Tek & Prem discuss the first wave of free agency and some of the Eagles arrivals and departures. With tons of draft capital, the message from Howie to the fanbase to 'be patient' makes sense, and the front office has earned our trust coming off their Super Bowl blowout. The secondary will look very different, but Vic Fangio has studs at every level of his defense on the roster who are here to stay. Howie's approach of signing players to value deals with a low risk-high reward modus operandi has worked in the past with guys like Baun and Becton, and Eagles fans should expect the same again with the new additions. As March wraps up and the focus shifts to the draft, the Eagles flexibility and plethora of picks will be the key factor in how this offseason is viewed. The Phillies are tearing the cover off the ball this Spring and will start regular season play in less than two weeks time in DC. The shuffled lineup could mean more early run production and this rotation should be one of MLB's best yet again. The clock is ticking for this group.Courtesy of the Vet Alumni Members Association (VAMA)
Tek & Prem discuss the upcoming NFL Free Agency period and the expected performance of defending Super Bowl Champion General Manager Howie Roseman. With Zach Baun locked up to a deal and 10 of 11 offensive starters under contract, the outlook is exciting for a team poised to repeat as Super Bowl Champions. Defensively there is flexibility to bring an edge rusher and a cornerback in, after the release of Darius Slay and likely departure of Josh Sweat. Next week as the period gets underway, all Philly fans' eyes will be locked upon the breaking news banner, anticipating the next Howie move that improves this team even further. The Phillies are underway in Clearwater and baseball is around the corner. Can this group transcend their previous limitations and compete with the Dodgers for the NL Crown? The pitching is capable but the question remains if the bats will be loud or quiet in October. In what could be the last hurrah for this team in it's current form, a World Series Championship is the expectation.Courtesy of the Vet Alumni Members Association (VAMA)
The NFL's sack leader in 2024 -- Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson -- was given permission to seek a trade. Perhaps Hendrickson would be an option for the Green Bay Packers, who hope to improve their pass rush this offseason. Former NFL offensive lineman Mike Wahle is a big fan of Hendrickson, and he joins the show to discuss that possibility, plus the idea of a DK Metcalf trade. Plus, Marques has his first draft profile of the 2025 NFL Draft process, featuring Texas cornerback Jahdae Barron. (This year's Cooper DeJean?!)See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

"I hope coming from where I come from, I inspire other kids back home from my community, we are a small town but if you put that work in, you can go as far as you want." Cooper DeJean Super Bowl Champion From a small town in Iowa to NFL Super Star in his first year with the Philadelphia Eagles, Cooper DeJean has shaken up the sports world with his high level of play by breaking the mold for cornerbacks in the league. Fresh off the Super Bowl Parade, Ryan, Channing and Fred sit with the rookie defensive back as he reflects on his unbelievable season, turning stereotypes into success, proving doubters wrong and how his dream became his football reality. A man of many NFL nicknames- the Caucasian Corner, Cooper DeJawn, One half of the Exciting Whites, but after his interception for a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Cooper DeJean is now a household name. Growing up in Odebolt, Iowa, DeJean didn't always see football as his future and thought basketball was his path until his on-field football skills became hard to ignore. Through hard work and sacrifice, Cooper shares how his upbringing molded him into the man he is today, how his parents' unwavering support led him to chase his NFL dream that has now made him a Super Bowl champion at just 22 year old. Spinning the white cornerback stereotype into a movement, Cooper embraced his opportunity and at every turn continued to shut down opposing offenses and consistently led the defense with aggressive playmaking. Going in-depth with the Eagles game plan to talking the guys through the team's mindset leading up to the big game, Cooper opens up on how Philadelphia prepared for victory while giving an inside perspective to the their decisive win over the defending champions, Kansas City Chiefs. He shares how the night before the game a certain energy filtrated the locker room from powerful speeches made by the veterans to the look of certainty in each of his teammates' eyes. The bright lights and global stage of Super Bowl Sunday didn't cripple momentum but rather spurred