Kate Flannery and Oscar Nuñez had a mini "Office" reunion on last night's season finale of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" and went ALL THE WAY! (You'd know them as Meredith and Oscar on the show.) They even called up Brian Baumgartner (Kevin) for their "Phone-a-Friend" lifeline. As for the million-dollar question? "The word 'planet' comes from an ancient Greek word that literally means what?" Their options were "powerful," "immortal," "stranger," and "wanderer" . . . the answer being "wanderer". Kate and Oscar will be splitting their winnings between Planned Parenthood and a Philadelphia-based food bank called Philabundance. Fresh off Coachella comes Stagecoach! Katie Couric pokes fun at Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle ad in a new PSA for colon cancer screenings. The clip opens to a close-up of Katie wearing a jean jacket, and quickly pans out to show she's wearing a hospital gown underneath, and she's on a gurney getting ready for a colonoscopy. She tells the camera, quote, "Speaking of genes. Did you know that the majority of people who develop colon cancer are not genetically predisposed to the disease? That's why doctors recommend everyone 45 and older get checked." Katie told "People" magazine, quote, "That ad showed how pop culture and a pair of jeans could really shape the cultural conversation, it was everywhere. It was a moment in time, and we thought, 'Why don't we ride that horse a little bit longer and have some fun with it?'" It'sbeen 25 years since Katie became the first person in history to broadcast a colonoscopy on national TV. She lost her husband to colon cancer in 1998. He was only 42. One of the most famous homes in American history is opening its doors to the public for the first time ever. The "Brady Bunch" house in North Hollywood will be accessible to fans on November 7th, 8th, and 9th. And while bookings are sold out, you can register to be on a waitlist, or be notified if additional dates become available. When the show was in production back in the day, the house was only used for EXTERIOR shots. The inside of the Brady home was created on a soundstage, and the inside of the actual house looked nothing like it. But HGTV bought the house in 2018, and renovated it so that it DOES match the house from the show. And of course, they recorded it for a series called "A Very Brady Renovation". Grammy-winning artist Colbie Caillat sits down for an intimate conversation about the winding road from MySpace sensation to seasoned songwriter. With her trademark warmth and authenticity, she reveals how music was always coursing through her veins—singing at the top of her lungs every morning as a child and eventually being guided toward songwriting by her father's wisdom that it would "be more meaningful."The conversation takes us through the unexpected explosion of "Bubbly" that catapulted her career, to touring with John Mayer in 2009, to her transformative relationship with vulnerability on stage. "I was taught to try to be extroverted and don't let anyone know that you're nervous," Colbie shares, describing how writing "Try" became the turning point that freed her from hiding her true self. "I just tell the audience everything on stage now. It feels so nice."Colbie's upcoming album "This Time Around" (releasing September 26th) reimagines her greatest hits as duets with artists including Maren Morris, Hillary Scott, Walker Hayes, and Mitchell Tenpenny—many of whom had personal connections to her songs before the collaboration. "Mitchell was so cute because when I asked him to sing on 'Realize,' he's like 'that's my favorite song, I sang it in high school,'" she recalls with genuine delight. The album also features three new original songs, including one written with Lee Brice and another featuring Maddie & Tae.Whether discussing the creative process behind her Grammy-winning duet "Lucky" with Jason Mraz, her Christmas tour with best friend Gavin DeGraw, or the first song she ever wrote ("Someday," which she plans to release someday), Colbie's reflections on her journey offer wisdom for creators at any stage: "Trust yourself and have fun with it and really embrace who you are." This week on Diving In Deep, Sara is joined by Grammy-winning musician, Colbie Caillat! In this candid conversation, Colbie shares her experiences on the road, the challenges of touring, and her evolving relationship with music. From life on a tour bus to her love for Nashville, Colbie gets real about balancing her career, personal growth, and what's next for her. The two of them also dive deep into Colbie's musical sound and what has shaped her music career. This is another episode you don't want to miss! Listen to Unbroke: (https://ffm.to/seunbroke) About Colbie Caillat: Colbie Caillat is a singer-songwriter born under the California sun. When she wasn't busy taking voice lessons or studying piano, she spent her youth hanging with Fleetwood Mac as her father coproduced their landmark “Rumours” album. When she grew up, Caillat began posting her impeccably crafted tunes to MySpace and became one of the social media network's most popular unsigned talents. Zipping up the charts in 2007, her breezy pop hit “Bubbly” placed her smack in the middle of a new generation of singer/songwriters creating modern beach music rich in feel-good hooks and warm acoustic tones. To date, Caillat has earned two GRAMMY Awards, five nominations, and more than 15 billion streams. Yet Caillat—whose instantly recognizable voice is as versatile as it is heartfelt—wasn't about to be pigeonholed. In the late 2010s, Caillat made a bold decision to relocate to Nashville, where she dove headfirst into the world of country pop. Its gloriously sunny harmonies were proof that this artist would always have California in her soul. In this episode of the Journey of My Mother's Son podcast, I sit down again and talk with my friend, Aliza Hava. Aliza is making her second appearance on the show. We first spoke back in January and talked about the healing power that music has. Feel free to listen to that conversation by clicking here. In this episode, we really focus on talking about her new album that is scheduled to be released in the coming months. “Into the Light.” This album is deeply personal for Aliza. She has used music to help her overcome the trauma of an abusive childhood. It was a healing journey for her, and she hopes that it can be used by others in their own healing journeys. The album was produced by multi-platinum Grammy-winner Mikal Blue, who is best known for his work with Colbie Caillat, Jason Mraz, and OneRepublic. The album is a body of work, which features ten songs that take the listener on a soulful journey from darkness, "Into the Light." We also talk about the benefits and challenges of being an independent artist, the ever-changing technology of streaming and how it affects the music industry as a whole. Follow Aliza's crowdfunding campaign by clicking here so you'll be notified when it goes LIVE! To find out more about Aliza and her music, check out her website at https://www.alizahava.com/.

