A nursing home company cheated nearly 6,000 workers out of wages for years. The Department of Labor sued, went to trial and won $35.8 million. Then a federal appeals court ruled that federal wage law does not cover some of those unpaid hours and told workers to go find their own lawyer in state court to recover the rest. Israel isn't exactly known for golf. And with just one 18-hole course in the whole country, neither is it a destination for many pro golfers or passionate fans. That may be why it took until 2014 for the country to produce a player who qualified to join an LPGA Tour: Laetitia Beck. Since then, she's competed at the highest levels for her home country: at the Olympics, the Women's British Open, the LPGA and, of course, the Maccabiah, where she's won numerous gold medals. In all that time, she's proudly represented Israel, even displaying the Magen David on her golf shoes. Ukraine's military says it recently did major damage to Russian units looking to cross a key river in the northeastern part of the country, inflicting what it says were hundreds of casualties among Russian soldiers ... and a significant loss of armor and equipment. And yet the situation on the ground in both Eastern and Southern Ukraine hasn't changed much in recent days. The war has ground into a stalemate that neither side seems totally capable of winning ... and yet neither side is ready to make concessions. Meanwhile there's a possible fly in the ointment in what looked to be a sure-thing expansion of NATO, by welcoming Finland and Sweden into the alliance. Today Turkey's president raised concerns about allowing the two Nordic countries to join NATO under rushed timetables. Federal employees looking to appeal pay cuts or dismissals won't have to wait on the Merit Systems Protection Board much longer. The Senate last week confirmed two nominees to serve on the board, enough for the first quorum in more than five years. The board has a backlog of thousands of appeals cases, but also a few tools and strategies to tackle it. Federal News Network's Jory Heckman joined the Federal Drive with more.

The Fifth Circuit unanimously blocked the Mississippi law from going into effect because both cases bar states from banning abortion before fetal viability.
