In this episode, Anthony Hartcher delves into the universal experience of loneliness in the digital age and unpacks the paradox of feeling “connected” even as we grow more isolated. He highlights why meeting face-to-face nurtures deeper bonds, trust, and genuine vulnerability. Along the way, Anthony explains how mirror neurons underpin our ability to empathise and learn from others, and he shows how stepping back and letting people solve their own problems can actually empower them. Ultimately, he argues that embracing every facet of who we are—and recognising those same parts in others—is the key to cultivating authentic, integrated relationships. TakeawaysLoneliness is a subjective experience, not defined by external factors.Social media creates a false sense of connection through highlight reels.In-person interactions allow for deeper conversations and connections.Trust and vulnerability are essential for meaningful relationships.Oxytocin plays a key role in feeling connected to others.Mirror neurons help us understand and relate to others' behaviors.Judging others often reflects our own unacknowledged feelings.Disempowering others can lead to their personal growth and resourcefulness.Integration of the self is crucial for authentic connections.Feeling at one with oneself is the first step to connecting with others.Beyond This Conversation Consider how these ideas play out across different generations—from teens to retirees—and in settings like the workplace, classrooms, or community groups. Reflect on the role of video calls and hybrid gatherings: Can digital platforms ever approximate the trust and oxytocin release that come from in-person moments? Think about practical steps to practice “empowerment over rescue” in your own relationships and discover how small boundary shifts can foster resilience and growth. What up, Beasts? Welcome back to the show. Today I am hanging out with Kathy Baldwin. Kathy is a visionary in the realms of personal transformation and women's empowerment, with over four decades of experience learning from more than a hundred leading minds in psychology, biology, quantum physics, and personal development. Her profound journey of healing and self-discovery was catalyzed by the failure of the traditional medical system, which often relies on pills and platitudes rather than addressing root causes. This realization led Kathy to create her own innovative and unique system focused on true transformation and personal alignment. After navigating a successful yet ultimately unfulfilling career in the corporate world, Kathy faced a significant personal breakdown. This challenging period became the turning point in her life, guiding her to leave the corporate sphere and dedicate herself to supporting women on their paths to healing and empowerment. As always, I hope something lands with you today. I hope something you hear tugs on your heart-strings and/or I hope you laugh. Today on the show we are meeting up with Kehlan Morgan, from @Formscapes on YouTube. Kehlan is a master of the past and helps wrestle with a wide range of favorite philosophical dilemmas. We question whether matter can produce consciousness or if it's a separate phenomenon. We discuss intergenerational memory and Sheldrake's theory of morphic fields, proposing a collective memory beyond genetics. We examine of the distinction between description and explanation in science, and how it impacts our understanding of reality. We critique modern science's disempowering effects, including the inversion of beneficial myths and the exploitation of unseen forces. Finally we glean insights from Rudolph Steiner's work, highlighting a schism between relational reality and objective reality, questioning the dominance of physics and exploring the limitations of a monistic worldview. When negative thoughts creep into our minds, we have a choice to make. We can let things spiral into darkness or focus on thoughts that empower and energize us to overcome them. There is a way to deal with disempowering thoughts, and that's what this episode is all about. Today, I will introduce you to four powerful questions inspired by Byron Katie's renowned method, The Work. These aren't just prompts; they're tools designed to challenge and change your thinking and the way you react to crippling thoughts and stressors in your life. We'll go through each one, dissecting how they can help you uncover and understand the core reasons behind your stress and negativity. You'll learn to transform those feelings into something manageable with regular practice. Most importantly, you'll be able to shift from feeling overwhelmed to feeling empowered and controlling, no matter the challenge you face. “The truth is, every time community groups have asked questions about policing, the police haven't had good answers. And when really pushed, they had to fold to recognize that maybe this technology wasn't worth the money, wasn't doing what it was said. And while sure, it sounded good in a soundbite, it sounded good to the city council when you said you had to do something to stop crime, in reality, it wasn't doing what it said, and may also have had real harms on those communities,” says Andrew Guthrie Ferguson, author of The Rise of Big Data