What does it really mean to write with conviction in a world where everyone's doing somebody's bidding? In this episode of Refining Rhetoric, host Robert Bortins sits down with award-winning author and Union University journalism professor Dr. Ted Kluck — 30 books, ESPN bylines, and a Christianity Today Book of the Year winner — to talk about faith, writing craft, and what it looks like to redeem journalism for the glory of God. They dig into Ted's journey from secular sportswriting to Christian publishing, how AI is reshaping the college classroom, and what parents and aspiring writers should actually focus on. Ted also shares why he believes there aren't many truly Christian colleges left in 2026 — and why Union University is one of them. Resources: Interested in studying journalism at Union? Host Jeremy C. Park interviews Cecily Berry, Miss Shelby County 2026 and financial advisor with First Horizon Advisors, who discusses her journey in the Miss America organization and her work promoting financial literacy through Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South. Cecily talks about her ties to and passion for Memphis, her recent graduation from Union University with degrees in economics and executive leadership, and how her mother's previous competition 30 years ago inspired her to join, describing the organization's focus on developing professional leadership skills in women while serving their communities. The program involves various components including interviews, public speaking, and on-stage presence, with significant emphasis on community service and advocacy. Cecily discusses her work as a financial advisor and her decision to volunteer with Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South to address a lack of financial literacy in early education. She explains how Junior Achievement's experiential learning programs, from 3rd grade to high school, help develop essential financial skills like budgeting and investing. She shares how volunteering has transformed her as a leader, allowing her to better teach complex financial concepts to both children and adult clients, and demonstrating that financial education can be effective at all age levels. The conversation covers her experience competing at local, state, and potential national levels, emphasizing the personal growth in confidence and professional development that comes with representing the title, as well as the responsibility of representing the organization and cause. Cecily shares how she has built friendships and been inspired by the other contestants, and how the competition has brought her closer with her mother. She explains the differences between local, Miss Tennessee, and Miss America competitions, noting variations in scoring systems and the number of participants. She discusses how competing in these events has helped her grow in confidence and professional development, particularly in networking and public speaking situations. Jeremy asks how others can support and follow her journey, to which Cecily suggests following her on social media and providing support through likes and comments online and through support of Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South. Estate planning can appear straightforward until factors like privacy, control and long-term management come into play. What begins as a simple distribution of assets can quickly involve decisions around trusteeship, probate and how to prevent disputes. In this episode of Celebrity Estates, Senior Editor David Lenok speaks with Jennifer Proper, managing director of wealth strategies at Pitcairn, about a case where estate planning worked exactly as intended. Using the estate of actor Matthew Perry as a reference point, Jennifer explains how a revocable trust and pour-over will can function together to maintain privacy, avoid probate and streamline the handling of assets. David and Jennifer also examine the role of trustees, the importance of updating documents over time, and how specific provisions can discourage challenges or fraudulent claims. Their conversation underscores why planning early and reviewing regularly can make a meaningful difference in how an estate is ultimately administered. Key takeaways: How revocable trusts and pour-over wills work together to protect privacy and simplify asset distribution Why avoiding probate helps reduce costs, delays and public exposure of estate details The importance of choosing and reviewing trustees to handle long-term fiduciary responsibilities How specific clauses can discourage disputes and reduce the risk of fraudulent claims Why estate planning should begin early and evolve as life circumstances and goals change Resources: Listen to Celebrity Estates on Wealth Management Subscribe and listen to Celebrity Estates on Apple Podcasts Subscribe and listen to Celebrity Estates on Spotify Trust and Estates Magazine Register now for the Wealth Management Edge conference here! This week's episode is equal parts celebration and reflection. We're recapping Angela's "50 & Fabulous" birthday weekend in Franklin full of fun, laughter, and meaningful moments with the people she loves most. But beyond the celebration, this milestone sparked some honest questions we're all