In This Episode: The Internet Archive saves an old car. AI Bird IDs. Claude code. Ringing Lost Dogs. This week the TEH Podcast is hosted by Leo Notenboom, the “Chief Question Answerer” at Ask Leo!, and Gary Rosenzweig, the host and producer of MacMost, and mobile game developer at Clever Media. (You’ll find longer Bios on the Hosts page.) Top Stories 0:00 LN: Internet Archive to the rescue My wife is visiting my sister-in-law, and the parking brake in her 2000 Honda CRV (originally my mother’s car) froze up. The pull-lever i the center wouldn't budge. I got messaged for help. I searched for “2000 honda crv maintenance manual”. The second entry is The Internet Archive's scan of the ~1400 page manual. https://archive.org/details/HondaCRV19972000  I was able to send her images from the manual about how to access and lubricate the pull lever. This isn't the first time IA has popped up randomly to help. It's an amazing resource. 5:45 LN: What bird is  that? Another story of things coming together. My wife takes a photo with her phone (Pixel 4a) of a hawk sitting on a fence in our neighborhood. https://flic.kr/p/2rVhrLG  The photo is auto-uploaded to her Google Photos account. I grab a copy and crop it. Original is 4032×3024, so there are lots of opportunities. Not bad. https://flic.kr/p/2rVjh8d  7:00 I fire up Topaz Gigapixel AI, and, with a little adjustment of settings, upscale the image 4x. I then crop it further to focus more closely on the bird. Also not bad, though there are some tell-tale signs that this was AI upscaled. https://flic.kr/p/2rVisjk  9:15 My wife asks me what kind of hawk that might be. No clue. So I decided to try … ChatGPT. I upload the upscaled image, and ask simply, “What kind of bird is this?” Likely ID: Red-tailed Hawk (juvenile) Based on the bulky buteo shape, overall brown upperparts, the pale “checkerboard” pattern on the wings, and the strongly banded tail (common in young birds before they develop the classic red tail), this looks most consistent with a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk. We do indeed have red-tailed hawks around here. It’s interesting that it ID'd a juvenile. 15:00 Identify birds. https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org/  18:00 LN: Claude Code Installed on my PC because it promised to be able to work on local data 20:00 Non-trivial install (at least for Windows – WSL, and then you're running in an Ubuntu bash shell). 21:10 Scenario 1: My Obsidian vault – all plain text (.md) files. I can now ask questions and run analyses across the entire collection of notes. 24:00 Scenario 2a: My personal blog. Pointed it at leo.notenboom.org – did OK, but incomplete. 25:00 Scenario 2b: exported by personal blog content from WordPress as an XML file. Dense, lots of cruft. Gave that to Claude and got a very complete, detailed analysis / summary of what I've been doing there since 2004. 27:00 Scenario 3: downloaded the contents of 23 years of Ask Leo! I think you should all have, as your new year's resolution, to tune in to more INCREDIBLE PhiladelphiaSportsTakes (trademark) right here on Hoagie Mouth. Heck, we gave you holiday episode after episode! Just so committed to the bit, we are.UP FIRST - it's the Eagles, winning a squeaker in Buffalo. Dude, we had them shut out in the first half! We know the defense is epic, an all-timer, a total bulldozer of a squad. But the offense, I mean LORDY what do we do with that? Is there a "switch" that can happen in the playoffs? Well, with the Eagles in line to host the first round at home, we need to see it. Commies at the Linc to wrap out the season on Sundee, Morman Missile under center. Book it.The Sixers - a bit of a roller coaster on the west coast swing, but we had an instant classic in Memphis to enjoy (along with last nights solid wire-to-wire win against the Mavs and COOP in Dallas). And JoJo starting to WARM UP 30 games into the season :-). But it's always a great thing to watch "Maxey and the VJ" every night - turning into the most dynamic duo in the NBA HMMM??And then yes, you all finally get a Flyers segment! They have been on their own long west coast trudge, and it's been about a .500 affair...but the last couple of games show a really creative and unrelenting offense. Can their defense show up a bit more to protect that possible Venezia Trophy finalist between the pipes? If you don't know what I just said there, you need to watch more hockey. It's Monday, September 22nd, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus South Korean pastor has disappeared A week after Pastor Son Hyun-bo from Busan Segyeoro Church in South Korea was arrested for violating public election laws, little information has been made public