The Solid Verbal: SEC Preview Part 3 - The Wild Cards We close out our three-part SEC preview by taking a closer look at Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Arkansas, South Carolina, Auburn, and Vanderbilt. In this college football preview episode, we ask burning questions about eight SEC teams that could swing wildly in either direction this season. Is Florida poised for a big jump with a (finally) healthy DJ Lagway navigating one of the most brutal schedules in the country? Will the addition of quarterback John Mateer and offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle lead Oklahoma back to prominence, or is their monster schedule too much to overcome? Is 2025 a stepback year for Josh Heupel and Tennessee after losing key offensive pieces, or can their elite defense carry them? We examine Texas A&M as a legitimate playoff contender behind Marcel Reed's dual-threat ability and a physical rushing attack that could punish teams late in games. We discuss whether Sam Pittman can do enough to keep his job at Arkansas with Taylen Green leading a completely revamped receiving corps and a defense that struggled mightily in pass coverage. We analyze if LaNorris "The Creator" Sellers and pass-rushing phenom Dylan Stewart have enough of a supporting cast around them to lift South Carolina after massive bigtime turnover. Plus, we debate how much we should believe in Jackson Arnold's fresh start at Auburn with an elite receiving corps but lingering questions about offensive line stability, and what to make of Vanderbilt, which brings back tons of production from their magical 2024 season but will no longer be able to fly under the radar. From Florida's injury concerns to A&M's playoff potential to Vandy's encore attempt, this is your guide to the SEC's X-factors that could completely change the conference landscape. With Auburn in full camp mode and 30 days from its season opener at Baylor, writer Kevin Scarbinsky joined The Auburn Undercover Podcast to examine the Tigers' progress, depth, and the challenges that will define their season. Scarbinsky discussed Hugh Freeze's approach to camp, including his emphasis on building quarterback confidence by tailoring practice reps. "I don't know that I've ever heard a coach put it quite that way," he said, noting how Freeze wants his quarterback to "walk off the field feeling good about himself." The conversation also highlighted Auburn's offensive upgrades. Jackson Arnold's SEC experience provides stability at quarterback, while depth at running back and wide receiver could give Freeze more flexibility. "The roster is better across the board," Scarbinsky said. "If they can navigate September, this team has a chance to make real noise." Defensively, Scarbinsky pointed to Keldric Faulk's development and DJ Durkin's aggressive approach. He emphasized that early tests at Baylor, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma will reveal how quickly Auburn can put its talent together. "If they can get out of that stretch 2-1," Scarbinsky added, "it changes the outlook for the entire season." The Southeastern 16 crew previews the 2025 Auburn football season and gives predictions for what's ahead. Topics include: So much depends on Oklahoma transfer quarterback Jackson Arnold, a top-10 player in high school class whose 2024 season didn't live up to expectations on an OU offense gutted by injury. Will a revitalized Arnold hit his ceiling in Hugh Freeze's offense? He's helped by perhaps the best pass-catching duo the country in Cam Coleman and Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton, plus, the return of Malcom Simmons as a capable third wideout. The Tigers return some experience at running back in Damani Austin and Jeremiah Cobb. Auburn returns its middle-of-the-offensive-line starters in Dillon Wade, Connor Lew and Jeremiah Wright, plus talented tackle transfer Xavier Chaplin. Auburn's defense is led by end Keldric Faulk, a preseason All-SEC pick and a potential 2026 NFL first-rounder. The Tigers return Kayin Lee and Jay Crawford off good 2024 seasons, and added another eight transfers who could see time on the two-deep, including Liberty's Jay Hardy and Arkansas State's Keyron Crawford. Coach Hugh Freeze enters the season on the hot seat, and an interesting first-half of the schedule could have a lot to do with how things go for Freeze, who has his most talented Auburn team yet.

The guys are back and open the show talking some nonsense before diving into what you're really here for: hot OU Football talk. What's happened since our last episode? We've got you covered. And OU's season win total is set at 6.5 (3:20). SEC Media Days happened. It's over. Not much came out of it. Brent Venables talked for a long time. He mentioned some young players we may get to see play this fall. We couldn't get through much of the players so we're just gonna assume they didn't say anything of note. Plus some guy asked a really weird question about Navy (13:30). How are we feeling about Javonnie Gibson's injury (36:55)? Jackson Arnold made his second SEC Media Days appearance, but this time for a new team (40:45). Where do we think the SEC media will pick the Sooners to finish? Grant is putting a lot of stock in OU-Michigan (50:00). Thoughts on Joe Castiglione's upcoming retirement (1:04:35). The recruiting for 2026 doesn't sound like it's going very well, but a good 2025 season can easily reverse that trend. Are you pumped to tailgate on the North Oval (1:21:30)? Grant thinks this upcoming college football season is going to be pretty interesting. He doesn't see any obvious picks to win the National Championship (1:25:30). We read some comments from the WoE Facebook page and Lee admits he recently suffered a really stupid major injury (1:29:00).
