This week's guest mix comes from the legendary duo Prok & Fitch. We were lucky enough to DJ with these two in Chester a few weeks ago and we're really excited about the guest mix they've made for us! Tipped by the national media as ‘One To Watch’ in 2009, Prok & Fitch have more than proved the journalists’ predictions right. The hottest DJ/producer pairing in house music have chalked up an impressive array of achievements in the past twelve months, including rocking the main room at Amnesia in Ibiza, touring Brazil and Australia and releasing both critically acclaimed and dancefloor-approved tracks. Now focussing on their original productions, Ben Prok and James Fitch’s works have been signed to some of the biggest names in the business: Axwell’s Axtone, Toolroom Records, CR2, Stealth and more. With serious and diverse support from the likes of Steve Angello, Paul Van Dyk and Carl Cox, there’s few clubs worldwide which haven’t witnessed the Prok & Fitch reaction. The boys have also been remixing for some heavy duty names including Laidback Luke, Gregor Salto, Ministry Recordings and Strictly Rhythm. Their own imprint, Floorplay Music continues to sign strong projects too, notably a smash from ATFC & David Penn - there’s no doubt that Prok & Fitch is becoming the byword for superior skills in quality house music. Floorplay Music is much more than a record label though – it’s a way of life and with formidable names like ATFC & David Penn already involved, there’s no doubt that Floorplay is becoming the byword for superior tracks in quality house music. Floorplay parties have quickly become stuff of late night legend. What started off as a small label showcase night has turned into regular roadblocks and consistant sell outs in Brighton, Dubai and London. The Guardian, Mixmag, IDJ and DJ magazine have all proclaimed Floorplay to be the ‘best night in the South’ and it’s easy to see why – guests have included Dirty Vegas, Chris Lake, Mark Knight... the list just goes on. Prok & Fitch have been rinsing their passports this year too – spinning at Dubai superclub Sanctuary, rocking the main stage of the Sneakerz festival in Antwerp and the Free Your Mind festival in Holland, as well as Ibiza, Australia and Brazil. Closer to home, the boys have also fulfilled one of their lifetime ambitions: to spin in the Wild Fruit arena at Brighton’s infamous Pride festival, which attracts over a quarter of a million revellers over one weekend. With massive plans afoot for Prok & Fitch and Floorplay over the coming months – it’d be fair to say they’re still the ‘ones to watch’ in 2010 and beyond..... Hear more from Prok & Fitch on their Soundcloud @prokfitch Or keep up to date with what they're up to by checking out their Facebook here https://www.facebook.com/ProkFitch