Policing: Surveillance, Race, and the Future of Law Enforcement. In this episode of “Movement Memos,” Guthrie Ferguson and host Kelly Hayes explore the history and failures of predictive policing, and raise the alarm about the creation of new data empires. "How are you?" Good thanks. This automated response of "good thanks" has us acting and talking like robots, disregarding emotion and rapid changes in our daily lives. Today, we discuss where this response comes from and how it may stem from mainstream knowledge. First, it's an unconscious protective mechanism to keep us from being vulnerable about how we are truly doing. Second, it's a way of not burdening another person who cares about us. Third, it arises from our disempowering vocabulary that has become corporate culture. Let's empower you with new vocabulary to take control of your emotions and guide others along the way.
I used to flippantly refer to myself as a Perfectionist and oftentimes I would refer to it being a badge of honor. As I got older and my anxiety increased, I realized that being a chronic perfectionist was actually STEALING my joy instead of making my job easier. But, how does one just stop being a perfectionist? Perhaps you find yourself in the same boat; Vacillating between being SOLD on the idea that everything has to be just perfect and the conflicting desire to let things “go with the flow” or just be “good enough”. If you've found yourself in this dance, you are most certainly not alone. In this week's episode, I break down just how detrimental the strive for perfection can be and how it often leads to much suffering, frustration, and angst. Additionally, I dig into 6, easy-to-implement steps you can take to begin allowing room for your humanity without sacrificing excellence and how you can maintain your integrity AND your sanity. This pod explores: Why “Perfect” doesn't really exist and how the pursuit of perfection can be #supes detrimental – But how it also can be exactly what is called for sometimes (Wait, WHAT!?) How to figure out the personal “Rules” you've established for yourself that have locked you into perfectionism and chronically delay your happiness My favorite tool to catch and re-route your perfectionism in the moment (without overthinking it to death) How to allow room for excellence and integrity in what you do, without the “pressure of perfect” WORTHY. APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN! IT'S TIME TO BELIEVE YOU ARE WORTHY, ONCE AND FOR ALL. It's time to stop talking constant shit to yourself. It's time to stop caring so much about what everyone else thinks of you. It's time to let go of that death grip on perfectionism, self-doubt, and people-pleasing. After all, how has that been working? That's what I thought. Let's kick that shit to the curb, shall we? The doors are officially open for an exclusive, group-coaching immersion that will teach you the skills to access some serious “enoughness,” start believing in yourself, and speak up for yourself like a bold, boundaried badass. The concept of women empowerment has created a global movement that has driven many women to tap into their full potential and get out of their comfort zone. But has this concept evolved to do the oppositve of what it intended? Is Women Empowerment Actually Disempowering?Today's guest is Diana Perkovic. She's the founder of Good Girl Mafia, a female empowerment company, where "women supporting women" is more than just a cool catch phrase, it's a way of being. As an experienced Empowerment Coach, Diana has come to understand that the way to achieve empowerment amongst women is to cultivate, grow and unleash personal empowerment in one woman at a time. Diana knows firsthand what it's like to be perceived as confident and empowered, while feeling like the complete opposite. Confident enough to interview stars like Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Cary and Mary J Blige on live TV, yet still …disempowered. She couldn't make the life changes that were needed. Diana managed to get unstuck, pivot and thrive… fully empowered. Now she is on a mission to make the empowerment process much easier for other women. She teaches women how to do what she did: Self Empower. She has a Master Certification in Neuro Linguistic Programming, she is a twice-Certified Life Coach, Motivational Coach, Social & Emotional Intelligence Coach. Is there truly a shortcut to success, a magical process called 'manifestation' that negates the need for hard work, effort, and dedication? The truth might be different than what you've heard, and in this episode, hosts Kevin Palmieri and Alan Lazaros set the record straight. They debunk the misconception that everything can be manifested without putting in the requisite sweat and tears. They take the veil off the oversimplified version of manifestation being circulated on social media platforms. What would it mean for you to be without shame? As human beings, as part of nature, we're naturally drawn to wanting to restore balance and peace within our lives, and there are two ways in which we can do it – the healthy way, or the unhealthy way. In today's episode, we dig deep into how we can allow ourselves to feel the things we do not want to feel: shame, anger, grief, and