Missouri has a long and legendary history of Bigfoot sightings within the state. The Missouri Monster, or MoMo, was made famous from well-publicized sightings in 1971, with witnesses describing a creature with a foul smell and a large head. So this week I'm looking at Bigfoot sightings in Taney County, home to the tourist city of Branson, Missouri! This is another audience member requested episode, and stories this week include road crossings just outside of Branson, two separate families having their property approached by Bigfoot in Forsyth, and two friends encounter a Sasquatch on a trail on the outskirts of Branson - and a juvenile creature seems to be tagging along! Buckle your seatbelt and prepare for take-off. Here is "Fireside" Al Maitland's classic reading of "The Shepherd", by the late Frederick Forsyth.Mr. Forsyth lived many lives before becoming a best-selling author, including the life of a RAF pilot. He told us what it's like to be thousands of metres in the sky when fog sets in, and how that experience inspired his haunting Christmas story. When Tony Kent was growing up reading gripping thrillers, including "The Day of the Jackal," he never imagined that one day he would help write Mr. Forsyth's final novel -- and that he'd be on the same book cover as the man he idolized. The annual broadcast of "The Shepherd" has become a tradition for the program. And, that is in large part because of the calls and emails we've received from listeners ever since it first aired in 1979.

Keith Forsyth began his flying journey with skydiving, then speed flying and wing suit base jumping but the lack of margin in speed flying and base lead him to XC Paragliding, where he's been drawing lines across the Pacific Northwest with what can only be described as a magical and inspired paintbrush. If you haven't been to the Pacific Northwest think alpine rain forest and big, jagged glaciated mountains. Rain, lots and lots of rain. DENSE impenetrable forest, deep gorges, few roads, lots of bugs, and very few places to land. Keith has been laying down bivvy lines across the Cascade and Olympic ranges of Washington and Oregon and Coast Ranges of British Colombia the last few years that are ambitious, bold, and absolutely breathtaking. Keith waits for a good forecast, packs up to 7 days of food, sometimes adds a packraft and takes to the skies. Sometimes the mission involves some pretty memorable bushwacking, other times a glorious paddle out and some fishing along the way, other times he'll find himself top landing an alpine meadow and sharing some space with a black bear.

Top Stories for November 29th Publish Date: November 29th PRE-ROLL: SUGAR HILL ICE SKATING From the BG AD Group Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Saturday, November 29th and Happy Birthday to Vin Scully I’m Peyton Spurlock and here are your top stories presented by Gwinnett KIA Mall of Georgia. Piedmont Oncology Opens Early Detection Pancreatic Cancer Clinic, First of Its Kind in Georgia You can now use a digital driver’s license to buy beer, cigarettes in Georgia Musical events, attractions to get into the magical spirit of the holiday season All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: Kia Mall of Georgia STORY 1: Piedmont Oncology Opens Early Detection Pancreatic Cancer Clinic, First of Its Kind in Georgia Piedmont Oncology just opened Georgia’s first Early Detection Pancreatic Cancer Clinic, and honestly, it’s a big deal. Pancreatic cancer is brutal—13% five-year survival rate, no screening test, vague symptoms that sneak up on you. But this clinic? It’s here to change that. Dr. Andrew Page, the clinic’s medical director, says early detection is everything. “Education about risk factors is critical,” he explained. The clinic will focus on genetic counseling, research collaborations with NIH and Mayo Clinic, and, hopefully, developing a much-needed screening test. None of this would’ve happened without donors like Purple Pansies. Their support is saving lives. STORY 2: You can now use a digital driver’s license to buy beer, cigarettes in Georgia Big news for Georgians: you can now use a digital driver’s license to buy alcohol, tobacco, and other age-restricted items. Yep, your phone just got even more useful. The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) announced the update Monday, calling it a “major step forward” in modernizing IDs. But here’s the catch: it’s up to individual businesses to accept them. No guarantees. Oh, and don’t try using a screenshot—doesn’t count. Retailers need a special mDL reader to scan the license, and staff still have to verify your age. Progress? Sure. Perfect? Not quite yet. STORY 3: Musical events, attractions to get into the magical spirit of the holiday season It’s that time again—holiday magic is everywhere, and Atlanta’s got no shortage of ways to celebrate. From concerts to tree lightings, here’s what’s happening: Holiday Shows at the FOX Theatre: Lauren Daigle’s Behold Christmas Tour (Dec. 4): Grammy-winning magic. Christmas Together (Dec. 6): Amy Grant, Cece Winans, and Michael W. Smith. A Drummer Boy Christmas (Dec. 8): for King + Country’s festive storytelling. Elf the Musical (Dec. 16–20): Buddy’s heartwarming journey. Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet (Dec. 23–24): Ballet meets acrobatics. Festive Attractions: Stone Mountain’s Flight to the North Pole (Nov. 8–Jan. 4): Help Santa save Christmas. Garden of Lights (Nov. 15–Jan. 11): Stroll through dazzling displays. Georgia Aquarium Holidays (Nov. 14–Jan. 2): Twinkling lights, Santa, and sea life. Don’t miss these great events! We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We’ll be right back Break 2: Ingles Markets - DTL HOLIDAY STORY 4: Student loan change could drain nurse pipeline, Ga. dean warns Nursing is no longer considered a “professional degree” by the U.S. Department of Education, and nurses are, understandably, furious. The change, tied to the “One Big Beautiful Bill”, means nursing students can’t access the $200,000 loan cap reserved for professional programs. Instead, they’re stuck with a $100,000 limit—less than what many need to cover tuition. Linda McCauley, dean of Emory’s Nursing School, didn’t hold back: “In a time when we desperately need more nurses, why make it harder? It feels like they didn’t think this through.” The fallout? Fewer nurses, more debt, and a lot of frustration. STORY 5: Flight delays: Here are your rights when flying over the holidays in 2025 Stuck at the airport? Here’s a tip: if your flight’s delayed more than three hours (domestic) or six hours (international), you’ve got rights. Travel expert Katy Nastro says airlines must offer a refund or rebook you—your choice. But here’s the catch: no double-dipping. You can’t get both. And meal vouchers? Only if the delay’s the airline’s fault, like staffing or mechanical issues. Hotels? Depends on the airline. The Department of Transportation even published a guide for what airlines owe you. Pro tip: screenshots of your license don’t count for ID. Break 3: BUFORD HOLIDAY FESTIVAL STORY 6: Forsyth school board approves use of same alarm system in place at Apalachee High School Forsyth County schools are stepping up safety with a $2.4 million Centegix alarm system, approved by the Board of Education this week. You’ve probably heard of these “panic alarms”—they’re the same system credited with the quick response during the tragic Apalachee High School shooting last year. Teachers and staff wear a button they can press in emergencies, instantly alerting law enforcement without fumbling for a phone. The system also includes color-coded strobe lights for visual alerts, ensuring ADA compliance. The first year’s cost? $420,000, with the rest spread over five years. Safety, it seems, is getting an upgrade. STORY 7: Recall alert: Honda recalls 256K vehicles for loss of power software error Honda’s recalling over 256,000 vehicles—specifically 2023–2025 Accord Hybrids—because of a software glitch that could cause the car to lose power mid-drive. Not ideal, right? The issue? The integrated control module’s CPU might reset itself while you’re cruising along. Dealers will fix it for free, though, so there’s that. Honda says owners will get a heads-up by mail starting Jan. 5, but if you’re the impatient type (or just worried), you can call them at 888-234-2138. Oh, and if you’re curious, the recall number is TN2. Stay safe out there! Every property manager knows the dread of that maintenance request that lands late on a Friday afternoon, the leaky tap that turns into a flood, the broken fence that's been “in progress” for 6 months, or the tenant complaint that snowballs into a claim against your agency. Investors expect fast, cost effective solutions. Tenants want safety and comfort restored. Trades need clear instructions, access and approvals. In the middle sits a Property Manager who was rarely taught the technical bits at licence level, yet carries the consequences when something is missed. In this episode, I chat with Corinne and Shelby about the real skills property managers need to manage maintenance effectively. They share how better training, stronger relationships with trades, and a proactive approach can prevent costly mistakes and lift the standard of property management across the industry. This conversation reframes maintenance as a professional advantage, not just a pain point, we chat about what's missing in current PM education, why too many teams are xxx and how their Trade Education Event gives property managers