This one begins with piano as the main melodic focus, with Benmont Tench playing a lounge player style lick over top of a sumptuously dark and foreboding rhythm section. The drums are dry and present and Howie Epstein's bass guitar adds the bottom end colour to a scene that feels like a dimly lit hotel bar.If you want to check out the song ahead of the episode, you can find it here: https://youtu.be/P8qB--d6q3A To listen to the Fillmore 97 version go here: https://tinyurl.com/23fuush8 Check out Ian and Michael's brilliant podcast, Lord of Adders Black, here : https://goodpods.com/podcasts/lord-of-adders-black-413109 You can find Scott Haskin's new Deep Purple show, Smoke on the Podcast, here : https://goodpods.com/podcasts/smoke-on-the-podcast-627907 And if you want to read that awful Independent review, check that out here : https://tinyurl.com/yxdwwb4a Don't forget to follow me on social media, like, subscribe, and please, leave a rating if you like the show.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thetompettyprojectBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/tompettyproject.bsky.socialInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetompettyprojectYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thetompettyprojectThreads: https://www.threads.net/@thetompettyprojectAll music, including the theme song, provided by my very best friend Randy Woods. Episode 13. How Many Say I with special guests Scott Haskin of The Haskin Cast and Alan Schatzberg of RushRash! Join your officially pardoned co-hosts Scotzo, Chaz, and Wolfie for an energetic and accomplished feeling discussion on the most unique Van Halen track ever committed to the universe. This is the last song on Van Halen III, and it's the most fun we've ever had with a single conversation! All that, a plate of regular wings, and a special Kool-Aid cut from the boys at Dave & Dave Unchained! Remember, Van Halen III Redux is the work of Seaside Pod Review, Tom Petty Project, and Ultimate Catalog Clashpodcast host Kevin Brown and producer Scott D. Monroe, our own Scotzo. Listen to their Redux version of VHIII that's lighter, leaner, and in some circles a means to salvaging the disc a producer in a different circumstance might have produced. Ahem. Season 3 of the Regarding...Series - Welcome to the ultimate rediscovery of Van Halen's most controversial album. At the outset, we represent a good spectrum of views: Wolfie is 100% no opinion on the album; Scott leans more positive but is in the middle and has some dislikes; and Chaz is … appreciative as a student of Edward Van Halen, and empathetic to his artistic cause, but not a big fan of the final output overall. To put it mildly. How Many Say Why is all they could be heard muttering to themselves, in a sea-shanty sort of sway. How Many Say Why? How Many Say Why? Well, we're (almost) done folks! We brought in the Terror of Tulsa to help us wrap things up and it was a fun chat as always!Kev and Corey laid out their top ten from the season and we find out who we're covering for Season Five! A special thanks to our pal Michael J Smith for providing the trivia for this season and giving Kev one last chance to win a game in this goddamn series! But, will Kev be able to take Corey on in such a quiz? Who will win the battle to decide the Season Five music, and will the notable nudist be a fan of incessant Knopfling!?!The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and get a shiver in the dark!NOTE: Scott has not morphed into a dalek, there was just a strange issue with his audio!Don't forget to follow us on social media and leave us a rating/review if you're enjoying the show!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/UltimateCatalogueClashBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/ucatalogueclash.bsky.socialDiscord: https://discord.gg/76F8G8FEX8Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/ultimatecatalogueclash Hosted on Acast. The late great Stephen Hawking once said “I believe alien life is quite common in the universe, although intelligent life is less so. Some say it has yet to appear on planet Earth.” Well Steve, some say that it's yet to appear on this podcast, but tonight, we have a third party who might bring the intelligence quotient up. We're joined once again by our good pal; author, songwriter, musician, and podcaster extraordinaire, Scott K Haskin! Scott was listening to the Foo Fighters for the very first time and we're not really sure we've converted him! We dig into our thoughts about the catalogue, we have some excellent trivia courtesy of the wonderful Adam Janis, and we discover which artist we'll be covering on Season Four of the Ultimate Catalogue clash! Who will it be? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and fight foo!Don't forget to follow us on social media and leave us a rating/review if you're enjoying the show!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/UltimateCatalogueClashTwitter: https://twitter.com/UCatalogueClashBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/ucatalogueclash.bsky.social Hosted on Acast. Bu bum, bu bum, bu bum, bu bum...do you smell that? It's the madness we refer to as Regarding...The Season Wrap: our round table discussion of Roger Waters' Dark Side of the Moon Redux...a cavalcade of podcasting stars join Chaz and Wolfie on this truly final listen to one of the most questionable reduxings of all time, which should leave you, intrepid listener, feeling freshly reduxed and ready for a shower. Join the conversation with Alan "The Schatz" Schatzberg from RushRash, along with the Sexiest Man in Podcasting, Scott Haskin of The HaskinCast, and that feisty British-Canadian everyone loves to call Lars, Kevin Brown, of the The Ultimate Catalog Clash, along with the newest member of the Regarding...Series of Podcasts Team, Scott Monroe as we slum through a group listen that had all of us groping for the volume knob and kill switch...We can't wait to begin season three of the Regarding...Series: Regarding Van Halen III. And it becomes pretty obvious at that... Pointed questions persist, starting with Why Roger, Why? But from there, many more questions on motives, use of narcotics, band members, instruments, and using the 50th anniversary of the release of The Dark Side of the Moon to maintain relevance...it's a "no-holes" barred aural pillage that will still leave you asking...for fucks sake...Why Roger, why? And what the hell's wrong with this lot for all of the time they've spent listening to this...work of artistic decrement? Tear down the wall and join Chaz, Wolfie, and the rest of our all-star panel take one final rip off this bong-hit of a "season that was" on the Regarding...Series, and party like it's 1984 with one final example, served up with respect and for reflection of Mr. Waters, of what we consider to be redux done right. Whoo ohhhh!!
