Top 100 PGA Instructor Jon Tattersall Chats BMW PGA Championship, Presidents Cup, Tiger Woods, Scottie Scheffler, Cam Smith, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, LIV Golf & more The Birdies & Bourbon team had a blast chatting with PGA Instructor Jon Tattersall about the BMW PGA Championship. We chat through the history of the event, player field and what to expect this week. We also chat through PGA Tour Player of the Year, the FedEx Cup Playoffs and changes to the PGA Tour this coming season. The PGA Tour has made some great changes including money for players missing the cut which will help with travel expenses for up and coming talent on the PGA Tour. Then we get into some golf theory with the state of the game and the swing changes of Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth. We discuss Billy Horschel's setup and PGA Tour takes in the recent weeks. Rory McIlroy has become the face of the PGA Tour. Can he keep up his red hot play and continue to be the voice of the players on the tour against LIV Golf? John and Cal discuss Will Zalatoris and what to expect from him given the back injury and several missed events due to the injury. Jon talks the mental game and some training that he incorporates into his teachings. The new offseason will be a good aspect of the tour changes and will allow the players to compete better in the top events. It's always a fascinating conversation with Jon Tattersall on the state of the game and how he is approaching and updating strategies. In 1998 Jon moved to Atlanta, GA to open a learning center with GOLF Magazine Top 100 instructor and ABC commentator Gary Smith. In 2007 Jon co-founded Fusion ATL a sports performance facility designed to capture performance data and develop training protocols for the ardent golfer. Rick Gehman is joined by Kyle Porter, Jonathan Coachman and Greg DuCharme to recap Rory Mcilroy's historic victory at the 2022 Tour Championship. 0:00 - Rory McIlroy 28:00 - Scottie Scheffler 34:30 - Sungjae Im's Stellar Sunday 40:00 - LIV Golf News Looms 53:00 - Best Bets + One & Done One could not discuss the future of the PGA Tour this season without Rory McIlroy's name being on their lips. On Sunday at the 2022 Tour Championship, McIlroy reminded he's just as integral in the present. Despite trailing by as many as 10 shots at East Lake Golf Club in the final event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, McIlroy (-21) rallied Sunday to usurp world No. 1-ranked golfer Scottie Scheffler, become the first three-time winner in the history of the FedEx Cup and bank the $18 million first-place prize that comes with the trophy. Unlike some tournaments in which he digs himself into a hole from which he needs to fight out -- which he surely did by kicking off this event with a triple bogey Thursday -- McIlroy was in the conversation from the start at East Lake by posting 67s in consecutive rounds to open play. However, it was the third-round back nine that he concluded early Sunday that made him a true contender as Rory birdied three of his last six holes to card a 63 and claim his spot alongside Scheffler in the final pairing as he put pressure on the 54-hole leader despite a six-stroke deficit. The courtroom phase of the conflict between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour began last week with a win for the Tour: a federal judge denied an effort by LIV players to obtain a temporary restraining order that would have allowed them to take part in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. But the legal battle between the two golf leagues is far from over. To learn more about the LIV players' ongoing antitrust lawsuit and its prospects of success, Garrett Morrison talks to Gabe Feldman (@SportsLawGuy), a professor at Tulane University who specializes in antitrust and sports law and hosts the podcast Between the Lines. Gabe explains the legal basis of the players' claim against the PGA Tour, assesses the case's merits, and predicts where the litigation between LIV and the Tour might go next.

The US Amateur made hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell very happy when they announced a Seinfeld inspired group, making the host's favorite TV show sport collide in a monumental way (2:20). But the real news was at the WGC FedEx St Jude where Will Zalatoris finally was able to get a W, after a four hole playoff. Alex and Michael wonder if this will now open the floodgates for the 2-year PGA Tour player (4:01). Meanwhile in the courtroom, a trio of LIV golfers tried to make their way back into the FedEx Cup Playoffs, and while they were unsuccessful, the golfing world was graced with a whole lot of interesting information about the LIV contracts (6:59). Rumors continued to swirl as well around the next batch of golfers headed to the LIV Tour, including the world #2 golfer, Cam Smith (9:12). Big shoutout to a CoL past guest Taylor Montgomery who was able to officially secure his PGA Tour Card (12:55). Busy, busy week of sports law!! Dan Lust is joined by John Nucci (@JNucci23) to break down the latest. New this week was a win for the PGA Tour in the case where LIV golfers sued them for violating antitrust law. (2:57) Three LIV Golfers (Talor Gooch, Hudson Swafford, and Matt Jones) were also seeking a temporary restraining order to be allowed to compete in the PGA Tour's upcoming FedEx Cup Playoffs and get around the PGA suspensions. However, Judge Beth Freeman denied the TRO by ruling that the LIV golfers failed to show irreparable harm if the TRO was not granted. Judge Freeman also attacked the entirety of antitrust case by finding the LIV players had not established a likelihood of success on the merits. Read more about it here. Jodi Balsam (@JodiBalsam) joins to further assist in breaking down the news surrounding the LIV players v. PGA antitrust lawsuit. (16:53) Jodi explains the ruling of Judge Freeman and her analysis of their TRO argument. Jodi also discusses the irreparable harm argument and how the court determined their LIV payment has already compensated the golfers for the harms they have suffered by being suspended from the PGA Tour. Jodi analyzes why she thinks this lawsuit is a strategic one for LIV to provide leverage over the PGA Tour. Also, the strict nature of the LIV contracts being used are similar to the contracts they are arguing against with the PGA Tour. Jodi predicts what the future of golf looks like. *** Have a topic you want to write about? ANYONE and EVERYONE can publish for ConductDetrimental.com. Let us know if you want to join the team.
