Today we have a very special episode of "Prime Time with Alex Stein," as Alex is in the midst of a very important legal battle. As we teased last week, Alex is fighting a vital First Amendment case in his lawsuit against Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins. The implications for this case could be far-reaching depending on the outcome. Joining us in the studio is Emmanuel Lewis, a former detention service officer with the Dallas County Jail who previously worked in the Dallas County Elections Department. He's been fighting malfeasance and mismanagement of the county jail under the leadership of Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins. Sponsors: Factor Meals Ready to optimize your nutrition this year? Add some more explicit warnings—Dori will make you blush and confuse Emmanuelle with Emmanuel Lewis. What happens when you return Sly Stallone's call? You make a song with more “Bams” than the entire Rocky franchise. Dori reviews '80s anime, and Paulo discovers a forgotten Keanu Reeves film that may have inspired his Bill & Ted character—but definitely features Aunt Becky in her undies. Full House, anyone? Upon the discovery of their existence, It Happened One Year had no choice but to reconvene before the holiday and discuss the brain-melting lunacy of 1984's top TV holiday specials - Mr. T & Emmanuel Lewis in A Christmas Dream and Scrooge's Rock 'N' Roll Christmas starring Jack Elam. Sarah & Joe's wildly different opinions about this yuletide fare serve as a backdrop to an episode clearly recorded on the fly, whenever a spare moment could be grabbed, to some unconventional IHOY effect.

What's up, dudes? I pity the fool who misses this episode all about the toughest man in the world! Yes, Bradley Lyndon from Million Monkey Theater joins me to talk all about the team up between Mr. T and Emmanuel Lewis in this wacky 1984 special! Mr. T stars as Benny, a Salvation Army-style Santa who meets a young latch-key kid, played by Emmanuel Lewis of TV's Webster, who seems to have lost his Christmas spirit. Mr. T sets out to change Billy's mind, taking him around the city to all the touristy must see spots! First up is FAO Schwartz, where David Copperfield gives him an ‘80s cigarette smoke filled magic lesson. There's even an Olympic figure skater routine at Rockefeller Center! The duo then proceed to Radio City Music Hall, where Maureen McGovern serenades them with Christmas songs. In typical kid fashion, Webster falls asleep watching a rehearsal and consequently imagines himself as one of the toy soldiers in the Rockettes' Christmas Show. Oh yeah, he also meets Willie Tyler and his dummy Lester. Naturally, in the big holiday finale, he's moved to realize the true meaning of Christmas, before being reunited with his workaholic parents. This one's got it all! ‘80s icons? Check. Former variety show stars? Yup. The true meaning of Christmas? As only Mr. T could tell it! So grab your gold chains, pack your trick quarter and cigarettes, and take an incredibly expensive carriage ride to this episode!Million Monkey TheaterFB: @MillionMonkeyTheaterIG: @millionmonkeytheaterCheck us out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Totally Rad Christmas Mall & Arcade, Teepublic.com, or TotallyRadChristmas.com!

Interview with Emmanuel Lewis by @djcyclops and @mochathemack
Emmanuel Lewis is a former Detention Service Officer with the Dallas County Jail and previously worked in the Dallas County Elections Department. His intuition and attention to the political landscape in Dallas County is impressive. He is sounding the alarms on the malfeasance and mismanagement of the county jail under the leadership of Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins. He describes some of the major issues of safety and security in the jail, as well as hundreds of thousands of missing funds. Emmanuel has written and submitted multiple op-eds to local media sources to underscore this issue. He is exploring an employment lawsuit with the county relating to the hypocrisy and violations. The way the county deals with mental health issues in Dallas is to deposit them in the jail system rather than establishing a proper continuum of care to deal with the increasing crisis which was exacerbated by the tyrannical lockdowns. Emmanuel provides practical solutions to this important issue. Social Impact Podcast is brought to you by:OBBM Network Brands1st Safety Training, 214-808-9757Social Impact Podcast is on Spotify! Oh, listener. Dear, sweet