Gretchen Whitmer signed the law making it illegal to use a hand-held electronic device while driving. His analysis includes data on distracted driving in Michigan broken down by county. His firm is reporting updated numbers that show meaningful strides in the right direction. McMahon also cites preliminary data showing a reduction in crashes in Michigan in 2024.
Democrats refused to stand for a boy recovering from brain cancer, a law enforcement officer who saved the life of his partner and a mom who fought to save her child. If you can't stand for human triumph, what can you stand for? The answer is nothing but hate. Democrat lawmakers in Washington showed their true childlike behavior last night during President Trump's joint address to Congress and it backfired. Trump Derangement Syndrome is not a workable political philosophy. If you are a member of the Democrat party you should be embarrassed and ashamed of your party's leadership. Their disrespectful behavior during the President's speech only served as a spotlight to just how awful Democrats can be. They are losing support as everyday Americans realize putting America first and respecting the rights of individuals is a far better plan for our nation's success than just hating Trump. Afternoon all,I've gone solo again as I enjoyed it so much last week and Jai is still going through it. He'll be back next week.Points I covered here:* Planned protest - Made a mockery and laughing stock of Chelsea fans. Needs to be done in unison, needs some proper organisation across some polls, needs even like an independent fan board to head and organise it the right way with pro graphics etc. Does not need Racism, Xenophobia, fans bickering over the real reasons for the protests, and needs context and reason as to why it's happening. The word ‘American' or ‘Yanks' should not feature in ANY promo material for it or by anyone protesting.* Going through the latest fan Polls on owners/SDs* Can SDs/Club turn things around? * New info, SDs are under some pressure after January window weakened the squad.* Viktor Gyokeres and Marc Guehi linked - is it briefings to calm fans down or are they genuine? Gyokeres 27 in June, Guehi 25 in July. Right step forward?* Villa vs Chelsea 5.30pm Saturday - Villa could go one point behind us. Looked good against Liverpool. Thanks for stopping by!Peace, Si. Reach out to Cody and Buhler to tell them what's up!It will be a battle for the ages, alright. With so many changes happening at Ohio State this offseason, Ryan Day says there will be a quarterback brewing between Julian Sayin, Lincoln Kienholz and freshman Tavien St. Clair. While John Buhler (Lead Writer, FanSided.com) and Cody Williams (Content Director, FanSided.com) believe there is some merit to this, they both agree we may have a two-man race after the spring game. The guys then shared their way-too-early national championship contenders for next season. As the pressure mounts for Lincoln Riley at USC, who could have seen Urban Meyer actually picking a team like Texas over Ohio State for next season?False Start was most presidential on the most presidential of Presidents' Days.
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Chris Ostrander (Two in the Box) to discuss the respective general managers of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, Brandon Beane and Kevyn Adams finding themselves with the pressure cranked up to get things done in the coming weeks for varying reasons. It doesn't take a genius general manager or any sort of football guy to watch the Super Bowl and realize the true formula for success against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs is to create pressure with a four man rush with a dominant defensive line. Sure, the Bills have been within a field goal of the Chiefs in the past two playoffs but have fallen short for a handful of reasons, none so more than their inability to get defensive stops and pressure on Mahomes. The guys talk about several options out there in the coming weeks for Beane and the Bills and the intense pressure he's probably feeling to take a big swing at edge and/or interior defensive line, whether it's via trade or prominent free agent(s). As for the Sabres, they're cellar dwelling 54 games into the season as the league shuts down for two weeks for the 4 Nations Face Off. Chris has several thoughts on what Adams can and should do during this time to try and make a big move to help his team, assuming of course he remains on as general manager. If he does the NHL trade deadline is March 7th and you have to assume he'll do at least something. Chris discusses several possibilities in addition to what could happen with pending unrestricted free agents like Jason Zucker and Jordan Greenway as well as a handful of restricted free agents pending, including Ryan McLeod, JJ Peterka and Bowen Bryam. Be sure to follow Chris on X at @2ITB_Buffalo and check out the Two in the Box blog in addition to the Instigator Podcast. Edition No90 | 04-02-2025 - Under the guise of bringing efficiency and transparency to governance in the US is a coup under way? An administrative takeover, a crypto coup by the leading luminary of the tech brotherhood, Elon Musk? A nihilistic revolution eviscerating US government institutions. Some are starting to see patterns that indicate a hijack of the Federal Government is in progress and being conducted virtually unchallenged. You perhaps thought that Trump 1, after 2016 was chaotic, then buckle up, because 2025 will be far wilder and stranger. ---------- We ran two events in Ukraine in the last two weeks. Lviv (part 2) and Kyiv. The event we ran in August 2023 was a huge success, and had a great impact. Now our aim is even more ambitious. Two cities. Two events. Multiple panels consisting of the best experts, and all filmed in high definition for the channel. https://buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtain/extras But it costs. Last time the overall cost was £3,500 for Live in Lviv, and we covered 80% of this through ticket sales. This time the costs are higher, and there's less opportunity to sell tickets at the available venues and studios, so I'm creating a campaign to raise £5,000 to make this trip a reality. We also have a much more ambitious programme to film interviews around Kyiv and Lviv for the channel. This