real world tools they can take straight back to the office, practical training that makes a genuine difference to how maintenance is handledI was five years into my property management career before I knew that a rust spot on a flexi hose means it's about to burst and that knowledge could have saved thousands of dollars in water damage - Corrine ForsythWe cover:The common maintenance misunderstandings that leave property managers exposedWhy most Property Management qualifications don't teach real world maintenance or troubleshooting skillsHow to build a core network of trusted trades who support and educate your teamThe importance of proactive training, continuing professional development, and accountability for self developmentHow the right trade training can make your maintenance process easier and more effective and can help your team handle maintenance betterWhy strong communication and clear internal expectations with your team can reduce risk and improve serviceHow collaborative industry events can replace competition with shared learning and build a strong network of relationships around youWhy hands on experience and real life learning help property managers feel more confident when inspecting and managing propertiesKylie's Resources:Property Management Growth School: https://courses.thatpropertymum.com.au/TPM-BDMSchool Digital Marketing School: https://courses.thatpropertymum.com.au/digitalschool That Property Mum Courses: https://www.thatpropertymum.com.au/courses/ The PM Accelerate Membership: https://courses.thatpropertymum.com.au/accelerate Book a Strategy Call with Kylie: https://calendly.com/kylie-tpm/coaching-call Kolmeo: https://kolmeo.com/ Find out about our Done for You Lead Generation -

When I first started in property management, things felt very different to how they do today. You didn't really connect with the agency down the road, and you certainly didn't sit down with other property managers for a coffee and a chat. Everyone was guarding their rent rolls, and it was more about competing than sharing. The problem is, working that way can feel pretty lonely. Property management is already a tough job, and without a support network it's easy to burn out or feel like you're the only one facing certain challenges.Thankfully, we're starting to see a real shift. More and more property managers are opening up, collaborating, and building communities that make the work lighter, smarter and far more enjoyable. In this episode I chat with Corinne Forsyth, Head of Property Management at Ray White Beenleigh and Redland Bay, who has been right at the centre of this change. Starting out on the front desk at just 16, she's worked her way through just about every role in the industry. Now she leads a team of 10 and plays an active part in creating spaces for property managers to connect from local “Coffees and Conversations” meetups to a brand new industry book club. “  You can get further in life by working with people rather than constantly being pitted against each other, because that's a pretty miserable way to have a career.” - Corrine ForsythWe cover:Why collaboration over competition in property management is helping to lift industry standards and reduce burnoutHow to host a Coffees and Conversations event that brings property managers together and builds a supportive local networkThe retention benefits of encouraging your property management team to network, learn and grow outside the officeHow Corinne's experience in sales and overcoming burnout shaped her confidence and leadership in property managementWhy consistent property management training and external voices can improve your team's performance and client serviceHow the PM Book Club is creating a new space for property managers to connect, share ideas and focus on self development.Practical BDM strategies that free up time, improve data collection and drive sustainable rent roll growthWhy business owners need to see property management as the true asset of their agency and how this mindset shift can increase long term value.Kylie's Resources:Property Management Growth School: https://courses.thatpropertymum.com.au/TPM-BDMSchool Digital Marketing School: https://courses.thatpropertymum.com.au/digitalschool That Property Mum Courses: https://www.thatpropertymum.com.au/courses/ The PM Accelerate Membership: https://courses.thatpropertymum.com.au/accelerate Book a Strategy Call with Kylie: https://calendly.com/kylie-tpm/coaching-call Kolmeo: https://kolmeo.com/ Sensor Global: https://sensorinsure.com/

