In early 2025 HPAI outbreaks had egg prices sitting at record highs; just one year later they're hitting inflation-adjusted historic lows. And while that may be great for consumers looking for a cheap source of protein, it has a lot of US producers feeling the squeeze. Joining us to discuss the issue is Brian Moscogiuri. Formerly of Urner Barry, and Eggs Unlimited, Brian recently launched a new venture called KHM Trading, a commercial wholesale broker of shell eggs and egg products. Brian understands the dynamics of the US egg market better than anyone, and today he discusses the factors contributing to the dip in prices, what the industry's doing to try and drum up new demand, and when producers might start to see some relief.

From the time you start to suspect you might have an HPAI outbreak on your farm, to getting lab confirmation, can take between 1 and 5 days. And while producers wait for those results to come back, they're forced to make extremely tough decisions — cancelling deliveries, isolating employees, culling entire flocks — based on incomplete information. Erik Tyrrell-Knott is the President and Chief Business Officer of Alveo, a company that's built a handheld HPAI testing device that delivers a trustworthy result in 45 minutes. And while their tests won't replace the current lab testing we use today, their aim is to give veterinarians and producers the data they need to act with speed and confidence. Today, Erik walks us through how the test works, why it represents such an important leap forward in the fight against HPAI, and how it could one day make "partial depopulation" possible.

Why has the search for Sasquatch captured the imagination of believers, skeptics, and scientists alike? In this fascinating and often entertaining episode, Brian Regal explores the world of cryptozoology through the lens of Searching for Sasquatch: Crackpots, Eggheads, and Cryptozoology. Blending history, humor, and critical insight, he examines the personalities and perspectives that have shaped the ongoing hunt for one of North America's most enduring legends. Brian delves into the divide between those who passionately pursue evidence of Bigfoot and those who approach the subject with scientific skepticism. From amateur enthusiasts trekking through forests to academics analyzing folklore and evidence, he highlights how this unique field brings together a wide range of viewpoints—sometimes clashing, sometimes overlapping. This episode goes beyond the creature itself, exploring what the search for Sasquatch reveals about human curiosity, belief, and the desire to explore the unknown. Why do some mysteries persist despite a lack of definitive proof? And what can the study of cryptozoology teach us about the way we interpret evidence and construct knowledge? Join us for a thought-provoking and engaging conversation that looks at Sasquatch not just as a legend—but as a cultural phenomenon that continues to blur the line between science, folklore, and imagination.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-x-zone-radio-tv-show--1078348/support.Please note that all XZBN radio and/or television shows are Copyright © REL-MAR McConnell Meda Company, Niagara, Ontario, Canada – www.rel-mar.com. Welcome to the RPGBOT.Podcast, where today's character creation lesson begins with basic geometry, escalates into psychic powers, and somehow ends with a pacifist circus bear being seriously considered as a build option. In this episode, we take the gloves off and actually make characters for Pulp Cthulhu—choosing archetypes, rolling stats, hoarding skill points like goblins, and discovering that if you roll too well, you might accidentally invent the world's first telepathic himbo artist. If you've ever wondered how Call of Cthulhu character creation becomes fast, fun, and dangerously powerful, this is where the pulp really starts to flow. The D8 goes in the D8 hole. Show Notes This episode walks step-by-step through Pulp Cthulhu character creation, showing how investigators are built to be tougher, broader, and far more cinematic than their classic Call of Cthulhu counterparts. Ash guides Tyler and Randall through the full process—then breaks it down into a Quick & Dirty method that can get players to the table in minutes. Step 1: Choose an Archetype Archetypes replace traditional "classes" and are rooted in classic pulp fiction roles: Mystic (psychic powers, occult insight, vibes) Egghead (engineers, scientists, gadgeteers) Two-Fisted, Swashbuckler, Femme Fatale, Bon Vivant, and more Each archetype: Defines a core characteristic Grants bonus archetype skills Suggests traits, occupations, and story hooks This approach encourages concept-first design, letting the character idea drive the mechanics instead of the other way around. Step 2: Generate Characteristics Attributes are rolled using the familiar D100 roll-under system, but with a key twist: Core characteristic = 1d6 + 13 × 5 (expect very high numbers) Other stats use 3d6×5 or 2d6+6×5 High pulp means exceptional competence The result? Characters who feel powerful immediately—sometimes too powerful, leading to delightful accidents like rolling: Incredible Power Solid looks Questionable intelligence (Yes, the "himbo build" is real.) Step 3: Talents (High Pulp Edition) Because this game is running High Pulp, characters receive four talents instead of two. Talents are drawn from four categories: Physical Mental Combat Miscellaneous Highlights from the episode include: Psychic Powers Arcane Insight Weird Science Animal Companion (responsibly downgraded from "bear" to "bear-adjacent dog") Talents dramatically define how characters play and reinforce pulp action over fragile realism. Step 4: Occupation & Skill Points Occupations grant massive skill point pools, often hundreds of points: Skills start with base percentages Occupational skills come first Archetype skills add another 100 points Personal interest skills add even more The result is wide, competent characters instead of hyper-specialized glass cannons. The episode includes practical advice: Avoid pushing every skill to 95 Aim for flexibility, not just peak numbers Remember Credit Rating is mandatory and matters in play Step 5: Backstory (Fast but Meaningful) Instead of long essays, Pulp Cthulhu uses structured prompts: Personal description (biased, first-person) Ideology and beliefs Significant people Treasured possessions Traits Random tables spark instant character hooks, like: Idolizing Nikola Tesla Carrying calipers as a grounding object Shared trauma bonds Risk-taking or unreliable personalities One key backstory element becomes your Sanity anchor, helping characters recover from mental trauma. Quick & Dirty Character Creation Ash closes the episode with a streamlined alternative: Assign preset stat values Pick talents Select skills from fixed arrays Roll backstory details Start playing immediately Perfect for one-shots, convention play, or groups eager to punch cultists now, not in two hours. Key Takeaways Pulp Cthulhu character creation is fast, flexible, and cinematic Archetypes replace classes with strong narrative identity High Pulp characters start powerful and stay relevant Talents are the heart of customization Skill points are plentiful—breadth is rewarded Structured backstory tools create instant roleplay hooks The Quick & Dirty method gets you playing in minutes Yes, you can accidentally build a psychic himbo—and that's a feature Welcome to the RPGBOT Podcast. Coke Anderson has had one of the most storied careers of anyone in the egg business. She started with a 30,000-bird flock, which would eventually grow into M&C Anderson pullets, a 1700-acre farm that rears nearly 5 million pullets annually. She would also become the first woman to lead the American Egg Board, and helped the organization navigate through some turbulent times. Today, Coke joins us in person for the inaugural interview in our new Eggheads studio. We get into her incredible story, her unique approach to leadership, and her thoughts on some of the biggest issues facing egg producers today. We also get into what makes her feel nervous and hopeful for the future of the industry.

