Odds and Ends: Why not honor the end of the year by having another discussion about AI and physical media preservation? We also talk about Hot Frosty, and other not-actually-that-bad Hallmark-esque Christmas movies. There's not a lot. Feature Film: We try to discern the baffling Christmas TV special that is clearly vying for holiday classic status, but uhh... isn't that. Headed by an all-star voice cast and one of the ugliest animation styles you will ever see, this is at least not one you'll forget for a while, just maybe not in the way they intended. For the annual CRUEL X-MAS watch, Christian Zyp punishes the eyes of Mark Davies and Lucas Anders by having them watch the animated Christmas special "Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe in Santa".Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe in Santa is a CGI musical Christmas special that aired once during the 2002 holiday season in syndication and on WB+ (a prepackaged channel for smaller markets). Since it never aired again after that, it was considered to be lost for over a decade. It finally resurfaced on the Internet in 2015 to widespread mockery for its extremely poor quality, most notably its unfinished, stiff, dated (even for its era) computer animation. The plot of the special focuses on a spoiled rich girl named Nicole (Paige O'Hara) throwing away a teddy bear given by one of her classmates and later scrambling to find it after learning of its sentimental background.
This Saturday morning, for Christmas in July, Joseph and Chris watched Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe in Santa, from 2002. This was chosen by our lovely editor, Jack...out of spite, I assume? Thankssss, Jack... A boy named Ricky wants to give his crush Nicole a gift for Christmas. When he does she angrily rejects it as in her eyes it's "cheap". She later regrets her mistake and decides to find it. In 2002, an animated Christmas special by Colin Slater and Wolf Tracer Studios played for around a month on The WB. It's cast was loaded with Mark Hamill and many more and it's lead animator had worked on a video game version of The Matrix. The results were the opposite, and Dave hated every second of this episode. Happy Holidays from It's Been Awhile! This is the one that almost killed the boys. This special is an abomination from hell. When you see it, you will wonder how humanity has actually been able to come this far. You will question life itself. There's not really any way to describe this special. It's animated. It's about Christmas. It has the worst animation ever to be created. And, yet, it also has really huge stars voicing the characters. We don't recommend you watch this. We don't really even think you should listen to this episode. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcDZiuyvw64js-zvBe9h_mTseycBaaZkE (WATCH) Recorded & Published by Golden Ox Studios - https://goldenoxstudio.com/ (https://goldenoxstudio.com/) SUBSCRIBE TO THE PODCAST: https://www.networkspecialpodcast.com/listen (https://www.networkspecialpodcast.com/listen) SOCIAL MEDIA https://twitter.com/netspecialpod (https://twitter.com/netspecialpod) https://www.facebook.com/networkspecial (https://www.facebook.com/networkspecial) http://instagram.com/networkspecial (http://instagram.com/networkspecial) https://www.tiktok.com/@networkspecial (https://www.tiktok.com/@networkspecial)

Live from the convention, Prede and Jon discuss the return of Otakon! They discuss many of the panels and events at Otakon 2021. On Friday, Prede discussed Daryl Surat's “Thirty Years Ago: Anime in 1991” Panel (including the infamous “is this a pigeon meme” from the 1991 anime “The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird”) which was one his favorites of the weekend, “Shoujo Rock Heaven” that detailed some all girl Japanese rock bands, “The Best Openings for Shows You (Probably) Didn't See” (also by Daryl Surat and the rest of AWO, much to Prede and Jon's irk, they did not include “Gunsmith Cats”). Friday also had “Bad Anime, Bad On Panel”, which showed some horrible anime. The Christmas cartoon featured in that panel is “Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe in Santa”, please don't watch it it's torture). Prede got to watch a real Japanese Tea Demonstration featuring Inosuke Hashibira from “Demon Slayer” (Really? YES!). The Satoshi Kon panel by Otaku Nate was incredibly helpful and interesting. They also discuss the video game concert, Open World. Saturday, Prede got to learn about Japanese Law through Ace Attorney, both attended the AnimEigo panel, Prede talked about the excitement at the Discotek panel and their amazing announcement of their plans to release and dub the Gainax classic Gunbuster! Prede learns he can't make Origami, and he sat in on “Your Anime is an 80's Movie!” which got a lot of criticism online. Ultimately a very educational con! This month, Kerry and Collin dive into a direct-to-video sequel to one of the greatest animated films of all time, as well as a Christmas special that has gained notoriety as one of the very worst of all time. Both feature the voice of Paige O'Hara.
Happy New Year, everyone! We're back in the saddle after a long winter's nap, and after this week's episode we may be rethinking that... This week we unravel the baffling existence of Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe in Santa! This computer-animated special aired in 2002 on the now-defunct WB channel. It was lost to history for years until internet sleuths dug it up and rescued it from obscurity. Rapsittie Street Kids tests the limits of what can rightly be called animation. With real Hollywood voice talent and a handful of musical numbers, there's no denying the effort, but...well, you have to see it to believe it! Questions/Comments? Wow.... animation doesn't get much uglier than this one. An Urban Legend visits us in the night this Christmas! And it couldn't look worse if a computer made it in 1988! In fact it couldn't look worse if you actually tried to make something look fucked up. Case in point: Some glorious animation that intentionally looks fucked up THAT looks better than THIS!Its better animated, it has better collision detection, there is better timing, better backgrounds, better EVERYTHING! ...well except for its voice cast..because Rapsittie has Jodi Benson and Mark Effin' Hamill.... Well I shudder to say it...but its Christmas Time again, and that spells pain for the Cartoon Lampoon Podcast. We call in the big guns this week with Special Guest Gloria McAndrew from previous holiday themed episode The 12 Days of Christmas.
