Sex is one of those topics that is ubiquitous in our culture, but can be incredibly intimidating to discuss with our kids. Pornography is a billion dollar industry and almost impossible to shield our kids from completely. How do we approach these topics with our kids? In this episode, Ted Ryskoski talks with Lindsey Lehtinen and Kevin Hester about how we can talk to our kids about the beauty of God's gift of sex and the reality of how it can be distorted and dangerous in our broken world.

“The way in which we talk about feet washing in our churches is something that doesn't encourage the practice.” “Washing the Saints' Feet” is an ordinance held by the National Association of Free Will Baptists, Inc. (https://nafwb.org/treatise/). Dr. Kevin Hester, Dean of the School of Theology at Welch College, discusses the significance and importance of the practice of feet washing. Feet washing will be observed during a special service Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the 2022 National Convention. Communion will be observed at 7:00 p.m. during the evening worship service.
Regular cohosts Kevin Hester and Guy McPherson were joined by the voice of Pauline Schneider as she read replies to questions from climate-change expert Sam Carana. We discussed Carana's recent and ongoing work as a voice of synthesis on the topic of abrupt, irreversible climate change.

On episode #20 of the Green Root Podcast, host & future climate refugee Josh Schlossberg interviews abrupt climate change researcher & Nature Bats Last co-host, Kevin Hester, about tipping points and extinction cascades, media and entertainment as a distraction from climate breakdown, managing grief, and why it’s never too late to start telling the truth.

Nuclear weapons – their design, engineering, chances for implementation – that’s the topic we explore with Jay Coghlan, Executive Director of Nukewatch NM. Jay goes over the division of responsibility for nuclear weapons of mass destruction between Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), Sandia Laboratory, and California’s Lawrence Livermore Lab. He then rips into Department of Energy for the lies and “theatre” surrounding claims of a “more-than-halfway-completed” so-called “clean-up” of LANL that ignores the vast majority of radioactive contamination… and ultimately is funding the new nuclear arms race. New Chris Busby website – www.chris.busby.exposed – tells the truth about this tireless British scientist. Chris is creating serious questions in the UK and beyond about the health effects of ionizing radiation and exposure to Uranium Weapons. And be sure to check out the Nuclear Hotseat interview with Chris Busby from Episode #333, November 7, 2017. Kevin Hester is a lifelong veteran of the eco-wars, with a fierceching, unflin attention to climate change and issues of human extinction. He currently produces and hosts the podcast Nature Bats Last, where he talks the difficult talk about the abrupt and exponential nature of global warming and the ultimate threat to human survival. But in this short interview (scroll down), we hear a different side of Kevin, about his life on a tiny New Zealand island and the real sense of community that sustains him. This past weekend saw another flurry of recruiting activity, as the Tar Heels hosted a number of players for the basketball game against Gonzaga. On hand were several recruits from the 2019 class, as well as several elite in-state players for the upcoming 2020 recruiting class. By Monday morning, two new players had elected to give verbal commitments to the Heels – 2019 cornerback Obi Egbuna and 2019 defensive lineman Kevin Hester. Additionally, prized 2019 QB recruit Sam Howell took a very last-minute official visit to Chapel Hill on Sunday, which is a very good sign for Carolina fans. Inside Carolina’s Don Callahan joins host Jon Seiglie to breakdown all of this past weekend’s recruiting news, and also preview a bit of upcoming IC content for the December signing day. The nature of this discussion with Kevin Hester and [RS] is to approach the difficulties of accepting the reality of the situation we are in and applying this understanding to our day-to-day existence, with all the complexities and inconsistencies that come with that. As the climate crisis continues to accelerate, and the likelihood of mass human displacement and extinction increases by the year, what does it mean to live and be in this time? The deeper question that comes up in the face of the likely near-term extinction of the human species is: what is this crisis asking of us as individuals and as a collective? How do we act in this time? In the face of extinction, it is imperative that we act and resist beautifully, with love, in the time that we have, without being attached to the outcome. There is no map to the territory we have entered into, as individuals and as a species. At the very least, we must begin the process of accepting this truth in light of our current predicament, and aid others