Parfois, l'objectif est de surprendre des célébrités dans leur vie privée. D'autres fois, il s'agit de se moquer ou de réaliser des canulars aux dépens de personnes qui n'ont rien demandé. Le problème est que, la plupart du temps, les individus filmés n'ont pas donné leur accord et se retrouvent exposés sur les réseaux sociaux contre leur gré. Les lunettes connectées pourraient bientôt franchir un nouveau cap. En interne, Meta développe une fonctionnalité baptisée « Name Tag », qui permettrait aux porteurs de ses lunettes Ray-Ban Meta d'identifier automatiquement les personnes qu'ils croisent et d'obtenir des informations sur elles via l'intelligence artificielle intégrée. L'information provient d'un document confidentiel de Reality Labs, la division du groupe dédiée aux technologies immersives, révélé par le New York Times.Concrètement, cette fonction s'appuie sur la reconnaissance faciale, une technologie capable d'analyser les traits d'un visage capté par une caméra, puis de les comparer à une base de données pour identifier une personne. Une fois reconnue, l'identité ou certaines informations pourraient être transmises à l'utilisateur par l'assistant vocal embarqué dans les lunettes. Le lancement commencerait par une démonstration lors d'une conférence destinée aux personnes aveugles ou malvoyantes, un public pour lequel ce type d'outil pourrait faciliter les interactions sociales, avant une ouverture au grand public.Mais ce projet soulève déjà des interrogations, notamment sur le respect de la vie privée. Le document interne montre que Meta est pleinement conscient des controverses potentielles. L'entreprise estime même que le contexte politique actuel pourrait limiter les critiques. Le mémo évoque un environnement où les organisations de défense des libertés civiles et les législateurs américains sont mobilisés sur d'autres dossiers, notamment la surveillance gouvernementale menée par certaines agences fédérales. Par ailleurs, un décret signé récemment par Donald Trump a assoupli certaines règles encadrant le développement de l'intelligence artificielle, créant un climat réglementaire plus favorable aux expérimentations technologiques.Ce n'est pas la première tentative de Meta dans ce domaine. Dès 2021, l'entreprise avait envisagé d'intégrer la reconnaissance faciale à ses premières lunettes connectées, avant de renoncer face aux obstacles techniques et éthiques. En pleine nuit, quelqu'un dépose discrètement une vitrine en verre devant le siège d'un service archéologique en Allemagne, dans la ville de Spire, devant l'antenne locale de l'Office archéologique .À l'intérieur : des os humains, des fragments de tissus anciens, et ce qui ressemble à du mobilier funéraire. Aucun message, aucune revendication, aucune explication. Juste un colis macabre et un mystère qui intrigue aujourd'hui les archéologues aussi bien que la police.Pourquoi cette histoire fascine-t-elle autant ? D'abord parce que les premiers examens ont confirmé que les os ne sont pas récents : il s'agit bien de restes humains médiévaux, probablement âgés de plus d'un millénaire. Autrement dit, quelqu'un a eu entre les mains un matériel archéologique sensible — et l'a déposé comme une bouteille à la mer. Le geste est totalement inhabituel : les découvertes de ce type sont en général signalées obligatoirement aux autorités, car elles relèvent du patrimoine national.L'énigme s'épaissit lorsque les experts constatent que les objets dans la vitrine semblent appartenir à une même sépulture. Les tissus, bien que fragmentaires, évoquent un linceul ou des vêtements funéraires. Certains os portent même des traces suggérant un ensevelissement ancien, non une manipulation moderne. Tout laisse penser qu'un tombeau médiéval a été ouvert — mais par qui ? Et pourquoi le fruit de cette fouille clandestine se retrouve-t-il déposé anonymement devant des archéologues ?Plusieurs hypothèses sont envisagées. Une première piste évoque un pilleur de tombes amateur, effrayé par l'illégalité de sa découverte et cherchant à se débarrasser rapidement des preuves. Une autre suggère un héritage encombrant, retrouvé dans une cave ou un grenier, et confié anonymement aux autorités pour éviter les complications. Mais certains spécialistes privilégient une version plus troublante : quelqu'un aurait volontairement voulu attirer l'attention sur une fouille illicite, ou signaler qu'un site archéologique est en danger.Ce qui frappe aussi les experts, c'est la façon dont les restes ont été déposés : proprement, méthodiquement, comme si le mystérieux donateur voulait transmettre un message. Mais lequel ? S'agit-il d'un acte de conscience, d'une dénonciation silencieuse, ou d'un simple abandon ?Pour l'instant, personne ne sait. Four years later: Civil War begins 600,000 dead THE FIX: 13th Amendment (1865): Abolishes slavery 14th Amendment (1868): Overturns Dred Scott—declares all Americans are citizens This becomes the foundation for applying the Bill of Rights—including the 2A—to state governments THE 2A CONNECTION Why every gun rights advocate should know this case: ✓ SCOTUS explicitly tied citizenship to the right to bear arms—they admitted it was individual, not militia-based ✓ The Court's fear of armed citizens drove their decision—they'd rather strip citizenship than allow armed Black Americans ✓ Gun control as racial control—disarming populations has always been about power, not safety ✓ The 14th Amendment's purpose: Overturn Dred Scott and protect rights against state infringement ✓ McDonald v. Chicago (2010): Supreme Court incorporated 2A against states by citing the 14th Amendment's reversal of Dred Scott and how Southern states disarmed free Black people THE 14TH AMENDMENT - Ratified July 9, 1868—specifically to overturn Dred Scott Section 1 (the critical part): "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." What this did: ✅ Overturned Dred Scott — Declared ALL people born in the U.S. are citizens ✅ Protected rights against state infringement — States can't "abridge the privileges or immunities" of citizens ✅ Applied the Bill of Rights to states — Before this, only the federal government was bound by the Bill of Rights ✅ Made the 2A enforceable against states — This is why state gun bans can be challenged in federal court The 14th Amendment's Framers on the Right to Bear Arms: During congressional debates over the 14th Amendment, Republicans repeatedly cited Southern states disarming free Black people as a reason the amendment was necessary: Senator Jacob Howard said the amendment would protect "the personal rights guarantied and secured by the first eight amendments of the Constitution; such as...the right to keep and to bear arms" Congressmen cited "Black Codes" that banned Black Americans from owning firearms The amendment was designed to prevent states from doing what Dred Scott enabled: stripping constitutional rights based on race Modern Impact: McDonald v. Chicago (2010) — Supreme Court incorporates the Second Amendment against state and local governments Justice Alito's majority opinion: Cited the 14th Amendment as overturning Dred Scott Discussed how Southern states used gun control to oppress freed slaves after the Civil War Concluded the right to bear arms is a "fundamental right" protected by the 14th Amendment's guarantee that states can't abridge the "privileges or immunities" of citizens The direct line: Dred Scott says Black people aren't citizens and can't have rights (including arms) Civil War fought partly over this 14th Amendment passes to reverse Dred Scott and protect all citizens' rights 150+ years later, that same amendment is used to strike down state gun bans THE LESSON: The Constitution protects "the people"—not "some people."