about his well-being or whereabouts, reports International Christian Concern. Pastor Son, who was arrested on September 8th, is facing the charges in part for allegedly interviewing an election candidate, Jeong Seung-yoon, during a church service and uploading a video of the conversation to social media. He also faces allegations of holding a “prayer service for victory” at Jeong's campaign office and stating, “We must vote for the right-wing candidate and truly establish God's kingdom.” Pastor Son has been active in contending against government overreach, including serving as a leader of the “Save Korea” group, which campaigns against the current left-leaning South Korean President Lee Myung, prime minister, and Democratic Party, who are in power. The outcry against Pastor Son's arrest has been strong. One representative stated openly that, “Pastor Son's arrest is not about an individual but a suppression of all religious figures.” Charlie Kirk's memorial pointed the world to Christ I felt compelled to attend Charlie Kirk's memorial at State Farm Arena in Phoenix, Arizona yesterday. (You can watch it here) So, on Friday and Saturday, my bride, Amy, and I drove 15 hours over two days from San Antonio, Texas with our three children – Honor, age 15, Mercy, age 13, and Valor, age 10 – to celebrate his life and grieve his death at the hands of an assassin's bullet on September 10th at Utah Valley University. Reportedly, 300,000 people from across America came by car and plane. Our family sat in the State Farm Arena which held 63,400 people. Next door, the Desert Diamond Arena held an additional 20,000 people who watched big video screens. Beginning with Christian worship led by Brandon Lake, Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham, as well as Cody and Kari Carnes, it was a deeply moving experience as speaker after speaker echoed Charlie Kirk's call to come to Christ. Benny Johnson came to faith in Christ through Charlie Kirk Benny Johnson, a conservative influencer, was quite candid. JOHNSON: “When Charlie first met me, I was a degenerate loser. I was addicted to alcohol. I had no wife, I had no kids. I had nothing going for me. After 10 years of work with Charlie Kirk, after his witnessing to my life, I have become a Christ-centered man. I am happily married to the woman of my dreams, sitting right there with our youngest son, who just turned eight months.” He framed the assassination of Charlie Kirk in light of the truth of Genesis 50:20. JOHNSON: “What man intends for evil. God intends for good. Evil thought that there would be a funeral today. God has created a revival right here in this house right now.” (applause) Indeed, through the 3,200 chapters of Turning Point USA not only are more college students equipped with the truth, but many are coming to Christ. Frank Turek: Why Charlie Kirk is in Heaven Frank Turek is a Christian apologist who mentored Charlie with the best answers to tough questions about Christianity.  TUREK: “I want you to know that Charlie right now is in Heaven, not because he was a great husband and father. Not because he saved millions of kids out of darkness on college campuses.  Not because he changed minds and chased votes to save the country. Not because he sacrificed himself for his savior. Charlie Kirk is in Heaven because his Savior sacrificed himself for Charlie Kirk.” Tucker Carlson: “The only real solution is Jesus.” Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson explained what made Charlie Kirk unique. CARLSON: “The main thing about Charlie and his message, he was bringing the Gospel to the country. He was doing the thing that the people in charge hate most, which is calling for them to repent. “So how is Charlie's message different? Charlie was a political person who was deeply interested in coalition building and in getting the right people in office because he knew that vast improvements are possible politically. But he also knew that politics is not the final answer. It can't answer the deepest questions, actually. The only real solution is Jesus.