Our second KoFi member selection covers the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne and his killer 1991 record, "No More Tears". Get ready for songs about creepy dudes, hellraisers, zombies, and yo momma! There's pinched harmonics for everyone and lots of love for one of the grandaddies of heavy metal! All thanks to our pal Ruddy Rutherford for sending this one to us! The question is, how much will we love it? Will Kev be into a song about Aston Villa? WilL Corey like ballads closing both sides of a heavy metal album? And will the heads be bitten off any bats? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and come and sit upon my knee!Songs covered in this episode: "Mr. Tinkertrain", "I Don't Want to Change the World", "Mama, I'm Coming Home", "Desire", "No More Tears", "S.I.N. My oh my. What a wild ride we have in store for you. We all know that it's not Christmas until Noddy Holder screams the fact into your ear, but what else do Slade have in store for us? Kev's pretty sure that Corey only picked 1983 for this season so he could talk about Run Runaway, but will he give it a 10, 10, and 5? Will Kev believe in woman? Nine down, one to go! That's right. We've idolized Billy (kinda, sorta) and tucked Rebel Yell neatly into the "finished' box. Side Bs this season have typically not fared as well as Side As, but Billy's only top ten single in the US from this record is on this side! So can album number nine crack the top three records we've covered this season? How is Kev's Star Wars knowledge? In 1983, two young women emerged from the New York music scene and blazed their way into the popular music. Madonna went from strength to strength and became a cultural icon, while Cyndi carved out a niche in the alternative music scene with brief daliances with the top ten over the subsequent decades. Look, we just need a last little bit of Knopfling before we close the book on Dire Straits and move onto Corey's mad idea to cover TEN (yes that's T.E.N.) albums by different artists in Season Five. Kev's pretty sure this is just Corey wanting to hang onto the season for as long as humanly possible but hey, it should be damn good fun! Before then, we decided to bring in the Quizmaster from last week, Michael J Smith to talk Live Dire Straits. We couldn't decide between the two major live releases before the band split, so we're covering all the official live releases! That's right, both Alchemy and On The Night are up for discussion, as well as the 1978-1992 boxset, and we're gonna be building our perfect Dire Straits live set! But what hypothesis would Big Bad Bill have about why Kevin is so crap at our Ultimate Catalogue Clash side games? Hypotheses a) Kev's throwing the game because he likes being the underdog, unlikely, he's a competitive little toad and we'd have to assume he actually knows the answers, b) Corey is cheating, also unlikely as Corey is far too principled and decent a man to do that, and Kev can see him on the other side of the screen… c) Corey just has a better mind for working these things out. As we can see from these three scenarios, Occam's razor definitely guides us to the logical conclusion that Corey is cheating. Will Corey find more variety and something to love on the second acoustic side and will Kevin close the gap in The Best Of You after trouncing Corey last week? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and high dive into your brain.Songs covered in this episode: "Over and Out", "On the Mend", "Virginia Moon", "Cold Day in the Sun", "Razor"Don't forget to follow us on social media and leave us a rating/review if you're enjoying the show!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/UltimateCatalogueClashTwitter: https://twitter.com/UCatalogueClashBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/ucatalogueclash.bsky.social Hosted on Acast. The late, great Audrey Hepburn once said “I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles. Especially when they're included on rock n roll albums from the mid 2000s” Well Audrey, that's an interesting perspective and we hope that we agree when we get to The Miracle on this side of In Your Honor. Will Corey be smitten with the first song that Dave ever wrote on acoustic guitar and will Kevin dig a complete change of pace from the raucus tracklist we've listened to so far?The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, pin me down, and go another round.Songs covered in this episode: "Still", "What If I Do?", "Miracle", "Another Round", "Friend of a Friend"Don't forget to follow us on social media and leave us a rating/review if you're enjoying the show!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/UltimateCatalogueClashTwitter: https://twitter.com/UCatalogueClashBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/ucatalogueclash.bsky.social Hosted on Acast. Corey and Kevin are back to talk about Side B of In Your Honor. We're including the UK/Japan/Vinyl/iTunes bonus track for this episode, so we're not ending with End Over End. So, despite all our complaining about natural end points, we're blowing right on by this one, but hey, we saw the sign! It opened up .... Corey's already told me off for using that lyric so I won't repeat it. Will Kevin be a fan of blues and blacks? Will Corey extend his already almost unassailable lead in The Best Of You? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, pin me down, and show me how.Songs covered in this episode: "Free Me", "Resolve", "The Deepest Blues Are Black", "End Over End", "The Sign"Don't forget to follow us on social media and leave us a rating/review if you're enjoying the show!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/UltimateCatalogueClashTwitter: https://twitter.com/UCatalogueClashBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/ucatalogueclash.bsky.social Hosted on Acast.