David Forsyth continues his examination of the pretribulational rapture doctrine, presenting five additional biblical reasons supporting this eschatological position. The pretribulational rapture view suggests that the tribulation period primarily serves Jewish purposes, preparing Israel to receive its Messiah and enter the new covenant. This perspective allows for mortal believers to populate the millennial kingdom and accounts for Christ's promise in John 14:1-3 to prepare a place for His followers.Furthermore, the pretribulational rapture provides adequate time for the Bema seat judgment of the church while explaining the notable silence regarding the church in Revelation 6-19. Through careful examination of prophetic terminology and biblical passages, Forsyth builds a comprehensive case that the church will be delivered before the seven-year tribulation period begins, offering believers comfort and hope in Christ's imminent return. ★ Support this podcast ★

Welcome back to the It's All Greek Retrospective series that contains previously aired short segments about gardening acronyms, jargon, and botanical nomenclature. In this third and last part of a series, Master Gardener Jean Thomas covers plants that have been named after people, a discussion about soil pH, and a range of acronyms. The first short segment covers the popularity of naming plants for people. It's been going on since people began naming plants at all, dating back to at least four centuries BC. Two causes are usually to blame; either the ego of the “discoverer” or the desire to flatter someone powerful. There are often great stories to uncover. One of the most interesting is the name of the Christmas standard, the Poinsettia (not poinTsettia). Dr, Joel Poinsett was the first U.S. Ambassador to Mexico and an avid plant collector. His life story is a colorful one, but the only reason anyone remembers his name is because of the seasonal flower. Actually, the history of the flower and its interaction with humans is equally interesting. Some other names every gardener is familiar with are: Forsyth because this gentleman (1737-1804) was a respected palace gardener in England and was honored with the name of the familiar Forsythia; Kasper Wister (died in 1818) was a famous botanist in Pennsylvania and honored with the name of the popular Wisteria. Wister and Forsyth were honored by the English botanist Thomas Nuttall (1786-1859), who spent over thirty years cataloging plants in the U.S., and had the power to assign formal names to plants. The familiar Magnolia x soulangeana was named by and for Pierre Magnol and m. Soulange-Boudin, and developed from two Chinese species. Many familiar shrubs bear the species names (like Sargentii( C.S. Sargent), Fortuneii (R. Fortune), Thunbergii ( Carl Peter Thunberg)), named for contemporaries and students of Linnaeus. Many plant and animal names honor the interesting Pere Armand David with the appelation “davidii.” The familiar Fuchsia (Dr. Fuchs) and Dahlia (Dr. Dahl) are good herbaceous examples. The large Lobelia group (415 species) was named by Linnaeus himself for Dr. Mathias De Lobile. The conversation then moves on to one of the great topics discussed by gardeners without a real understanding of the mechanism. The pH of soil is crucially important and measured and adjusted fanatically by gardeners. The way the chemistry works is described, starting with the litmus papers we dealt with in school science classes. Cations and anions are the active ions that determine how soil makes nutrition available to plants. A scale is used, with one end called acid and the other end called alkaline. The place on the scale tells the soil's description as to what kinds of nutrients are best assimilated. “Acid” soil is best for blueberries and Rhododendrons and “Alkaline” soil is better for Lilacs and Spirea. Gardeners assiduously “adjust” the soil with amendments like sulfur or wood ash, remembering that this takes several seasons to effect. Jean closes this segment with an aside about names where she wonders about Monkshood, Begonias and Darth Vader. The final segment moves on to acronyms, which translates to “names from the extremities.” It refers to new names for things created from the initials of word describing the things. Like Scuba, Laser, and Yahoo. There is also another related usage of initials called initialism, where the actual letters are sounded out, not merged into a new word. For instance, AT&T or DEC. Both of these practices are twentieth century phenomena. Further discussion of acronyms leads us to AVID, CRISP and PRISM, all popular programs in New York, devised by Cornell and the NY Department of Conservation. In a nutshell, the ideal acronym is an invented word that should either help recognize its subject or be catchy enough to be memorable and relatable to its subject. As I have told many of my patients, I would write immediately when NC sees its first Measles case. Well, North Carolina has its first measles case: The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed a case of measles in a child who was visiting Forsyth and Guilford counties. The child became ill while traveling to NC from another country where measles outbreaks have recently been reported. To protect the individual and their family's privacy, no additional information about this individual will be released. This is the first confirmed case of measles in the state in 2025. NCDHHS is recommending all unvaccinated individuals ages one year and older receive measles vaccination to protect themselves and those around them. (NCDHHS) So, it is finally in NC. If you are still on the fence of whether to vaccinate, the issue is now truly pressing. From the CDC: U.S. Hospitalizations in 2025 12% of cases hospitalized (148 of 1227) Percent of Age Group Hospitalized Under 5 years: 20% (72 of 355 cases) 50% of the total hospitalized. FESTIVAL STORY 1: Federal loan to help finance Georgia 400 toll lanes Georgia 400’s getting a major upgrade, and the federal government just handed over a massive $3.89 billion loan to make it happen. It’s the biggest loan ever awarded under the Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA), and it’s all going toward adding toll lanes in Fulton and Forsyth counties. The project, a $4.6 billion public-private partnership, will add two toll lanes in each direction along a 16-mile stretch—from the North Springs MARTA station to just north of McFarland Parkway. Expected to open in 2031, the lanes could save drivers 15 minutes per trip and cut crashes by 8%. Gov. Brian Kemp called it a win for Georgia’s transportation network, while Javier Gutierrez, CEO of SR400 Peach Partners, said the loan is a “game-changer.” Oh, and there’s a transit twist: $75 million will go toward bus rapid transit improvements along the corridor. Optional tolls, faster commutes, and a nod to public transit—progress, right? STORY 2: Mass shooting wounds five soldiers at Fort Stewart  Chaos broke out Wednesday morning at Fort Stewart, southwest of Savannah, when five soldiers were shot in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area. The alleged shooter, Sgt. Quornelius Radford, 28, was apprehended by 11:35 a.m., thanks to nearby soldiers who tackled and subdued him before law enforcement arrived. Radford, who used a personal handgun, has no combat history but does have a recent DUI on his record. The victims, initially treated on-site, were later transported to Winn Army Community Hospital. Two were sent to Savannah’s Memorial Health for advanced care. All are stable and expected to recover, according to Brig. Gen. John Lubas. Gov. Brian Kemp and Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock expressed their prayers and support for the victims and the Fort Stewart community. The base went into lockdown within minutes, though it was lifted an hour later, except for the combat team complex. Investigators are still piecing together how Radford got the gun onto the base—and why he did it. STORY 3: Developer looking to build industrial park near Ball Ground Cherokee County leaders are gearing up for a public hearing in September to decide whether a developer can build 10 office and industrial buildings near Ball Ground. The Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Aug. 5 to schedule the hearing for 6 p.m. on Sept. 16 at the Cherokee County Conference Center in Canton. The developer, Ball Ground Business Park, LLC, wants to rezone 69 acres on East Cherokee Drive from residential and office use to light industrial. The plan? Ten buildings, 325,000 square feet total, with 330 parking spaces. The developer insists the light industrial zoning won’t bring noise or odors, but the Planning Commission has already recommended denying the request. Commission Chairman Harry Johnston, however, isn’t sold on the denial. “It’s across from the landfill—the largest east of the Mississippi—and next to a wastewater plant. Industrial use seems logical,” he said, pushing for the additional hearing. Access to the site would include driveways on East Cherokee Drive and Cokers Chapel Road, with deceleration lanes planned to manage traffic. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info.    