Send a textWhy does prayer exist? Is it just a religious practice, or does it have a deeper biblical foundation? In this message from our series The Genesis & Authority of Prayer, we return to Genesis 1:26–28 to rediscover God's original design for humanity. Psalm 8 reveals that mankind was “crowned with glory and honor,” yet Hebrews 2 reminds us that we do not yet see everything under human rule — “but we see Jesus.”Through Christ, the Second Adam, what was fractured in the fall is restored. Prayer is not begging a distant God; it is alignment with the reign of the risen King. It is how heaven's will is expressed on earth. If you are exploring the purpose of prayer, spiritual authority, the Kingdom of God, or what it means to live as an image-bearer of Christ, this teaching will ground you in Scripture and point you clearly to Jesus.Scripture References:Genesis 1:26–28Psalm 8Hebrews 2:5–9#ChristianPodcast #BibleTeaching #Prayer #KingdomOfGod #Genesis #Hebrews #SpiritualAuthority #ChristCentered

Pastor Andy brings us a message about prospering on purpose. God has fashioned each of us for a specific purpose, and that purpose begins with having a relationship with Him, being confident in Him, and living by faith and not by sight. When we accept that we have been designed for this journey from glory to glory, we understand that our prosperity is not an accident but an intentional part of God's plan, and we are purposed to please Him whether we are at home in the body or away from it. INTRODUCTION“The Signed Contract Before the House Exists”In 2006, we started looking for a house to buy in Summerville. We'd just accepted the position to come to Grace and were excited about what we might move into. But our excitement faded as we saw what we'd care for the money we were bringing from our last house sale. So, in the end, it made more sense for us to build a new house over buying an existing one. Imagine a young couple buying a home that hasn't been built yet. There is:• No framing• No roof• No walls• Just dirt and a blueprint or renderingBut they sign a contract. They put down earnest money. They commit financially. Why would they do that?Because they trust:• The builder's reputation• The written promise• The legal agreementThey are acting today on something they cannot yet see. That's Genesis 15.Abram:• Has no son• Has no visible nation• Has no fulfillment• Only a word from GodAnd verse 6 says he signed the contract in his heart.“Abram believed the LORD…”Faith is not pretending the house is already standing.Faith is signing your life to the One who promised to build it.That sets up:• Romans 4 — persuaded God will do what He promised• Galatians 3 — we inherit the same contract by faith• James 2 — if you signed it, you start living like itCONTEXTGenesis 15 comes at a pivotal moment in Abram's journey. In Genesis 12, God called Abram out of Ur with sweeping promises of land, offspring, and blessing — but Abram still has no child. In Genesis 13, he lets Lot choose the better land and must trust God again for the promise. In Genesis 14, Abram rescues Lot, defeats powerful kings, refuses the riches of Sodom, and is blessed by Melchizedek — demonstrating growing faith and allegiance to God alone. Yet despite spiritual victory, the central promise remains unfulfilled: Abram is aging, Sarai is barren, and the land is still occupied by other nations. Genesis 15 opens in that tension — between promise and fulfillment, between faith and visible reality — and God responds not with rebuke, but with covenant.OUTLINE (with references):1. (Show Chris' pic)"On a clear night, at most 5,000 individual stars can be seen with the naked eye, as well as objects like the fuzzy outline of the Andromeda Galaxy, with its estimated 100 billion stars, 2.5 million light years away!" -Lennox, p. 113"ACCORDING TO THE WRITERS of Hebrews and the Genesis record, the link between faith and righteousness was not a New Testament invention, nor was it even a patriarchal innovation. Instead, the dynamic connection between faith and righteousness is rooted in primeval history well before the flood. The lives of three famous pre-diluvians-Abel, Enoch, and Noah— make this very clear.Of Abel we read, "By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks" (Hebrews 11:4). Faith-righteousness was exemplified in earth's first family by the second son of Adam and Eve.Of Enoch Genesis says, "Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him" (5:24). The metaphor "walked" indicates closest communion and intimacy—a righteous life. Enoch's godly walk grew out of his faith, as Hebrews makes so clear: "By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God" (11:5). According to verse 6, his God-pleasing faith believed that "God is" (literal translation of the Greek)-that the sovereign God of creation is God. He also believed that God "rewards those who seek him"-that God is positively equitable. As a result, Jude 14, 15 records that he became a preacher of righteousness, apparently for his entire life, for some three centuries! Enoch's life demonstrated a righteousness based on faith.Of Noah Genesis says, "Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God" (6:9). That