British blues guitarist, singer-songwriter and Blues Hall of Fame inductee Will Johns has just released his sixth studio album, On Top of the World, and this September he'll publish his deeply personal memoir, Bluesdaddy: Born into Noise, Raised on Chaos and Saved by the Blues. The title says it all. Will was born into one of rock music's most legendary families. He's the son of famed producer and engineer Andy Johns, whose work can be heard on classic albums by Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones. His uncle is legendary producer and engineer Glyn Johns. His mother is Paula Boyd, making him the nephew of Pattie Boyd and Jenny Boyd. That also meant that George Harrison, Eric Clapton and even Mick Fleetwood were family. In fact, Eric wasn't just one of the greatest guitarists in history—he was Uncle Eric, and the man who inspired Will to play guitar. But Bluedayddy isn't a story about celebrity. It's a story about growing up surrounded by brilliance and addiction, fame and dysfunction, and ultimately finding salvation through the blues. Today, Will has built an impressive legacy of his own. He's been nominated for Best Original Blues Song at the British Blues Awards three years in a row, was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in Chicago in 2025, is currently touring with The Cream of Clapton Band, and this September he'll also perform at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Texas. In November 1965, four young musicians—including future Fleetwood Mac founders Peter Green and Mick Fleetwood—reported seeing a mysterious figure beside the A3 near Cobham, Surrey, while driving home from a rhythm-and-blues gig. Drawing on contemporary witness statements, Dr A. R. G. Owen's scientific investigation, newspaper reports, and the history of Cobham's ghost traditions, this podcast separates documented evidence from later folklore. The podcast is lo-fi, recorded in one take wanders off the point and there are continuing microphone problems.

We stayed in Winnemucca last night and drove to Elko, Nevada, ate at a Basque restaurant, pretty good Basque lunch, apparently there’s a big Basque population in Elko, Nevada. I think there is in Winnemucca as well. We looked for a dive bar last night and we walked around, we were a little bit afraid 00:02:23 walking in the dark but we managed to make it back alive. The first place we were going to go to was the Butch Cassidy Hole in the Wall, Butch Cassidy Waterhole in the Wall, something like that. It looked shitty, it had fluorescent lights, so we said, ah, we’ll look for somewhere else, maybe we’ll go to the casino and on the way to the casino we found the perfect dive bar. 00:02:45 I don’t remember what it was called, do you remember what it was called? Something tap room, but they didn’t have any tap, oh, the Cheers Tap Room, but there was no tap, it was just a dive bar. That was a really good dive bar, so we had a good time, we had a few drinks and then came back to the room, left this morning and stopped in Elko, Nevada, had lunch, where we parked there was a strip club, it said, I forget what the name of it was, but it said Dancing and Diddling, and we’re like, what’s diddling, I don’t know what that means, I 00:03:25 know what diddling means, it means, isn’t diddling when you put your finger down there on the girl and you mess around with her, and I said, oh, huh, okay, it’s a joke, then I looked to the left and there’s a legal brothel right across the street and then there’s an Asian legal brothel right next to that, one was called Ann’s, what was it called, Mona’s what, Mona’s Dollhouse or something like that, Mona’s Ranch, and then there was Anna’s Ranch, 00:03:59 one had Chinese lanterns hanging out of it, hanging outside, and the other one didn’t. Eric Clapton had achieved pop success with The Yardbirds but that's not what he wanted. All Eric wanted to do was play the blues. So he left The Yardbirds to join John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers where through many miles and many gigs honed a guitar sound & style that would create a mythology around Clapton like no guitar player before. Their gigs must see happenings as once they were into a groove, the Bluesbreakers could improvise their way into something spectacular. John Mayall wanted to capture that live energy and creativity on an album but their first attempt (with bassist Jack Bruce who would figure into Clapton's story later) was not up to par. So they went to Decca Studios and worked to capture the best bits of their live set. Eric doesn't just take off, he does seem to build throughout the record just as he might during a live show. And John Mayall does take the spotlight as the lead singer, solid piano/organ man and a cool harmonica player. John McVie (who would eventually break from Mayall to form Fleetwood Mac with future drummer Mick Fleetwood) holds down the bass and Hughie Flint keeps it steady on the drums leaving room for Mayall and Clapton to do their thing. Though Mayall contributes some originals, they borrow from blues legends like Freddie King, Little Walter, Memphis Slim and Robert Johnson. On Johnson's Ramblin' on My Mind Clapton offers his first attempt at singing lead, something he was reluctant to do throughout his career but John nudged him. Clapton's playing was groundbreaking at the time and his reputation as a master of the guitar built rapidly. Graffiti popped up around London - Clapton is God. The Wolf & Action Jackson try their best to imagine what it must have been like to hear Eric play live at that time. Because they've never known a world with Eric Clapton and when they got to know him he was 40. Plus, they'd heard all the hot shots that had come after Clapton over the decades. We've always appreciated Clapton's tone and playing but trying to put our minds in a place where hearing anything like this was brand new was the challenge. It may not be as mind blowing as it was 60 years ago but it's still some rock solid blues by a guy at 20 years old who would define the blues (certainly for white folks) for the next half century. It started as an abandoned ukulele on a wall. Afar's Aislyn Greene hadn't touched it in two years — but that idle instrument sent her down a rabbit hole into one of the most joyful origin stories in music. The ukulele arrived in Hawai'i on a Portuguese immigrant ship in 1878, got a royal endorsement from a king and queen, fell into obscurity, and then took over the world. Along the way, a family of master craftsmen has been hand-finishing every instrument for over a century, and one of the greatest string players alive still can't believe people underestimate it. Meet today's guests