We’ll be right back. Break: HISTORY CHEROKEE STORY 4: Cherokee County leaders vote to hold property tax rates steady The Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to keep property tax rates steady for 2025, holding the maintenance and operations (M&O) millage rate at 5.153 mills. Fire services will stay at 2.888 mills, and the parks bond rate drops slightly to 0.26 mills, for a total of 8.301 mills. Even with no rate increase, rising property values mean the county will collect more tax revenue. For a $500,000 homestead property, that’s about $35.88 more than the rollback rate. Residents voiced concerns about budget cuts, especially to the sheriff’s office, during public hearings. “Don’t tax us into foreclosure,” one resident pleaded. Cherokee still boasts one of the lowest millage rates in metro Atlanta, with the parks bond expected to be paid off by 2029. STORY 5: Woodstock officials celebrate the groundbreaking for Little River Park Woodstock finally broke ground Tuesday on the long-anticipated Little River Park—a project that’s been years in the making. Spanning 110 acres, it’ll be the city’s largest park once finished, complete with a scenic trail hugging Little River, a lake for fishing and kayaking, and plenty more. The land, tucked along Trickum Road, was purchased back in 2017. Fast forward to 2023: 87% of voters said “yes” to a parks bond, giving the city the funds to speed things up. In June, the council approved an $8 million contract to get construction rolling. If all goes as planned, the park opens in late 2026. In this powerful episode of the Growth Now Movement, I sit down with my good friend Christy Forsyth—a licensed mental health counselor, certified clinical hypnotherapist, intuitive, and life coach—for a raw and transformative conversation about healing, energy, and spiritual growth. Christy takes us through her incredible evolution from a traditional therapist working in mental health clinics to becoming the founder of Soul Therapy, a dynamic approach that fuses clinical psychology with spirituality, energy work, and intuitive guidance. Her journey is one of courage, authenticity, and divine alignment—proving that you don't have to choose between science and spirit. You can integrate both. We explore her early experiences with intuitive gifts, how she used to suppress them in fear of being misunderstood, and how embracing those gifts allowed her to help clients on a deeper level. In this episode of the Bourbon Road podcast, hosts Jim Shannon and Todd Ritter are joined by Joe O'Sullivan, Master Distiller at Minden Mill Distilling, for an in-depth exploration of their unique Nevada-born spirits. This episode offers a fascinating look into the world of estate distilling, where Minden Mill grows 85% of its own grains right in the challenging high-altitude climate of Nevada, just a stone's throw from Lake Tahoe . The conversation kicks off with a tasting of the Minden Mill Nevada Straight Rye. O'Sullivan details its 80% rye, 10% wheat, and 10% barley grain bill, all grown on-site . A standout feature of Minden Mill's process is their innovative solution to Nevada's harsh aging climate. Due to a staggering 3% angel's share loss per month in the dry local environment, they employ a climate-controlled rickhouse that precisely mimics the temperature and humidity of Bardstown, Kentucky. This 94-proof, 4-year-old rye delivers a distinct "candied orange" flavor profile, a direct result of its unique terroir and estate-grown winter rye . The hosts are immediately impressed by its sweetness and complexity, noting it drinks well beyond its age . Next, they dive into the Nevada Straight Bourbon, a four-grain whiskey featuring a special heirloom "earth tones" corn. Unlike the sweet yellow dent corn, this starchy variety is compared to a potato raw but transforms through the distilling process to produce a remarkable "cherry cola" note . This bourbon, also 4 years old and 94 proof, is aged in the same Kentucky-mimicking conditions and utilizes wooden foeders for fermentation, which adds a layer of complexity similar to a sourdough starter. The hosts praise its unique, cool, and fresh sweetness that coats the palate. The final tasting features the 5-year-old American Single Malt, a category O'Sullivan is deeply passionate about, having been mentored by Steve McCarthy, the pioneer of the first American single malt. This expression is a testament to technological and traditional craftsmanship. It's produced using custom Forsyth stills and a thermal oil calandria heating system that achieves a Maillard reaction, creating high-ester, flavorful whiskey right off the still. The aging process is just as intricate, taking place in a rickhouse that emulates the chilly, coastal climate of Ballindalloch, Scotland, and uses a combination of new American oak, used bourbon barrels, STRs, and Oloroso sherry casks . The result is a whiskey with a nose of deep, sweet honey-pear and butterscotch apricot. Throughout the episode, O'Sullivan shares insights into their water source from the Sierra Nevada snowpack, their in-house malting facility, and the collaborative spirit of the American whiskey industry. He also gives a glimpse into the future of Minden Mill, including experimental heirloom corns like Jimmy Red and upcoming special releases finished in unique casks like orange wine barrels .
