Stratford Point Light Station in 2015, photo by Jeremy D'Entremont David Wright Stratford, Connecticut, was an active port in coastal trade, shipbuilding and oystering in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. To mark the entrance to the harbor, the first Stratford Point Lighthouse was built on the west side of the dangerous mouth of the Housatonic River in 1822. The present tower, 35 feet tall, was built along with a new keeper's house in 1881. Theodore of "Theed" Judson was keeper from 1880 to 1921. In his more than 40 years at Stratford Point, Judson frequently made the local newspapers with sightings of sea monsters and mermaids. The light station is still owned by the Coast Guard, but the town of Stratford holds occasional open houses for the public. Our guest in this episode, David Wright, is the Stratford town historian. He gives walking tours and writes articles about local history. When the lighthouse is open, David takes on the identity of Keeper Theodore Judson while his wife portrays the keeper's wife, Kate.

Theed, the god of holy light. His Champions are powerful and dangerous. Yet our investigators find one barring their way who may have strayed from the path after centuries stuck in purgatory. During the funeral in both revenge of the Sith and tales of the Jedi, we saw padme's lifeless body being mourned in Theed city on Naboo with hundreds of thousands of people there paying their respects. In tales of the Jedi we learned that Ahsoka was actually in the crowd as well, and while this of course wasn't in revenge of the Sith, so don't bother trying to find her like Waldo in the crowd, as she didn't exist at the time since George Lucas hadn't released the clone wars series yet. She was seen in her gown holding the japor snippet that anakin had given her when he was 9 on the ship and we see her as pregnant. It is confirmed in the Revenge of the Sith novel, that Yoda orders her to have a pregnant bump during the ceremony because he doesn't want the empire to think the children are still alive, and for Palpatine and Vader to come looking for what they think is just one child. Will the Nabooans ever be able to tell Gungans apart? What happens when one writer wants to make an homage to The Three Musketeers, and the other one to Kurosawa's Kagemusha? We answer these and other questions. (P.S. Anakin is captured by Dooku, and that's like the C story!)Our Jedi Fortune Cookie is "Who a person truly is cannot be seen with the eye." The radio announcer chimes in to tell us that Naboo is in peril - civil unrest leads to rumors that the Gungans will side with the separatists and attack Theed, leading Padme and Anakin to head back there. They meet up with Jar-Jar, who informs them that Boss Lyonie is blaming the Naboo for all the problems, and calling for the Gungan military to march on Theed. Anakin quickly realizes Lyonie has been possessed by an evil necklace; once removed, Lyonie realizes he's been tricked by new minister Rish Loo. The minister is in league with the Separatists - once he realizes Lyonie is no longer under control, Rish Loo stabs him and makes his escape. While ensuring the not-dead-yet Lyonie has proper medical care, Anakin and PAdme realize that Jar-Jar looks a lot like Lyonie when wearing the crown, and also has the same voice actor, so he could just pretend to be Boss Lyonie and fix things! Rish Loo rallies the troops to attack Theed to avenge Boss Lyonie , but Boss Lyonie/Jar-Jar shows up to talk them out of it. Rish Loo escapes on a speeder this time, chased by Anakin. At the same time, the droid army arrives to find out why the attack was canceled. "Boss Lyonie'' meets with General Grievous to attempt to call it off. When that doesn't work, he has General Tarpals leave and make a quick speech to Padme about how he really likes the Naboo people and is definitely not going to die in the attack on General Grievous. Then the Gungans attack Grievous, and Tarpals dies, sacrificing himself so Grievous can be captured.Darth Sidious says this is bad, and orders Dooku to capture Skywalker, then trade him back to the Republic for Grievous. Rish Loo leads Skywalker to Dooku, who is also on Naboo. Once they both arrive, Dooku kills Rish Loo, then he and a number of MagnaGuard attack Skywalker and the battle rages! The numbers game is too much for Anakin, and he is captured. Dooku offers the trade, which Padme regretfully declines - Grievous is far more valuable. But Jar-Jar and Lyonie talk her into accepting the deal, because of friendship. The exchange happens, and we reach THE END.The Clone Wars: Season 4 Episodes 5 and 6: https://www.disneyplus.com/video/794938c4-0700-4b1f-a6c3-20aff7ca1b39https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCz9X-57K6-VV_GkUBaqvyeAMerch: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm

This Episode is a bit heavier than I had intended BUT the beauty of driving with THEED is there is no structure, there is no script. It's me, you and my thoughts, and me driving(Obviously). It's an AM episode but filled with good and mostly positive content. If you're a content creator, it might be worth listening to. That is all.
FIVE MONTHS! FIVE MONTHS SINCE I LAST DID A PODCAST EPISODE. That is wild. Welcome to a little awkward catch up chat, where I just talk about stuff. I hope you find some goodness from it. 5 episodes a week, either in the morning on route to work or on my way home from work. Looking forward to the next chapter roaming the English roads chatting crap with you! Feels good to be back, it really does.

Welcome to episode 15 of sitting with THEED! In Part Three of our series examining the throne rooms of Star Wars, we get in the way-back machine and travel to the Prequel Trilogy! We go in-depth examining the High Board Room of the of Otoh Gungan High Council, the Royal Palace throne room in Theed, and Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine's "office" (which we are sure HE considered a throne room). We find a lot of ways to compare and contrast these three distinct rooms, and of course we both "RATE THAT THRONE ROOM." Plus, in Current Events we commiserate over what could have been at Star Wars Celebration 2020 and discuss John Boyega's recent GQ interview.

Is he the person you'd want driving you around or is he the person you switch lanes to avoid? It is up to you to judge. Welcome, to episode one of Driving with THEED.

Tom Tag (left) accepting a Holland Award from American Lighthouse Council president Don Terras in 2011. The award is named for the historian Francis Ross Holland, Jr., who received the initial Distinguished Service Award that was to henceforth carry his name. The featured interview in this episode is with Tom Tag, who is the technical advisor for the U.S. Lighthouse Society. Tom's passion for the history of lighthouse optics has made him the premier American authority on the history and technology of lamps and lenses. He formerly served on the U.S. Lighthouse Society's Board of Directors, along with lead roles in several other lighthouse organizations. Tom Tag was born in Chicago but grew up in Laporte, Indiana. After retiring from a career in management of computer programmers, he was looking for something different to do. Tom has written many articles on lighthouse technology for the U.S. Lighthouse Society’s journal The Keeper’s Log. His work as a lighthouse researcher earned Tom an F. Ross Holland Award from the American Lighthouse Council. He also has had a major hand in the development of what is now the J. Candace Clifford Lighthouse Research Catalog, and he has developed many other historical resources on the U.S. Lighthouse Society website.