Roy Sakuma is a musician, educator, and founder of Roy Sakuma Ukulele Studios, Hawaii's most famous ukulele school with four locations. In 1971, he launched the Ukulele Festival Hawai'i, now the state's top summer event, and has spent 50 years making the case that the ukulele is no toy. Chris Kamaka is the third-generation owner of Kamaka Ukulele, the oldest continuous ukulele manufacturer in the world, founded in Honolulu in 1916. Each of the 1,000–1,500 ukuleles they produce annually is hand-played by Chris before it leaves the shop. Jake Shimabukuro is a virtuoso musician widely regarded as the greatest ukulele player alive. He has sold out concert halls worldwide and recently collaborated with Mick Fleetwood on a Blues album. Marvel is definitely feeling the pain. While this movie made nearly $400 million, that's peanuts compared to the glory days of Avengers: Endgame. It suffered from the same problem as Captain America: Brave New World: it just felt like reheated leftovers from a saga that ended years ago. Aside from Superman, it looks like superhero fatigue has officially set in. 1. Snow Whitea. This was the exception to the rule that Disney remakes print money. It didn't even make back its budget. The movie had an identity crisis—trying to be both a classic recreation and a subversive twist—but the real killer was the PR nightmare. Between the casting controversies and political debates, the movie was "covered in mud" before it even hit theaters. 1. Mickey 17a. Everyone was dying to see what director Bong Joon Ho would do after Parasite. The problem? We waited too long. After endless delays, the hype died. When it finally dropped in February, reviews called it "toothless" and confused. Even Robert Pattinson couldn't save this sci-fi epic from being a disappointment. 1. After the Hunta. You'd think Julia Roberts and the director of Call Me by Your Name would be a slam dunk. Nope. It made less than $10 million globally (which is like, half of Roberts' salary). The movie was too long, too rambling, and felt more like a streaming series than a cinema event. 1. Christya. Sydney Sweeney is everywhere, but apparently, that doesn't guarantee box office sales. Her boxing biopic had one of the worst opening weekends ever for a wide release. It seems social media fame doesn't always translate to ticket sales. Sweeney defended it, saying she made it for "impact," not numbers, which is good, because the numbers were bad. 1. I Know What You Did Last Summera. Studios thought they could pull a Scream with this 90s revival. The issue? People actually love Scream. Nobody really cares about "The Fisherman" or the original 1997 film enough to show up for a legacy sequel. 1. Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowherea. Jeremy Allen White played The Boss, but audiences didn't show up. Why? Because the movie focused on a depressing, quiet period of Bruce Springsteen's life where he moped around a bedroom recording acoustic tracks. People wanted the stadium anthems and energy, not the gloom. 1. Elio a. Pixar had a huge win with Inside Out 2, but Elio brought them back down to earth. The original director left mid-production, and the final product felt like a movie with no reason to exist. It was hard to explain the plot, and audiences just didn't connect with the aliens. 1. M3GAN 2.0a. The first M3GAN was a viral hit because it was campy, slasher fun. The sequel failed because it tried to pivot into a sprawling, geopolitical action thriller. The producers admitted they overthought it—they should have just given the people more of the killer doll they loved. 1. The Smashing Machinea. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson really wants an Oscar. He teamed up with Emily Blunt and an indie director for this gritty MMA drama. But here's the thing: nobody goes to a Rock movie to be depressed. It was a bleak story about addiction, and audiences preferred to stay home. On September 5, 1973, the first and only Buckingham Nicks album was released. It wasn't a huge hit, but it was how the world was first introduced to the music of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, before they went on to become members of Fleetwood Mac. Their time together in Fleetwood Mac led to some of the best-selling, most critically acclaimed, and most influential albums of all time. Their individual talents, their musical chemistry together, and the ups and downs of their romantic relationship all eventually became legendary. And yet, despite all that, the Buckingham Nicks album went out of print not long after it came out. For over 50 years, it wasn't available, until it finally got re-mastered and re-released in September 2025. So for this episode, I spoke to both Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham about the making of one of the songs from that album, called “Frozen Love.” It's the only song on the album where they're credited as co-writers, and it's the song that led Mick Fleetwood to invite Lindsey Buckingham to join Fleetwood Mac. But Lindsey would only join if Stevie could, too, and that's how that story began. So this episode is about a beginning and an ending. It's the story of how Stevie and Lindsey first met, and how they made "Frozen Love," and how that song really led to the end of their band. I also want to mention that not only was Buckingham Nicks out of print for all those decades, no one has heard the isolated tracks that you're about to hear. To make this episode, there was an epic search for the original master tape from Sound City, the studio where they recorded the album with producer Keith Olsen. It took months, but the tape was finally tracked down and digitized, and it feels very special to be able to present this for the first time here, along with the memories and stories from Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. The only studio album recorded by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks as a duo is being re-issued for the very first time TODAY. Originally released in 1973 and recorded at Sound City Studios, this record introduced the duo’s incomparable harmonies alongside their individual styles. The re-issue is sourced from the original analog master tapes and was produced by Keith Olsen. In 1974, while Mick Fleetwood was scouting for a new studio for Fleetwood Mac’s next album, he visited Sound City Studios where Olsen shared “Frozen Love” to showcase both his production work and the studio’s sound. Soon after, Fleetwood Mac found themselves in need of a new guitarist. Remembering “Frozen Love,” Fleetwood reached out to offer Buckingham the spot, but Buckingham insisted he and Nicks were a package deal. The rest is history.

