Have you ever worked relentlessly toward a goal (a vision or a dream you once felt absolutely certain about) and suddenly it stops flowing? You're still trying. You're still showing up. But no matter how hard you push, it's not progressing the way it used to? You’re wondering: Does this mean I am ungrateful for wanting more? Am I self-sabotaging? Have I lost my magic touch? Is my manifestation ability broken? Or worse… am I about to ruin my life by walking away from something I fought so hard to build? I am seeing this collective theme everywhere right now… in my private practice, in conversations with friends, and inside my own life. What if this isn't failure at all? What if you are so greatly loved that you are being redirected to a version of your life or purpose that is better than you imagined? In this episode, I'm breaking down the shift from what I call Stage One manifestation (ego-based) to Stage Two manifestation (soul-aligned) through the lens of Numerology and your Life Path number. Did you know that very Life Path (1 through 9, including master numbers 11, 22, and 33) has its own evolutionary arc? There is what you were taught to chase… and there is what your soul is actually here to embody. If you feel like nothing is working the way it used to, if you can't manifest the way you once could, if you're trying harder but things keep collapsing, or if you secretly know something in your life is over… this episode will help you understand why. You didn't lose your magic. You’re mining for an elevated version of it. And your Life Path number may be revealing exactly where it went. The brain's "skull drains" are far from passive plumbing. In Nature (2026), Monaghan et al. show that dural venous sinuses actively constrict, dilate, and even rearrange endothelial borders in a phenomenon called "ruffling" to support immune surveillance. RAMP1 regulates vasomotion. RAMP2 regulates immune boundary dynamics. Blocking RAMP2 impairs antiviral defense. The meninges are not coverings. They are regulated neuroimmune interfaces.

Youth ministry is one of the most rewarding callings — and one of the most exhausting. In this devotional episode of Youth Worker on Fire, Doug Edwards speaks directly to youth pastors, volunteers, educators, and parents who feel spiritually drained from constantly pouring into others. Drawing from Isaiah 40:28, the writings of Oswald Chambers, and the life of Olympic runner and missionary Eric Liddell, this episode explores the difference between burnout and faithful service — and how God becomes the source of strength when our own energy is gone. You'll discover: • Why spiritual exhaustion often comes from serving, not failing • How ministry leaders unintentionally run on empty • The danger of trying to serve students from your own strength • What it means that God never grows weary • Why joy — not just endurance — is part of faithful service • How daily time with God restores emotional and spiritual energy • Encouragement for leaders who feel like quitting Whether you lead students every week, volunteer occasionally, teach, parent teenagers, or simply care deeply for the next generation, this episode is a reminder: God didn't call you to survive ministry — He called you to draw from Him while doing it. ✨ Your strength may run out, but His never does. _________________________________________________________________________________

With one tap, one swipe, or one click, you can buy almost anything instantly. Although convenience feels normal, it's quietly changing how we relate to money. In this episode, I name something I see behind so much overspending, debt, and stalled savings. It's something I call frictionless spending, there's seldom a pause when we spend anymore because of how our money systems have become more convenient.Join in as I walk you through what frictionless spending actually is, how it fuels spending shame, and why so many people feel confused about where their money went even when they never considered themselves overspenders. I talk about how tools like credit cards, digital wallets, one-click ordering, and buy-now-pay-later remove the natural speed bumps that once provided us with spending pauses. In this episode, you'll learn how to add intentional friction back into your spending so you can slow down, stay aware, and keep more money in your account. If you've ever felt frustrated by spending that seems to happen on autopilot, this episode will help you see what's really going on and how to interrupt the cycle without shame.Episode Highlights:[03:10] What frictionless spending actually means[06:55] How spending shame forms after the purchase[10:40] Why modern money tools remove natural pauses[14:25] The connection between frictionless spending and debt cycles[18:50] Why adding friction is not the