After putting in work for the set and beating the case with an openly bias judge, Proud Boys Gang Member, Kyle Rittenhouse, fails to grift off his own name. This story is coming to you from Phoenix Calida's show notes and I had no idea how ridiculous it got with this guy. From ANDREA JEFFERSON "I don't have to explain to most of you who Kyle Rittenhouse is. He's the 21-year-old who shot three men, two fatally, during the civil unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in August 2020, when he was aged 17. Rittenhouse was acquitted at his trial in November 2021, and testified that he had acted in self-defense. We all saw the videos. A minor possessed a gun of war that he shouldn't have had, and killed two men. He's awful. And in the years since, all he has wanted to do is become a MAGA spokesman. And mostly, he's been allowed. There are tons of photos of him with Donald Trump, the Trump family, as well as many other top MAGA figures. If there's a MAGA event, he's there. But do you know who he's not there for? His mother Wendy and his sister Faith. At least that's according to Faith Rittenhouse's GoFundMe looking to raise money so they don't get evicted. And what Faith wrote was rather heartbreaking." Hey gang. Phoenix Calida introduces this topic and we roll into two news stories from there. About 15 minutes hit the cutting room floor because we were just arguing about using facebook vs using twitter. That's why the twitter segment ends abruptly.
Our purpose is to champion sex worker rights, through intersectional activism and public engagement. This is done through involvement in intersectional activism and public engagement about the stigma of sex work from the many sides of discrimination and marginalization. This approach respects the interaction of social categorizations, among them race, class, and gender, which strengthens the idea of fighting for all members within the sex worker community.
Hey gang. Phoenix Calida steps up with the heat. This episode is the old cleanser from the last one. Let's decompress and be free from stress for a moment. Also: William rants and has trouble with these stupid bigots but it's still funny.
Hey, gang. So Marjorie Failure Greene here goes full Forsyth on a committee hearing and brings that confederate daughter energy straight to Fauci's face... like a very serious adult. We begin this episode with from news from the notes of our own Phoenix Calida and trigger warnings, head scratchers and frustration will be coming your way.

A screed of lies was brought to the ATTENTION of one Phoenix Calida. Not being the type of individual whom would let such nonsense slide, Phoenix took to the microphone and carpet bombed these liars with an overwhelming truth assault.
KOMO News - "An explosion of sex trafficking," is how one Seattle city council member described what's happening along Aurora Avenue in north Seattle. Some business owners and residents told KOMO News something needs to be done. During a recent community public safety meeting, councilmember Cathy Moore said one tool she's considering to address the issue is a proposal to reinstate Seattle's loitering law. Moore told a packed room of community members in late April that she believes the spike in sex trafficking is linked in part to the repeal of the city's loitering law back in 2020. The moment Moore suggested reinstating the loitering law as a potential tool to address the spike in sex trafficking the room erupted in applause.

Let's meet The Blaisey Arnold on TikTok. She's making the viral rounds this week after someone noticed a video where this mom tells the world that her husband is driving a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500. Blaisey claims he paid $78,000 for the truck in 2022 at 14% APR. The payment per month: $1,600 for the truck. Meanwhile, Blaisey also lets the world know that she's paying $1,400 a month for a Chevy Tahoe that was financed for $84,000. Ah, but there's an update from these bozos. After paying $1,400 for three years, she'd paid off just $10,000 on the balance. "It blows my mind that I have paid $50,000 into this car and have only paid off $10,000 of the balance," Blaisey told her TikTok audience Then she revealed that her new car is an Audi Q7 with 103k on the odometer! There's no need to do drugs when my brain can be stimulated by the financial morons that populate TikTok. In the video where Blaisey revealed she was getting rid of her Tahoe, she claimed this was her turning over a new leaf and noted how she no longer felt the urge to be materialistic. Then she went out and bought an Audi with 103k miles on it. Talk about a plot twist! Tell us more, Blaisey!
Hey gang. This is going straigh to the main feed and not Patreon.com/winecellarmediafund. PHoenix Calida brings a lot of conversation to our relationship from stuff they see on the twitter. After we talk about it, one of us always says "we should have been recording". So now we're deliberatly making sure to BE RECORDING. We hope find this little conversation entertaining and engaging.
Lawmakers are trying to pass the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), a dangerous censorship bill that would give the government unprecedented control over the internet and force platforms to spy on youth. KOSA uses two methods to “protect” kids, and both of them are awful. First, KOSA would pressure platforms to install filters that would wipe the net of anything deemed “inappropriate” for minors. This = instructing platforms to censor, plain and simple. Places that already use content filters have restricted important information about suicide prevention and LGBTQ+ support groups, and KOSA would spread this kind of censorship to every corner of the internet. It's no surprise that anti-rights zealots are excited about KOSA: it would let them shut down websites that cover topics like race, gender, and sexuality.