in their journey to acceptance, as well. In this episode, I speak with Kevin Hester, host of ‘Nature Bats Last,’ and [RS], in a group conversation in which we discuss living in a time of accelerating change, abrupt climate disruption, and extinction. As the climate crisis continues to accelerate, and the likelihood of mass human displacement and extinction increases by the year, what does it mean to live and be in this time? The nature of this discussion with Kevin and Rob is to approach the difficulties of accepting the reality of the situation we are in and applying this understanding to our day-to-day existence, with all the complexities and inconsistencies that come with that. What does it mean to have and bear children in this time? How does this time of accelerating crisis (whether it be the climate system, ecological, economic, etc) inform our politics and political activism? We ask these questions in light of rising authoritarianism and full-fledged fascism worldwide, widespread social division, rising state/corporate surveillance and violence, and the accelerating loss of biodiversity across the bioshere. I thank Kevin and [RS] for their directness, honesty, and the courage to have the conversation most are unwilling or unable to have. In my view he is one of the leading scientists, who is engaged in the topic of abrupt climate change. But nobody knows who is behind this name, he prefers to remain anonymous. In this episode of the FasterThanExpected podcast we focus on the question: How is ice melting in the Arctic and methane influencing the global temperature? About the melting ice in the Arctic we had heard from Thorstein Viddal and Peter Wadhams in the first part of my Arctic series. The thickness and volume of the ice is at a record low. With Jennifer Hynes I have talked about the Methane Monster, that is out now. Sam Carana is the main writer onArctic News blog, that describes the situation in the Arctic, focusing especially on the threat of large abrupt methane eruptions from the Arctic Ocean seafloor. Sam Carana gives no audio or video interviews, but he has been so kind to give me a written interview. I am thankful, that Kevin Hester from New Zealand will take his part in this recording. During the last year 2017 I have published 12 episodes, including this one. Please listen to the excerpts of the episodes that have been played most. This is a review of the FasterThanExpected podcast in 2017. New Launch I had a break in the first half of the year. I have not been satisfied with the attention my work has received, especially the German episodes. I recognized that I had two different target groups: the international English speaking community, who is familiar with abrupt climate change and the resulting near-term human extinction and the German speaking group, where scarcely anybody has heard about „Abruptem Klimawandel“. I decided to concentrate on the first group and had a new launch in June 2017 with Listening in the Rain Forest, a talk with musician and instrument builder Catherine Thompson, who is living in Thailand. Kind regards to you, Cathrine. Stats The podcast had 4100 total plays in 2017. I had nearly 10,000 hits on the shownote pages of my website xwer.de. Now, here are my charts of 2017: The Third The third place in my podcast chart is: FTE18 - Exponential Disaster This episode from October 2017 had 193 plays. That is not really much attention, but I am aware, that only a few people in the world want to know something about the upcoming disasters. In this episode I have been talking with the American disaster manager Nick from ReliefAnalysis. I have talked with him about different phases of disaster management, about exponential extreme weather events and about a hospice situation. Place two FTE15 - worldwide connected: Water This is an episode co-hosted by Kevin Hester from July with 252 plays. We have dedicate this episode to the animals and the burden inflicted on the other species by us, Homo sapiens. Billions of animals are dying and suffering. And 200 species (of animals and plants) are going extinct every day. The first place And now, ta ta ta, the first place of the FasterThanExpected Charts: FTE13 - Biology for doomers This conversation with the one and only Guy McPherson from June 17 had 1343 plays. What makes a biologist like Guy McPherson suppose, that the climate change leads to the demise of the human species? One of the answers we hear in this episode is: Habitat, habitat, habitat! 2018 Well, I am not doing this work for clicks in the internet in the first place, but for you dear listeners. By the way, I enjoy it to produce podcast episodes. And it‘s mental hygiene for me to talk with people on the same wavelength about this difficult topic. In 2018 I will go on with the series about the Arctic. It‘s funny, I had planned to have weekly episodes in December, but now I am slower than expected. I hope we‘ll meet again in 2018. And if you hear this episode in 2018, I see, you are back again.