Established in 1983, the nonprofit supports students, teachers, and district initiatives through scholarships, teacher awards, and funding for classroom needs. Kraus, a former teacher and administrator, aims to expand the foundation’s impact across the district. With over $2 million awarded in scholarships and endowments, the foundation continues to grow, supporting the community with a focus on educational excellence and service to Marietta City Schools. STORY 2: Cobb, cities to meet over new sales tax referendum The Cobb Board of Commissioners will meet with mayors of the county’s seven cities this week to discuss the 2028 SPLOST referendum, a 1% sales tax funding infrastructure projects. Each city will present its project priorities, with a focus on roads, transportation, and community needs. The current SPLOST, collecting $750 million, ends in 2027. A draft project list is due by October, with public feedback sessions in early 2026. Voters will decide on the package in November 2026. Officials aim to address rising costs and ensure impactful projects to gain voter support. STORY 3: Cobb to consider in-house paramedic program The Cobb Board of Commissioners will vote on an agreement with MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service to establish an in-house paramedic program at Cobb Fire & Emergency Services. The program aims to double the number of paramedics trained annually, expanding care and serving as a recruitment tool. Limited to employees of Cobb Fire or MetroAtlanta, the program will cost $650 per student, significantly less than typical tuition. Cobb Fire will provide classroom space and instructors, while MetroAtlanta oversees accreditation and enrollment. Proposed solutions include raising the millage rate, eliminating commissioners’ $200,000 contingency funds, maintaining a 5% water revenue transfer, cutting $1 million in public safety overtime, and shifting 0.05 mills from the fire fund to the general fund. The budget doesn’t account for 290 new staff requests, costing $27.8 million, while the county still has 468 vacant positions, primarily in police, fire, and water departments. Testing helps prevent HIV through tools like PrEP and condoms or enables rapid treatment for those who test positive. Cobb County, identified as a high-incidence area, is part of a federal initiative to end HIV by 2030. Free OraQuick self-test kits are also available for pick-up or delivery. Started by veterans of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, early Fleetwood Mac were a blues based band with limited success on the US Billboard chart. By 1975, they had lost their main singer, lead guitarist and main songwriter in Bob Welch and remaining members Christine McVie, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood were on the search for a spark. While working at Sunset Studios, they heard the debut album from a duo that was also a couple, Buckingham Nicks. Though at first they were interested in hiring on Lindsey Buckingham as their singer and guitarist, they soon found out that he would only join if they took his singer/songwriter girlfriend Stevie Nicks as well. The rest is pop/rock history as the 1975 product of the five piece, Fleetwood Mac, would go on to sell over 7 million copies in the US alone. Now with three lead singers/songwriters in the band, they could choose the best of the best for inclusion on the record. While the choices for singles didn't always make sense (Warm Ways was the 1st UK single, World Turning wasn't released as a single), the chemistry did and the world heard harmonies that were unknown before. While Christine McVie held her own with lilting love songs (Warm Ways, Over My Head, Say You Love Me), Lindsey Buckingham offered more upbeat rockers like Monday Morning and the brooding So Afraid. However, the real star in the making was Stevie Nicks who turned the album's and the band's fortunes with her all-time classic Rhiannon. It really introduced the world to Stevie Nicks and the power she possessed in her voice and songwriting. She also offered the sweet Landslide, another track on this album that would go on to be a rock radio staple and part of their live show. The success of Fleetwood Mac gave them the opportunity to release Rumours in 1977, an album that would sell over 40 million copies worldwide. But this album laid the groundwork for Rumours and all the future success for the band for the next 50 years. Fleetwood Mac's iconic breakup album ‘Rumours' hit No.1 on the U.S. album charts on April 2nd, 1977, and has never really left the public consciousness since. With banger after banger—Dreams, Go Your Own Way, The Chain—it resonated across generations, but perhaps especially with the band's boomer contemporaries, many experiencing troubled relationships of their own. At the time of its recording in California, Mick Fleetwood was reeling from a collapsed marriage, John and Christine McVie were divorcing, and Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham were locked in an emotional war, with Nicks soon to embark upon a relationship with Fleetwood. Recording Rumours was a year-long endurance test.