listener. I know. I KNOW. Marc Hershon here, your every-other-weekly-host and I am once again late putting out an episode – this one #309 - of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. Apologies! Unlike last time, I'm not going to cheap out and pull an moldy oldie from the Succotash archives. I actually have a real passel o' soundcast clips for you this time, all freshly harvested. Before I get into what I have in store for you, did you get a chance to hear last week's Epi308 and what our alternating host Tyson Saner was serving up? It was a delicious trio of debut episodes form the soundcasts The Tumbler's Willy Podcast, No One Can Know About This: A Podcast Where We Play Every Final Fantasy, and Just Say Julie. It's not too late to put it in your ears – simply head over to Apple & Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Amazon Music, Audible.com, iHeart Radio, YouTube, Soundcloud, Podbay, Podchaser, and on our own homesite, SuccotashShow.com. Okay. So WHAT in the world can I surprise and delight you with today? How about clips from a mixed bag of shows, some you may have heard of and maybe some you are not so aware of like Big Facts, No Cap; CoDependent; Penn's Sunday School; and Penny For Your Thoughts. And because they are always here whether we want them to be or not, another ad from our longtime, non-paying sponsor Henderson's Pants with their amazing Klept-O-Matic Trousers. CLIPS Big Facts, No CapI love that a line in this first show's description goes, “Truly a show no one asked for.” That could apply to this show as well, but Paul and Adrian jumped on it first for Big Facts, No Cap. It's a soundcast, “in which two normal dudes with highly overlapping worldviews give advice to online strangers who will probably never hear it. Using questions from advice columns ranging in scope from dating to pet care to religion and everything in between, Paul and Adrian deliver the best suggestions they can muster off the top of their lovely yet largely vacant heads.” Love it. Super simple, succinct description of this show. This clip is from their recent episode entitled, “99 Problems”, where they've gotten into talking about rude people and a woman at Trader Joes in particular. CodependentCodependent with Mayce and Jordan features the two namesake hosts, Mayce Galoni and Jordan Scherer, every week taking about friendship, feelings, and questionable dietary choices. Both guys are comedians and they have been called “weirdly close” by both relatives and girlfriends. They recently rolled out kind of a mini-series in successive episode entitled “Curmudgeon” – this clip is from “Curmudgeon 3”, where they guys ruminate on who was the person who decided on the dates on the calendar? Penn's Sunday SchoolHosted by magician and comedian Penn Jillette – you know, from Penn & Teller – along with Michael Goudeau and Matt Donnelly kick around the news of the week. And YOU can be part of the confab, because this is a live show that kicks off at high noon on Sundays Las Vegas time on Twitch TV, which they then punt into a podcast by Monday morning. Our clip is from very recently – June 11th, 2022 – and features guest Robert “Bob” Corn-Revere, their resident 1st Amendment attorney who gets into free speech and pornography and whether the founding fathers of the USA got into that stuff. Penny For Your ThoughtsLast but not least is our clip from soundcast Penny for Your Thoughts. Hosted by comedian Jake Penny and a rotating cavalcade of co-hosts, we look to the beginning of this month of June, 2022, and fellow comedian Emmanuel Lewis. The guys talk about performing comedy and, in this clip, thinking back to the early days of starting out and figuring it out. The show notes on Buzzsprout says it all: “Real laid back zoom podcasting just talking comedy and old stories.” That's going to do it for me for now. I'm in the process of moving to an entirely new house in an entirely different area of the state of California so the next time you hear my voice, it will be coming from my new soundcast studio in process! Check back next week in this very same stream for Tyson Saner and his soundcast stylings for Episode 310. And in the meantime, if you're sitting on the bus, minding your own business, and some ne'er-do-well shoves a shiv in your ribs and asks if you've heard anything good lately, save your life please pass the Succotash. — Marc Hershon

