity has ever kept. Hi friends! What you're about to listen to was an interview that was originally recorded in July of 2022, when we sat down with W. Keith Tims to talk about the creation of Echoes (In) Between for his invaluable show, The First Episode Of. The First Episode of is a podcast in which Keith explores the creative process of indie audio drama makers from all over the world. If you like the episode that featured us, you will love the other 50+ episodes, including those currently being released every other Sunday for the show's second season. They are filled with all sorts of insight, behind the scenes antics, and touching stories from the artists behind your favorite audio dramas. Keith also has his own audio drama, The Book of Constellations, which is a sentimental sci-fi road trip with three unlikely friends through a troubled American landscape. You can also check out Keith's newest show, The Love Talker, a soon to be released full cast atmospheric horror podcast. Thanks again to W. Keith Tims for having us on the show!

This is W. Keith Tims, writer, producer and performer of The Book of Constellations. It's a down-to-Earth sci-fi road trip about Rael, the sole survivor of an alien race, who has come to Earth to fight the same Darkness that claimed his own people. Along the way Rael gathers allies from the lost and forgotten of America, including Satya, a teenager running from her abusive family, and Simon, the narrator, who suffers from bone cancer. Rael rejects the tools of violence and force, instead relying on his radical sense of empathy to confront the Darkness. The episode I have to share with you is Verse 12, “Redemption.” Throughout the show, Rael is pursued by a paramilitary organization called The Theta Group, led by Dr. Mara Astrom. In this episode, Satya has been captured by them to draw Rael out. But Simon goes to Dr. Astrom alone, to bargain with her. I really appreciate you giving the show a listen. Thank you. The First Episode Of... is an occasional podcast about audio drama and the creative process hosted by W. Keith Tims. In each show, I listen to the first episode of an indie audio drama, then have a discussion with the creators about the show, their methods, their struggles, and successes. It's a great conversation for anyone interested in storytelling and creativity, and with so much talent and variety out there, you're sure to find your next favorite audio drama by listening. You can find it at thefirstepisodeof.com or wherever you find podcasts.