same as restriction[22:30] Simple ways to slow spending without depriving yourself[27:10] How friction helps you save, pay off debt, and invest fasterTune into this episode of Money Files to learn how frictionless spending quietly drains your money, fuels shame, and how adding simple pauses can help you stay in control and build trust with yourself around money.Get full show notes and the episode transcript: https://wealthovernow.com/how-frictionless-spending-quietly-drains-your-bank-account/Links mentioned in this episode…Set up a call | Financial Coach Washington, DC | Wealth Over NowDownload my FREE spending planMini Series On The Four Reasons That You Are Stuck With Your FinancesJoin me Wednesday, February 25 at 12:00 PM ET to learn how to budget for the last time
Divorce doesn't just break your heart — it can shatter your mental health in ways you never saw coming. You tell yourself you'll feel better once the papers are filed, once he moves out, once the court date passes. But the truth is, healing doesn't work on a timeline. Grief hits you in the strangest moments — standing in an unfamiliar grocery store, driving 40 minutes to your kids' activities, watching your whole routine dissolve. The losses can be huge. You lose the relationship, the home, the neighborhood, the friend group, the church. Your kids ask questions you can't answer. Your attorney bills you for every email. Your ex hires a shark who treats you like a criminal. It all crashes down at once.If you're a woman with a vision, your instinct is to power through. You've handled everything else — why not this? But divorce can crack open old wounds you thought you buried. It can trigger childhood trauma, collapse your nervous system, and push you into survival mode — especially when you're also juggling midlife, hormonal shifts, teenagers, or aging parents. This is not the time to be superwoman. This is the time to build your support team. Find a therapist who champions you. Hire a coach who's walked this road. Ditch anyone who plays devil's advocate with your pain.Seeing your real needs during this time can make all the difference.Ready to stop surviving and start building your extraordinary life? Today, we are talking about if something is a tap or a drain. If something is a tap, it moves us forward or gives us energy. Drains limit our motivation or make us feel lower or empty. We can remind ourselves of what motivates us or what keeps us struck in unhelpful patterns. #tapordrain #motivation #movingforward #skillbuilding

Not everything that moves you forward is meant to drain you.As part of the Permission Series, Bobbi Brinkman invites listeners to shift their focus from what exhausts them to what actually sustains them.In this episode, Bobbi explores the difference between building from depletion and building from fuel and why energy awareness is one of the most overlooked elements of sustainable growth.Rather than encouraging listeners to eliminate everything that feels hard, this conversation offers a more grounded reframe: clarity and momentum are often created by strengthening what fuels you, not obsessing over what drains you. This episode is a reminder that growth doesn't have to feel heavy to be meaningful, and that honoring your energy is not a luxury but a leadership skill. If you've been feeling tired, scattered, or stretched thin, this conversation offers permission to pause and reconsider what's truly supporting you.Let's keep the FABBO convo going, send me a text!Support the showThank you for being a FABBO listener and supporting the Be Fabbo Podcast
This week on The Hoodrat Recap, we wade deeper into the muck
Sometimes a bit of wisdom drops in when we least expect it. That happened recently as I was reading an article about American football player Travis Kelce. A frustrated coach once told him, “Everybody you meet in this world is either a fountain or a drain.” You can probably figure out which one Kelce was being! Perhaps all of us have a bit of both elements in us. But at any given moment, we’re likely behaving one way or the other. And our call to follow Jesus means becoming more fountain, less drain. I hear a similar idea in Philippians 2, where Paul challenges us to imitate Jesus’ humility and focus on others. Paul contrasts what drains life from others with what fills them up: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others” (vv. 3-4). A bit later in this chapter, he adds bluntly, “Do everything without grumbling or arguing” (v. 14). What does it look like to be a drain? Being self-focused and arrogant; complaining and arguing. And being a fountain? Paul says of Timothy, “I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare” (v. 20). Are we being more like a fountain or a drain? That’s a question worth pondering as we seek to bless others.

