I cloistered myself in an American yoga ashram (monastery), where Ibegan the formal training of my spiritual learning. I was fortunate to get a job as a resident host in abeautiful YMCA camp at the very lake where the lightning had struck my tentseven years earlier. I followed my path as a music teacher, trumpet player, andcomposer, and while conducting a symphonic work of mine, met my future wife,who was a clarinetist; we married eleven months later. I was hired to teachmusic and yoga at a school for emotionally disturbed children a few miles fromthe YMCA camp and began to teach evening yoga and meditation classes there aswell. My adult yogastudents and I then established the American Yoga Conservatory to teach yoga ona deeper level, free from external Indian cultural trappings. In December 1984,my wife and I learned that we were expecting a child. The Conservatory lost itslease, and I had my first channeled reading by the entity Hemetro, who laterwould reveal himself as one of my three principal guides. I was made aware of mistakes in the structure of my teachingvehicle (the Conservatory) and immediately began the process of releasing thatfrom my life. I traveled to the Soviet Union in May 1985 with 80 other yogis,artists, teachers, actors, authors, and clergy to establish grassroots contactwith Russian counterparts. Upon returning home, I secured a job as a musicteacher in the New York City suburb of Mahwah, New Jersey.Our first child was born that August, and a new chapter ofmy life - that of a father - began in earnest, all the while attempting toserve humanity through music and my love of children. He grew up in the German Democratic Republic undera Communist ruling government. Bernd attended the Technische Universität inChemnitz, Saxony, Germany, and graduated with a Master's Degree in MechanicalEngineering, with a focus on Manufacturing Process Design and Computer-AidedManufacturing. Very early in his life, he began to show an interest in Germanhistory, music, and modern information technology. When the Berlin Wall,separating East and West Berlin, fell on November 9, 1989, his world radicallychanged - an event that allowed him to embark on a personal journey, eventuallyleading him to move to Phoenix, Arizona, where he lives today.Bernd's move to the United States connects him with Fritzwho served many months in an American POW camp in 1945-1946 after WWII ended.The - what could be called: The Häber Family Trilogy - link between him and hisgrandfather is Bernd's father Herbert Häber who had climbed up in the hierarchyof the East German Communist Party, the SED, and later became a member of thePolitburo in 1984, the political body composed of the highest officials of theparty, state, and security organs. In 1985, Herbert was expelled from thePolitburo due to a staged high-level plot against him. After Germanreunification in 1990, Herbert was indicted and prosecuted for being allegedlyresponsible, as a Politburo member, for some of the killings at the BerlinWall. He faced two related criminal trials at the District Court of Berlinbetween 1995 and 2004.Bernd is the author of several books, such as "LettersTo and From My Senators FLAKE and MCCAIN: How they might have failed to fulfilltheir constitutional obligation", "Tempest - 20th Anniversary",and "The Wondrous Story of Hugo and Matilda". Bernd co-led theSpanish Civil War history project together with Björn Krondorfer - Director,Martin-Springer Institute at the Northern Arizona University called"Stories from the Spanish Civil War" which includes Bernd's greatuncle (and brother-in-law of Fritz) and other International Brigades volunteersfrom the United States, the UK and Canada.

Based on a truestory set in Karl's hometown of Austin, Texas, this film will be a darklycomedic true-crime drama with a ton of heart and an underlying social message. Karl's short film, "Man on the Tower", screened atnumerous film festival and won a Remi Award for best short film at WorldfestHouston in 2021. Based on actual events, it tells the story of some young kidswitnessing the 1966 Charles Whitman mass shooting from their back yard inAustin, Texas. Karl's debut feature film, LOOKING FOR THE JACKALOPE, based on atrue story, won both Jury and Audience Awards for Best U.S. Feature at the 2017Austin Revolution Film Festival. Distributed by Indie Rights Movies, it is nowavailable on Amazon and many other platforms. Karl wrote another screenplaycalled THE HUNTERS, also based on a true story, which was a Semifinalist in the2015 Nicholl Fellowships Screenplay Competition and a TOP 50 SCRIPT.