Noah "walked with God" identifies him with the godly character of Enoch. But even more significant, the statement that "Noah was a righteous man" is the first occurrence of the word righteous tsadiq) in the Bible. Noah's righteousness was not derived from his being perfect or any antecedent righteousness, but because he believed God, as the writer of Hebrews explains: "By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household" (11:7). The biblical doctrine of imputed righteousness (a righteousness from God) began here in primeval history before the flood!" -Hughes, pp. 221-2223. Faith Receives God's Promise (Genesis 15:6): Abraham believed, and it was credited as righteousness.Cross-References for Genesis 15:6 - Faith credited as righteousness. #core• Romans 4:3-5, 20-22 - Faith credited as righteousness. #standing #position• Galatians 3:6-9, 14 - Faith connects us to the promise. #family #mission #nations• James 2:21-23 - Faith is active, not passive. #living #practical #behaviorsBottom Line: When we trust God's promise, our journey is secure—He makes us right with Him and leads us step by step.So How Does God's Promise Shape Our Faith Journey? He brings security, confidence and peace because of who he is and what he does as our personally present provider and protector.More application:First, when you face fear—whether fear of the future or uncertainty—remind yourself that God is both your protector and provider. Concretely, when you face a major decision, begin by praying for His presence in it.Second, trust in God's promise of righteousness—when you feel inadequate or guilty, recall that your standing is secure by faith. For example, when you fail, don't retreat—confess and continue walking with Him.Third, active faith leads to action—like Abraham, step forward in obedience. If God's promise is sure, what step of obedience is He calling you to right now?Fourth, when considering your connection to God's larger promise (like in Galatians 3), remember that your faith ties you to a bigger family of faith. Practically, live out that community—extend grace and include others in your faith journey. Finally, as James 2 emphasizes, ask yourself: How is my faith visible in action this week? Identify one tangible act of service or obedience you'll do in response to trusting Him.CONCLUSIONBottom Line: When we trust God's promise, our journey is secure—He makes us right with Him and leads us step by step.“The Shield You Carry vs. The Shield You Trust”You could return to Genesis 15:1:“Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield…”In ancient warfare, a shield only works if you trust it enough to stand behind it.If a soldier:• Keeps peeking out• Keeps lowering the shield• Keeps running forward in panicThe shield cannot protect him.The issue is not whether the shield works. The issue is whether he will stand behind it.Abram's fear was real:• Eastern kings• No heir• An aging bodyGod doesn't say:“Be brave.”He says:“I am your shield.”And Abram stands behind that promise.Romans 4 says he was fully persuaded.Galatians 3 says we now stand in that same promise.James 2 says if you really trust the shield, you'll fight differently. So the question becomes:Are you standing behind the Shield?Or are you trying to carry your own? That lands the plane cleanly on:• God as protector• God as provider• Faith that rests• Faith that actsINVITATIONPeter puts it all in perspective in his first sermon:““Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”” ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭36‬-‭39‬ ‭NIV‬‬How do we respond? Answer 2 questions:Take out a card or piece of paper right now. Write down the answer to these questions: What is God saying to me right now? What am I going to do about it? Write this down on a sheet of paper. What I hear you saying, Lord, is ___________________.[my name] is going to believe/do __________________________________________________ as a result. Finally, share this with your Home or Mission group this week when you gather as a testimony about what God is doing in your life. You don't have to get too specific to give him praise.Lord's Supper, 1 Cor 11:23-26 is good passage. Also, say something like, "Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again." (past, present, and future)PrayNOTES"As Von Rad has said, "But above all, his righteousness is not the result of any accomplishments, whether of sacrifice or acts of obedience.Rather, it is stated programmatically that belief alone has brought Abraham into a proper relationship to God."This understanding is revolutionary! Circa 2000 B.C., Abram was declared righteous because of his belief. This declaration was in profound accord with the primeval fathers Abel, Enoch, and Noah. Furthermore, the principle has remained operative through both primeval and patriarchal history and the entire old-covenant era and is the foundation of the new covenant." -Hughes, p. 225"It has always been the same-in primeval times and patriarchal times. under the old covenant and the new covenant: Faith brings righteousnessand salvation. So it was for Abel: "By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain" (Hebrews 11:4). Abel was saved by faith, a faith that was not alone because it produced better works than Cain.So it was for Enoch: "By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death" (Hebrews 11:5). But Enoch's faith was such that he "walked with God" (Genesis 5:22) before he was no more. His faith was a real faith a faith that worked. So it was for Noah: "By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith" (Hebrews 11:7). Noah's profound faith produced a profound obedience. And his works were monumental: "He did all that God commanded him" (Genesis 6:22; cf. 7:5, 9, 16). His was a faith that worked. So it was with Abram: "By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going" (Hebrews 11:8). "By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac" (v. 17a.). Abraham was saved by faith alone-a faith that was not alone faith that works! We conclude this study with two penetrating questions. Have you rested your faith on God the Son, Jesus Christ, alone for your salvation? That is the first question. Are you trusting your works or Christ? Now if you answer, I am trusting Christ alone," then the second question is, has your faith produced works? Is your faith real enough that it has changed your life? These are salutary questions because you are saved by faith alone. But if it is true faith, it is faith that is not alone but a faith that works." -Hughes, p. 218"When someone is called 'a person of faith' it usually means that they are adherents of a particular religious tradition. It does not normally refer to the obvious yet frequently overlooked fact that everyone exercises faith every day in a myriad different ways - just think what would happen if people did not place their faith/trust in maps, traffic lights, electric appliances, or doctors, surgeons, pilots, lawyers and so on. In that important sense, everyone is a person of faith. Faith, as such, is not a religious concept." -Lennox, p. 117Below is:1. A refined opening (pastoral tone)2. A clean covenant pivot3. A governing Big Idea4. A simple sermon skeleton that keeps the focus where it belongs

In a world shaped by the attention economy, it can be hard to believe prayer really matters—but Genesis 18 shows a God who invites conversation and responds to intercession. In Mark 1:35–39, we see Jesus step into the eremos (silence and solitude), pray through interruptions, and come out with clear priorities for ministry. This message offers a realistic path forward: carve out 5–15 minutes of daily prayer, prepare for interruptions, and bring one decision to God before you act. // SCRIPTURE REFERENCES // Genesis 18:17;23-24;26, Mark 1.35-39, John 5:19 More info at the Bible Project: https://bibleproject.com/videos/mark/ // TAKE A NEXT STEP // Want to visit or discover more about Columbia View? This message invites us into a profound understanding of what it truly means to prioritize God in our daily lives. At its heart is a powerful truth: God has already closed every distance between Himself and us through Jesus Christ. He eliminated sin, conquered death, and sent the Holy Spirit to dwell with us constantly. The question now becomes—will we close the distance from our side? The upcoming 21-day journey of prayer and fasting isn't about elaborate rituals or extreme measures; it's about giving God our time, our attention, and our intentional presence. We're challenged to examine what separates us from deeper intimacy with God—whether it's harmful attitudes, destructive patterns, wrong priorities, or simply the noise of busy lives. Drawing from Genesis 4, we see that God doesn't just want any offering; He wants what He asks for. This is deeply personal—what is God asking you specifically to bring Him? The beauty of fasting is that it doesn't change God; it changes us. It quiets our flesh so our spirit can hear clearly. When we humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our ways—even the small attitudes and patterns that hinder us—God promises to hear from heaven. This season is about spiritual renewal, getting our edge back, and positioning ourselves for breakthrough, guidance, healing, and deeper relationship with the One who designed us for fellowship with Him. Episode Summary: While Norman Rockwall paints pictures of the holiday season as times of cheerful family togetherness, many feel unseen, especially during the holidays. Maybe you’re walking through this season feeling like no one really sees you. Maybe you’re single and longing for companionship, grieving the loss of a loved one, or feeling disconnected even in a crowd. The holidays can be a stark reminder of what we feel is missing in our lives. We see others celebrating with their families, opening presents, and engaging in joyful traditions, while we may feel forgotten or left behind. But even when the world seems to overlook you, God never does. Join me as we into a topic that touches so many hearts, especially during the holiday season: Finding Hope and Purpose When You Feel Invisible. Quotables from the episode: Loneliness isn’t just about being physically alone. It’s about feeling unseen, unheard, or unimportant. And