This week on the Normal Nerds Podcast, Maxwell and Davis deliver a loaded Weekly Anime Recap. They kick things off with My Hero Academia Season 8, Episode 9, talking Deku's questionable haircut, Bakugo refusing to rest, and the Todoroki family's heavy, emotional wrap-up—plus why Endeavor's redemption hits harder than the fandom gives him credit for.Next, the boys rave about Spy x Family Season 3, Episode 9 with Double Starlight Anya, Damien sprinting to her rescue, Becky's chaos, Melinda's unhinged emotional whiplash, and Anya's ego skyrocketing into villain-cape territory. Then they tear into One Punch Man Season 3, Episode 8—a rare episode with decent animation that STILL can't save the season. Flashy Flash's fight pops off, Kid Emperor is actually interesting, but the stiff faces and still frames keep dragging the whole show down. From there, it's pure hype with Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider Episode 9. Tojima lands the punch heard 'round the world, Rider Man goes feral, V3 gives respect where it's due, and the show continues to be one of the season's biggest surprises. They follow it up with the comfy, consistently fun May I Ask You One Last Thing? Episode 10, featuring Scarlet punching monsters into paste, Julius shutting down betrayals instantly, dragon-guy simps going wild, and a war brewing in the background. Then they officially consider dropping SANDA Episode 9, after another episode that leans way too hard into the bizarre. With the series' tone spiraling and its creative lineage showing, they debate if it's even worth continuing. After the main block, they jump into two big highlights of the week:Gachiakuta Episode 21 delivers insane action as Bundus takes on multiple Cleaners at once, Rudo evolves his 3R into a railgun-level weapon, Zodyl reveals his real plan, and Noerde's terrifying return sets up massive consequences. One Piece Episode 1151 goes OFF: Gear 5 Luffy returns, Bonney awakens a Nika-style form of her own, and the Iron Giant finally steps in—setting the stage for one of Egghead's most explosive episodes yet.If you're into big analysis, big fights, and big laughs, this is one of the most packed recaps the guys have ever done.Support the show

'In-ovo' sexing, or determining the sex of an egg before it hatches, has long been seen as a potential solution to the problem of male chick culling at hatcheries. Methods of in-ovo sexing have historically been invasive and difficult to apply at scale, but today we're spotlighting a company with some revolutionary tech that could change that. Jennifer Volz is the Head of Global Business Development at Orbem, a Germany-based company using MRI technology and AI algorithms to make mass in-ovo sexing achievable for only a few cents per egg. Orbem's tech is already in use at several hatcheries in Europe, and Greg caught up with Jennifer at their Houston office, where they're quarterbacking the company's expansion into the US. Jennifer delves into the scale of the male chick culling issue, how Orbem's tech aims to solve it, and why their success could have implications that extend far beyond the egg industry.

So what happens to that stream of waste egg products that still have nutritional value, but are deemed to be unfit for human consumption? Ingmar Middelbos is the Global R&D Director for Animal Nutrition at Symrise Pet Food. Hello: Autumn, 1949. Fortune editor Bill Furth, flinty-eyed gatekeeper, scans a manuscript from 30-year-old whiz kid Daniel Bell. Spots the word “charisma.” Snorts. Blue pencil meets page. Word dies swiftly, without much appeal. Fast forward ten years: charisma is everywhere. Eggheads bandy it, pundits quote it, preachers peddle it. Bell—vindicated. Since the 1950s, Americans have grown used to the word “charisma” being applied to everyone, often as a synonym for “charm”.. But what if charisma is more than charm or personal magnetism—what if it's a key to understanding the moral and spiritual crises of American life itself? That's the argument of Spellbound: How Charisma Shaped American History from the Puritans to Donald Trump, a sweeping new book by my guest historian Molly Worthen. In it, she traces the tangled story of charisma across four centuries of American history—from the Puritans through Andrew Jackson, to Malcolm X and Donald Trump.Charismatic leaders, Worthen argues, don't simply stir emotions or win votes. They offer something deeper: a sense of cosmic meaning, spiritual clarity, and moral urgency in moments when traditional institutions seem hollow or adrift. In times of upheaval, we look for figures who promise to reveal hidden truths and restore a broken order. Molly Worthen is a scholar of American religious and intellectual history. She is Professor of History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and writes regularly on religion and politics for the New York Times and other national outlets. Spellbound is her third book; she has previously authored Apostles of Reason: The Crisis of Authority in American Evangelicalism and The Man on Whom Nothing Was Lost, a biography of the diplomat, Yale professor, and  Bridgeton, NJ native Charles Hill. (That last for my five listeners in South Jersey.)