The focus was largely on how this impulsively married couple had to adjust to their new lives and sudden parenthood, but it was the congenial Webster himself who drove much of the plot. Like NBC's earlier series Diff'rent Strokes, Webster featured a young African-American boy adopted by a wealthy white family. (Wikipedia). Who is contractually obligated to compete in a beauty contest? Why does no one else work at Ferguson's? And what is the self-help craze that is sweeping the nation? We put on our tuxedos to discuss these questions and more as we watch Season 8, Episode 17 of Family Matters. Alex Diamond, David Kenny, and John McDaniel heard that the long-running network sitcom Family Matters ends with side character Steve Urkel going to space. And the best way to figure out how that happened - obviously - is to watch the last episode first and make our way backwards through nearly ten years of television.Join our countdown to number one (and our slow descent into madness) in all the places you expect internet people to be:Website: jumpingtheshuttle.spaceEmail: jumpingtheshuttle@gmail.comInstagram: @JumpingTheShuttle / @ThatAlexD / @dak577Twitter: @JumpingShuttle / @ThatAlexD / @dak577

Nick Lowe And His Sound - [What's So Funny 'Bout] Peace Love and Understanding (1974) Nick Lowe And His Sound was Nick Lowe backed by Elvis Costello & The Attractions. Art Reynold Singers - Jesus Is Just Alright (1966) This is the first version of the song that went to #35 for The Doobie Brothers. As the first gospel group to record for Capitol Records, they soon became pioneers in the development of “gospel rock”. Many considered their music too secular for the time. Their first album Tellin’ It Like It Is went on to become one of the biggest selling albums for a new gospel group. “Jesus Is Just Alright” was also covered by The Byrds. Arthur Prysock - Here's To Good Friends (1978) POACA will recall this as being the foundation for the Lowenbrau commercials. But Arthur Prysock's first single came out 20 years before this. Burton Cummings - You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet (1976) Buzz and Joey - The Willing Conscript (1965) Written by Gary Paxton. Joey Putzer changed his last name to Edmonds and formed a duo with comic Thom Curley. They appeared on Johnny Carson's "Tonight" show and many others. Edmonds later formed a talent agency in Chicago. Chicago Climax Blues Band - Seventh Son (1971) Emmanuel Lewis - City Connection (Japanese Version ) (1981) Emmanuel Lewis was the little scamp that starred in Webster, opposite Alex Karras. Karras played for the Detroit Lions of the NFL. He (Karras, not Lewis) made four Pro Bowls and was a three-time first-team All-Pro player, but he also missed the 1963 season while serving a suspension for gambling. Many believe that suspension is what kept Karras (again, not the diminutive Lewis) from Canton while he was alive, though Green Bay Packers running back Paul Hornung, who also was suspended for gambling, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1986. Emmanuel Lewis was not. After his playing career, Karras spent time as a professional wrestler and later became a popular actor. In his biggest role, he played Mongo in the 1974 film "Blazing Saddles". He played in the playoffs once, losing to Dallas 5-0. Emmanuel Lewis, as of this entry, has not been nominated for the NFL HOF. For more information on Alex Karras, also known in wrestling circles as "Dick The Bruiser", consult your local library. Or just click this. Ella Fitzgerald - "Sanford and Son" Theme (Street Beater) (1972) Vik Venus, Alias: Your Main Moon Man - Everybody's On Strike (1969) This was the B-side of "Moonlight", a space-based cut-in novelty record (ala Dickie Goodman). "Vic Venus" was a pseudonym for Jack Spector, a famous DJ known for his stint at WCMA, the New York City radio station that attached itself to the arrival of The Beatles in America. In fact, WCMA was the first station in the US to play "I Want To Hold Your Hand". Spector hosted the first American performance of the Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1964. "Moonlight" made it into the Billboard Top 40, barely. The record used cut-ins of Buddah Records songs exclusively. James Brown – Fight Against Drug Abuse (1971) Jeannie Piersol - Gladys (1968) Produced by Darby Slick. Watch this video! Darby was Grace Slick's brother-in-law. His song "Somebody to Love" is still heard around the world. Julie Ege - Love (1971) Lou Christie - Love In A Limousine (1997) Pluto - Dat (1976) Went to #6 in the UK. Daughters of Eve - Social Tragedy (1968) This all-female