during the holidays, this feeling can be magnified. We see families gathering, couples exchanging gifts, and social media flooded with highlight reels of happy moments—but what if you feel left out of that joy? There are many reasons why people feel overlooked during the holidays. Some have lost loved ones and feel their absence more acutely this time of year. Others may be estranged from family or struggling with difficult relationships. Some are facing financial hardship, making it hard to participate in the celebrations around them. Still, others feel overlooked in the workplace, in friendships, or even in ministry, wondering if what they do truly matters. Friend, just like He saw Hagar, He sees you too. No situation is too small or too big to escape His loving gaze. Maybe you feel invisible in your workplace, like your efforts go unnoticed. Maybe you feel unseen in your own family, where your needs seem to take a backseat to everyone else’s. Or maybe you’ve been crying out to God for an answer, and it feels like the heavens are silent. I want to assure you that God is not distant. He is near, and He sees every part of your heart. The enemy wants us to believe we are forgotten, but that’s a lie. The truth? God has always had His eye on you. God sees every detail of your life. He sees your silent tears and hears the prayers you can’t even put into words. He knows the longing in your heart and the dreams you’ve tucked away. You are not invisible to Him. I have to wonder if perhaps Jesus felt the same way when He asked His closest disciples to stay awake with Him in the garden, and yet they slept. Yet in that place He poured out His heart to His Heavenly Father. Throughout Scripture, we see God’s attentive love. Jesus noticed the outcasts—the woman at the well, the lepers, the woman with the issue of blood, the blind man begging on the roadside. He saw the ones society ignored, and He still does today. When you feel unseen, remember this: Jesus stops for the one. He stops for you. Even Jesus experienced feeling forsaken when He cried out on the cross, “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?”(Matthew 27:46). But God had not abandoned Him, just as He will never abandon you. Even in our darkest moments, God is working behind the scenes. He is near, even when we don’t feel it. Anchor Yourself in God’s Word – Fill your mind with Scriptures that remind you of God’s deep love for you. Shift Your Focus – When we focus on what we lack, we feel emptier. But when we focus on God’s presence and His promises, our hearts find peace. Start by playing uplifting praise and worship music, then consider starting a gratitude journal, writing down ways God has shown up in your life, comforted you, or helped you feel seen. Reach Out – Sometimes, we isolate ourselves when we feel unseen. I encourage you to take a step—send a text, call a friend, or join a community where you can encourage others too. Spend Time in His Presence – God is enough. Sit with Him. Talk to Him. Let Him fill the spaces where you feel unseen. One of the beautiful ways we can reflect God’s love is by helping others feel seen. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 reminds us that God comforts us so we can comfort others. When we encourage others, God blesses us as well. Notice the unnoticed – Look for those who may feel left out and extend kindness to them. Speak life – A simple encouragement can make someone’s day. Be present – Sometimes, the greatest gift is simply being there for someone. God sees us, and He invites us to see others the way He does. My friend, if you feel invisible today, remember this: You are fully known and fully loved by the God who created the universe. God is the God who sees you, and He loves you deeply. Hold onto hope. Scripture References: Genesis 16:13 Hagar called God, El Roi, “The God Who Sees Me.” Psalm 139:1-3 “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.” Matthew 27:46 “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?” Isaiah 49:16 says, “See, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands.” Zephaniah 3:17 tells us, “The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Proverbs 11:25 “Those who refresh others will be refreshed.” Recommended Resources: Sacred Scars: Resting in God’s Promise That Your Past Is Not Wasted by Dr. Michelle Bengtson The Hem of His Garment: Reaching Out To God When Pain Overwhelms by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner AWSA 2024 Golden Scroll Christian Living Book of the Year and the 2024 Christian Literary Awards Reader’s Choice Award in the Christian Living and Non-Fiction categories YouVersion 5-Day Devotional Reaching Out To God When Pain Overwhelms Today is Going to be a Good Day: 90 Promises from God to Start Your Day Off Right by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, AWSA Member of the Year, winner of the AWSA 2023 Inspirational Gift Book of the Year Award, the 2024 Christian Literary Awards Reader’s Choice Award in the Devotional category, the 2023 Christian Literary Awards Reader’s Choice Award in four categories, and the Christian Literary Awards Henri Award for Devotionals YouVersion