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio highlighted Charlie's boldness and affirmation of marriage Secretary of State Marco Rubio highlighted Charlie Kirk's boldness. RUBIO: “Charlie Kirk was bold. He actively sought out to engage --peacefully, respectfully -- those who he disagreed with. As recently as two days ago, we learned of one of the hosts on CNN, who said that one of the messages he had gotten just a few days before Charlie's passing, was from him, inviting him to dialogue. “And he did this on campuses. He did this on podcasts. He did this on radio shows. He did this on television shows. Time and again, he sought to engage those he disagreed with because he understood that we were not created to isolate ourselves from one another, but to engage. “The irony in all this is that what our nation needs is the ability to discuss our differences openly, honestly, peacefully, respectfully. And Charlie Kirk did that more than anyone alive in America today is doing. This was the mission and work of Charlie Kirk.” And Secretary of State Rubio appreciated Charlie's affirmation of marriage and family to young people. RUBIO: “Understand where we are still today. In many places where young Americans are actively told that everything that they were taught, that all the foundations that made our society and our civilization so grand, they were all wrong. They were all evil, that marriage is oppressive, that children are a burden, that America is a source of evil, not of good, in the world. “And here was this voice that inspired a movement in which young Americans were told that is not true, the highest calling we are called to is to be in a successful marriage and to raise productive children.” War Secretary Hegseth: “Live worthy of Charlie Kirk's sacrifice and put Christ at the center” War Secretary Pete Hegseth explained that Charlie Kirk used the gift of persuasion on college campuses. HEGSETH: “Charlie waged war, not with a weapon, but with a tent, a microphone, his mind, and the truth. And the gates of hell could not prevail against him.” (Matthew 16:17-19) Secretary Hegseth spoke of Christian revival. HEGSETH: “Charlie started a political movement, but unleashed a spiritual revival. My pastor texted me the day after that horrific event and said, ‘Pete, the devil overplayed his hand.' Charlie started with liberty, but ended up lighting our country on fire for Christ. He started Turning Point USA, but this moment is the turning point for the USA.” And Secretary Hegseth gave America a charge in light of Charlie Kirk's Christian legacy. HEGSETH:  “Charlie Kirk was a citizen who had the biblical heart of a soldier of the faith, who put on every single day the full armor of God (Ephesians 6) with a smile as the Scriptures tell all Christ followers to do. Charlie Kirk:  a warrior for country, a warrior for Christ. He ran the race. He finished the fight. Now, it's our turn. My charge to all of you: Live worthy of Charlie Kirk's sacrifice and put Christ at the center of your life as he advocated for giving his.” Colossians 1:10 says, “Live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.” Donald Trump, Jr. compared Charlie Kirk's martyrdom with Stephen Donald Trump, Jr.  compared the martyrdom of Stephen with the martyrdom of Charlie Kirk. TRUMP JR: “Last week, Charlie joined a long line of courageous men and women who were martyred for what they believe. According to the book of Acts, the first martyr in the early Christian church was Stephen who was stoned to death. And as Stephen was being killed, he said, ‘Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing, standing, at the right hand of God.' “There are many times in the Bible where Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, but this is the only time he's seen standing. And while the Bible isn't explicit about this, I like to think Jesus was standing to welcome Stephen, the courageous martyr into Heaven. Today. that gives me great comfort because 11 days ago, as a cowardly assassin crawled on his stomach to end Charlie's life on Earth, I'm betting Charlie saw the son of God standing tall to welcome him home.” Vice President J.D. Vance admired Charlie Kirk's courage Vice President J.D. Vance shared that he's been personally emboldened to share his faith more since Kirk's assassination. VANCE: “You know, I was telling somebody backstage that I always felt a little uncomfortable talking about my faith in public as much as I loved the Lord and as much it was an important part of my life. I have talked more about Jesus Christ in the past two weeks than I have my entire time in public life.” (cheers) Vice President Vance is upset that some on the Left actually cheered Charlie Kirk's death. VANCE: “He was taken from us by those who despise the virtues that actually made our civilization great to begin with: dialogue, truth, seeking family and faith. In the wake of his death, we have seen some of the very worst parts of humanity. We have watched people slander him. We have watched people justify his murder and celebrate his death.” And Vice President Vance admired Charlie Kirk's courage. VANCE: “It is better to face a gunman than to live your life afraid to speak the truth. It is better to be persecuted for your faith than to deny the kingship of Christ. It is better to die a young man in this world than to sell your soul for an easy life with no purpose, no risk, no love, and no truth.” Joshua 1:9 says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Erika Kirk forgave her husband's killer And finally, Erika Kirk, Charlie's widow, who will now serve as the CEO of Turning Point USA, said something remarkable that brought all of us to our feet. ERIKA KIRK:  “On the cross, our Savior said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.'  (Luke 23:34) “That man, [Tyler Robinson], I forgive him. (applause as she wept) I forgive him because it was what Christ did, and it's what Charlie would do. The answer to hate is not hate. The answer, we know from the Gospel, is love, always love. Love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us.” Ephesians 4:32 commands, “Forgive one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, September 22nd, in the year of our Lord 2025. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). Discover the profound biblical significance of the rainbow that goes beyond its modern cultural associations. After the devastating global flood, God established the rainbow as a covenant sign—a promise to never again destroy the earth with water despite humanity's continued sinfulness. The Hebrew word for rainbow (keshet) reveals something remarkable: it's the same word used for a warrior's bow or weapon. But unlike a weapon aimed at an enemy, the rainbow's arch points upward toward heaven, not downward at earth. This powerful imagery shows God redirecting His righteous judgment away from humanity and toward Himself—a beautiful foreshadowing of Christ taking our punishment on the cross.Explore how this ancient symbol connects to the gospel message, where God's mercy triumphs over judgment. Learn why the rainbow is essentially 'nature's gospel'—a colorful reminder that God's wrath has been satisfied through Jesus, and all that remains for believers is the flood of His unfailing love. This message examines:- The biblical origin of the rainbow in Genesis- Why human hearts are naturally inclined toward sin- God's dilemma between justice and mercy- How the rainbow points to Jesus and the cross- Practical ways to apply this understanding to your daily walk with God.

Let's set the scene: America at the beginning of the 20th Century, and despite their suffocating corsets that created the prized Gibson Girl physique, women are on the move, literally--they are fishing, biking, golfing, playing tennis and riding in those new automobiles. And there's a war raging between the Suffragists fighting for Women's rights, and the Anti-Suffragists who think it's enough that women are queens of the domestic sphere. What are their weapons? Pointed sticks--specifically knitting needles. According to Anne Macdonald's No Idle Hands: The Social History of Knitting, knitting for the Suffragists was exactly the kind of thing keeping women in chains, quiet, silent and occupied in the home. For Haryot Cahoon, a "forward woman" Suffragist, real women don't knit, and it's time to drop all those stitches and do something important: "A vast amount of drudgery is sugar coated with economy . . . If you wish to knit lace because you have more time on your hands than you know what to do with, you are the very one the world needs, with your youth and your energy and your industrious spirit . . . [Don't] puzzle your brain over 'knit one, skip one, purl one, drop one.' Drop them all! That's best!" Haryot Cahoon, quoted in Anne Macdonald's No Idle Hands: The Social History of American Knitting, p. 181. The "Antis" or Anti-Suffragists were quick to characterize their opponents as "a sisterhood of cranks who wear grey woolen underwear and number seven shoes and whose skirt and waist don't meet in the back" (Macdonald, p. 178). Knitting wasn't drudgery--it was magic for the Antis, "mysteriously 'feminine,' a bit of sorcery beyond the mere ken of males" (p. 182). The battle ended with a real war--World War I, where once again every woman, and yes, even man and child, picked up their pointed sticks to "Knit For Sammy" and save the world, or at least a lot of American feet. Even the "Rocky Mountain Knitter Boys" of Mapleton, Colorado stopped throwing spitballs for a while and declared "Knitting's the best thing ever to steady your nerves" (p. 235).We are glad to say goodbye to corsets, but we are grateful to the Suffragists for our rights and to the Anti-Suffragists who kept the magic of knitting alive--we'll take our rights with our knitting, thank you. We want the freedom to do what we want--whether that's knitting or making Michele Lee Bernstein's fabulous Lemon Orzo Pasta Salad, or something else. We say, do what you want! That's best!