invited to consider in any new season: What do I want to carry forward? What am I ready to leave behind? How do I want to show up for the people who matter most? We talk about releasing expectations, embracing presence, and learning to celebrate the "little things" that make up a meaningful life. Because sometimes the biggest shifts don't come from major life changes, but from seeing our everyday lives with fresh eyes. Each episode is recorded on the campus of Union University! In this episode, we're talking about everything from Oura rings and energy drinks to funny church stories, bucket list dreams, and those "come along with me" friendships we all need. But underneath it all, we keep coming back to one question: What is actually filling us? Because no supplement, habit, or routine can replace the true source of peace, strength, and joy. "Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well." — 1 Thessalonians 2:8 If you're trying to get healthier, live fuller, and stay grounded in what really matters, this one's for you.
Stand-up comedy has become one of our culture's most important artistic forms. And that sounds strange. How can something as simple as a single person telling funny observations and anecdotes be one of our most important art forms? But look around. Stand-up is all over Netflix and other major streamers. Comedians dominate both the podcast arenas and the YouTube clip arenas. They also have an outsized importance in the national conversation on a broad range of culture issues. How did this all happen? Where did all these comedians come from? Is there a significance to stand-up comedians beyond a few laughs? More fundamentally, how should we, as Christians, view the (surprisingly ancient) tradition of the comedian? Joining us at the table to discuss this issue is Jason Crawford. He's a professor of English at Union University, where he specializes in early modern literature and culture. He has also written a fantastic new book called God's Fools: Saints, Prophets, Martyrs, and the Making of Modern Comedy.
In this episode, Bradley Green offers a Christian analysis of critical theory. Bradley Green is professor of theological studies at Union University, visiting professor of philosophy and theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and cofounder of Augustine School, a Christian liberal arts school in Jackson, Tennessee. He is also the author of 'What Is Critical Theory?: A Concise Christian Analysis' from Crossway. ❖ Listen to “We're in a Strange New World. Happy Easter Monday, friends! This episode is full of our favorite kind of conversation: real life, real faith, and a little bit of everything in between. We talk about our Easter traditions, what Holy Saturday teaches us about rest and waiting, and wrestle with a question that really matters: "what's the big deal about Jesus?" We keep coming back to this: without the resurrection, there is no Christianity. It's the reason for our hope and the foundation of everything we believe. You'll also hear about Fran's upcoming NYC ministry opportunity, our new memory verse (Jeremiah 17:7–8), and a few lighthearted, unexpected moments that make this episode feel like you're just sitting at the table with us. We're so thankful you're here laughing, learning, and growing with us as we follow Jesus in our everyday lives. Each episode is recorded on the campus of Union University! This episode is a little bit of everything and the kind of rambling conversation we love most. We share stories from recent adventures, including a trip to the Walmart Museum in Bentonville, a mission trip to Honduras (yes, there's a cow involved), and a few memorable characters along the way including Abraham the goat. We also talk about some meaningful ways people in our community are serving others, from caregiver support groups to a creative "Egg My Yard" fundraiser that's bringing neighbors together. But in the middle of all the stories, we land on a deeper question: What is a lie you may be believing about yourself, and what does Scripture say is actually true? We talk about the power of encouraging others, calling out the good we see in people, and remembering that God has uniquely gifted each of us to serve. Our March memory verse reminds us: "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10–11 So whether you're listening for the laughs, the life updates, or the encouragement, we hope this episode reminds you of one simple truth: You were created on purpose, and your life is meant to bless others. Here's a warning to parents from Union University's Phil Davignon. In a Touchstone article on increased secularization, he says we should be concerned about the influence of media content on our kids, but at the same time we let our kids watch all kinds of things online. He writes, “It is an open secret that the design for these apps relies on the same principles as casinos do. Psychologists suggest that using the language of addiction is no mere metaphor, since apps such as TikTok efficiently deliver a dopamine hit, leaving people craving more. Christian parents may prefer content-neutral social media to films with foul language, but doing so fails to recognize that form matters. Christians are people of the Word. To love God means to cultivate a mind that attends to God's presence in the Word of Scripture and the Logos of Creation. The TikTok generation is losing the capability to attend to anything of substance, as their minds become accustomed to a steady stream of online diversions.”