Devotional, Today is Going to be a Good Day version 1 YouVersion Devotional, Today is Going to be a Good Day version 2 Revive & Thrive Women’s Online Conference Revive & Thrive Summit 2 Trusting God through Cancer Summit 1 Trusting God through Cancer Summit 2 Breaking Anxiety’s Grip: How to Reclaim the Peace God Promises by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner of the AWSA 2020 Best Christian Living Book First Place, the first place winner for the Best Christian Living Book, the 2020 Carolina Christian Writer’s Conference Contest winner for nonfiction, and winner of the 2021 Christian Literary Award’s Reader’s Choice Award in all four categories for which it was nominated (Non-Fiction Victorious Living, Christian Living Day By Day, Inspirational Breaking Free and Testimonial Justified by Grace categories.) Pastor Andy teaches about waking up to the reality of God's presence in our lives through the story of Jacob. Jacob was someone who knew about God, grew up around the things of God, and valued God's promises, but didn't actually have a personal relationship with God until he had an encounter that opened his eyes to the truth that the Lord was in that place all along. When we wake up to God's presence, we gain a new perspective on our circumstances, understanding that God is working in every situation, we receive an anointing to build and create what God has called us to establish, and we develop a heart to give back to God recognizing that everything we have belongs to Him. Guest Speaker, Pastor John Davis brings us a message about navigating the pressure that comes with living in purpose. Being gifted does not exempt anyone from experiencing deep fatigue, especially when carrying roles and responsibilities that God never designed to be carried alone. The journey requires adaptability and the willingness to lay down approval addiction, control, and the need to perform, trusting that God's strength is made perfect in weakness and that His grace is sufficient to sustain through every season. In this sermon, Pastor Alex shared how we are called to walk in both the Word and the Spirit, just as God modeled from the very beginning. Jesus Himself, the Word made flesh, didn't begin His ministry until the Spirit came upon Him. The early church lived the same way, moving in power because the Word and the Spirit worked hand-in-hand. When the Spirit breathes on the Word, boldness rises, lives change, and transformation follows. The Word without the Spirit becomes dry, and the Spirit without the Word becomes disorderly—but together they produce holy fire. If we want real growth, real maturity, and real transformation, we need both. The Word renews our mind, the Spirit empowers our life, and together they make us more like Jesus. God changes Abram's name, promises descendants, nations, and kings, and seals it with a bloody sign—circumcision. This shows us that God's covenant is not casual, but costly, pointing forward to the greater covenant fulfilled in Christ, whose blood secures our eternal salvation. From Abraham's call to walk blamelessly, to David's courage against Goliath, to Moses' near-death encounter on the way to Egypt, the message is clear: the covenant is serious, it is sacred, and it is sealed in blood.

#723 - Initiators and Responders: The Power of Prayer and Dependence on God

Preaching and Teaching

Summary: We reflected on the biblical roles of men and women as initiators and responders in prayer, exploring how prayer cultivates dependence, humility, and strength in spiritual warfare. Through Genesis, Acts, and other scriptures, we saw how Adam's calling as an initiator and Eve's design as a responder reveal God's perfect order and purpose. The discussion deepened around patience, waiting on God's timing, and how prayer glorifies Him by shaping our hearts. Personal experiences were shared, illustrating how prayer invites God's presence into pain, trials, and transformation, reminding us that true strength is found in submission to His will.Themes:Men are initiators; women are responders — both reflecting God's divine design (Genesis 2–3; Acts 6)Prayer teaches dependence, humility, and spiritual strength (Daniel 10; Luke 18:1)Waiting on God flows from His nature—merciful, patient, and loving (Exodus 34:6; Isaiah 40:31)Love motivates; fear paralyzes. Perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18; 2 Timothy 1:7)Prayer connects believers to divine energy and aligns them with God's timingPatience is not passive—it's labor and trust under God's grace (1 Corinthians 13:4; Genesis 18:14)True spiritual growth requires consistent, humble prayer (Luke 18:1; James 1:5)Prayer is the believer's weapon in spiritual warfare and the key to peace (Ephesians 6:18)God's presence transforms suffering into intimacy and purpose (Matthew 11:28–30)Scripture References: Genesis 2–3; Daniel 10; Exodus 34:6; Isaiah 40:31; 1 Corinthians 13:4; Genesis 18:14; Luke 18:1; 1 John 4:18; 2 Timothy 1:7; James 1:5; Matthew 11:28–30; Acts 6; Ephesians 6:18Reflection Question: Where in my life is God inviting me to depend on Him more deeply through prayer instead of relying on my own strength?