This is the first worldwide podcast episode, co-hosted by Kevin Hester, New Zealand, and Wolfgang Werminghausen, Germany. We are talking about the role of water in abrupt climate change, the lack of water, floods, risk for nuclear power plants and the inner connection with the whole nature, that can be experienced with water. Kevin Hester is living on Rakino Island, a small Island near Auckland New Zealand. He is a lifelong activist for ecology, for peace, against nuclear power and weapons and since some years he is tireless warning the world’s public about the dire consequences of the ongoing abrupt climate change. He is the living example, that the assumption, someone who is certain about the near term human extinction, will do nothing anymore, is really bullshit. We can laugh about that. [image] Wolfgang Werminhausen is living in Münster, Germany. He has 4 children and is more than half of his life father of children. After study of psychology and working as psychotherapist, he had a trip into the world of finance for some years. With the insight, that the economic paradigm of infinite growth is a delusion and does harm ecologically, it was only a small step to Guy McPherson’s theses of abrupt climate change and the near-term human extinction. Kevin and Wolfgang really have a different temper, you‘ll hear it obviously. So this an experiment, if this teamwork is working. Of course, we have one aim: to connect people in these dire times of collapsing bio-systems. Please give a comment on facebook. Kevin’s website: kevinhester.live Wolfgang's website: xwer.de/fte15
Episode 9 promotes "Guy McPherson's New Zealand Tour 2016" from November, the 24th to December, the 7th. I hold an interview with Kevin Hester, who is organizing this tour. You may wonder that I am talking about these events on the other side of the globe, but it's clear that we are facing a global catastrophe and we have to realize that we are living on this one planet.
I am honored to have the opportunity to present five great personalities, who share their knowledge about a burning issue, the melting of the Arctic sea ice and consequential a massive change of the global climate. We may listen to Sam Carana, Guy McPherson, Jennifer Hynes, Peter Wadhams and Kevin Hester, all short and condensed interviews or statements.

This week Eric welcomes author and columnist Paul Street, and radical envrionmentalist and political activist Kevin Hester to CounterPunch Radio. First, Eric chats with America's leading ultra-sectarian ideological criminal Paul Street about why he's having second thoughts about Bernie Sanders, and why the ruling elites might be as well. Eric and Paul discuss the Sanders campaign, what it means for grassroots activism, and whether or not it's a dead end for those seeking radical change. They also touch on The Donald, the trumpen proletariat, and the danger of a fascist state in a post-President Trump scenario. In the second part of the show Eric connects with Kevin Hester out on his isolated island in New Zealand to discuss the looming climate catastrophe and the unraveling of the biosphere. Eric and Kevin discuss the bleak, dystopian future of abrupt climate change, the latest report from James Hansen, and why everyone should be conscious of what is to come. Also, they examine the connection between climate change, the environment, and imperialism. Not exactly the rosiest picture, but an important reality. New Zealand climate change activist Kevin Hester on anti-nuclear activism in a nuclear-free country, Fukushima impact on the Pacific, and his having been an eyewitness to the sinking of the Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior.
This Week’s Featured Interview: Kevin Hester was born in New Zealand and became involved in the early 1980's in that country’s environmental movement, which was heavily influenced by the anti-nuclear activities that resulted in having NZ declared nuclear-free. Should we be more concerned about terrorists or climate change? What a question! Climate change can kill with efficacy as huge storms hit with frightening intensity and after the winds go, leave a legacy of flooding and landslides. More slowly, rising seas will gradually erase whole nations, and droughts will kill many thousands, and even cause wars over resources. Western governments, however, are making it clear which they think is the issue to worry about. Climate change is taking a back seat, even when there has been a cyclone (cyclone Haiyan) that killed 6300 people in 2013. However in early December 2015 the largest UN summit of the decade is to take place in Paris. The big question is will the delegates get the message to keep fossil fuel in the ground and to finance a transition to renewable energy by 2050? This is the aim of 350.org. Even that seems too little too late.