In this episode, we're doing what we do best: rambling through real life and noticing God's faithfulness in the middle of it all. We share an update on the pet swans, life on the farm, and highlights from the National Wild Turkey Federation Convention at the Opryland Hotel. We also talk about a beautiful caregiver support group in our community and confess our latest TikTok Shop fashion finds. Then in true Rambling fashion, we slow down for what matters most and discuss where we are struggling and how God meets us right in the middle of life's heaviness. February is Pro Life Month, and we're honored to welcome Jen Wilson back to the show to talk about Young Lives ministry, why it matters, and how each of us can love young mamas well from right where we are. Jen shares the powerful story of how God planted the seed for this ministry in the middle of her own cancer journey, and how saying yes to this work has radically changed her life. Through Young Lives, teen moms are seen, known, supported, and reminded that they are deeply loved by God and by the people walking alongside them. This conversation is both encouraging and practical. Jen helps us think through what it looks like to step outside our comfort zones, listen for God's call, and respond with obedience, even when it's not easy. As she beautifully says, "It's not easy, but it's an incredible privilege." There are so many ways to get involved with Young Lives through prayer, financial support, providing a meal, helping with childcare, mentoring a young mama, or supporting an upcoming local shopping event later this month. Southern Baptists have had a longstanding commitment to advocating for the protection of preborn lives and opposing abortion in every form. This is rooted in the biblical revelation that all people are created in God's image and have inherent value. During a recent pro-life advocacy trip to Washington, D.C., Southern Baptist college students, leaders, and pastors joined us for the 2026 March for Life and advocated alongside us on Capitol Hill. On this episode, you'll hear from two individuals involved in that trip, Dr. Dub Oliver, president of Union University, and Jason Marlin, lead pastor of First Baptist Church in Kirksville, Missouri, and an ERLC trustee. Both men reflect on their recent experience at the 53rd annual March for Life and share about the importance of educating and equipping the next generation to engage faithfully on pro-life issues. Well, we made it to February and survived snowmageddon! It's so great to be back in civilization with y'all for this week's episode where we ramble about all the things! This week on the podcast, we're joined by our dear friend and bestselling author Susannah B. Lewis for a heartfelt conversation about everything under the southern sun. Susannah shares vulnerable and powerful truth about the "people test," the danger of speaking curses over our own lives, and how God can use even our worst talk to accomplish His purposes. We unpack how Satan pulls us into doubt and self-reliance, why apart from Christ we can do nothing, and how getting ahead of God often leads to a harder fall later. We also discuss where Susannah finds inspiration for her fictional book characters and the exciting projects she has coming up next. We close with our memory verse for the month, Isaiah 43:19, a reminder that God is always doing something new, even when we can't see it yet. This is a conversation about humility, obedience, and learning to stay aligned with the One who invites us into His work, not because He needs us, but because He loves us. We hope that with each and every episode, you will find us talking about Jesus in our everyday lives while also learning, being challenged, and growing together while loving and laughing about what makes up our everyday lives. God is always doing a new thing even when we don't see it yet, making a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. This week's podcast episode is extra special because it's our last episode before January. We're talking about some of our favorite Christmas traditions, Fran's recent day trip to New York City, and then we slow things down to reflect on our December memory verse: "But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.' In this week's conversation, we're talking about the simple joys of everyday life and the beauty of true discipleship. When someone comes to know the Lord, what happens next? Who is coming alongside them as they begin to grow? And are we growing in God's Word so we can pour into the people around us? We also chat about accountability: what it is, what it isn't, and why real accountability isn't about policing behavior but holding someone's heart with care and honesty. Plus, we share our November memory verse: Philippians 4:8. We'd love to hear your thoughts on discipleship, accountability, and how you're living out your faith in everyday life. We hope that with each and every episode, you will find us talking