We're so busy watching everyone else—scrolling feeds, comparing ourselves to other leaders, checking what the competition is doing—that we've become incredibly others-aware and dangerously self-unaware. Self-awareness isn't a buzzword. It's the difference between walking into a meeting grounded or bringing your frustration, anxiety, and chaos with you—and watching it cascade to everyone around you. Here's the truth: as goes the leader, so goes the team. Your mood changes rooms. Your anxiety creates anxiety. Your groundedness brings clarity. In this episode, we're diving into the third sphere of leadership that most people ignore: how your emotions, your wiring, and your weaknesses are impacting the people you lead. Whether you realize it or not. Since Daniel Goleman published his work on emotional intelligence, self-awareness has been everywhere. It's in every leadership book, every conference, every corporate training. But here's the irony: we're at an all-time high for talking about self-awareness and an all-time low for actually practicing it. Why? Because we're too busy being others-aware. Always looking at what everyone else is doing. Always comparing. Always feeling behind. This episode cuts through the noise and gives you three practical aspects of self-awareness that will change how you lead: What You'll Learn: Why being "others-aware" is making you dangerously self-unaware—and how to fix it Social contagion: the psychological reality that your mood spreads to your team whether you want it to or not The space between stimulus and response—and why mastering this one thing prevents unnecessary blowups How to identify your emotional triggers before they derail your day (and a real story of how this saved a family evening) Why context determines the course: how your energy and encouragement levels shape every conversation Your assets vs. your liabilities: understanding what work energizes you and what work drains you Patrick Lencioni's Working Genius framework and why it's a game-changer for understanding your wiring The six types: geniuses, frustrations, and competencies—and how to identify yours Why it's not the amount of work burning you out, it's the type of work (and what to do about it) Drains and fills: how to design your days around what gives you energy Why some leaders love conferences and others absolutely hate them (it's all about wiring) How to build a team that complements your strengths and covers your weaknesses Key Insight: Most leaders think they're burned out because they're doing too much work. The reality? You're doing the wrong type of work for your wiring. If you spent eight hours a day doing spreadsheets when you're wired for ideation, you'd be burned out in weeks. If you're wired for details and you're forced to brainstorm all day, same result. Self-awareness means knowing your drains and your fills—and designing your role around both. The Three Aspects of Self-Awareness: Emotions - How my emotions impact others Assets - What energizes and fulfills me (my wiring, my geniuses) Liabilities - What drains me (my frustrations, my weaknesses) Reflection Questions: What is one situation that brings you emotions that are unhealthy or unfair to the people around you? What are a few assets or parts of your wiring that you need to be utilizing more in your role? What are some liabilities you need to name to your team—and how can you do less of those things? A self-aware leader can serve others well with full awareness of who they are and who they're not. This is identity work. You cannot be all things. You are not good at all things. And you cannot compare off somebody else's paper and expect to lead like them. Resources Mentioned: Patrick Lencioni - The Six Types of Working Genius (book and assessment available at workinggenius.com) Right Side Up Journal - Coaching companion tool (available on Amazon) Daniel Goleman - Work on emotional intelligence Want to go deeper? Send us a textHello you beautiful souls! In this episode, I explored the idea that everything in our lives is either giving us energy or taking it away—physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. The 7 deadly sins can be understood not as moral failures, but as energetic leaks—patterns that pull us away from our light, our vitality, and our presence. The 7 heavenly virtues, on the other hand, are energetic restorers—states of being that nourish us, expand us, and bring us back into alignment.Heaven and Hell are here on Earth, and the choices we make everyday dictate if our reality is in Heaven or Hell. Do you support yourself and your energy, or do you give your energy, your light away? All my love, Hannah xoxo Support the showThank you for listening. In this week's episode, like Icarus, both our storytellers fly a little too close to the sun—and learn the hard way that confidence doesn't always equal competence.Part 1: As a kid, JR Denson is determined to master the art of homemade french fries—but then his kitchen experiment goes up in flames. Part 2: Faced with a looming Science Olympiad deadline, Adam Ruben is sure his last-minute “clock” made from a bag of water will do the trick.JR Denson --a Washington, DC native-- is a full-time college educator and a part time emergency medical technician (EMT). He has become increasingly involved in the DMV's storytelling scene ever since accidentally falling into right before the pandemic. JR has performed for both local and national storytelling organizations such as The Perfect Liar's Club, the Stone Soup Storytelling Festival, and NPR's The Moth. Adam Ruben is a writer, comedian, and molecular biologist in Washington, DC. He writes the