It was a summary of the entire 2025 season in one game for the Vols: Bad defense, inconsistent offense, untimely mistakes, a costly missed field goal and a defeat, Tennessee's fifth of the season. Where do Tennessee and Josh Heupel go from here? More are coming on the defensive staff and the transfer portal opens on Friday. Mike Carpenter was in Nashville (sitting in the actual 200 level) to watch Luke Altmyer and the offense control the clock and ice the victory, setting up David Olano's second game-winning field goal of the season. It wraps a bow on the best two-season run in Illini football history.