more motivation as Cooper couldn't have scripted his birthday any better than picking off Patrick Mahomes and returning it for a touchdown to put the Eagles in control. Admittedly, Cooper shares how he didn't fully grasp the magnitude of the moment in real time and to him, he was just out there playing football like he's always done. He shares the unique leadership and focus of Quarterback Jalen Hurts and how Saquon Barkley helped guide him through his rookie year, pushing him to be the best version of himself every week. The Philadelphia roster remains intact heading into the offseason which has the guys fired up to get back to ball and see what the future holds to defend their title. Cooper's humility keeps him grounded as he continues to be an example for his community back home that through hard work and dedication, anything is possible. He shares some of the messages he received after his championship title including from fellow Iowa Hawkeye Caitlin Clark, who despite rooting for Kansas City was beyond happy to congratulate her college friend. The Philadelphia Eagles win their second Lombardi Trophy by defeating Kansas City in Super Bowl LIX, and now have Championship Game wins over Vince Lombardi himself, Bill Belichick, and Andy Reid. Jalen Hurts is the quintessential leader and with Saquon Barkley toting the rock, few defenses stand a chance at slowing them down. The Birds put a show on for the Eagles faithful in attendance down in New Orleans and around the world, as there was never a doubt who the better team was on February 9th--on a day where the Chiefs were convinced that they were about to make history. As we break down the meaning of this epic victory, we also look ahead to what is next for this group. There are key guys to re-sign and a Draft to prepare for as they gear up to go BACK-TO-BACK. “You might not have everything you want, but you're gonna have everything you need.” Tristan Wirfs on powerful words from his mother In this episode of The Pivot, Ryan, Channing and Fred sit with Tampa Bay Buccaneers All-Pro tackle and Super Bowl champion Tristan Wirfs who discusses his journey from Iowa to NFL stardom as he shares what it was like protecting Tom Brady year one vs Baker Mayfield now, talks the personal struggles he's overcome and how fast life changes if we don't adapt. Immediately as the conversation starts, the energy is high, and the guys realize Tristan isn't the typical offensive lineman personality wise as he jokes with the guys, joins in on the fun and delivers a refreshing perspective to football, family and life. Wirfs reflects on the high expectations placed on him as a rookie tasked with protecting one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He shares with the guys invaluable advice from his coaches that taught him importance of discipline and consistency as well as the one thing Tom Brady said to not let happen! Opening up about the mental struggles he faced transitioning in the league, revealing that nightmares and anxiety crept in as he doubted himself, especially as he was tasked with switching positions and the pressures he felt being on this level. His bond with Baker Mayfield and his offensive line helped pull him through the dark times and now he's looking to lead his team back to a championship. Wirfs' motivation and mindset stems from the strength he received from is his mother, who worked tirelessly to provide for him and his sister as a single mother. He shares an emotional story of calling her to tell her she no longer had to work and how meaningful the sacrifices she made back then are now. This past summer, Wirfs welcomed his first child and it immediately changed his perspective, bringing deeper joy and responsibility into his life. He speaks on the rewarding experience of giving back, whether it's participating in Iowa's Hawkeye Wave tradition, and how special it's been to see so much unexpected talent come from his Alma mater from Caitlin Clark to Cooper DeJean to Riley Moss and more… Wirfs journey is a testament of not just chasing a dream but fulfilling it through hard work, mental resilience and gratitude. Introduction & Casual Banter 00:00:35 – 00:01:19 Chris and Matt open the episode discussing how it has been a slow week, except for the Eagles' Super Bowl win. Super Bowl LVIII Recap: Eagles' Blowout Victory Over Chiefs 00:01:31 – 03:30 The Eagles dominated the Chiefs, winning 40-22 in a game that was never competitive. At one point, Philadelphia led 34-0, making the game feel surreal. Chris compares it to the 2018 Super Bowl win over the Patriots, which was more dramatic and felt “earned” due to its back-and-forth nature. Matt disagrees, feeling completely satisfied with the Eagles' dominant performance. Chiefs' Struggles & Eagles' Defensive Dominance 03:30 – 05:56 The Chiefs shut down Saquon