In this episode of the Journey of My Mother's Son podcast, I sit down again and talk with my friend, Aliza Hava. Aliza is making her second appearance on the show.  We first spoke back in January and talked about the healing power that music has.  Feel free to listen to that conversation by clicking here. In this episode, we really focus on talking about her new album that is scheduled to be released in the coming months. “Into the Light.” This album is deeply personal for Aliza.  She has used music to help her overcome the trauma of an abusive childhood.  It was a healing journey for her, and she hopes that it can be used by others in their own healing journeys.  The album was produced by multi-platinum Grammy-winner Mikal Blue, who is best known for his work with Colbie Caillat, Jason Mraz, and OneRepublic.  The album is a body of work, which features ten songs that take the listener on a soulful journey from darkness, "Into the Light." We also talk about the benefits and challenges of being an independent artist, the ever-changing technology of streaming and how it affects the music industry as a whole. Follow Aliza's crowdfunding campaign by clicking here so you'll be notified when it goes LIVE! To find out more about Aliza and her music, check out her website at https://www.alizahava.com/.

My guest on this episode, Aliza Hava, is an award-winning singer/songwriter whose music explores the deepest levels of love, life, and the power of positive social change. After college, she began performing at and co-producing concerts at the United Nations headquarters in NYC. She earned a position as Chair of the UN International Day of Peace NGO Music Committee and went on to produce live concerts on six continents in partnership with over forty civic society, governmental, and environmental organizations. While living part-time in the Middle East, Aliza represented UN-related peacebuilding initiatives and worked with Israeli and Palestinian musicians to promote peace and dialogue through music. She went on to produce the internationally live-streamed concert, Harmony in the Holy Land. This extraordinary event united Muslim, Christian, and Jewish musicians in a universal, musical prayer for peace from the heart of Jerusalem. Watching Palestinians and Israelis meet as strangers and part ways as friends, Aliza felt the reaffirmation of her calling to build bridges through the healing power of music.Featured on the soundtrack of Sharon Stone's award-winning documentary, Femme: Women Healing the World, which also features performances by Annie Lennox, Yoko Ono, and Rickie Lee Jones, Aliza is a recipient of the Human Spirit Award presented by the international organization Talent for Humanity. Aliza's New Album “Into The Light” is coming out soon.  Produced by multi-platinum Grammy-winner Mikal Blue, the album features ten songs that take the listener on a soulful journey from darkness, “Into the Light.” Links to Check Out Aliza and Her Music:Aliza's website - alizahava.comListen to Aliza's MusicAliza's YouTube ChannelSpotifyApple MusicSound CloudBandCampAmazon MusicAliza's Social MediaAliza's InstagramAliza's Facebook pageAliza's Twitter - XAliza's Tik TokFollow Daughters of Change:Website:Facebook:InstagramLinkedInMarie's LinkedIn:Daughters of Change Producer:  Sarah StaceySarah's LinkedIn Profile