about Jesus in our everyday lives while also learning, being challenged, and growing together while loving and laughing about what makes up our everyday lives. This week's podcast might just be one of our favorites yet. We talked about cozy fall things like a cranberry orange simmer pot and deeper things, like our thoughts, our struggles, and the way God transforms us through them. Somewhere between laughter and reflection, we found ourselves saying, "We've lost our ability to consider other perspectives," and it hit us hard. We also talked about how sin, as painful as it is, can be the very thing God uses to change us from the inside out. And then this question: "Are you thinking about what you're thinking about?" Because we average 10,000 thoughts a day, and each one can either pull us closer to life and peace or further into chaos. Philippians 4:8–9 is our memory verse this month, and it's such a grounding reminder: to center our minds on what's true, noble, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy—and to actually live it out. When we do, the God of peace meets us right there. We hope that with each and every episode, you will find us talking about Jesus in our everyday lives while also learning, being challenged, and growing together while loving and laughing about what makes up our everyday lives. Fran "The consistent thing in every episode is we will always talk about the Lord and also the fun and ridiculous things in our lives. We have stayed true to who we are. There is a zero percent chance we will ever be too serious." Fran "Whatever hard thing you are doing, take time to celebrate the wins, no matter how big or small." This week's episode is full of real life and real faith — from Wendy's chili
In this continuation of the Building Better Developers interview series, Kevin Adelsberger—owner of Adelsberger Marketing—returns to explore how businesses can refine their identity and message once the foundation is set. This episode focuses on branding and marketing fundamentals, uncovering what really drives connection, credibility, and growth. “Thinking about your brand and overall messaging is more important than color or font,” Kevin explains. “If your brand feels disconnected, no color will fix that.” The conversation moves beyond logos and design to the deeper work of communicating who you are and what you stand for—authentically and consistently. Branding: More Than Color and Fonts While many companies spend hours perfecting color palettes, Kevin challenges that mindset. He believes color psychology is largely a myth, with few industries where color directly affects success. Instead, businesses should focus on how their messaging and visuals align. Fonts, he adds, do have power. The right typeface can instantly signal tone—formal, playful, or high-tech—but only when used intentionally. “If you want to be a fun, crazy brand and your visuals feel stiff, no amount of color will fix the disconnect.” A strong brand reflects alignment: visuals, tone, and message working together to create trust and recognition. Keep Your Message Steady, but Your Website Fresh Kevin offers a balanced approach to maintaining your digital presence. Instead of obsessing over analytics or daily edits, he recommends structured consistency: Review your website monthly or quarterly for updates or broken features. Keep messaging steady, but stay alert for functionality issues like broken forms or outdated information. Focus on inbound marketing—making sure your brand is ready when customers come looking—then turn attention to outbound efforts like networking and content creation. “Most people never look at their website after it launches—that's a bigger problem than over-tweaking it.” Once your brand identity and message are established, spend more time sharing your expertise rather than endlessly adjusting pixels. Marketing Fundamentals for Beginners For entrepreneurs and small business owners who feel lost, Kevin recommends a few key resources to master branding and marketing fundamentals: Building a StoryBrand by Donald Miller — Understand how clear messaging connects you with customers. EntreLeadership by Dave Ramsey — Learn business and marketing principles from a leadership perspective. The Four Conversations by Blair Enns — Explore how to sell through consultative, relationship-driven discussions. Kevin also emphasizes simple, actionable steps: Define your competitive advantages and what makes you different. Create a one-liner that captures who you help and how. Avoid generic stock photos—real people and stories build trust. Feature your leadership team online; authenticity builds credibility. Learn from Competitors—Ethically Healthy competition can inspire innovation. Kevin encourages learning from peers and even collaborating with them. He participates in groups like the Bureau of Digital, a network of agency owners who share ideas without direct competition. “Artists steal,” Kevin jokes, “but the goal is to make other people's ideas better, not to copy them.” For those in established industries, he suggests finding professional or ownership groups—places where you can share, learn, and grow together. AI's Impact on Marketing and Creativity The conversation inevitably turns to