Dance Sense #015: Dance Sense presents Lucky Charmes

Dance Sense

Lucky's sound is a strong mix of funky house, grooves, sexy latin, uplifting tech house sounds, massive beats, eclectic vibes and tough African drums. His music and his DJ sets show a strong resemblance: filled with diversity, highly dynamic and always up tempo… Meet Lucky Charmes! Born on the 16th of June 1979 as Werner Charmes and initially starting out as a hip-hop DJ, Lucky’s career as a club DJ rapidly blew up as he gradually found his way to the house/club scene by obtaining the chance to play in a string of renowned Dutch clubs. With DJ sets in well-known venues such as Now&Wow (Rotterdam), Jimmy Woo (Amsterdam), The Sand (Amsterdam) and Escape (Amsterdam), Lucky’s growing reputation was not to be stopped. As a consequence, Lucky was asked to compile and mix the compilation “Supa Fly House Music”, released in 2002, marking his first DJ mix on CD with more to follow the years after. Within a few months, he transformed from a fanatic hobbyist into a respected club DJ, hosting his own night Zu Hause at the famous Jimmy Woo club in Amsterdam bringing culture, art and music together in a packed room. Nowadays, Lucky performs his energetic DJ sets on the biggest events and festivals such as Emporium Festival, Pleasure Island, Sexy Mother Fucker, F*ckers, Samsobeats, Sneakerz, Latin Village and many more high profile events. As a producer, Lucky also knows how to stand his ground: “Getcha Damn Hands Up” (Sneakerz Muzik), co-produced by Tony Verdult, reached # 1 in the Dance Tunes Top 100 chart and # 8 in the Beatport charts receiving tremendous support from DJ's such as Bob Sinclar, Erick E, Fedde Le Grand and Roger Sanchez. Follow up releases “So High” and “Plain Dots”, again a collaboration with Tony Verdult and both released on Sidney Samson’s imprint Samsobeats, also skyrocketed through the charts and can count on frequent plays from the likes of Axwell, Sidney Samson and Gregor Salto. Lucky’s fine craftsmanship in the studio didn’t pass by unnoticed in the global music scene and soon resulted into a number of high end remix jobs. Renowned artists like Robin S, John Dahlbäck, AnnaGrace, Sherry Flavour, DJ Jean, D-Rashid, Natural Born Grooves, Groovenatics and Hitmeister D amongst others all experienced a taste of Lucky’s expertise. Now exclusively signed to Selekted Music in The Netherlands, Lucky showcases his diversity on the label in an impressive résumé of tunes such as "Morninglight”, “Rastafari", "Dance With Me", “Invasion 2010” and “Elastik”. But his finest hour was yet to come…. With finding his comfort in the progressive/bigroom zone, Lucky Charmes is making serious waves in the global music industry. With a heavy recording contract for singles and albums at All Around The World / Universal Records UK in his back pocket, Lucky will be unleashing a ton of dance floor massacre over the coming months featuring some of the world’s biggest vocalists, topliners and singer/songwriters. THE ALBUM: Times change. We get old like a fine wine still aging, but we are not quite ready to close up shop. We take a long hard look and where we started, and how we got here. Long gone are the days of the cassette tape, the 2 inch tape, and the 8 track. While the graduates switch from CDs to laptops, one thing remains the same. The pulse of the city, the people and the music. This is the path I've traveled and my roots revisited. A new collection of collaborations, remixes, and some unreleased material with featured artists Gypsymen, Foremost Poets, Davidson Ospina, Christian Scott, DJ Ax, Charles Dockins, Rainy Payne, DC's Born I Music, Moba Sound and more. The Truth Only Comes One Way! Play It Loud! One Love. -- Oscar P THE TRACKLIST 01 // Oscar P – The Love Track – NYC Mix 02 // Oscar P - Time Machine (Oscar P & C. Scott Heavy Mix) 03 // Oscar P & C. Scott – Cuz U Luv Me (Original Mix) Oscar P is recognized as an innovator and force in New York City's music scene. His musical style fuses his influences not only from NYC, but also Chicago and Detroit. Creating a unique sound that can be heard on remixes for artists as diverse as Marvin Gaye, Peech Boys, John Legend, Beyonce, Foremost Poets, Gypsymen, Todd Terry, and Physics. With a career spanning 25 years, his tracks are popping up on radio and club playlists from some of the biggest DJs in the industry. The first single off the album by Oscar P & C. Scott - The Message was #1 on Traxsource for 2 weeks, and remained in the Top 10 for 5 weeks. THE MESSAGE was played heavily by David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, Aki Bergen, Todd Terry, Louie Vega, Miguel Migs and many other top DJs during WMC 2012, making it one of the TOP tracks of the Winter Music Conference. In 2011 he released the 25/8 album to great reviews, which garnered strong support from the likes of D.O.N.S., Sonny Fodera, Stacey Pullen, DJ Sneak, Hector Romero and many of his peers. "Its always special when people you look up to, tell you that you've done a great job. It means the world." In 2010 Oscar P's "Remixed & Reconstructed", hit #1 on Traxsource's Top 50 Albums. He then scored 2 more top 10 hits on the site with music partner Davidson Ospina on remixes for Maurice Joshua, and Mustafa. Mid-summer came the global smash remix for Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye. Supported by the likes of Tiesto, Tom Novy, Inland Knights, Robert Owens, Milk & Sugar, DJ Sneak, Kaskade, Carl Kennedy, Eddie Amador, DJ Hell, Miguel Migs, Michael Gray, Black Coffee, Quentin Harris, Mark Knight, Grant Nelson and many more. DJ Magazine UK - Oscar P drops a shade of house nestled between the downright dirty and the sun-drenched. Think Oliver $'s 'Doin' Ya Thing' meets Roland Clark's 'I Get Deep'. Lets keep an eye on this guy! Tillate Magazine Weekly Edition - Greg Stainer and Oscar P's RIDE was our Top 5 pick a fews month. Cant wait to see what he does next. M8 Magazine UK - There is an unspoken PRESSURE for top brands and DJs to show force each year at WMC. Oscar P does this the right way. Every Year! Phil Turnipseed, DJ Times Magazine - Just like the remixes coming out from his camp, the new album delivers time and time again.  BK 2 My Roots is available at    Welcome to Open Bar Music.
