Federal Colony Station #1 sits at the heart of New Ronne. It's where Avis and Devon Merlot work, alongside their friendly server maintenance droid, “Neil”, who's always happy to help. This Colony, in the long thawed Antarctic, is the only place all three of them have ever called home. It's where Avis and Devon care for their son and where Neil cares for his servers, and it's full of families living their lives as it continues to grow every day. Times are good in New Ronne, on a surface level, but things are never as good as they seem. When a strange traveler appears in New Ronne, bringing bad omens and wielding unnatural powers, something stirs beneath the surface. The Stranger shows Avis, Devon, and Neil that they're all in for a bad time.Music and Sound Effects:“Intro” by Abigail McDonald“Eyes That Follow” by Abigail McDonald“Noisy Server Computer” by the_toilet_guy at (Freesound.org)“First Love” by Mark Wilson X at Freemusicarchive.com (CC BY 4.0)“Bonus: All in a Garden Green (Orchestral Version)” by Axletree at Freemusicarchive.com (CC BY 4.0)“Mysterious Ambiance Music” by TheoJT at (Freesound.org)“Gloomy Reverie” by Universfield at (Freesound.org)“Winterstorm II: A Cinematic And Ambient Soundscape” by kjartan_abel at (Freesound.org)“End Credits” by Paweł Feszczuk at Freemusicarchive.com (CC BY 4.0)“Instrumental Mystic Song For Paranormal Videos” by Universfield at (Freesound.org)

Being a caregiver to someone is truly a special calling and blessing. But those demands can often leave someone feeling exhausted, isolated, stressed, or unappreciated. Jess and her husband were thrown when they received the medical news that her son Lucas would be born with significant disabilities requiring lifelong care. But not long after that, Jess had to also take care of her 30-year-old husband who was dying of terminal brain cancer. Hear her remarkable story and find out why she decided to turn her attention to other caregivers, just like her, who serve each day with grit and grace.

Jessica Ronne has endured more heartache than most can even fathom. She found out when she was pregnant with her second son that he'd had a stroke in utero and would be profoundly disabled if she carried him to term. She and her husband made the decision to carry him to full term and let God handle the details. Lucas does have those disabilities, but Jess and her husband never wished they'd made a different choice. Then, several years and two more children later, Jess's husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor and passed away at the age of 33, leaving her to take care of their four small children. But God didn't leave her in her grief. She met a wonderful man, a widower with three children and they married, blended their families and even added one more to the mix. Even though Jess has a hard story, she's used her experience to create The Lucas Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to serving parent caregivers with respite, recognition and resources. She is also the associate producer of the documentary Unseen and the author of four books, including her most recent, Caregiving with Grit and Grace. Jessica's pain led her to create resources to help others, because she understands what it means to be in an unfamiliar world of grief and caregiving, not knowing how to navigate it all. Her relationship with Jesus is even stronger today than when she was a young mom because she learned to lean on Him, and even question Him, through it all. Even though her story is hard, she fought her way through it and made it to the other side to let you know whatever you're going through, God's got you. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 1:4 that “He comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” Here's Jess' story... Are you a caregiver for a parent or a family member? Do you know someone who is? It is an extremely tough job. Or maybe you find caregiving for your children to be difficult. If any of this fits you, our guest today has a story and a mission that will speak to your heart. Jess Rhonne is an amazing woman! Jess' inspiring journey began when she became a widow within ten years of marriage, after her husband passed away of a brain tumor in 2010. Left to raise their four children, including one with profound disabilities needing lifelong care, she joined the other 16.3 million individuals serving as caretakers to children with special needs. Jess' life took a surprising turn when she was introduced to a young widower and father of three. In 2011, they blended their families with eight children (Jess and Ryan had a child together) Drawing from her own experiences, Jess can provide advice for caregivers on the importance of being present with their loved ones, embracing your challenges as personal growth, and finding strength in faith, the support of loved ones, and sharing with other caregivers. Exhaustion from constant care-giving can affect both the caregiver and the recipient. Warning signs may include fatigue, irritability, feelings of hopelessness, and physical health issues. Caregivers should prioritize help through support groups, counseling, or taking breaks for self-care. Jessica and her husband Ryan live in Michigan with their eight children. She is also a speaker, and podcast host of Coffee with Caregivers. Her beautiful story and family have been featured on The Today Show, Daily Mail, and Huffington Post. In this episode, Jessica opens up about: • How God transformed her understanding of His role as a loving Father during her most difficult seasons. • The importance of self-care for caregivers and trusting God in seasons of exhaustion and burnout. • Why caregivers need recognition, respite, and tangible support—and how her nonprofit seeks to meet those needs. • Stories of caregiving challenges and the importance of community support, even in long-term situations where help often fades over time. • The inspiration behind her devotional and how it became a lifeline during her hardest moments. Jessica also encourages us to surrender our plans to God and trust that He is working for our good, even when we don't understand His timing or will. Her poignant stories are included in a number of anthologies, and she is the author of four books, including One Woman Can Change the World: Reclaiming Your God-Designed Influence and Impact Right Where You Are. An Oklahoma gal by birth, Ronne now lives in the Texas Hill Country with her family. We look at her childhood up to the present to see the beautiful thread of Jesus in her life. You won't want to miss this captivating episode. One woman can change the world. No really, ask Ronne. She and I both believe wholeheartedly in this statement. During our conversation, we dove into what changing the world actually means… and how it's not that we should be doing everything. Especially as women leaders, we often find ourselves thinking, “Oh, I'll just do that real quick,” and we push our real gifts and talents to the bottom of the to-do list because we know it's easy for us to tackle those. The thing is, those “easy” tasks that we're really good at? That's our sweet spot, that's the magic. So how do we create a career and a life where we get to live and work in our magic zone? Ronne and I touched on how often success can scare us more than failure and the power behind the stories we're telling. Finding where you shine means getting clear on what you value, what others see in you, and how to craft stories that are both true and empowering. Here's what we talked about: 10:05 Just because you can doesn't mean you should 12:38 How to find where you shine 15:41 Tackling the fear of success 17:07 What you need to get clarity 21:28 The power of women's stories
