The Slaw is all about what makes Pittsburgh, well, Pittsburgh. For the past year, we have been profiling Pittsburgh places and Pittsburgh people. In honor of our one-year anniversary, we have a very special guest: documentary filmmaker Rick Sebak. In some ways, Sebak is as much a part of our city as bridges and Primanti sandwiches. While he makes both national and local programs for public television, he explains, “I know that no one can love the national programs as much as Pittsburghers love the Pittsburgh shows.” While this episode is a bit longer than a regular episode, according to Sebak, “if you look at something long enough, it becomes interesting.” From pro tips to surprising history to inherently Pittsburgh traits to rules for road tripping to favorite takeout spots and recipes, we think there's something here for everyone. And if that wasn't enough, we've got a bonus playlist from DJ Arie Cole and a best-of bridges segment.
Berita Semasa Bersama Kool FM AG, Haiza, Muaz
We are joined by our dear friend Jason Santopietro, aka Duffy. We discuss some new tunes from NFG and Owen, talk about the glory days of Sebak! and Duffy and Jimmy go deep on some of their favorite drummers of all time. All that and so much more! Enjoy!
This is a bonus "episode" to go along with all the Sebak! talk in Ep. 27. This is for those who never got a chance to hear it and also for the ones who were die-hards who might like having this little piece of nostalgia available at their fingertips. "It's Our Time Down Here" was recorded by Sebak! in 2010 (I believe?) All 8 of these 'party-punk' tracks from this recording are on this bonus episode for your enjoyment! So please, enjoy!!!

Her skildres både suksess og ulykke. Boken er et vesentlig bidrag både til å forstå jødisk innvandring til Norge og det norske holocaust. Foredrag av og med forfatter Per Kristian Sebak under Biblioteksfesten ved Bergen offentlige bibliotek, 09.11.2019.

#100 Episode Celebration LIVE Game Show! Hello 2018! Well, 2017 was rough and can seriously stick it. We are here now in 2018, and I started it right with a live game show of The Match Game called "Marta Match" complete with magic by Lee Terbosic, a musical drag show by Deep Violet, free craft beer, retro gaming, a butt load of laughter, merriment, a good cause like Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Pittsburgh and welcome friends! The night was better than I could have expected. I had THE best time, and it truly was a dream come true for me to be your game show host for the evening. We had such wonderful talent on stage. Deep Violet and Lee Terbosic NAILED their performances to the point I couldn't breathe I was laughing so hard. Remember to support Pittsburgh creativity and local events, because there is so much of it out there that is making it happen. A few hundred thanks... I wanted to give a personal thank you to the staff at City Theatre for rocking my evening. Everything was so on point, professional, and fun. Adam Nelson for being my personal "Manna White", and game master, Thomas Douglas for providing his expert musical skills, and my panelists who MADE my evening so much brighter. I could do this everyday. Hopefully I will get to do it again, very soon. A MASSIVE thank you goes out to my sponsors- Helicon brewing, Levity, Selective Foods, Gaucho Parilla Argentina, Aldo's Food Service, Harris Grill, and The Church Recording Studio. Without your support, this would have never have happened. Last but not least, I want to thank each and every one of you who donated your time on the coldest day of the year to come out to this event. I know it is hard getting out of that onesie. Hell, I am in one right now. You did though, and you made my wish happen. THANK YOU! IF you didn't get the chance to come (That does suck cause you probably missed the best party of the year, but we won't hold that against you.) Here is the audio from the evening that I am releasing as my 100th episode. I truly hope everyone's 2018 is magical. Let's make some amazing memories together :) NOTE- I have many requests for T- Shirts for the event, so I am doing a one time pre order. The design will be up soon. If interested please email Martafoos@gmail.com Also if you subscribe to my newsletter you will get pictures from the evening that are not posted here. #83 Rick Sebak FINALLY!!!! Not many of you know this, but I have been trying to get Rick Sebak on my show since day one. Our schedules have never synced up, until now, and I am so glad we waited, because it is pure gold. If you grew up in Pittsburgh, you knew his voice, and later spotted him around town. For those that don't know him, Rick is a highly skilled director, producer, and writer for WQED Pittsburgh. His signature "scrapbook documentaries" have been copied across the country, but never duplicated. His Kickstarter "Nebby" is going on now to build funds for 6 new videos highlighting Pittsburgh. We want that to happen, so make sure you head over, and donate to help us bring that to life! Rick has a certain way of showcasing the people, and history of Pittsburgh that is hard to put into words, so I am not going to try, if you have seen him, you know exactly what I mean. I will tell you, however, that we had a lovely conversation about his history, his story, Pittsburgh's food scene, and how he came to be THE man of Pittsburgh. This is by far one of my longest episodes, because it was a wonderful conversation we didn't want to end. We laughed, I almost cried, we talk Rick's fear of ghosts ;), compare our Pittsburgh accents, and eat some pie, it was perfect. Rick even has me take the CBS announcer test, which I think I passed! Make sure you listen all the way to the end, because Rick reads a gorgeous poem written in 1924 about Pittsburgh, and I really do tear up, thank goodness this is audio only. Subscribers to my newsletter get access to unpublished content. This time, it includes Rick playing the game of Accents with Marta On The Move, it was hilarious, and he nailed it! I can't wait to have him back on the show, this time for a meeting of the minds with John Schalcosky. It is sure to be greatness. Stay tuned! Photos by Dustin Wickett Closing music by Aaron Leeder Follow along on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram If you missed the previous episode with Patrick Jordan from Bare Bones Productions, check it out! Hilarious comedy. This episode is sponsored by Levity Pittsburgh! Ever floated in a sensory deprivation tank? Wanna know what it is like? Tune in here to hear my first experience! All listeners get $5 off all of their floats with code "Marta" Stay tuned for an event I am putting on with Jhon Yonan from MUV Integrated Fitness on May 20th at the Ace Hotel! Details soon!