project will have an impact, so please help if you can. https://buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtain/extras ---------- The newly created “Department of Government Efficiency” under Elon Musk, is increasingly starting to look like an Orwellian choice of names. For efficiency, read demolition of the basic functions of government, and a paralysis in the process of governance. Barely has the inauguration passed and attempts to decimate the federal civil service are well in hand. But the consequences are being felt on a global scale, as we just saw with the suspension of USAID that will affect many hundreds of millions of people outside of the US. ---------- SILICON CURTAIN FILM FUNDRAISER A project to make a documentary film in Ukraine, to raise awareness of Ukraine's struggle and in supporting a team running aid convoys to Ukraine's front-line towns. https://buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtain/extras ---------- NEWS SOURCES: https://substack.com/home/post/p-156341494 https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/feb/02/elon-musk-doge-access-federal-payment-system https://news.sky.com/story/senior-usaid-pair-suspended-after-refusing-elon-musks-doge-staff-access-to-secure-systems-13302165 https://edition.cnn.com/2025/02/02/politics/usaid-officials-leave-musk-doge/index.html https://www.forbes.com/sites/digital-assets/2025/02/02/this-needs-to-stop-now-elon-musk-confirms-radical-doge-us-treasury-plan/ https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/jan/18/tech-bros-trump-inauguration-silicon-valley-nation-state https://news.sky.com/story/senior-usaid-pair-suspended-after-refusing-elon-musks-doge-staff-access-to-secure-systems-13302165 https://www.businessinsider.com/union-groups-sue-accuse-treasury-giving-doge-access-data-2025-2 ---------- SUPPORT THE CHANNEL: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtain https://www.patreon.com/siliconcurtain ---------- TRUSTED CHARITIES ON THE GROUND: Save Ukraine https://www.saveukraineua.org/ Superhumans - Hospital for war traumas https://superhumans.com/en/ UNBROKEN - Treatment. Bryan Kohberger's defense team is mounting a fierce legal challenge to suppress critical evidence, arguing that police violated his constitutional rights in the Idaho murders case that shocked the nation. Kohberger is accused of killing four University of Idaho students: Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, and Ethan Chapin, in their off-campus home. As the case progresses toward trial, new defense arguments are adding significant complications. The defense, led by attorney Anne Taylor, has filed over 160 pages of evidence suppression motions. These documents outline their stance that law enforcement overstepped legal boundaries when arresting Kohberger at his family's home in Pennsylvania. According to the filings, officers broke down the front door, shattered a sliding glass door in the basement, and held the entire Kohberger family at gunpoint during the raid. They argue that Kohberger, who was zip-tied and surrounded by officers, made statements without being read his Miranda rights. The defense is adamant that these statements should be excluded from evidence. They claim the high-stress situation and failure to Mirandize Kohberger at the time make any comments he made inadmissible. This argument is just the tip of the iceberg, though, as the defense takes aim at the heart of the prosecution's case: DNA evidence. Investigative genetic genealogy (IGG), a forensic tool that has solved numerous cold cases, is now facing its own trial within the courtroom. The defense claims that the DNA linking Kohberger to the crime scene—a match found on the button snap of a knife sheath—was obtained through unconstitutional means. Taylor contends that police gathered Kohberger's genetic information illegally, arguing, “When law enforcement uses that positive match and then says, well, we need to go and get a search warrant because we have a positive match for Bryan Kohberger, that the DNA evidence is tainted and anything comes from it is fruit from a poisonous tree.” Without that DNA, the defense argues, the prosecution would have had no basis for additional warrants. They point to search warrants executed for Kohberger's white Hyundai Elantra, his Apple and Amazon accounts, and his phone records as evidence that should be suppressed due to lack of probable cause. If the judge agrees, the case could see substantial pieces of evidence removed, dramatically altering the prosecution's strategy. The crux of the defense's argument hinges on privacy and the Fourth Amendment, which guards against unreasonable searches and seizures. Investigative genetic genealogy involves tracing familial DNA connections through public databases, a method that has revolutionized crime-solving but now faces backlash over potential privacy violations. The defense contends that without IGG, Kohberger's identity as a suspect would never have surfaced, making the technique central to their challenge. Prosecutors, however, stand firm in their assertion that the DNA evidence is sound. They argue that the cheek swab obtained from Kohberger directly connects him to the crime scene and should be considered pivotal. The prosecution views this as a necessary step in the pursuit of justice for the victims. The DNA found on the knife sheath, which was left at the scene, is a critical piece of evidence tying Kohberger to the brutal murders. As both sides prepare for upcoming court battles, the case has become a focal point for larger questions surrounding modern forensic science and privacy. The defense's strategy not only seeks to discredit the evidence but also calls into question the ethics and legality of using DNA data in active investigations. The families of Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, and Ethan Chapin continue to grieve, and their quest for justice is an ever-present backdrop to the legal drama. With the trial set for next summer, the courtroom will soon become a stage for a showdown between constitutional rights and technological advancements in law enforcement. The judge's rulings on these suppression motions could set new legal precedents, redefining how evidence is gathered and used in the future. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