Aliza Hava – Music is Healing

The Journey of My Mother's Son

In this episode of “The Journey of My Mother's Son” podcast, I sit down to talk with Aliza Hava. I was honored to have the incredibly talented singer songwriter, Aliza Hava (“aLEEza Hah-vuh”) on my show.  We talk about music, trauma, healing, life, and the state of our world today.  Most importantly, we talk about the role in which music can play in our lives to help heal past trauma and help us connect with each other and God. Ethereal. Enlightening. Medicine for the soul. Aliza Hava interlaces the elements; earth and sky, fire and water. Her transcendent voice is reminiscent of the mystical tone of Stevie Nicks, the raw soul of Janis Joplin, and the gritty wisdom of Brandi Carlile. With her award-winning infusion of folk, rock, pop, and soul, Aliza heals the tiny forgotten bits of ourselves while rekindling our memories, setting our feet on the path back home, and calling us to rise into our best versions of ourselves. Featured on the soundtrack of Sharon Stone's award-winning documentary, Femme: Women Healing the World, which also features performances by Annie Lennox, Yoko Ono, and Rickie Lee Jones, Hava is a recipient of the Human Spirit Award presented by the international organization Talent for Humanity. Her story is featured in their book along with seven other internationally acclaimed artist/activists. The original recording of her song RISE can be heard on Occupy this Album: 99 Songs for the 99% alongside artists such as Ani DiFranco, Jackson Browne, and Warren Haynes. Hava has always sought to relay a message of healing and hope in her music. Seeking solace from a difficult childhood, she turned to music at an early age. Self-taught on a twenty-dollar used guitar, she found inspiration in an old songbook she discovered in her parent's basement, 'Great Songs of the 60s.'  Fire-lit, Hava immersed herself in the history of the 60s and early 70s. The music, culture, and activism helped her discover her calling for healing and ignited a drive to write songs that could change the world. While in university studying Music Therapy, Aliza developed a strong inclination towards student activism and discovered a natural gift for concert production and community organizing. She began producing charity concerts featuring local bands for campus organizations like Students for a Free Tibet, and led drum circles in the infamous “Tripping Fields” behind the college where some of the greatest names in music once played, including the Grateful Dead, Frank Zappa, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. With her college located just thirty miles from the town of Woodstock, Hava soaked up the culture and spirit that continued to permeate the region many decades later. She collaborated with local musicians, pulled all-nighters with her guitar around campfires, and earned herself the nickname, FireMusicFaerie. After college, Aliza began performing at and co-producing concerts at the United Nations headquarters in NYC. She earned a position as Chair of the UN International Day of Peace NGO Music Committee and went on to produce live concerts on six continents in partnership with over forty civic society, governmental, and environmental organizations. While living part-time in the Middle East, Hava represented UN-related peacebuilding initiatives and worked with Israeli and Palestinian musicians promoting peace and dialogue through music. She went on to produce the internationally live-streamed concert, Harmony in the Holy Land. This extraordinary event united Muslim, Christian, and Jewish musicians in a universal, musical prayer for peace from the heart of Jerusalem. Watching Palestinians and Israelis meet as strangers and part ways as friends, Aliza felt the reaffirmation of her calling to build bridges through the healing power of music. Hava has recently finished recording a new album at the iconic Revolver Recording Studios in Thousand Oaks, CA, produced by multi-platinum, Grammy winner Mikal Blue, who is best known for his work with Colbie Callait, Jason Mraz, and OneRepublic. The album is expected in Spring 2024 and features bassist Dean Dinning of Toad the Wet Sprocket as musical arranger and on bass/keys, and Gregg Bissonette (Ringo Starr, Santana) on drums. Her latest single, When the Children Cry, is a cover of White Lion's soulful ballad, and its message of peace is even more poignant today than it was when originally released in the late 80s. This song resonates through the generations with a message of healing and hope for the children of the world. In addition to writing her own music, Aliza collaborates with artists and songwriters and is a co-writer on Grammy-Award-winning artist Macy Gray's upcoming EP, produced by Mikal Blue. Throughout her journeys, Aliza has shared bills with world-class artists such as Dr. John, Michael Franti, Zac Brown Band, Rising Appalachia, and more. She has performed in the U.S., Canada, India, Morocco, Egypt, Italy, Australia, Jordan, Israel, and South Korea. With an inherent message of peace and universal love, Aliza considers her music and work a form of sacred activism. Her songs embody the power of music to uplift the mind, body, and soul while staying true to the ongoing practice of reclaiming our natural state. At 21, he pours so much of himself into his music, you cannot ignore the fact that you are in the presence of an artist at the top of his game. The singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist produces simply astounding pop and rock songs infused with intricate guitar work and a voice that passionately tells his own story. Combining the pop sensibilities of Justin Timberlake and Ed Sheeran with the rock influences of John Mayer, he is not a carbon copy of anyone else and marches to the beat of his own drum.  That well-earned reputation has seen him become part of the songwriting team behind iconic TV shows such as Baywatch TV and Baywatch Hawaii, and two of his songs were included in the feature film TIME TOYS. It is therefore a natural progression that he has come to the attention of legendary producer Mikal Blue who has worked with One Republic, Jason Mraz, Five For Fighting, and Colbie Caillat. ● Media Inquiries: Amanda Blide Executive Director of Publicity TREND: PR | Branding | Social Media www.TrendPR.com

With April being Stress Awareness Month, country's fresh new face Erin Cosgrove is talking about her own experience with anxiety and mental health, how she copes, how this helped her write her latest release Time To Live and why it is so important to bring awareness to the subject.   Stress Awareness Month is a time to bring awareness to what causes our stress and how we can keep ourselves healthy mentally. “I was in a serious state of depression for 6 months, basically it started as soon as the pandemic started. The stress of everything happening in the world really made my mental state decline,” says Erin. “What helped me most was writing music. Out of all the chaos came my single Time To Live, which was my way of releasing my emotions into a song and telling myself and others that everything will be okay. I wanted to give people as well as myself a sense of hope and inspire people to continue to live their lives rather than hide in fear.”   Throughout the month of April, Erin hopes to encourage those who also may be struggling. She shares that it is incredibly important to recognize the things in your life that are causing you stress, but on the other hand, it is just as important to find those healthy ways to deal with it. “Set aside time every day to put yourself first. I'm an advocate for listening to your own body, taking slow deep breaks, setting routines and short-term goals to start off the day with an accomplishment.”   Stress continues to build for her in another aspect of her life as she gets ready to move over two thousand miles away and relocating from her hometown in CA to Nashville this summer. “I'm so excited to be making this move. Yes, it's very stressful when it comes to packing everything up, including traveling with two cats and a dog. While I do love living in CA, it's time for me to make that move to Nashville to continue doing what I love.”   As Erin gears up to release a lyric video for this song, scheduled to come out later this month, she shares one more perception on the meaning of this song. “Anxiety and depression can happen to anyone regardless of their situation and everyone handles pain differently. In all, be kind to others, there's always hope. It's Time To Live.” Visit Erin Cosgrove at her website and follow along with her on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Her song Time To Live is available on all digital platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and more. For more info on stress and ways to cope, visit www.stress.org.   About Erin Cosgrove: Breakthrough country artist Erin Cosgrove has it all. Based in Los Angeles and Nashville, this powerhouse singer, songwriter and actress has made a name for herself with a great social media following. Teaming up with Grammy winning producer Mikal Blue, Erin released her second single The Perfect Place to Start, which became an overnight hit, gaining over 15k Spotify streams in just the first week and premiered on Sirius XM The Highway. She is also an aspiring actress, having appeared in the hit TV show “Parenthood,” along with “Good Girls Revolt,” and USA's reality show “Summer Camp.” Erin has opened for some of the biggest names in country music including A Thousand Horses, Big & Rich, Danielle Bradbery, Love & Theft and Russell Dickerson. She has performed at numerous festivals including the Oakheart Country Music Festival, Paddy Fest and Round Up Country Music Festival in CA as well as performing at the Daytona 500, the Tampa Bay Rays Baseball Stadium and the House of Blues. Whether she's writing, performing, or acting, she feels most at home in front of a crowd or camera.