so on, and learn to find the deeper message underneath it. Accompanying me on today's walk are William Walker and David Bryan, and together we discuss shame from multiple angles and views ranging from shame being a protective shield to shame redefining our masculinity. In This Episode (05:54) – Describing the different types of shame. (08:53) – On being riddled and crippled by shame. (17:31) – Disempowering patterns, beliefs, and behaviors. (22:13) – Giving voice to all parts of you, shameful and proud. (32:36) – Beautifully redefining manhood. (35:32) – Shame is your protector. (51:08) – Identifying the definitions of masculinity within you. (51:33) – David recalls a moment of self-accountability and self-acceptance. (1:03:00) – William on how men are terrified of knowing who they are. (1:03:26) – On being accountable to align your souls. (1:11:18) – Creating a compelling vision to justify the pain of change. Notable Quotes “My experience working with a lot of men and also myself is that sometimes men are terrified to know who they are. They're terrified because they built a life in an image around being a certain kind of man, and they're being loved for being a certain kind of man. What if they change what people still love them? Will they still have the status they have? Will their wife still love them? Will their kids still love them? Men are terrified about that because they want to be responsible for their environments and they should be. But there is a part of this I think every man has to face, which is you have to be responsible, but you also have to be true to yourself. If you're not true to yourself, you're going to be miserable. You're going to make people suffer anyway. So you have to do both.” William (1:03:00) “My father stood in front of them, and he said these words. Every one of you on this committee I've gotten to know personally and each of you has shared intimate details about things that you would not want to be mentioned in this room. So, if you're judging me today and you want to excommunicate me, pull the trigger. I've never been more proud of my father than in that moment because he knew his humanity. He knew who he was. He knew he had failed.” David (56:04) Our Guests William Walker coaches men and leaders on their personal and leadership development. Over the past 20 years he has worked with diverse adult and youth populations including men, executives, entrepreneurs, thought leaders, community leaders, inmates, adolescent boys, at-risk teenagers, and university students. He is the author of Walk of Honor and Stories of Sovereign Man and has written several articles on men's health, organizational learning and leadership, personal mastery, and masculinity. David Bryan became a father at 21. Throughout much of his life in both white-collar and blue-collar jobs, he struggled to provide financially, wrestled with a victim mindset, and lived paycheck to paycheck. In 2013, David committed to changing his life and was immersed in the teachings of Tony Robbins, and Eric Thomas, among others. Over the next decade, David went from being homeless to building a multi-million-dollar construction management firm, in the halls of Harvard Business School. Who do you talk to the most? Maybe you're thinking: “my spouse, my kids, my friends, or my coworkers.” This may surprise you but the answer is none of the above. On a daily basis, the person you talk to the most is, without question, yourself. We each have around 70,000 self-talk thoughts a day. And here's the problem—80% of them are negative. When we hear a steady barrage of negative words from the person we talk to by far the most, life becomes anything but simple. Disempowering thoughts (I'm a bad mom, I'm a mess, I'm so overwhelmed, This day is terrible), especially when repeated often, drag us down and complicate our lives. These thoughts distract us from the present moment, keep us from meeting our goals and stop us from fully living our lives; however, what if we could apply the idea of decluttering to this area of life? Joining me today to encourage us as we ‘declutter' negative self-talk is Julia Ubbenga, voice behind the popular social media account and blog, Rich in What Matters. Today Julia will take us through her process of forming better habits around the way we speak to ourselves. -------------------------------Links Discussed in This EpisodeOrder a Copy of Minimalist Moms: Living and Parenting with SimplicityMinimalist Resource: My Hygge Home by Meik WikingDr. Amen's “ANT Catching” tool: https://ahha.org/selfhelp-articles/ant-therapy/Dr. Amen bookArticle “Three things to say to your child every day”The Hope EffectIG Live with Becker: https://www.instagram.com/p/ClHLfG_AwlB/Connect with Julia:website: https://richinwhatmatters.com/instagramShow Notes for EP252: Let's Declutter: Negative Self-TalkEnjoy this Podcast?Post a review and share it! We can unconsciously add stress to our lives with the stories we tell ourselves about our experiences. While this realization can be painful, it is also a doorway to incredible amounts of freedom and possibility. Today's podcast guest co-wrote a documentary film entitled: “Is Your Story Making You Sick?” We discussed the potential for relief from pain and stress.