band out of Chicago opened for groups such as The Buckinghams ("Kind of a Drag" ) and was featured as a backing band during local TV programming with Janis Ian to support the release of her song "Society's Child". They released 4 singles. This was their last, a more psychedelic affair than the others. Then they broke up because of...men. Lou Christie - The One and Only Original Sunshine Kid (1975) Written by the same fellow that wrote: "I Think I Love You". On Elektra Records!? The music business was funny back then. These next two tracks are from "The Spectrum of Music Level 6" released in 1974 to a world of restless children being forced to sing songs they did not like did not KNOW, and would forget as soon as class was over. BUT SOME OF US REMEMBERED. Here is a video of the unboxing. Fender Bender (1974) The Cowboy (1974) This collection (should you want me to make MP3s) contains "Sakura", "Johnny Has Gone For a Soldier", and a tight little medley from "The H.M.S. Pinafore". Tartan Horde - Bay City Rollers We Love You (1975) More Contractual Obligation chicanery. The Beach Boys - My Solution (1970) "My Solution" was written by Brian Wilson and recorded on October 31, 1970, shortly before the sessions for the group's album Surf's Up. In a 1976 interview, Brian said: "We have a song called 'My Solution' which is a very odd song that has chromatic – strange chords, not regular triad chords. The notes are bunched up. It tells the story about how a guy found an old damsel outside his castle and decided to make her part of an experiment. ... It's about a guy who found his solution. It's a very odd, Boris Karloff eerie type of thing, so it's one of our more far-out, left-field things that we've done." 4 years before this, he composed "God Only Knows". I know I mentioned that a lot, but goddamn, drugs will wreck you. STAY AWAY FROM DRUGS! The Groop - A Famous Myth (1969) Midnight Cowboy is one of my favorite soundtracks. I really love this song, especially. The Groop was a harmony-based psychedelic pop and soul vocal quartet, active at the end of the 1960s and releasing one self-titled album. Not to be confused with the other Groop, based in Australia around that time. I know you were going to. Don't. The Hello People - Jelly Jam (1969) Gotta collect all the records by The Hello People. Vos Voisins- Ya just de t'ça (1971) Good Montreal prog. Wallace Collection - My Way Of Loving You (1970) XTC - You're The Wish You Are I Had (Live) (1984) The best group of the '80s and '90s. Lyrics alone, they would be Top 3. Gino Vannelli - People Gotta Move (1974) Sometimes I sneak in top 40 songs because I love them.

Did you grow up watching Nickelodeon? We sure did! Sure, Mancrush was watching Friday the 13th when he was like five, but he still watched himself some Nickelodeon. So the moment the boys saw mention of a Nickelodeon documentary, they jumped at the chance to get "The Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story" directors' Adam Sweeney and Scott Barber on the show. First off, if you're a fan of Nick, you really should find yourself a copy of this documentary, it's packed with some green, slimy nostalgia! Second, Scott and Adam were amazing judges. To make sure this episode fit the bill, these guys had to decide which decade was "The Best for Kids". Our boy, Joe Findlay from the Great White North is back, and he came with the best options kids had from 1997. Playing the middle of the Oreo, Mancrush came correct with a snapshot of a kid's existence in 1988. Rounding it all out, Marc James rides in the rear of the wood-paneled station wagon with no seatbelt on as he delivers with 1977! As judges, Adam and Scott are hard to beat. You can feel their passion for each and every selection that was handed to them. This one is tight, but they managed to make that final call! In this episode, you might hear something about: getting slimed and loving it, pandering to wives, hooking up with your girlfriend's friends cause she demanded it, Hakuna Matata with a side of sax and violence, everything needs more Teek, bad movie reviews, cartoon fetishes, a classic is born, the origins of a real piece of trash, analytical football for kids, the king of cellulite, the grandpappy of livingroom gaming, magic sticks, critiquing Mom against Donna Reed, tie-breakers, some behind the scenes stories from The Orange Years, and who sported an Emmanuel Lewis fanny pack? Do you agree with Scott and Adam's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard!

