The nuclear family is the backbone of a strong society—without it, we will crumble. In this episode, we're talking about Elon Musk's latest love child with Ashley St. Clair and why Conservatives cannot fall into the trap of normalizing single motherhood and reckless men who create broken families. Strong individuals come from strong families. When the family unit collapses, people become weak, directionless, and ultimately easier for the government to exploit. The more broken the home, the more dependent the individual. And guess who loves that? The people in power who want control over your life. So, we are talking biblical gender roles, marriage, family, and why morals will always matter—even if they stop mattering to everyone else. A father's leadership and a mother's nurturing aren't interchangeable, and no amount of modern delusion will change that. Children need both a mother and a father in the home. And no, morals don't change for you once you're rich. Wh*re culture needs to die because the next generation is at stake.--https://policecoffee.com/?srsltid=AfmBOooc599VmOCGa3oE2DnVcJ4uLA69XDoBZf8ChiOpFqVfKc_BASiR
Societal collapse is a topic hotly debated not only among climate scientists and activists. But why do formerly prosperous and powerful societies break down? And what makes them resilient? Are the reasons the same for ancient Rome and the empire of the Incas, for the Chinese Tang dynasty and the culture of Rapanui (Easter Islands)? Danilo Brozovic has made a study of literature dealing with societal collapse throughout history. Talking to him was really, really fascinating, and we discussed past, present and future.
prepare, bend, sustainwhat I learned in the first 3 weeks of surviving the future 2025Note: the original posting on my a calm presence Substack is here. Sarah Heynen, Executive Director of the Canadian Centre for Food & Ecology, suggested I take Surviving the Future : The Deeper Dive (StF), a 10 week course offered by Sterling College, in Vermont. The course is informed by the work of English economist, cultural historian and writer David Flemingand is led by British author and activist Shaun Chamberlin.Sarah was right about taking the course. So far it has been very intense, quite a bit of fun, with moments of, I would call it… terror. I'm going to share some of my findings with you. I noted what I learned (and unlearned) during StF 2025 from amazing presentations, engaged conversations, creative exercises, bold documentaries, vigorous debates and mutual support sessions : all kinds of interesting and enriching learning. However, it all boiled down to this slide that our first guest presenter Nate Hagens (host of The Great Simplificationpodcast) shared with us in the first week.My reading of this slide is that we need to : prepare for systems failure and societal collapsebend like bamboo without breaking during the turmoil and devastationsustain ecological balance during recovery and regenerationNothing else really matters. It might seem simplistic to bring it down to 3 words but it really helped me focus. As the course unfolded, I made note of some of my favorite sayings and moments.be grateful and in love with lifebeauty and depravitycitizen sciencecollective humanitycommunity engaged artscommunity resiliencecourage and nobilitycracks in, but not ofdecommissioning nuclear desk killersempathetic enquiryexit ramp alternativesfatalistic dopamine follow your tearsgood collapseguerilla dissenterscivilisation's final burstinhospitable rabbit holesinterstitial insurrectionlover (not mother) earthmoral compartmentalizationmycelial modelsnew worlds unfoldingnurturing presencepermaculturepocket of survivorspower with, not over reality blindnessresilience through decentralisationsave versus savourstories of the worldtransitional townstrusting that which we cannot yet feelAnd much more.My hope (see when spirit becomes one for more on hope) is that once combined and coordinated, these efforts will become unstoppable forces of change and renewal. That's a bit utopic but I've always believed that once combined these things are very powerful. During the course one of our assignments was to respond to Nate Hagens' presentation. I wrote this poem: Friends who do not judge Colleagues who are present Kindred spirits who make me feel More-than-humans who help me heal Friends who guide me through the unknown Colleagues who comfort me when I'm gone Kindred spirits who help me respond More-than-humans' gift of mycelia Friends who help me sit Colleagues who help me prepareKindred spirits who bend not break More-than-human sustainability So this gives you an idea of the kind of fun we are having with complex issues… but will all of this be enough?Qui sait? What I've learned in these first 3 weeks is incredible. So much useful information and helpful discourse with like-minded people. But in terms of what I retain in day-to-day life there are 3 words that guide me: meditate (daily)collaborate (on relevant projects)trust (the things we cannot yet feel)More soon on the rest of the course. I'll do another posting including links to my favorite articles and videos. With deepest gratitude and respect to Nate Hagens for his presentation and use of his slide (also see Power vs Life: Towards Wide Boundary Sovereignty), to the wonderful stf 2025 team (Shuan, Nakasi and others) for their leadership and to my stf 2025 colleagues for our rich exchanges, generosity and - oh so precious - solidarity. I omvärlden. Hela kraften i massan, tyngden.