Barkley, limiting him to 57 rushing yards on 25 carries. Despite his limited impact, Barkley was crucial in getting the Eagles to the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes had his worst playoff game ever, struggling against the Eagles' defense. The Eagles' defensive front sacked Mahomes six times, despite never blitzing once. Key Plays & Standout Performers 05:56 – 07:45 Josh Sweat pushed his lineman into Mahomes, leading to a game-changing Zach Baun interception. Cooper DeJean's pick-six sealed the game, making it clear the Eagles would win. Devonta Smith's touchdown late in the third quarter prompted Matt to confidently declare victory. Eagles Free Agency & Offseason Decisions 07:45 – 13:46 Josh Sweat and Milton Williams played their way into big contracts, making their return uncertain. Zach Baun is considered a must-sign player due to his leadership and impact. Mekhi Becton's resurgence in Philadelphia makes him a priority to re-sign. Darius Slay may retire or leave after one more season. Discussion on Howie Roseman's ability to rebuild the roster, with 15 of 22 starters being homegrown. Coaching Changes & Kellen Moore's Impact on Staff 16:40 – 18:38 Kellen Moore took the Saints' head coaching job, raising concerns about how many Eagles coaches he will take with him. Jalen Hurts has only had the same offensive coordinator for two consecutive years once since college. Potential replacements for offensive coordinator include Kevin Patullo or outside hires like Lincoln Riley. Betting Odds for Next Season 18:38 – 19:05 Eagles are favorites (+550) to win the 2026 Super Bowl, slightly ahead of the Chiefs (+600). Eagles are +295 favorites to win the NFC again, followed by the Lions (+400). Other Philadelphia Sports Topics 19:05 – 24:09 Sixers' struggles and Paul George's lack of effort frustrate fans. Phillies' lack of offseason moves, with Max Kepler being their only notable signing. AJ Brown's generosity, as he visited a young fan recovering from a plane crash. Final Thoughts & Wrap-Up 24:09 – End Chris and Matt reflect on the emotional highs of the Eagles' win. Discussion on offseason strategy, balancing free-agent signings, and trade rumors. Chris jokes about avoiding another stressful season by celebrating now.

It's another edition of The Podbag on this episode of Talking Buffalo, as Patrick Moran goes through several listener submitted questions and responds, including Buffalo Bills running back James Cook apparently wanting a whole lot of money in his next contract, what the team should do with Von Miller and what it would take for Patrick to take the Buffalo Sabres serious again. James Cook took to his Instagram this week and certainly made it seem like he thinks he's worth $15 million per year. Patrick discusses if that's going to happen at Buffalo this offseason if at all and if trading him is now a possibility. (Spoiler alert--that ain't happening) As for Miller, he did have a decent 2024 campaign with six sacks and a few big plays, including one in the divisional round but is that enough for Patrick to want him back in 2025 on a restructured deal or another incentive-laced pay cut? Patrick explains why he thinks keeping him around is a bad idea and probably prohibits other things from happening. Also, did 2024 prove that the Bills passing game can consistently work without a true No. 1 wide receiver? That plus a Cooper Dejean miss, taking one player from any team in the NFL debate, the best Buffalo weekend you could offer a visitor and much more. Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. (0:00-8:16) Following the Eagles' Super Bowl victory, it is essential to reassess the status of Philadelphia sports. The prevailing "Negadelphia" mentality should no longer be accepted. Jeffery Lurie and Howie Roseman have significantly enhanced the landscape of Philadelphia sports. (8:16-15:32) We revisit the Australian broadcast commentary of Cooper DeJean's interception, during which he scored a touchdown. Tyrone aims for the Philadelphia Eagles to be the first team that comes to mind when people think of football. (15:32-26:50) We present audio recordings of NFL players responding to the question of whether an average individual could gain one yard in an NFL game. Interestingly, the inquiry did not mention the Philadelphia Eagles; however, most players indicated that with the Eagles' offensive line providing support, it might be feasible. (26:50-39:52) Tyrone encourages Sylvana to broaden her perspective on musicians who have influenced sports through their renditions of national anthems. He provided her with a list featuring Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, and Jimi Hendrix, all of whom have made significant contributions to the sporting world with their performances of national anthems. In this special episode