Businesses and schools have closed, many are struggling to make ends meet and I appreciate you taking the time to listen to my podcast. We will eventually return to a sense of normalcy. In the meantime, I hope these conversations serve to connect us and uplift us. My guest today is Maria Lugo. Maria is an executive life coach, home school educator, justice consultant and host of a local public access television show. Don't get confused, yes we know we did a cartoon called "A Christmas Dream" last year in the countdown, but it's not the same. On hell no! Brief Overview - [http://www.american-historama.org/1945-1989-cold-war-era/strategic-defense-initiative.htm] 57. The Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), also known as Star Wars because it promoted ideas such as lasers and computer-guided projectiles, was the US response to possible nuclear attacks and it was introduced on March 23, 1983 during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. 58. The objective of the SDI program was to develop an advanced anti-ballistic missile system to enable the United States to prevent missile attacks from the USSR and other countries during the Cold War. 59. The idea was to set up many space satellites that would detect the launch, and then shoot down, any enemy missiles. 60. The Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) was cancelled in 1993 and replaced with the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) renamed the Missile Defense Agency in 2002. 61. 10 SDI Highlights 62. #1: Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) was the military strategy adopted during the Cold War Arms Race. It assumed that both the USSR and the US would refrain from launching nuclear weapons, knowing that the other country would retaliate and cause the complete nuclear annihilation of both the attacker and the defender. 63. #2: The Strategic "Defense" Initiative program focused on strategic defense and replaced the "Offensive" doctrine of mutual assured destruction (MAD). 64. #3: SDI became the subject of intense political controversy. A Washington Post article published the day after the speech, quoted Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy describing the proposal as "reckless Star Wars schemes." 65. #4: Critics in the media used that term frequently (despite Reagan's request that they use the program's official name), implying it was an impractical science fiction. This did much damage the program's credibility. 66. #5: Many critics believed that it would extend the arms race into space and cause the USSR to expand its own offensive nuclear weapons. 67. #6: SDI began extremely expensive research projects costing billions of dollars every year. The research projects included space-based laser weapons, spy satellites and space-based interceptors. 68. #7: In response to the US research projects, the Soviets began work on developing their own version of Strategic Defense Initiative. 69. #8: The efforts by the Soviet Union to match the expenditure of the U.S. in the Cold War Arms Race contributed greatly to nation's economic problems. 70. #9: Soviet premier Mikhail Gorbachev realized that the USSR could not afford the Cold War Arms Race or match the massive expenditure involved in the US Strategic Defense Initiative. In 1991, Mikhail Gorbachev fell from power and the Soviet Union was dissolved. 71. #10: The SDI had itself become an economic weapon and was instrumental in causing the downfall of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War. 72. Audio Clip: 73. Question: Do you think the threat of Nuclear War has grown or shrunk during your lifetime? 74. Music Scene 75. Run (Joseph Simmons) @ 19 yrs old / DMC (Darryl McDaniels) @ 19 yrs old / Jam Master Jay (Jason Mizell) @ 18 yrs old 106. The trio grew up in Hollis, Queens, a moderately stable African American community in New York. / DMC was born to a teenage mother and was adopted three months later. 107. Run and DMC were childhood friends 108. 1978: JMJ discovers the turntable at age 13. By age 14 he is spinning for live crowds at block parties. 109. 1980: The trio met via the emerging hip-hop scene at Hollis' "Two-Fifths Park". Simmons and McDaniels rapped in front of Mizell at the park, and the three became friends. 110. 1981: Fortunately for them, Run’s older brother, Russell Simmons, had his foot in the music business, as the manager for rappers Kurtis Blow and Whodini. Russell made Run Kurtis Blow's DJ and helped him record the single “Street Kid,” but it went nowhere. Later that year, the friends decide to become a crew. 111. 1982: Russell agreed to help the new group record a single and get a record deal, but on one condition –McDaniels change his stage name, from “Easy D” to “D.M.C.” 112. 1983: Run DMC hit the scene with their debut 12-inch single for “It’s Like That,” with “Sucker MCs” as the B-side. The out-of-the-box success of these two songs was the beginning of a new era for hip-hop. 113. Run-D.M.C. exploded out of Hollis, changing popular culture in general. Not only was their sound different, so was their dress. Earlier rap stars fashioned their looks after the spangled superhero costumes of 1970s funk acts like Parliament-Funkadelic and Rick James, Run-DMC appeared in their signature bowler hats, black leather jackets, unlaced Adidas athletic shoes, and black denim pants, establishing the more casual look of hip urban youth. 