Throughout the history of civilization, the rise and fall of empires has remained one of the most striking phenomena that impacts societies. Ancient cultures who seemingly reached the apex of human achievement for their time could often swiftly be reduced to ashes, by factors ranging from invasions by foreign enemies, to natural cataclysms. However, there are also mysteries about the disappearances of societies throughout history, leading to unanswered questions about how civilizations can seemingly vanish into the mists of time. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we go in search of answers to the question of how societies collapse, and the intriguing mystery surrounding the disappearance of cultures and the tragic fall of some of history's greatest empires. In this episode, I explore the ruins of a Temple and the intriguing concept of societal collapse and its relevance to Irish history. Often depicted as dramatic and apocalyptic, societal collapse is a topic that has captured the imagination of historians and the public alike. But how accurate is this narrative especially when applied to Ireland's past? Join me as I explore if events like the Great Hunger can be considered a societal collapse!Check out my new podcast 'Transatlantic: An Irish American History Podcast' with Damian Shiels https://linktr.ee/transatlanticpod Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/irishhistory. Luke Kemp (historical collapse expert; associate at the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk) has studied past civilisations and mapped out a picture of how long they tend to last before they collapse, what tends to tip them and what (if anything) can be done to stall their demise. Luke works alongside Lord Martin Rees and Yuval Noah Harari, is an honorary lecturer in environmental policy at the Australian National University and his collapse insights have been covered by the BBC, the New York Times and the New Yorker. His first book, 'Goliath's Curse: The History and Future of Societal Collapse' will be published in June 2025. In this episode I get Luke to provide a bit of a 101 on how civilisations do indeed decline and perish and to update us on the latest theories on how and whether ours might make it through. This is a bonus episode from my 'a calm presence' substack: lens shift featuring an excerpt from e164 jimmy ung - proximity proportionate responsibility. The original text is below. The audio version was recorded on my iPhone in Vancouver on September 9, 2024 (4 minutes, 36 seconds). I also invite you to read the comments about this posting including one by Don Hill about the use of 'either/or dilemmas' in this kind of writing, which is a fair point (thanks Don). My response included that I sometimes 'do not leave enough room for the listener or reader to take their own space' (I'm working on that) but that in this case, I wanted to produce a 'polemic and provocation' given the severity of our situation. Thanks for reading and-or listening. *lens shiftfrom endless growth to societal collapseOk, are you still with me after that subtitle? :-)If so, when you get a chance, please try this exercise:Think of something you are currently doing - anything - and then shift your perspective on that activity from an ‘endless growth' lens to a ‘societal collapse' lens.Everything changes, right?Well, maybe not right away…Here's an example: You're driving a car and you're ‘endless growth' mode. You might feel encouraged, seemingly without consequence, to want a bigger or faster vehicle, whereas with a societal collapse lens, hum, you would make rethink owning a private vehicle altogether and focus your energies on other things such as on our dying planet.Same car, two very different lenses.Jimmy Ung's in e164 jimmy ung - proximity proportionate responsibility of the conscient podcast said something that I think is worth remembering at this point: · ‘If we were to do an inventory of where all the things we own were made, that would give us a very interesting map of where our responsibility, our attention and our donations ought to go because our pressures on the global systems can be revealed. That's a much more reasonable way to interact with different crises than to simply read about it on the news and interact with the whole of it without the context of our footprint.'Right, context. So, having done the exercise, what does one do? : car sharing, keep our old phones as long as possible, donate strategically to charity, learn to unlearn ? There are many things that we are doing and can continue to do more of…But, the critical part is to apply this idea of ‘lens shift' in every aspect of our lives and see where it takes us.Personally, it has brought relief, relief in the spirit of the Deep Adaptation Forum's ‘embodying and enabling loving responses to our predicament'.Relief, but not in a doomist or defeatist kind of way, but relief in the sense of releasing pressure.Releasing pressure that helps me deal with things as they really are and direct my energy based on what I feel about that reality not what I imagine through the fairy tale of modernity. *END NOTES FOR ALL EPISODESI've been producing the conscient podcast as a learning and unlearning journey since May 2020 on un-ceded Anishinaabe Algonquin territory (Ottawa). What is a good life, and how do we make sense of the world when it seems like society is collapsing? In this episode, Lucas Bender joins us once again to discuss the work of Du Fu (712-770 C.E.), the great Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty. Luke helps us to see how Du Fu's “Passing the Night by White Sands Post Station” can be read in multiple ways depending on how one translates each word of the poem. In doing so, he reveals the poem's concerns with aging, disappointment, and the possibility of hope in difficult times. 2024.. How did we get here!? Why does it feel like the worst is still to come? We don't fully answer these questions on today's episode.
