Mangroves are vital for coastal resilience, marine life breeding, and carbon sequestration. Despite the undeniable worth of such trees, they are rapidly dwindling in many areas around the world. Hank Dearden is actively spearheading reforestation projects through ForestPlanet to solve this alarming problem – at an average cost of just 15 cents per tree. Joining Corinna Bellizzi, he explains how they forge global partnerships and initiate fundraising campaigns to lead mangrove restorations worldwide, particularly in coastal communities and fishing villages. It was the kind of victory that can imbue a new generation with Queensland folklore. Queensland has claimed a win that will be re-visited as long as Origin is played. A legend out of retirement. A coach under fire. A star rising. A journeyman on debut. A captain engulfed with emotion. It was all the famous storylines combined. From a NSW perspective, the defeat raised familiar questions about long standing cast members. The answers seem more definitive and that's not a good thing. Brisbane made it 4 straight wins in the NRL in dramatic fashion to kick off round 18 fighting back from 18-0 down to win 22-18. This is right after 4 straight losses piled the pressure on coach Michael Maguire (25:16) But in response to being asked what he's done differently all Madge told Andrew Moore and the team was "Welcome to Coaching!". However he did say he's welcome the return of Ezra Mam and still has more quality players to inject into his side. Also on Saturday NRL Luke Lewis and Billy Moore go head to head to discuss Origin 3 (2.46:04). You can also check in on the NSW Origin camp with Hudson Young (1.20:34) who explained that the Blues are getting even closer as a group on and off the field. From the Queensland camp Tom Dearden (1.36:58) explained what it like to prepare for a match when the series is on the line. And as part of the series looking back over the decades in Origin - Noel Cleal (2:15:59) joins Andrew to discuss the 1985 Blues win. You can also get all the latest Rugby League News - and speculation - in MC's Hammertime (46:48)
You don't get a bigger breakout opportunity than a show like The Pitt. Taylor Dearden's already made a big impression in the gone-too-soon MTV series Sweet/Vicious and the second season of American Vandal, but The Pitt just sent her star soaring in a wholly different way.The Pitt is undeniably (and deservedly) one of the most celebrated new shows of the year and Dearden's performance has proven to be an especially big standout among an ensemble full of aces. She plays Dr. Mel King, a second-year resident about to begin her very first day at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital's emergency room, aka, The Pitt. While there are nerves at the start of the shift, Mel's an extremely skilled doctor who excels under pressure and also has the emotional capacity to connect with patients in ways others can't.With the show on the cusp of what could be an extremely successful Emmy season, Dearden carved out some time on a day off from filming Season 2 to swing by the Collider Ladies Night studio and run through her experience playing Mel and adapting to The Pitt's one-of-a-kind filming schedule. We also took the time to zero in on a few key scenes from Season 1, one of which has become an especially beloved fan-favorite — the “Savage” scene. Hosted on Acast. Lez previews Round 8 Saturday
With the first game of State of Origin five weeks away, team selections are already a hot topic. With Reece Walsh's injury, Kalyn Ponga is expected to take the fullback position, but now the spotlight turns to Tom Dearden and Daly Cherry-Evans. Jonathan Thurston told Jason Matthews on Wide World of Sports, "If Munster and DCE are fit, then I expect Tommy Dearden to be...he could be on the bench, he could certainly be 18th man as well." "Our strongest side at the moment it's, definitely a DCE and Cameron Munster in the halves." "But there's still five weeks to go before that comes around, so a lot can happen in five weeks," JT continued. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

There's no better way to wrap up season 2 and end our debut year than being joined by a young man who has the fitness world at his feet. Jake is an extremely unique individual, not just for his athleticism but also due to the level of humility and maturity he possesses, traits that are often lost with a fast rise in popularity and status. In this episode we discuss all of Jake's achievements, from running his first marathon at 17yrs old to running a 2.28 marathon in Berlin earlier this year as well as his recent races that have enabled him to break into the Hyrox Elite 15. We dive into the training, nutrition and recovery routines and strategies Jake uses to ensure he is able to compete at world level, whilst also unpacking how to build through 5,10, half and full marathon distances. I've known of Jake for a few years now and every time our paths have crossed l've been left blown away by his attitude towards training, competing and helping others achieve their version on success. This episode will drop on Monday 23rd of December and will conclude Season 2 of the Without Limits Podcast. Thanks for all your kind words of support and for all the downloads and plays this year.

