This week's pick is the 1972 early slasher film Silent Night Bloody Night. IMDB sums it up beautifully: "A man inherits a mansion which once was a mental home. He visits the place and begins to investigate some crimes that happened in old times, scaring the people living in the region." Special guest Mike Neel joins us and talks about the expanded re-release of his film Infinite Santa 8000.
Behind Door 09 we visit the little seen early slasher mystery Silent Night Bloody Night from 1971, and learn The Legend of Hell House (1973)
Mini bonus-ep time! We chat Patrick O'Neal & Mary Woronov in this early 70s low-budget, late night holiday chiller. Some stuff works for us and some doesn't. It is pretty neat to see some similarities between this flick & other slashers that came after it! Hope you enjoy!

Journey with us, your hosts Chad Campbell and Mike Carron, as we turn our discerning gaze upon the murky depths of horror cinema. Ever questioned the low rating of the 1972 horror film, "Silent Night, Bloody Night" on Rotten Tomatoes? We certainly did and this episode is our deep dive into the disarray that is its plot, the overused trope of mental asylums, and its lack of character depth. In our cinematic exploration, we also dissect, with a scalpel-like precision, the convoluted fear scenes and lazy camera work. We pick at the bones of the nonsensical asylum escape scene, the sudden attachment of the protagonist to a man she barely knows, and the dubious mourning (or lack thereof) for a dearly departed father. Our critique doesn't stop there. We question the first five minutes of the film, highlighting the bewildering lack of dialogue and just as confusing character traits. For our grand finale, we delve into the trivia of "Silent Night, Bloody Night," holding a magnifying glass up to elements such as the film's budget, the use of horror tropes, and its cult following. We lift the veil on intriguing nuggets like the use of chocolate syrup as a stand-in for blood and posthumous dubbing of a deceased actor's lines. We pull no punches in our honest appraisal of this film's watchability (or lack thereof). So, horror movie enthusiasts, if you're brave enough, join us in this spine-chilling exploration of classic fear-filled flicks. Greetings, and welcome back to Horror Business. We have one awesome Christmas episode in store… The post HORROR BUSINESS Episode 145: SILENT NIGHT, BLOODY NIGHT & THE DAY OF THE BEAST appeared first on Cinepunx.
Merry Christmas, and happy holidays to everyone. Today on the podcast, the 70s horror curiosity, Silent Night, Bloody Night. The mansion. The madness. The Maniac. No Escape. A lawyer and his paramour are tending to an estate, converting a sprawling mansion into equity. The scion of the Butler family, Jeffrey, meanwhile, leaves California for New England to help settle the family matter as well. He soon finds that his grandfather's home, is cursed. And that the townsfolk are less than welcoming, claiming bad mojo about the dwelling that's persisted for decades. Genre heads will enjoy this, as we've got legendary John Carradine as a newspaper magnate and Mary Woronov as the mayor's daughter.
Season's Greetings wonderful listeners! It is the time of year again that The FM3 go dumpster diving into Santa's dirty old Sack for another Xmas horror movie! This time around the crew decided on the proto-slasher to Black Christmas: "Silent Night, Bloody Night" from 1972! The Forever Midnight crew had hoped for a holiday hootenanny of a film with stockings filled with Christmas candy but instead got a weird wild tale about escaped mental patients and the wacky town they call home. We hope you enjoy this episode and wish you all a happy holiday and a fantastic new year!
Seasons Bleedings, Dumpster Dwellers! I'ts Christmas time in the video dungeon once again for our annual Trashing Through the Snow festivities. Our last episode of the season! We are off to the races! Special guest, Steve joins us this episode to discuss 1972's Silent Night Bloody Night. Possibly the worst movie we've done on the show. We discuss a bit of the film, then go off on our picks for 2021 and so much more!
On this special episode of the pod, the guys talk about TNA's "Silent Night, Bloody Night" match. Yes. It's as bonkers as it sounds.
Episode 4 Christmas Horror Shenanigans! Of course, we have to discuss Christmas themed Horror Movies, duh! We start out this episode with some horror movie news, discuss horror in the early 2000's, and deep dive into many obscure films as we usually do! And then it's time to dissect the Silent Night Deadly Night series! We also talk about Silent Night Bloody Night, To All a Goodnight, and Santa Clause Conquers the Martians. We briefly review the original 1974 Black Christmas Bob Clark flick and touch on Christmas Evil. Lastly, we complain about dark murky lighting in many horror films in the 80's and want to see an investigation initiation into this. Roxy nominates Dustin to do it. We talk about so many films, we can't even list them all! You will be completely prepared for your horrifying holiday film after this episode of Schlock Talk Radio!
Carter Burkes revenge, creepy old house vs Best Western, video game licensing, really bad movies that we've grown to love and Silent Night Bloody Night!
Ho ho ho, 'mos! Kevin & Chris kick off Homo for the Holidays Month (redux) with the formative proto-slasher, Silent Night, Bloody Night (1972). The 'mos talk a creepy mansion with a troubled history, the iconic Mary Woronov, questionable plotting choices, disturbing phone calls + POV sequences (paging Black Christmas), unique mental-health representation, a late-game exposition dump + an icky reveal, and more. Bonus topics include unfiltered thoughts on House of Gucci, Maid, Venom 2, and Tick, Tick... Boom. RIP to the legendary Stephen Sondheim (1920-2021).