Who do you turn to at the brink of the apocalypse? What might help us to mitigate the financial, commercial, political, social, and cultural collapse for which we may be heading? Museums and Societal Collapse: The Museum as Lifeboat (Routledge, 2023) proposes an unlikely hero in this narrative. Robert Janes' text explores the implications of societal collapse from a multidisciplinary perspective and considers the potential museums have to contribute to the reimagining and transitioning of a new society with the threat of collapse. Arguing that societal collapse is underway, but that total collapse is not inevitable, Janes maintains that museums are well-positioned to mitigate and adapt to the disruptions of societal collapse. As institutions of the commons, belonging to and affecting the public at large, he contends that museums are both responsible and capable of contributing to the durability and well-being of individuals, families, and communities, and enhancing societal resilience in the face of critical issues confronting our species. Today Jason welcomes Malcolm Collins, a former venture capitalist and private equity investor. Together they discuss the economic impact of demographic decline. They explore various topics, including the declining fertility rates in countries like South Korea, the US, and China, and the potential consequences for the economy. Collins emphasizes that the current economic system is built on the presumption of constant growth, driven by a rising population, and highlights the unsustainability of the current trends. He also delves into the sociological forces contributing to demographic decline, such as the urban monoculture and the economic pressures faced by individuals. Collins argues that capitalism, while a powerful system, is not well-equipped to address the long-term value of adding humans to the system. Additionally, he challenges the notion that immigration can solve the demographic decline issue, pointing out the complexities and potential dependencies it creates. The conversation touches on the importance of foresight, the role of children as future workers and contributors to the economy, and the broken state of modern dating markets, societal changes, economic collapse, the future, the broken marketplace in terms of relationships and the value people place on themselves. They also touch on the Mormon culture and its sense of community. The conversation then shifts to the decline in fertility rates and its impact on the economy. They explore how traditional ways of storing assets may not be effective in a collapsing population scenario. They speculate on the future value of assets and highlight the importance of building communities and cultural groups in a shrinking world. The discussion concludes with a mention of AI and its potential role in the posthuman world. Malcolm encourages listeners to think ahead and adapt to the upcoming societal change. #manufactureyourluck #creatingwealth #wealthcreation #uncertaintimes #demographicdecline #fertilityrates #economicimpact #constantgrowth #unsustainability #sociologicalforces #urbanmonoculture #economicpressures #futureworkers #datingmarkets Follow Jason on TWITTER, INSTAGRAM & LINKEDIN Twitter.com/JasonHartmanROI Instagram.com/jasonhartman1/ Linkedin.com/in/jasonhartmaninvestor/ Call our Investment Counselors at: 1-800-HARTMAN (US) or visit: https://www.jasonhartman.com/ Free Class: Easily get up to $250,000 in funding for real estate, business or anything else: http://JasonHartman.com/Fund CYA Protect Your Assets, Save Taxes & Estate Planning: http://JasonHartman.com/Protect Get wholesale real estate deals for investment or build a great business – Free Course: https://www.jasonhartman.com/deals Special Offer from Ron LeGrand: https://JasonHartman.com/Ron Free Mini-Book on Pandemic Investing: https://www.PandemicInvesting.com
In this video, Jason discusses bankruptcy filings and provides statistics to debunk the claim that bankruptcy rates are skyrocketing. He compares recent bankruptcy filing statistics to previous years, including pre-COVID and 2016. The numbers show that bankruptcy filings have actually decreased over time. In the first quarter of 2022, there were 400,000 new filings, compared to over 800,000 in 2016. He emphasizes the importance of comparing statistics to get a clear understanding of the situation. Andrew For America returns for a quick overview of previous show topics as well as to go over some recent news events that point towards some possible troubling future implications. He re-visits all things Artificial Intelligence, Big Club globalist fascist policy roll-out, land grabs, farmers being pushed out and pushed off of their own land in the Netherlands, John Kerry declares war on farmers in the United States, Bill Gates buying up all of those farms, Obama and the Smith-Mundt Act, Agenda 2030, "sustainable development," "SMART" cities, MRNA resistant seeds, vaccines in the food, an interesting conspiracy theory about Kobe Bryant and Big Pharma, and the historical evidence that points to the fact that androgyny becomes, and has always become more popular in the culture of a society facing collapse. Andrew plays clips from Larry Fink of BlackRock, Dan Bongino on CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman's recent public comments, Eva Vlaardingerbroek reports on land grabs in the Netherlands, Peter Flaherty connects Warren Buffet to Jeffrey Epstein on a public panel and gets arrested for it, and Alex Jones goes off about the New World Order.