monthly humor column “Experimental Error” in the AAAS journal Science Careers and is the author of two books: Surviving Your Stupid, Stupid Decision to Go to Grad School, and Pinball Wizards: Jackpots, Drains, and the Cult of the Silver Ball. He has appeared on the Science Channel, the Food Network, the History Channel, the Travel Channel, the Weather Channel, Discovery, Netflix, and NPR and is a writer for the preschool cartoon “Elinor Wonders Why” on PBS Kids. Adam has performed on stage in 34 states and six countries, including two solo shows. He has told stories onstage with Story Collider, Story District, and Story League, and is a five-time Moth Story Slam Champion and a Lead Producer for the DC/Baltimore chapter of Mortified. He has three kids, two cats, and a day job as a molecular biologist for the US federal government that feels less secure every day.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
"Thank you for tuning in to the very last episode of The Making of Podcast 2025. I can't believe we're here! We are doing a rewind this week, going back to Episode 2 with Dr. Ashley Joves and Michael Arias. There has been so much going on behind the scenes. From Dr. Toni Torres' daughter's 5th birthday to Ashley and Brian's anniversary. It was also my birthday yesterday! I've been hosting eight Australians in my house for the last week (my husband's family from down under), so life has been crazy.I've been thinking a lot about our talk last week regarding finding your 'Why.' For me, I like to set 2026 intentions. I like to audit what happened in 2025—identifying what filled my cup and what drained me—so I can minimize the noise and prioritize what matters. I want to build a life I don't necessarily need a vacation from. We're entrepreneurs; we grind. But I hope you find joy in that grind by setting boundaries. I also believe in finding tangible ways to reach your goals. Years ago, I wanted to get healthy for my kids, so I invested in a Peloton. That one small step—removing the friction of going to a gym—launched me into becoming healthier.Surround yourself at tables with people doing the things you want to do. This community is a huge pool of those people for me. Don't let the negativity in; look for the people who fill your cup."The 2026 Tangible: Identify the Drains vs. Fills: What pulled you away from your mission in 2025? What gave you energy?Remove Friction: What is your 'Peloton'? Find the one tool or change that makes your goal easier to start.Audit Your Table: Surround yourself with builders and cut out the negativity.Intentional Priority: Prioritize your mental health over the 'day-to-day BS.'Highlights from this Episode:Networking: Connecting with the Folsom Chamber of Commerce to build community roots. The Build: Moving through trenching, framing, and the vision for frosted glass walls. The Reality Check: An impromptu call from Ashley's contractor, Dave, as they navigate on-site hurdles. The Cost of Design: Managing the expensive reality of hiding wires and piping in a high-design space.Construction Errors: Dealing with the frustration of incorrect wall placements and late-stage changes.Budget Hacks: Creative solutions, including using IKEA cabinets for the build-out.Coming in 2026...Next week, we kick off the year with a brand-new episode featuring Dr. Toni Torres of Bloom Dental Co. We're going deep into her lease and the tiny details of her 'Day One.' Happy New Year—let's get after it!Find Out More Thank you for listening to The Making Of podcast. “It is real simple. If you want to be a good teammate and if you want people to like you, you MUST be a fountain. Your team does not need drains. Drains only clog thing up.”
Jonathan Kipnis is a neuroscientist, the Alan A. and Edith L. Wolff Distinguished Professor of Pathology and Immunology at Washington University, St. Louis, who discovered meningeal lymphatics and has been a prolific researcher in brain drainage and the continuous immune system surveillance of the brain.I made this infographic with the help of Notebook LM to summarize many of the concepts we discussed. (Notebook LM is free and worth trying)We went over his new review with 24 co-author leading experts in the recent issue of NeuronA Clever Cover The drainage system anatomy on influx and efflux (blue arrows)The 3 ways the flow of glymphatics are modulated. I mentioned the recent studies that show atrial fibrillation, via reduced cardiac pulsation, has an effect on reducing glymphatic flow. We also discussed his recent review on the immune surveillance system in Cell:A schematic of key channels for the “faucet” and “drain” and how the system changes from healthy to central nervous system autoimmune diseases (such as multiple sclerosis) and aging with different immune bar codes. The outsized role of astrocytes in the brain, a subject of recent Nature feature, was also mentioned. Our understanding of the brain's immune system has been completely revamped. Kipnis's recent review in Nature Immunology highlights the critical role of the outer layers —the skull, dura and meninges—as an immune reservoir that is ready to detect and react abnormalities in the brain with a continuous “intelligence report.”Notably, Kipnis touched on lymphatic-venous anastomosis (LVA) surgery (Figure below) for Alzheimer's disease which is popular in China, available at 30 centers in multiple cities, and the subject of multiple randomized trials as a treatment for Alzheimer's. Trials of LVA surgery are also getting started in the United States for treatment of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Here is a Figure to show the surgical anastomoses (connections) from