The pledge will be matched by race organisers and his team Euskaltel - Euskadi. Mate has seen first hand the damage that wild fires can do after his home town was badly affected last year. It will be particularly poignant when he rides through the town on the 12th stage of this years race. He's been explaining his passion for the environment and how he believes "bikes will save the world". Hoffmann explains what he has discovered and how he has adapted his lifestyle and diet in an attempt to manage his condition. He now intends to open a retreat in order to help others. In the meantime the now 32-year old who recently played a number of tournaments, hasn't ruled out a return to professional golf too Arsenal legend Paul Davis talks about his new book Arsenal and After. The book covers the midfielder's career on and off the pitch and once his playing days were over. We hear about the importance of black role models to his success and how he was affected by racism inside and outside of the game. Morgan Hoffmann is a professional golfer on the PGA Tour with a passion for wellness, sports, the outdoors, and aviation. Having recently been diagnosed with Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSH-MD), Morgan decided to follow his intuition, tap into his competitive mindset, and go ALL IN on his healing journey to find a cure for the incurable.  From the peaks of the Himalayas to the jungles of Costa Rica, Morgan shares with us all the challenges he has faced, the modalities he has experimented with, and the “aha's" he has discovered along the way.  And while his healing takes 100% of his commitment and focus, he has still managed to find time to create the Morgan Hoffmann Foundation with the intention to use his platform as a pro athlete to help others. The Foundation's mission is to create a virtual and physical, naturalistic health and wellness space; dedicated to helping those suffering from debilitating diseases and other ailments. Today, I sit with Morgan in an emotional conversation that had us both in tears.  We discuss how a big part of healing is a reconnection to ourselves and nature, and that SO much more is possible when you believe it and you go all in to achieve it. Brad's connection to the pod runs deep - he was high school teammates with Charlie.  Also, he has crossed paths with Michael Calkin - Augie's high school teammate - former and future guest of the pod.  Brad is not all about that dice game though... prefers to let his golf game pad the wallet. Brad played college golf at Oklahoma State, which has a lengthy history of eventual pros, including Rickie, and teammates with "the legend of Drew Page"... mini series to come.  Brad shares a great freshman story when the brick wall Morgan Hoffmann takes Brad to the woodshed. Brad is currently a member of PGA TOUR Latinoamerica - he has played there for the past three years and is motivated to have an even more successful season and make a splash on the Web and big tour.  He discusses mini-tour life, the ups, the downs, the challenges, and funny memories. The boys do their usual beer talk, starting an intra-city rivalry between Lagunitas and Pipeworks.  They briefly discuss Phil's victory and preview the Valspar at Innisbrook.  And shut it down with their additions to the Cannonball Golf Pod playlist on Spotify. Kent Brown is a golf professional whose career and interest in the game spans more than fifty years.  His first coach and teacher was his father, who cut down a wooden-shafted five iron, for Kent, when he was only six.  His love and passion for the game came almost immediately.  Today he is often kidded by his friends as being one-dimensional.  It is however, his total commitment to his sport, and his life-long desire to improve, and help others to improve, that has set him apart as one of the top teachers in the country.  Even though Kent spends most of his time at junior golf tournaments, and teaching juniors, and adults alike; he has never stopped being a student of the game himself.  Kent feels privileged to have had opportunities for personal interaction with many industry leaders, top instructors, and PGA Tour professionals—most notably, Ben Hogan.  He currently serves on the Southern California PGA Advisory Committee. Kent played on his high school golf team before playing on scholarship at Cal State Long Beach, where he was  team captain and number-one player in his junior and senior years. After instructing golf in the US Army, Kent turned professional, and joined the mini-tour ranks.  He played competitive tournament golf for almost three years before accepting a position with the Ben Hogan Company in Ft Worth, Texas. It was there at the Ben Hogan Company, Kent continued his learning from the master. During his fifteen years with the Hogan Company, Kent became acquainted with tour player, and prominent golf instructor, Mac Ogrady.  It was under Mac’s watchful eye that Kent developed as a professional’s professional.  It was two years later, when long time friend, Dr. Tim Somerville, and Kent founded the now, world famous, Professional Golfers Career College, with campuses in Temecula, California, Orlando, Florida, and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  He served as Executive Director of the college for fifteen years, where he also taught Psychology of Golf, gave his students individual golf lessons, and taught them how to teach the game to others. After selling his interest in PGCC in 2005, Kent accepted a position with the International Junior Golf Tour as the West Coast Director.  In this role, he continues to teach and motivate the next generation of young players.   IJGT Quick FactsMission Statement: The mission of the International Junior Golf Tour is to provide exceptional junior golfers with the opportunity to develop and showcase their competitive skills while setting high standards to preserve the traditions and integrity of the game.First National Tournament Conducted: 1995National Headquarters: The IJGT National Headquarters is located on Hilton Head Island, South CarolinaTour Success: A few of the touring professionals that have competed on the IJGT Tour include; ·         Hunter Mahan, ·         Paula Creamer, ·         Morgan Pressel, ·         Rickie FowlerAmateur Success: 2009 Walker Cup Team, Morgan Hoffmann and Rickie FowlerMailing List: 5,408 plus an additional 1,600 from the Mexican Junior Golf FederationRegistered College Coaches: 300Staff: 7 full-time, 6 internsDemographic: Junior golfers range in age from 10 to 19 years old•       44 states and 32 countriesJunior Membership: Approximately 2,000 members annually (89% male / 11% female)Average No. of events played per member: 4.5Season: September – May, International events in June and July•       Summer 2010: 10 events currently being planned in AsiaNumber of Tournaments: 62 open / 5 InvitationalAverage Field Size: 84 players2009/2010 Course Highlights: TPC Sawgrass, Harbour Town, Kiawah Island, Greenbrier ResortAvila Beach Golf Resort - www.avilabeachresort.com Blacklake Golf Resort - www.blacklake.comInn at Avila Beach - www.avilabeachca.comAvila LaFonda Hotel - www.avilalafondahotel.comGolfland Warehouse - www.golflandwarehouse.comSlickstix - www.slickstix.comFor more information on Golf Talk Radio with Mike & Billy visit www.golftalkradio.com and visit www.centralcoasttoday.com for Golf Talk TV with Mike & Billy.
