I am enjoying snuggling up to our fire place each night.    Here on the Heart of the Soul  I offer raw, uncut stories on each Full & New Moon. Sharing my own personal journey of facing my fear of Speaking & being heard & creating space for others to share their stories with the world.    This is a space where we remember what it means to be Wild Human and Alive. We Breathe Life back into storytelling, Honor each other's differences & Connect about that which Unites us All as Human Beings of the Earth   Before we get into the episode I would love to take a moment to bring awareness to our Hearts. We all have a heart.    Did you know that “The heart's magnetic field, which is the strongest rhythmic field produced by the human body, not only envelops every cell of the body, but also extends out in all directions into the space around us. The heart's magnetic field can be measured several feet away from the body by sensitive magnetometers. Research conducted at HMI suggests the heart's field is an important carrier of information.” Link    Perhaps you have experienced another person walking into your space and immediately having a strong reaction to that person's energy, good or bad. I know I have.    Well, perhaps it was their heart's magnetic resonance that you were reacting to.    This Episode was recorded on November 5th 2021 Andi grew up in Rural Michigan  Andi has been in Washington for 11 years.  She shares how clear her path to medical school was to her, from a very young age.  Her interest in Religion & Philosophy  Why she chose to be an Osteopathic Doctor. The Areas of medicine that have a more diverse focus on body, mind & spirit  Enneagram 7 The Enthusiast How she transitioned from Palliative Care to Ethics.  What is Palliative Care? Exploring the concept of suffering & leaning towards it as an opportunity to grow  “All life involves suffering” The first noble truth of Buddhism “Suffering is shared in all world religions, both theistic and non theistic” Andi Chaturn Making meaning out of suffering.  The different Types of Ethics.  Andi is currently focused on Bio Ethics.  Holding space for  multiple perspectives. Ethics is not about what is “right, wrong, good, bad.” Why it is hard to formally define What Ethics is.  Who are we as people? And how might we be together in community? Childhood at her Grandparents farm running through fields, jumping on stones across a river.  Jumping in frigid cold water  Learning what hiking “was” as an adult.  Taking a break from work to go on a silent retreat.  “Returning to the trees” Connecting her feet to the Earth The mutual honoring and reciprocity that she felt surrounded by the more than human community. How the pandemic has been a portal for her.  How travel and studying world religions has opened her awareness.   Recognizing that she has been raised within colonialism, and having awareness of that.  We talk about Death.  Andi remembers bathing grandparents.  Exploring the edges of questions.  Mental Health in the medical system.  Navigating surrogate decision making.  How a beautiful death will look different to each person.  Surrendering to what is, connecting to all that is.  The cyclical nature of the more than human world. How life comes from life.  Having civil discourse with a deep respect for disagreeing and not having to agree.  Trying on new ways of thinking and being that are not familiar.  How we can love one another into being.  Bringing ritual into everyday life Spending her recent Birthday quietly creating in solitude. Being born with scoliosis, Vanessa learned early in life that she had to think differently.  The scoliosis gave her back pain, which western medicine couldn't seem to help, but what did was getting massages and taking yoga. But this isn't her story. Her story starts, when she flipped her car and ended up getting THREE Traumatic Brain Injuries.  Her speech was impaired, her motor skills were off and she couldn't even say what was on her mind.  Doctors recommended a psychiatrist and learning how to cope with it but, Vanessa wasn't one to give up.With the help of an Osteopathic Doctor, a massage therapist and others she slowly learned how to get back to normal.  From what seem like a death sentence, she was able to fully recover in a year. What are the benefits of massages?Massages are more then just that relaxing one you got last week.  Instead massages really target the muscles facia which can help with release and blood flow.  This prompts the body to start sending healing hormones to help your body feel better. What are the benefits of Acupuncture ?Way too many to list, but acupuncture is the real deal.  It was been shown to help our bodies heal whether it is from GI issues or injuries, those needles really do hit the spot. What are the benefits of Yoga?Too many to list, but stress is one of the number one reasons we get sick.  How do you cope with stress? well mindfulness and mediation are the way to go.Put that all together and you get Vanessa's shop, which is a blend of all three!https://emergeyogawellness.com/ Check her out!Her advice is just to do it.  Use your body to help fix you.  No one else can do it for you, but we can definitely guide you there.Support the show (http://www.redefine-fitness.com)