the deep cervical lymphatics to external jugular and internal jugular veinsThis podcast was packed with insights relevant to health, spanning sleep quality, sleep medications, autoimmune diseases, and Alzheimer's disease. I hope you find it as informative and engaging as I did.A Poll************************************This is my 4-year anniversary of writing Ground Truths. Post number 250! If your calendar feels heavier than your heart, this conversation offers a reset. We look at why overcommitment creeps in—identity pressure, fear of disappointing others, and the comparison vortex—and how that constant motion drains joy, money, and connection. Rather than sprinting from event to event, we lay out a practical way to design a season that actually feels like you: more presence, less performance. We start by naming the hidden costs of the “holiday hustle,” from tension at home to shallow, distracted moments that blur into forgettable photos. Then we pivot to what works: clarifying who brings life, which traditions nourish your soul, and where you can create small, memorable moments—the kind kids recall years later for their warmth, not their perfection. You'll hear a simple keep–release–simplify framework to audit your calendar, plus candid examples like skipping obligatory parties, scaling down decor, and setting a gift plan that respects your budget and bandwidth.Energy management sits at the center of this approach. We share practical tools for navigating hard gatherings, including quick visualization rehearsals that lower anxiety, and pairing draining events with small lifts like movement, sunlight, or lunch with a friend who grounds you. The aim isn't to do more—it's to do what matters, better. By protecting margin and building anchor gatherings, you design a holiday you want to inhabit instead of endure. If you're ready to trade motion for meaning and let traditions serve your family—not own it—press play, take a breath, and start fresh. If this resonates, subscribe, share with a friend who needs it, and leave a review with one tradition you're releasing this year.

In this episode, we dive into the silent killer of e-commerce team productivity: using personal chat apps for work. Guy Weiss, CEO and founder of ZenZap, shares how relying on apps like WhatsApp can quietly harm your business through security risks, employee burnout, and lost data. He reveals the "hidden cost" of the "always on" culture and explains how a business-focused messenger can keep your company's secrets safe, integrate with your tools, and make your team highly productive.Topics discussed in this episode: Why personal chat apps break work. The hidden cost of "always on" culture. Why personal apps ruin work/life separation. How your business IP is lost on employee phones. Why unstructured group chats cause missed orders. Why staff privacy matters as a business grows. How ZenZap solves complex communication. In today's episode, I break down how I manage my energy, prioritize my nonnegotiables, and keep my life aligned with my divine direction. I share the role sleep, recovery, and intentional routines play in keeping me active instead of merely busy, and why interference drains more potential than any lack of talent. I walk through the lessons I learned from losing everything, the moments when loved ones gave well-meaning but limiting advice, and how defining “for the sake of what” reshaped my purpose. I also explain how timing, risk tolerance, and capabilities determine growth, whether you're building a small business or scaling toward bigger goals.

Ask Me How I Know: Multifamily Investor Stories of Struggle to Success
Burnout isn't about capacity — it's about identity. High performers often repeat draining patterns because the nervous system protects who we had to be to feel safe. In this episode, learn how to gently shift the story from survival to alignment. Why do we keep choosing what exhausts us, even when we know better? For many high-capacity humans, burnout isn't caused by effort — it's caused by identity memory: the early story you learned about who you had to be to stay safe, chosen, or loved. When strength, competence, or reliability became part of your survival strategy, your nervous system continues to protect that identity long after your circumstances have changed. This episode explores how identity-patterns form beneath conscious awareness, and why the nervous system clings to the familiar — even when it costs us peace, joy, and a sense of self. We shift from shame to understanding, from exhaustion to compassion, and from confusion to clarity. We look to Maya Lin, who was publicly defined before she ever had the chance to define herself. Her journey of reclaiming her own meaning reveals a powerful truth:Your story did not begin with you. But it can be rewritten by you.And this rewriting doesn't happen through willpower or reinvention. It happens through Identity-Level Recalibration — the root-level work of returning to who you were before performance became protection. This is not another mindset tactic or productivity strategy. This is the recalibration that makes every other tool effective.Micro Recalibration (Today)When you feel the familiar pull to perform, prove, or carry, pause. Place your hand over your ribs or sternum and say:“I am safe becoming who I am now.”Not a correction. A permission.Team / Leadership ExtensionIn your next conversation or planning meeting, ask:“Are we choosing this because it's familiar — or because it's aligned?”Clarity begins here.If this episode gave you language you've been missing, please rate and review the show so more high-capacity humans can find it.