"Every year at this time, football fans across the country and around the globe ready themselves for the most-watched event in the professional sports calendar. The traditions surrounding the Super Bowl are time honored. The host city rolls out the red carpet to welcome 100,000 visitors and millions of viewers anticipate a great game, entertaining halftime show and catchy commercials. Just as entrenched as those traditions is the annual reminder that the Super Bowl causes human trafficking to spike in its host city. Sounds like a valuable PSA, right? There's only one problem – it isn't true." - Kristen Abrams and Nate King swopusa.org/donate
Hey, gang. Phoenix Calida sat in for this one. I start with a very angry segment on reproductive rights and from there Phoenix Calida joins and the episode becomes a lot more reasonable. We have a good old fashioned Wine Cellar episode. We talk policy, philosophy, and tangent to our heart's content.
swopusa.org/donate A former Columbus vice detective pleaded guilty to federal accusations Thursday that he kidnapped sex worker victims under the guise of an arrest, according to federal prosecutors. Andrew Mitchell, 59, of Sunbury, pleaded guilty to two counts of depriving individuals of their civil rights while acting under color of law and one count of obstructing justice, according to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio. Mitchell spent more than 30 years with the Columbus Division of Police and was assigned to the vice union for the final two years of his employment, which ended in 2019, prosecutors said. While working as a detective in July 2017, Mitchell wore plain clothes and drove an unmarked car when he handcuffed a sex worker to his vehicle, then drove to a parking lot and detained the woman against her will after identifying himself as an officer, prosecutors said. Two months later, while again working as a plainclothes detective, he questioned a sex worker about rates before he said he was an officer and then kidnapped her, prosecutors said. Mitchell was acquitted earlier this year of murder and manslaughter charges stemming from the death of a woman he shot while he was working undercover. He was indicted after shooting and killing Donna Castleberry, 23, as she sat in his unmarked police vehicle in August 2018. He said he acted in self-defense after she stabbed him in the hand during an undercover prostitution investigation. The jury in that trial reached its verdict after deliberating for about five hours. Mitchell faces up to 11 years on the three charges. Credit for time served could knock five years of the sentence. Under the terms of the plea deal, Mitchell will not have to register with the state as a sex offender.

https://apnews.com/article/maine-legislature-partially-decriminalize-prostitution-04161133ca6fd340ce4443f322ec0c96 Maine Democratic Gov. Janet Mills on Monday signed into law a bill that partially decriminalizes prostitution, with supporters saying the measure protects the most vulnerable while still targeting those who exploit them. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Lois Reckitt, D-South Portland, eliminates the crime of engaging in prostitution. It also elevates the crime of solicitating a child for commercial sexual exploitation, lifting the crime from a misdemeanor to a felony with a maximum punishment of five years in state prison. Reckitt, the longtime director of Family Crisis Services in Portland and an advocate for women suffering from domestic abuse, said the bill will help people pushed into sex trafficking by desperate circumstances. Reckitt joined Mills for the bill-signing ceremony two years after the governor vetoed a similar bill. “We are long overdue to better protect and decriminalize sellers engaged in prostitution without legalizing pimping and sex buying,” Reckitt said in a statement.
This is a different type of episode but not-so-different, really. Phoenix Calida and Producer William react with a (maybe) more in-depth analysis of what seems to be a typical celebrity gossip story. We find value in discussing this from a perspective beyond just raw entertainment and cynical voyeurism. At the same time, this episode is produced with the intent of holding your attention as well as attempting to give you some insight beyond what the current "discourse" around this story is...

Phoenix Calida wanted to address some folks they came across in relationship discussions online. There was an interest in confronting some fairly counterproductive and arguably dangerous arguments. The individual at the center of the discourse in this instance, linked an episode of their podcast to help readers understand what they were saying. We reviewed that episode. It was interesting. Let's talk about it. Leave your thoughts in the comments.

This recording was produced for SWOPUSA by Mr. William: It contains original music and audio clips from Hasanabi Reacts, Stacy Swimme on CNN, Juno Mac on Ted Talks and a 12 year old PBS news hour clip. In Episode 7, we weigh into the debate that is so often recycled in leftist spaces, "Will there be sex work after the revolution?" We also ask, why does this question keep coming up? What does this say about leftist attitudes toward sex work? And most important, what is the value of sex work, what does it contribute to society, and what is its connection to capitalism? Welcome back to On The Whorizon, a SexWorkCEO podcast hosted by Jessie Sage, and MelRose Michaels. On The Whorizon is a podcast about what's on the whorizon for sex workers, and how to navigate it. In the first half of season one, we lay the foundation for the past and present 'war on whores' with the aim to educate and help listeners understand the historical context that's lead sex workers to where we are today. The second half of season one will focus more on the actual 'work of sex work' and what it means to work within the sex industry in a contemporary context. We want to elevate sex worker stories and experiences, as well as provide tangible takeaways to approach sex work as a business model, should listeners choose to envision it that way.