of Football 301, Nate Tice and Matt Harmon join you live to break down the Philadelphia Eagles' dominant Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Nate and Matt discuss what went wrong for Kansas City and what made Philadelphia's roster construction and game plan so effective. The guys break down every key moment, from the Chiefs' offensive line woes to the Eagles' defensive line getting after Patrick Mahomes all game long. While the Chiefs couldn't seem to get anything going on offense, with Rashee Rice missing and Travis Kelce struggling in both receiving and blocking, Matt and Nate pinpoint what went wrong. The Chiefs were constantly pressured by the Eagles' four-man rush, and even though the Chiefs' defense hung in there, giving up 40 points was too much to overcome. Nate explains the missed opportunities, like DeAndre Hopkins' crucial drop and what the Chiefs will need to address in the offseason—like bolstering their offensive line and adding more talent to their receiver corps. For the first time in years, the future looks shaky for Kansas City. But this episode isn't just about the Chiefs' struggles; the Eagles also deserve plenty of credit. From Nick Sirianni's leadership to Howie Roseman's masterful roster construction, Matt and Nate give praise to the Eagles for building a team that was built to win big. Whether it's Josh Sweat dominating up front or Cooper DeJean stepping up in big moments, the Eagles' commitment to their unique team-building strategy paid off. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Rachel Grashow, PhD. Classified as a White Woman and a Suspected White Supremacist, “Grashow is the director of epidemiological research initiatives and co-investigator of Family Experiences Managing Football Lives (FEM-FL) for the Football Players Health Study at Harvard University. Grashow is also a research scientist at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health.” The last time Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs tussled with Jalen Hurts' Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, The C.O.W.S. welcomed Dr. Jessica Wallace to discuss her research that shows White coaches, White parents, and White players are more informed about the dangers of concussions than black coaches, parents, and players. Dr. Grashow's research examines various elements of how tackle football destroys the brain computer as well the ways the System of White Supremacy exploits black football players while protecting the White Tom Bradys on the field. Part of her work specifically examines how black players are funneled to more dangerous positions, and are less likely to be thought of as or given the opportunity to be a “leader." Right on time for the broadcast, the Eagles' defensive back Cooper DeJean intercepted a Mahomes' pass and returned it for a score. Across social media, DeJean's shared nickname, #ExcitingWhites , began trending for the rest of the evening. The moniker highlights DeJean's racial classification as White in contrast with the fact that for decades White football coaches almost exclusively restrict this defensive position to black males. During our discussion, Dr. Grashow repeatedly insisted that White people are ignorant and/or unconscious about what Racism is and how it works. Taking things to the extreme, Dr. Grashow suggested that Whites at Harvard aren't as smart as Gus T. and that we shouldn't "hand over" power to White dominated institutions. I've never heard anyone suggest that Ivy League Whites are mediocre thinkers. #StillLearning #TB12 #TheCOWS16Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#
Paul and Charlie take a look at what they learned from the Super Bowl through a Bengals lens. As you might imagine most of that revolves around how Philadephia hired a new defensive coordinator and flipped from one of the worst defenses in football to one of the best. On what really stood out about their rebuild, what Cooper DeJean says about Dax Hill and putting the DL draft picks side by side. Plus, a conversation about offensive line play and the method to remember in playing the Chiefs. Tyrone shows appreciation for the analysts that supported the Eagles. (12:22-19:39) Tyrones silence streak against some of his comrades has ended prematurely. We react to the quote from Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio about how just because it took long for him to reach the goal, doesn’t mean it won’t happen in life. (19:39-32:39) Cooper DeJean showed out in the Super Bowl which was also his birthday. Tyrone, Ricky and Sylvana agree that Cooper is going to be a popular name within the tri-state area. (32:39-39:46) All the people that doubted the Eagles are currently in hiding after yesterday's dominance. Tyrone revisits a prediction from Andrew Brandt before the game took place.