artificial intelligence. Kevin views AI as both a tool and a threat—a resource that democratizes creativity while also reshaping industries. He points out the uncertainty around copyright, authenticity, and ethics, but admits that ignoring AI isn't an option. His team meets weekly to test new tools and evaluate where they can help. “We use AI to assist us, not replace us,” Kevin says. “It helps us work faster, but not everything it creates is ready for prime time.” From generating first-draft website content to creating AI voiceovers when budgets are tight, Kevin shows how these tools can fill gaps—without losing the human touch. Staying Grounded in a Changing Landscape Despite new technologies and shifting trends, Kevin's message remains timeless: strong branding is built on clarity, consistency, and authenticity. As the conversation wraps up, he reminds listeners that tools may evolve, but trust remains the core of every successful brand. “Stay human, stay honest, and keep refining your foundation.” A Little Background Kevin Adelsberger is the founder of Adelsberger Marketing, where they create work that grows their clients' businesses, in a culture that values their team and the Jackson, Tennessee, community. "Politics affects everyone everywhere. Yet most people do not know how to communicate or think methodically (much less unemotionally) about the issues at hand. What we need is for our thinking to be grounded in the basic framework of order, freedom, justice, and equality." Part 8 of our worldview study delves into "Political Thought: A Student's Guide" by Dr. Hunter Baker. This helpful guide will help you learn how to fruitfully consider and discuss politics and gain a greater capacity for evaluating political proposals and the claims that go with them. In this episode of Building Better Developers, hosts Rob Broadhead and Michael Meloche sit down with Kevin Adelsberger, owner of Adelsberger Marketing, to explore how small businesses can build success through branding basics. The discussion ties into the season's theme — Building Better Foundations — and shows how a thoughtful marketing strategy helps transform side hustles into thriving companies. Listen now to the full episode on Building Better Developers, available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Develpreneur.com — and stay tuned for Part 2 of the conversation with Kevin Adelsberger. Starting Small: Branding Basics from Burritos to Business Kevin's marketing journey started with burritos — literally. While working at a nonprofit, he began helping a local restaurant with its marketing in exchange for food. That early “say yes to everything” mindset helped him gain experience and connections. “When you're starting out, the answer is often yes to everything,” Kevin says. “But that can spread you too thin.” This early phase taught him one of the first branding basics: you must start broad to learn, but eventually narrow your focus to your strengths. Developers, freelancers, and small business owners can take this same approach — experiment early, then specialize as your reputation and client base grow. Knowing When to Rebrand As side hustles evolve into established businesses, many entrepreneurs ask: Should I rebrand? Kevin's advice is clear — it depends on your audience. “If your new focus serves a completely different audience, rebranding makes sense. But if there's overlap, changing your name or logo might cost you valuable recognition.” One of the key branding basics is understanding brand equity — the value built over time through consistent visuals, messaging, and reputation. A name people know is worth protecting. The Four Branding Basics Every Business Needs Kevin shares his firm's framework for defining a complete brand identity — four elements that every company should eventually refine: Visual Identity – your logo, colors, and design style. Positioning – how you serve the market and what makes you different. Identity – your mission, vision, and core values. Messaging – how you communicate and connect with your audience. He notes that new businesses don't need all of these perfected on day one. Start with visual identity and positioning, then evolve the rest as your business matures. “You don't have to get everything perfect on day one. Start simple, then refine as you grow.” Avoiding Common Marketing Mistakes When asked about bad marketing, Kevin emphasizes that missteps often come from ignoring your audience. “If you're doing something just to brag and not to provide value,” he warns, “you're going to have a bad time.” A big part of branding basics is keeping your customers at the center. Test your messages, get outside feedback, and consider how different people might interpret your marketing. Kevin also highlights the danger of having too few perspectives — especially when creating ads or visuals. Diversity in feedback helps prevent tone-deaf campaigns and strengthens connections. Investing in the Right Visual Identity The conversation wraps with a discussion on logos — a key topic in branding basics. While giant brands like Nike or Amazon have iconic designs, Kevin explains that small businesses don't need to overthink it. “A good logo used well adds professionalism,” he says. “A bad