Men's Fraternity is a Journey of Rediscovery Robert Lewis frames this session as the start of a meaningful journey for men to uncover their true identity, understand their design, and live with purpose. This is not just a Bible study—it's a bold initiative to challenge passivity and embrace courageous manhood. Three-Year Structure of Men's Fraternity: Year 1: The Quest for Authentic Manhood – Focused on core identity and rejecting passivity. Year 2: A Man at Work and at Home – Emphasizes responsibility in vocation and relationships. Year 3: The Great Adventure – Invites men to step into their destiny and lead courageously. Men are Often Disconnected Many men are drifting—successful on the outside but unclear on the inside. They lack spaces to be real and honest about their struggles, dreams, and fears. Men's Fraternity offers a safe, supportive environment to change that. Rediscovering the Spirit of Adventure Somewhere along life's path, many men lose their sense of adventure. Responsibilities pile up, passions fade, and life becomes maintenance rather than mission. This year's focus aims to reignite that inner fire and clarify life's direction. Masculinity Must Be Defined and Lived Intentionally Without a clear, compelling definition of manhood, men default to culture's confusion or retreat into passivity. Lewis emphasizes the need to establish personal mission, reflect on one's design, and step forward with conviction. Life is a Choice—Choose Adventure Men can either live managed by circumstances or step into life with intention. This means rethinking careers, risks, passions, and even how we approach aging. The goal: to finish life satisfied, with a sense of "mission accomplished."

Psalm 93 1 The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure. 2 Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity. 3 The seas have lifted up, Lord, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves. 4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea— the Lord on high is mighty. 5 Your statutes, Lord, stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days. Cancel culture seems to demand that we choose sides—cutting off, calling out, and canceling others with little room for redemption. But what does a Gospel response look like? How do we teach our daughters to stand firm in their faith without returning fire with fire?  In this Thursday episode, co-hosts Rachael Culpepper and Natalie Ambrose dig deep into how the divide created by cancel culture can be reconciled—not through compromise, but through Christ. Rooted in the ministry of reconciliation described in 2 Corinthians 5, this episode explores what it means to be a peacemaker in a polarized world and how to help your daughter hold truth and grace in tension.  From toddler playground scuffles to teenaged social dynamics, cancel culture is showing up in your daughter's life earlier than ever. But instead of teaching her to cancel back, this conversation invites you to cast a different vision—one that prioritizes empathy, identity in Christ, spiritual maturity, and prayer for those who oppose her.  You'll walk away with:  A Gospel-centered framework for responding to cancel culture  Real-life language to help your daughter approach conflict differently  3 practical jumping-off points to move her from canceling to reconciling  AHG resources like GRIT with Grace that equip girls to practice Biblical unity in their everyday relationships  As American Heritage Girls Founder & Executive Director Emeritus Patti Garibay reminds us in this week's Raising Godly Girls Minute, our differences are not a threat—they are an opportunity to celebrate the body of Christ in its fullness. Unity doesn't mean sameness; it means choosing love in the face of division.  Scripture References:  Genesis 6 – God grieves humanity's wickedness  Isaiah 5:20 – “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil...”  2 Corinthians 5:17–20 – Ministry of reconciliation  Romans 14:1–12 – Unity in the body despite differences  Matthew 5:43–44 – “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you”  Revelation 7:9 – A vision of heaven's diversity: every tribe, nation, and tongue  2 Timothy 1:7 – Spirit of power, love, and self-discipline  Our girls don't need to be cultural chameleons—they need to be Gospel lights. Teach her to lead with conviction, but love like Christ.  Explore more resources to raise girls rooted in Christ at raisinggodlygirls.com.    To find or start an AHG Troop in your area, visit americanheritagegirls.org.

