Let's all admit that sometimes, we make life more complicated than it has to be. We complain about things like somebody cut me off in traffic or they messed up my latte at Starbucks. Sometimes, it takes a beautiful nonprofit, like the one I'm about to feature, to put everything into perspective. Joining me in the studio are Ronne Rock and Kathy Fielder with Orphan Outreach.
This week, I speak with Ronne Rock, who weaves themes of transformative hope into everything she shares on page and stage. She travels globally to cultivate stories of transformation with Orphan Outreach. Ronne is an author and speaker—offering road-tested wisdom about grace-filled leadership and discovering your God-crafted design and purpose. And as a teacher and mentor, Ronne offers writers and other creatives insight on how to safeguard your soul in a world that delights in demanding it from you. Her poignant stories are included in a number of anthologies, and she is the author of four books, including One Woman Can Change the World: Reclaiming Your God-Designed Influence and Impact Right Where You Are. An Oklahoma gal by birth, Ronne now lives in the Texas Hill Country with her family. We look at her childhood up to the present to see the beautiful thread of Jesus in her life. Your Hope-Filled Perspective with Dr. Michelle Bengtson podcast
Episode Summary: My guest, Ronne Rock, and I talk about knowing what God wants us to do with our life; how we know our purpose. We have a God-designed influence, impact, purpose, and story, and yet so often we don't see it for what it is. We compare ourselves to others and think we are supposed to be like them. But the truth is, God created each of us with a unique set of gifts, talents and personalities. Quotables from the episode: One of the things I learned as a child was that I had to do it all myself and I couldn't count on anyone else. True leadership requires humility, a servant attitude, and valuing others. When God said that He blessed man and woman, blessing means ‘happy am I.' God delights in you! Sometimes we may feel we are lacking in ability, but we all have time and can offer the gift of our presence. When you're seeking to know God's purpose for your life, start by filling the space you've been given. God takes everything in our lives and makes it purposeful. When you're seeking to know God's purpose for your life, start by asking God, “How do you see me today?” Scripture References: Genesis 1:26-31 Now let Us conceive a new creation—humanity—made in Our image, fashioned according to Our likeness. And let Us grant them authority over all the earth—the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, the domesticated animals and the small creeping creatures on the earth. So God did just that. He created humanity in His image, created them male and female. Then God blessed them and gave them this directive: “Be fruitful and multiply. Populate the earth. I make you trustees of My estate, so care for My creation and rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that roams across the earth.” God (to humanity): Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant that grows on the earth and every fruit-bearing tree. They will be your food and nourishment. As for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and every small creeping creature—everything that breathes the breath of life—I have given them every green plant for food. And it happened just as God said. Then God surveyed everything He had made, savoring its beauty and appreciating its goodness. Evening gave way to morning. That was day six. Ephesians 2:10 For we are the product of His hand, heaven's poetry etched on lives, created in the Anointed, Jesus, to accomplish the good works God arranged long ago. The greatest tool in that journey for me was the Bible itself. You've probably noticed that here on the show we love the Bible, and we take it seriously - but not always literally, and that means that meaning can get a little complicated. But you don't have to let that overwhelm you. I've put together the Big Picture Toolkit to help you understand how all of Scripture fits together in one incredible story, learn some new questions to ask to get at meaning without getting overwhelmed, and see new connections between Old and New Testaments with a special Bible Reading Plan. If you're ready to get back to basics of your faith, the Bible is a great place to start, and the Big Picture Bible Toolkit can help. Grab yours today free at kateboyd.co/bible.

My guest today, Ronne Rock, shares about her travels all over the world and of women who have been uncompromisingly faithful in serving God, about her thoughts on what the Proverbs 31 woman really means (and why it can be such a relief to us), as well as her thoughts on purpose. Ronne is a mighty kingdom builder, but she gives us the hope that we can all start where we are at with our unique make-up that God has given us. Ronne answers questions like... Can you explain who you think the Proverbs 31 woman really was and why? What would you tell us about the pressure of purpose? Practically, what do we need to consider about our own experiences to discover where we are to lead and serve (aside from the Holy Spirit's direct calling)? HOW can we start where we are? Part 2 of Dottie's interview with author Ronne Rock in finding your purpose and what you were designed to do!
Today I have the pleasure of interviewing Ronne Rock. She is a professional writer and author of One Woman Can Change The World. She keeps herself busy traveling globally for her Orphan Outreach while using her creative talents. (This episode was originally titled, Does God Require Perfection, and we do discuss that, but the bulk of the contents is more about Ronne's book, One Woman Can Change The World.) We discuss so many important topics, such as: -Does God require perfection? -What does it look like to let go of all the "doing" and instead be present? -Following the nudge of the Holy Spirit -Harmonizing with other women -And my favorite quote from her book, “I'm an impatient soul who wants to see results before I've put in the work. I'm a needy soul who likes to be affirmed. I'm a curious soul who comes dangerously close to running off cliffs as I chase illusions.” I felt compelled to share with my listeners one of my personal definitions of perfectionism. Perfectionism is a fear-based habit in which we strive for the unattainable goal of perfection in an effort to minimize pain, shame, and blame. Some of the outcomes of practicing perfectionism are doubt, insecurity, dissatisfaction with one's achievements, being stuck in fear of failure, and fear of the unknown.