TormatoBook.com Produced by Wayne Hall, Joseph Cottrell, Jeffrey Crecelius and Ken Fuller Unfortunately, this is another week in which Mark and I have been unable to record a new episode. Don't worry though, next week we are interviewing someone who created a huge amount of Yeskit when he worked with the band in the 1970s. We are also taking part in an epic session all about the Steven Wilson remixes of Tales from Topographic Oceans with several of your favourite YMP guests. Those two episodes will (hopefully) be coming up in the next two weeks so look out for those. This week, on the theme of Yeskit, I'm going to replay the interview we did with the delightful Derek Dearden. The Yes equipment warehouse as it is today Here's how I introduced the interview in June 2023: "Unless you have already read my book, Yes The Tormato Story, you may not recognise the name Derek Dearden. However, you have certainly heard the results of his amazing technical wizardry. This is another deep dive episode but it also contains much of interest to any Yes fan. Derek was a delight to speak to when Mark and I interviewed him a few months ago and I've been keeping this fascinating interview under wraps so that early readers of the book had a few surprises to discover. If you don't like spoilers, then consider coming back to this episode at a later date. I won't be offended. Quite a bit of this conversation was used in the chapter entitled The Other Drums in my book but even if you have read that, I'm sure you'll love hearing Derek explaining how it all came about in his own words. To whet your appetite, Derek was employed at Advision as a technician and then went on to found a company very closely associated with Alan White." What did Derek Dearden create for Alan White? How did it all come about? What else did Derek invent? Let us know if you agree with us! There are only 100 of these packs available, so buy yours now! Resource Worldwide Sophie Dearden founded Resource Worldwide. She's an experienced entrepreneur who is currently running a vastly growing company. She first ventured into the world of business after leaving the University of Worcester with a First Class degree in Art. For many years she ran a number of highly profitable businesses, and she even had a short sabbatical working in the corporate world. But it was in 2018 when things really changed for her. Starting a new e-commerce business that could fit more easily around her family, Sophie knew how to make it grow, and within months she had no choice but to bring in a team to support her. This recruitment process was when she first hired remote professionals, and this experience opened up new doors for her that have now led to the establishment and success of Resource Worldwide. To date, Resource Worldwide has helped more than 200 clients fill roles with remote professionals, and the company's mission is to help over 1000 businesses by 2025. With Sophie's vast experience and track record for growing businesses, it seems that nothing is impossible for her. Summary of the Podcast Remote Working Kevin and Graham discuss how the workforce has become more global, with workers from places like the Philippines. They are excited to welcome guest Sophie Dearden, who runs a business called Resource Worldwide. Her business helps companies globally fill skills gaps by placing remote professionals from the Philippines. Sophie's Journey Sophie shares how she initially started hiring virtual assistants from the Philippines to support her own e-commerce business. After that Sophie began helping others hire remote talent as well. She discusses the challenges she faced early on, such as unreliable workers and quality issues, and how she learned to overcome those problems. The Benefits of Hiring Remote Workers Sophie explains how Resource Worldwide now places highly skilled remote professionals from the Philippines. They can be engineers, designers, and programmers, who work for UK and US companies. She highlights how her company is able to pay these workers significantly more than the local market rate. Yet, the cost is still 30% below UK rates. Overcoming Common Concerns Graham and Kevin raise common concerns about remote work, such as quality of work, cultural fit, communication, and time zone differences. Sophie explains how her company's rigorous screening and support processes help ensure a great fit and high performance from their remote professionals. The Impact on Worker's Lives The high salaries provided by Resource Worldwide transform the lives of the remote professionals. Workers get to buy homes, vehicles, and take vacations - things they could not previously afford. This sense of purpose and impact drives Sophie's vision for the business. Advice for Companies Considering Doing This Sophie provides guidance for companies interested in hiring remote talent. One factor is the importance of understanding cultural differences. Be transparent about expectations. Build strong relationships with remote workers to ensure a successful partnership. In this week's episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast I get to speak with Jake Dearden (@jakedearden_). Jake was part of the fastest men's doubles team at the 2024 HYROX World Championships in Nice, (along with marcdean_), beating out a lot of very strong competition. He was also the winner of the men's pro in New York, he is a HYROX master trainer, and he completed an incredible 11 HYROX races in one weekend in London. In this chat we talk about those achievements, all the work he does, his training, injury prevention and much more. He's an impressive athlete who has a great future ahead of him in the sport and it was an absolute pleasure to be able to chat with him.
The Queensland lead in to State of Origin 1 has been very smooth compared to New South Wales. The withdrawal of Dylan Edwards has seen spurned full back and captain James Tedesco recalled. Maroons five-eighth Tom Dearden even though it's a forced change for the Blues they are bringing in another dangerous player. He also told Andrew Moore and the team that he's enjoyed having a full camp after a fairly rushed debut 2 years ago.
The gang discusses two papers that look at the morphology and ecology of early fishes. The first paper investigates a hypothesis for how the pectoral girdle could have evolved, and the second paper looks at the functional morphology of a Paleozoic jawless fish. Meanwhile, Amanda missed some context, James throws some shade, and Curt is annoyed by AI. Up-Goer Five (Curt Edition): The friends talk about two papers that look at animals from a long time ago that live in water. The first paper looks at how part of the shoulder in people may have first started as a part of another part of the animal in these animals that lived in water a long long time ago. They find these parts of this animals from a long long time ago that they can use to see how the parts around the head grew. They use this to say that the shoulder parts may have started as a part of the thing these animals use to breath. The second paper looks at the mouth of a type of animal that lived in water a long long time ago that did not have a hard part in the mouth to move up and down and eat food. They use an animal they found with a lot of parts to see how these animals may have lived and what they could have eaten. They find that this animal could have been picking up food from ground at the bottom of the water or they could have been of taking food out of the water. This shows that even animals without a hard part to move up and down to eat food were finding ways to eat a lot of different things. References: Brazeau, Martin D., et al.