At our Midweek Interactive Service, Pastor Colins Nwosu led a deeply engaging and insightful discussion titled “Male & Female.” Drawing from Genesis 1:26–28, he emphasised that both man and woman were created in God's image and blessed with purpose and dominion. The conversation explored God's original intent for the roles of male and female, highlighting how each was uniquely designed to complement the other. Referencing Genesis 2:15 and 2:18, Pastor Colins explained that man was placed in the garden to work, tend, guard, and keep the earth, while woman was created as a suitable, adaptable and complementary helper. He also drew on Ephesians 5:22–25 to show the beauty of mutual submission, love, and respect in relationships. He challenged both men and women to understand and embrace their God-given roles with wisdom, purpose, and grace. Scripture References: Genesis 1:26–28 (NKJV), Genesis 2:15 (NIV, AMPC), Genesis 2:18 (AMPC), Ephesians 5:22–25 (NKJV)

In this powerful message, we're reminded that hope is not just a feeling, but a legal right based on God's unbreakable covenant. The story of Abraham teaches us that even when circumstances seem impossible, we can choose to believe in hope against all odds. Just as Abraham waited patiently for the fulfillment of God's promise, we too are encouraged to hold onto hope, even when dreams seem delayed. The message beautifully parallels our faith journey to riding a zip line – we must hang on tightly, trusting that God is guiding us through life's ups and downs. This perspective shift challenges us to see delays not as denials, but as divine development periods where God is working behind the scenes. As we navigate life's challenges, we're urged to anchor our souls in God's faithfulness, finding strength in His Word rather than our fleeting emotions or circumstances. As culture emphasizes the spectacle, this prayer reminds us to honor the spiritual significance of marriage, whether in our own lives or in supporting others.

Episode Summary: In this episode, guest Tammy Kennington shares the deep wounds she experienced as a survivor of childhood sexual trauma—and the heartbreak of watching someone she loves endure the same pain. Through her journey, she shares how God met her in the midst of that suffering, redeemed even her most painful experiences, and gave her sacred scars as beauty for her ashes. Quotables from the episode: My story of wounding is two sides of the same coin, first as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and then seeing someone I dearly love experiencing the same sort of thing. I’ve really had to kneel at God’s feet, seek Him, and heal physically, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually. My wounds trapped me in grief, fear, and confusion; not so much my own trauma, but the vicarious trauma of the individual that I love so much. Fear held me captive. I thought I would not ever experience freedom again or ever experience any of the Lord’s peace because it just seemed so out of reach. Anywhere I turned, it felt like tentacles twisted around my marriage, my family, my personal life and it attempted to destroy all beauty. The painful wounds I experienced emotionally and relationally were also replicated physically. After I found out about the horrendous suffering my loved one had endured, I found out that I was suffering from fibromyalgia and scleroderma. It took years for those to be diagnosed but God has done an amazing work in my life through all of it. When we go through a painful event, even emotionally, relationally, or spiritually, our body will react to that pain and stress, and create physical health conditions that also often contribute to physical pain. I’m trying to give people permission to acknowledge the pain, but then to step forward to deal with it in a safe healing environment. Because when we don’t, our body will hold onto it, and we will experience physical symptoms at some point. Without healing, wounds rot, they fester, and they go deeper. I’m a testimony to God’s power. I no longer live with fear, with flashbacks, suicidality, or disassociation. And because the Lord healed me, of those burdens, I knew he could heal me of the autoimmune disorder I was dealing with, if he wanted to. It was a long seven-year process. But now I’m coming up on the one year anniversary of not having any fibromyalgia flareups, and I’m going back to full time work in the fall. God has restored me emotionally, spiritually, and physically as a testimony of his goodness. We know that there are times when God doesn’t heal this side of heaven. But those who know Christ will be healed ultimately in Heaven. Even if we are walking through a painful journey now and he doesn’t heal us here, we can count on him because we know he will give us the strength that we need. Scripture tells us that he will provide for all of our needs, and that his grace is abundant. He is a God of mercy, and he is able. If you are in that situation now where you are praying for physical, emotional, relational, or spiritual healing keep praying. Keep pursuing God. Keep praying. God has not always healed areas that I have most wanted healed, he still may but he has not yet, but there are other areas that he knew, in his infinite wisdom, were more important for him to address with me. So I continue to press in for healing, but I trust God’s timing and his perfect plan. God does redeem our pain. Our most painful experiences when we place them at his feet and surrender them to him can be used for good whether or not the enemy intended them for evil. What flipped the switch for me was when I realized that if I denied my faith, if I allowed my anger and bitterness to boil under the surface, then I would have given Satan the ultimate victory because he would have stolen the most beautiful thing in my life: my relationship with my Lord and Savior. I refused to give him that pleasure. Trauma occurred out of my control, but my response did not. You decided that your faith in God was stronger and more important than the enemy having victory over your life. God can work in and through the most hurtful experiences in our lives, and he can bring us to a place of restoration.