We also discuss the film's monumental soundtrack, sung by Whitney herself, an album that remains the best selling gospel record of all time. On our latest weekly roundup, we are once again grateful that we don't have to deal with all the logistics surrounding high school events (even though we have a front-row seat to some of them). What we're watching: On Only Murders in the Building's "Thirty" (episode 9), the trio started to close in on Ben's killer (killers?). We were quite proud of some of the predictions and connections we made last week, as well as those discussed over on Drinks with Broads, the Substack from the Fug Girls. We also did get the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars after all, and found it enjoyable even at two and a half hours long. So many dances! Mentioned: Jason Mraz's songs "Lucky" (featuring Colbie Caillat) and "I'm Yours."Catherine's library find this week highlights the cozy mystery phenomenon, especially the punnily titled food-themed books. There's one for everyone! In the archives, we revisit episodes in which we discussed what cheers us up (October 8, 2020), Apple Watch features for parents (October 7, 2019, and October 6, 2022), and children's books we've loved and loathed (October 2, 2015).We'll be back with a new episode next Tuesday. Our TV watch will cover S3 E10 of Only Murders in the Building (“Opening Night,” the finale!) and "Latin Night" on Dancing with the Stars. This week on License to Chill, Ryan and Patrick are joined by Colbie Caillat. Together, they talk about finding success at a young age, owning your presence on-stage and her famous, spoken-word line in Bubbly: "will you count me in?"
If you grew up anything like me, singer/songwriter Colbie Caillat was ALL OVER your first iPod. After blowing up with her debut single, “Bubbly,” Colbie became a voice for the singers and dreamers of my generation and has since topped 15 billion streams, 2 Grammys, and is releasing her 7th solo album October of 2023. What we love about her new album, besides that it's in the country genre this go ‘round, is how rich, raw, and vulnerable the record is as she takes us through the journey of grieving and healing forward after the end of her decades-long engagement. The tension she's learned and teaches us to hold between missing and cherishing past loves as well as embracing new seasons “Wide Open” is an invitation for listeners to live wholly human – in the hurt, the hope, and everything else Along the Way, as the album is so aptly titled. Join me, Colbie, and our dear friend Rahaf on this week's episode to get their insights on letting go, living openhanded, and loving yourself. Corey Hunley is a natural-born entertainer, just a guy passing through life with a guitar in his hand and a song in his head. He has been fortunate enough to share the stage with renowned musicians like Marty Stuart, Darrell Scott, Will Hoge, John Hiatt, Paul Thorn, Colbie Caillat, Uncle Kracker, and a few other cool folks. As a singer-songwriter, Corey possesses the ability to captivate his audience. He's not only a good singer but also a helluva songwriter and an all-around fine guitarist. Corey's music has a way of making you want to drink harder, love stronger, and live longer.
2000s music icon Colbie Caillat helps us kick off season 2 of Main Pod Girl with a discussion about her upcoming country album, Along the Way, coming out October 6th! We also play a game of First Time for Everything and list our Top 5 Duets. Guest hosted by Molly Suter.
Barry and Abigail discuss We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. by Jason Mraz and sample Lucky Strikes, Echoes of Sacrificial Voices, and Basking In the Glow from Petty Thieves Brewing Co. in Charlotte, North Carolina. We want to thank Barry's college and medical school colleague, Dr. Michael McCrohan, for helping us obtain this fabulous beer, and for his “contribution to the arts.” Lucky Strikes is a collaboration with Cabarrus Brewing Co in Concord, North Carolina. The names of the beers we sampled today reminded Abigail of the names of the beers we sampled at Burial Beer Company in Asheville, North Carolina: Prophetmaker, A Canvas of Fragmented Memoirs, A Space For Sacrilege, and Of A Fading Season. Listen to our full episode at Burial, Consumers of the Barley (The Raconteurs and Burial Beer Co.). We make a lot of comparisons to Andy Grammer by Andy Grammer, which we reviewed in our episode Mind Your Grammer (Andy Grammer and Deadwords Brewing). Watch one of the TikToks Abigail referenced poking fun at artists including “raw audio” in their songs. Your Love is My Drug by Kesha is a great example of this phenomenon. Lucky features Colbie Caillat, whose song I Do appears on our family playlist of favorite love songs from 2011. Abigail's choice on that playlist was The Bird and the Worm by Owl City, and Barry's was Maybe I'm Amazed by Paul McCartney. Abigail contends that Butterfly is no more explicit than Swimming In Your Ocean by Crash Test Dummies. Listen to our full discussion of Crash Test Dummies, Pops Shuffled His Feet (Crash Test Dummies and Toll Road Brewing). Details in the Fabric features James Morrison. We shared a little bit of his song Under the Influence. Up next… Four by Blues Traveler Jingles are by our friend Pete Coe. Visit Anosmia Awareness for more information on Barry's condition.