We've been given full permission to give our complete attention to chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, talking about Kṛṣṇa, and worshiping Kṛṣṇa. And if somebody brings up another topic, you can say, 'I appreciate it very much. If it were any other lifetime, I would be happy to discuss it with you. However, in this lifetime, I no longer have time, because I have been given one business—and that is to chant about Kṛṣṇa, worship Kṛṣṇa, and spread the Holy Name to people all over the world. If it was any other lifetime, I would be happy to talk to you about it. But in this lifetime, I've dedicated myself to this project, and I don't have time. Like, you know, sometimes people say, "It was any other day," or "any other something." It's like, "It was any other lifetime, it was any other previous lifetime." I would have probably been happy to talk to you about this, but in this lifetime, I won't be able to, because I have one point of dedication: Tasmād ekena manasā Bhagavān sātvatāṁ patiḥ Śrotavyaḥ kīrtitavyaś ca Dhyeyaḥ pūjyaś ca nityadā. (SB 1.2.14) This is the conclusion of the seminar, the 1000-Year seminar that took place at Naimiśāraṇya. They came up with a few mission statements, and one of them is "tasmād ekena manasā." Therefore, "tasmād ekena manasā" means to just point your mind in one direction. This has been the mission statement; it has been passed down from the top of the company. They already decided, and they gave it to us. So, if someone wants to bring your mind somewhere else, to some other conversation that doesn't sound like it's part of your mission, say, "Yeah, no problem. If it was some other previous lifetime, I would have definitely entertained it with you. But in this lifetime, I've been given 'tasmād ekena manasā bhagavān sātvatāṁ patiḥ.' I can only think of Bhagavān and do that kind of business and topic. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #makejapagreatagain #mantrameditation #chantharekrishnaandbehappy #soul #mantrameditation #spiritualawakening #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Fast, pointed, and irresistibly astute: Andor's Season 2 premiere, “One Year Later,” isn't holding any punches. In our recap this week, we discuss Andor's magical ability to pull on both historic and modern-day threads. The super-secret Imperial summit, for instance, calls back to the World War II Wannsee Conference and its “Final Solution of the Jewish Question.” But it's also a dead ringer for conversations about energy independence happening in the White House today. In its zippy season premiere, Andor manages to mock leftist infighting (again), stage a gloriously tense TIE Avenger heist, and throw open the Mothma estate for a splashy pre-nuptial bash. Researchers isolated one kind of cone in the eye and aimed lasers at it to allow subjects to see a super vibrant teal shade they call “olo.”Think about the colors of the world around you—the blue of a cloudless sky, the green of a new leaf, the blazing red of a tulip's petals. We see these colors because of the way our eyes work. But what if we could change how our eyes respond to light, and present them with light in a form they'd never encounter in the natural world? What would we see? This week, researchers reported in the journal Science Advances that by using precisely aimed laser light, they were able to selectively target just one of the three types of color-sensing cones in the human retina. The cone, dubbed “M” because it responds to medium wavelengths of light, is normally stimulated at the same time as cones that respond to longer wavelength reddish light, or shorter wavelength bluish light. But after mapping the location of the cones in several subjects' eyes, the researchers were able to target just the M cones with one specific wavelength of green laser light—a condition that would never exist in nature. The result, they say, is a highly saturated bluish-green teal color unlike anything in the real world. The researchers named their new color “olo.”Study author James Fong, a computer science PhD student at University of California Berkeley, and his advisor, Dr. Ren Ng, join Host Flora Lichtman to talk about the project, and the possibility of expanding the limits of human color perception.Transcript for this story will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com.