114. They were the first rappers to have a gold album - Run-D.M.C. (1984). The first rap act to appear on MTV, becoming popular with the cable channel’s largely white audience with their fusion of hip-hop and guitar solos on hits such as “Rock Box” (1984) and a 1986 remake of Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way”. 115. Although the group never officially disbanded, their recording and performing activities decreased significantly in the 1990s and in 2002 Jam Master Jay was fatally shot at a recording studio in Jamaica, Queens. 116. Run-DMC was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009 and received a Grammy Award for lifetime achievement in 2016. 117. Meanwhile, up the coast near Boston… In 1978, Robert Barisford Brown (@ 9 yrs old), Michael Lamont Bivins (@ 10 yrs old), and Ricardo "Ricky" Bell (@ 11 yrs old) started a vocal group. 118. Ricardo’s friend Ralph Edward Tresvant (@10 yrs old), and the nephew of the group’s manager and choreographer, Ronald Boyd DeVoe Jr. (@11 yrs old) soon joined. 119. Key Artists #2: New Edition 120. For a complete history go watch "The New Edition Story" on BET 121. But the short story is this...They all lived in the Orchard Park Projects in Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, and where heavily influenced by Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5. 122. They scored its big break in 1981, when they finished 2nd in a local talent show. They impressed the singer/producer Maurice Starr, and he brought the group to his studio the following day and started recording their debut album, Candy Girl. 123. Audio Clip 124. Question: These two groups are primarily responsible for hip-hop crossing over to rock and R&B, and therefore a wider and whiter audience. Has that been a good thing? 125. Movie Scene 126. Bill Cosby: Himself 127. After I Spy and before The Cosby Show, Bill Cosby left his own inimitable mark on the arena of stand-up comedy in this live concert showcasing his down-to-earth observations on the rigors and joys of family life. Cosby, using only a microphone and a chair, discusses his take on raising kids and the illogical nature of children and the futility of trying to argue with a child that in the end may be smarter than you. Notable highlights include Cosby's ruminations on the meaning of the all-purpose phrase "I don't know" to kids, and Cosby describing the effect raising children has on his wife Camille's mental state and the pitch of her voice. Containing the basis for the humor of his long-running situation comedy, Bill Cosby: Himself is a polished, occasionally insightful, and frequently hilarious night of comedy from one of the longtime masters of the form. --Robert Lane: https://www.quotes.net/movies/bill_cosby%3A_himself_1089 128. Born poor, the son of a sailor and a maid, he excelled at school, in both sport and academic study, becoming class president and winning a university scholarship while doing part-time jobs to help support his family. Giving all that up, he instantly became successful as a comedian, going on to be the first African American to star in a network TV series (I Spy), as well as the first to win an acting Emmy (three of them, plus one for variety shows and nine Grammies). By the time this performance was recorded, he had completed a doctorate in education, and was about to launch The Cosby Show, the decade's biggest sitcom, which would make him the best-paid entertainer in the world for two years running (1986 and 1987). He also sings and can play jazz guitar and drums. At 75, he's still extremely funny. - https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2012/jul/19/comedy-gold-bill-cosby-himself 129. Television Scene 130. Delirious (1983) is an American stand-up comedy television special directed by Bruce Gowers, written by and starring Eddie Murphy. The comedy became a TV Special for HBO released August 30, 1983.Eddie Murphy in stand-up before all the prosthetic flesh happened. For a generation of naughty schoolboys, this was the video to have; no parent-free gathering or playground conversation was complete without repeating some of Eddie’s profanity-strewn, impression-laden genius. The homophobic opening gambit and an alarmingly ignorant bit on AIDS are jaw-dropping, but there’s no denying Murphy’s supreme on-stage talent — when he’s on more timeless material (ice cream, cookouts, shoe-throwing mothers), few in the world were ever as funny as this. It’s easy to forget how funny Murphy's stand-up really was. Despite being a little dated in subject, this still slays. - https://www.empireonline.com/movies/eddie-murphy-delirious/review/ 131. “The most homophobic standup routine I’ve ever seen,” says another. “Can’t believe all the messed-up things he says about AIDS, including saying how you’ll catch AIDS from your girlfriend if she kisses her gay friend. 80s hateful prejudice in full force.” 