one gets you confused with everyone else.” He recommends investing in a professional brand kit that includes proper logo formats, colors, and fonts. Consistency builds recognition — and recognition builds trust. Branding Basics for Long-Term Success The first part of the interview with Kevin Adelsberger reminds us that branding isn't about fancy design or big budgets. It's about clarity, consistency, and connection. Whether you're launching your first side hustle or re-shaping a growing business, mastering branding basics helps you build a foundation that lasts. This week's conversation is full of fall break fun including Angela's recent trip to Chicago and Fran's next adventure. Fran shares more great questions we can ask our children (and ourselves) as we consider who are becoming. We also contemplate the difference in ruminating vs. meditating as we consider our memory verse for October, 2 Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and a sound mind." We hope that with each and every episode, you will find us talking about Jesus while also learning, being challenged, and growing together while loving and laughing about what makes up our everyday lives. We are so thankful Jesus is right there with us in the middle of it all. Favorite quotes and books referenced in this episode: "Leadership is easy to visualize and harder to actualize." Dr. Dub Oliver Leadership is a journey, it's never a destination. We should always be learning and growing and evolving. If you are experiencing a spirit of fear, that is not from the Lord. We have to know the difference between the two. God doesn't want us to be shy with his gifts, but bold, loving and sensible. Are you ruminating, meditating or marinating? Giddy Up, Eunice! This week, we are joined by our dear friend and best-selling author, Susannah B. Lewis. You will love Susannah's humor and authenticity as we discuss our faith and the challenge she placed before us at the Rooted and Rising Women's Event last month. We talk about the four types of soil and the condition of our hearts, and Susannah shares what prompted her to grow deeper in her relationship with the Lord. We hope that with each and every episode, you will find us talking about Jesus in our everyday lives while also learning, being challenged, and growing together, while loving and laughing about what makes up our everyday lives. We are so thankful Jesus is right there with us in the middle of it all. Favorite quotes from this episode: In praying for wisdom, the Lord gave me the desire for His Word. We have to be rooted in God's Word, or there is no fruit. God wants to transform our hearts! Ezekiel 36:26 "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." There is a difference between being saved and being surrendered. The fruit doesn't come from dipping the plant in the soil. It has to be rooted there. As I am growing spiritually, my thoughts have changed. My interests have changed. I am so on fire for the Lord that He has taken priority in my life, and my social media reflects that. I have come to know just how much I need the blood of Jesus, which in turn makes me bolder to speak that. We are called to be bold! That's what he wants from us! The older we get, the more hungry we become for the scriptures! We better understand what Jesus did for us, and we do not take that lightly! If we are struggling to fast from something, it has become an idol. We should be grieved by what grieves God. Our whole lives are a war between the flesh and the spirit. "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." Proverbs 4:23 Just because someone is older, that doesn't mean they are wise. Look for the fruit. Don't take spiritual advice from someone who is not in God's Word. We can be aware of what is going on in the world without being consumed by it. We will drift if we aren't actively drawing closer to the Lord. Ecclesiastes 1:18 "The greater my wisdom, the greater my grief. To increase knowledge only increases sorrow." This week, we share what we learned from our September memory verses in Colossians 1, and Fran shares our new memory verse for October, plus her takeaways from a powerful ministry event with Jaco Booyens on Union's campus last week. We talk about the power of confessing our sin and praying protection over one another, plus the prayer Jesus prayed over us in John 17. We hope that with each and every episode, you will find us talking about Jesus while also learning, being challenged, and growing together while loving and laughing about what makes up our everyday lives. We are so thankful Jesus is right there with us in the middle of it all. Did you memorize Colossians with us in September? What is the Lord teaching you through these verses? "For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light." Colossians 1:9-12 "It's time for us to be done with shallow, surface level faith. There is so much to learn, and the Lord wants to be engaged with us through his Word." Fran We have a new scripture memory verse for October: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment." 2 Timothy 1:7 CSB Learn more about Jaco Booyens Ministries Listen to a sermon by Jaco Booyens here John 17:11-19 "I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified."