IT'S OVER! Season One is in the bag and Scott Haskin quizzes us a little more on trivia, we hear which songs Corey and Kevin would pick to make their ultimate album from the songs they've covered this season and finally, we find out which artist our intrepid duo will be covering next season. And folks, it couldn't be that much further from Phil Collins-era Genesis. Will Corey admit that prog ain't so bad? Will Kevin stop, for the love of gods, talking about Fading Lights, and will guest host Scott Haskin finally admit that Snowbound is a big old pile of puppy poo? Lest we shatter the illusion of integrity, we did not take a "re-spin" or "free-spin", we let the bones roll and thus we get to listen to The Spirit Of Radio here within the first five shows! A cunning stunt if there ever was one, maybe we're amazed and just can't stand it, but we let it be and go our own way analyzing one of the greatest tracks in Rush's catalog, as if we're equipped to discuss such song so nascent in our podcasting career! This week's episode is the second installment The Petty 8ight!I love talking to Pettyheads, musicians, and other people who have been influenced by Tom or his music in myriad ways, but I thought it would be neat to see what non-fans, or non-hardcore fans think of Tom's music if I threw deeper cuts at them.My second #Petty8ight guest is my best friend and musical mentor, Randy Woods. Randy is the guy who does all the little musical interludes. He's also a songwriter, singer, guitarist, all round musician, sound engineer, producer, foley artist, score composer, post-production engineer and basically, if it makes a noise, Randy knows how to deal with it and make it sound great! He's also my cohost on the Seaside Pod Review and all round exemplary human being who I love and admire immensely. He's also unafraid to talk about things he doesn't love in music and, as with Scott Haskin, he surprised me with which song he took off the list and which three songs made his EP. If you want to (and you REALLY should) check out Randy's music, you can find it here.Apple: https://music.apple.com/ca/artist/randy-woods-band/1193736961 and https://music.apple.com/ca/artist/absofunkinlutely/275156677Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0RDFoyY7zxn0gbzmIBudV8 and https://open.spotify.com/artist/1EcCTu5SUl2r5PMgRuNp11The Tom Petty Project is a proud member of The Deep Dive Podcast Network, which you can find on Twitter: https://twitter.com/deepdivepodnetDon't forget to follow me on social media, like, subscribe, and please, leave a rating if you like the show:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thetompettyprojectTwitter: https://twitter.com/TomPettyProjectInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetompettyproject/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt6BLRWuuAR43zHpNKIirOwAll music, including the theme song, provided by my very best friend Randy Woods. Chaz N Schatz pop cheap Dominican light beer with Pete Guido, Chaz's brother of another mother, all around Rush-nut and drummer of Long Island's own hard rock rumor "Mr. Snips". He's got quite the itch, and we get to scratching - till it bleeds!! Pete's had a long journey with the band as a musician and fan, and has a gritty history as a cop on the mean streets of New York City. Join us for a listen to one of the more energetic, dark and challenging tracks off Rush's 2012 final album, Clockwork Angels. What do you get when you put Keith Moon in a police uniform and turn him loose with 92.3 K-Rock and a loudspeaker?? Total chaos and laughs to crack your face a thousand times over. Grab your smokes and kick back for a demented ride that Nic Cage would tacitly approve of. Fu

This episode is the first installment in a new feature for the podcast; The Petty 8ight!I love talking to Pettyheads, musicians, and other people who have been influenced by Tom or his music in myriad ways, but I thought it would be neat to see what non-fans thought of Tom's music if I threw some songs at them.My first guest is the creative hurricane, Scott Haskin, who aside from podcasting himself, is also a novelist, a humourist, a musician, a producer, a film composer, and an all round gem of a human being! We sat down for just about three hours and talked about music and art, and of course, the eight songs that I had given him to listen to and critique. This episode will be a greatly condensed version of our chat, focusing on Scott's thoughts about the songs I threw at him. Guest: Scott Haskin from Las Vegas, USA (Magician's Podcast, HaskinCast, Back Tracks: Aerosmith) https://www.scotthaskin.com/ We came in this morning high on a bird's wing to bring you this episode of Judas Priestcast! Two longtime Judas Priest fanatics (and new friends) George and Hattie come together from opposite sides of the world, united in their love of the iconic heavy metal band. Winding down a block of episodes on 70s Priest, we enlisted the prolific Scott Haskin to offer input on one more track from Rocka Rolla: "Dying to Meet You/Hero Hero". In this song, we find poignant lyrics that paint vivid visuals, and musical pieces indicative of the era. We also take some time to learn a bit about Uriah Heep, a contemporary band to Judas Priest, whose discography Scott has discussed in full on The Magician's Podcast. Grab a drink, have a listen, and let us know if this strange, lengthy, early-career tune slays and waylays in the heat of the midday sun. Share what you think about "Dying to Meet You / Hero Hero"!