132. Murphy apologized for the routine back in 1996, saying, “I deeply regret any pain all this has caused. Just like the rest of the world, I am more educated about AIDS in 1996 than I was in 1981. ”I know how serious an issue AIDS is the world over. I know that AIDS isn’t funny. It’s 1996 and I’m a lot smarter about AIDS now. I am not homophobic, and I am not anti-gay. My wife and I have donated both time and money to AIDS research. I’ve had people close to me die from the disease as well. I don’t know a person who hasn’t been touched in some way by this disease. Everybody knows somebody who is sick. Black people have been hit harder by this disease than any other group of people on the planet.” - https://www.queerty.com/eddie-murphys-homophobic-comedy-special-delirious-now-streaming-netflix-20161229 133. Question: Does he get a pass? 134. The A-Team 135. Four Vietnam vets, framed for a crime they didn't commit, help the innocent while on the run from the military. It’s THE A-TEAM 136. Led by master of disguise, Lieutenant Colonel John “Hannibal” Smith played by the gruff but loveable George Peppard, this group of falsely convicted commandos now work as fugitive mercenaries. Dirk Benedict is the team’s master manipulator and con man, Templeton “Face” Peck. Dwight Schultz plays the certifiable master aviator, Captain H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdock. And you can’t spell The A-Team without Mr. T as master mechanic, Mohawked muscle man, and van driver (with a serious fear of flying), Bosco “B.A.” (“Bad Attitude”) Baracus. But enough jibba jabba. Tune in and watch the plan come together, fool! 137. The show ran for five seasons, with several minor cast changes along the way; the show's eventual decline was attributed to the constantly recycled and extremely formulaic plot. Attempts to win viewers back, by both changing the overall premise and having the A-Team overseen by a former antagonist, worked for only a short while. 138. Logic and credibility were usually ignored for the series' trademark over-the-top explosions, but the show never took itself particularly seriously, anyway: most of Hannibal's disguises were paper-thin, the villains were usually mostly-inept and somewhat one-dimensional, and the weapons that the Team cobbled together from miscellaneous parts were invariably more effective than the machine guns that the episode's villains used. 139. A big-screen version was released in June 2010, with Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and Quinton Jackson as the team. The trailer can be seen on YouTube. Tropes go to the respective page. 140. Question: Does anybody care? 141. Webster 142. The post-retirement season is suddenly disrupted for football player George Papadapolis and his wife Katherine when Webster, the orphaned son of a former teammate, moves in. Laughter, and life lessons, in every episode. Webster was ABC's answer to the long-running NBC sitcom Diff'rent Strokes ... especially with its showcase star and even down to the basic concept (a young African American child being adopted by a white family). 143. The showcase star on Webster was Emmanuel Lewis, who played the title character. At 4-foot-3, the 12-year-old Lewis easily passed for 6 or 7 (the character's age at the start of the series in 1983), which was Webster's age when he was adopted by 144. Clark's production company. After the third season ended, Emmanuel Lewis Entertainment Enterprises, Inc. was established and became a third production company. This was actually part of an agreement between Karras and Clark, Paramount, and ABC, in which Emmanuel Lewis would get production credit alongside them for ABC to stop making the story lines be "all Webster, all the time. “The series ran from 1983-1987 on ABC before spending its final two first-run years in syndication. By the time the final first-run episode aired in 1989, Webster was 12 years old and getting ready to enter junior high school; in real life, Lewis had just turned 18. 145. Question: Why didn’t we riot in the streets? 146. Final Vote: Favorite pop culture event/item for 1983?

it’s just like Mad Men but with Roanld Reagan instead of Don Draper! Because on this episode of This is the President, we delve into an entirely new collection of presidential recordings - the Ronald Reagan Dictaphone Library. For the kids out there, a dictaphone was a device that you’d use to record letters so your secretary would type them while you were drinking highballs with the newest steno pool employee on your lap. Except not in Reagan’s case. Maybe while Emmanuel Lewis was sitting in Nancy’s lap. But we digress…. On the morning of March 3, 1981, a newly inagurated Ronald Reagan was recording a number of letters to supporters and well-wishers. One of these well wishers was Buddy Ebsen, better known as Jed Clampett from The Beverly Hillbillies - and a long time Republican. But Buddy wasn’t just wishing his pal Ronald Reagan have a great presidency - no there was more on Jed Clampett’s agenda. You see, Mr. Ebsen had just produced his first big time play, “Turn to the Left.” And was inviting the President and Nancy to the opening in California. So, what starts out as a normal letter dictated by Roanld Reagan on March 3, 1981, soon takes a turn, as we discover that shortly after writing ths letter, Reagan tried to pull a few strings for his old friend Jed.

A Christmas Dream (tv special 1984) It was a golden age of prime time network television. A-Team, Webster, and dozens of new shows were bringing in the viewers. In the tradition of TV specials NBC made A Christmas Dream, a loose narrative upon which to hang celebrity appearances, ice skating, ventriloquism, music, magic, and when you’re lulled in- a healthy dose of dogma. The two featured stars, Emmanuel Lewis and Mr. T, were both on shows taking boasting huge ratings. Emmanuel Lewis plays latch-key kid and humbug “Johnny.” Mr. T plays an untitled character, credited as Santa, who strives to bring the joy and true meaning of Christmas to Johnny.
