Archie Hamilton featuring HQA - Let The Light In - DEFECTED 20 Minute Guest Mix by Steven Jamal Steven Jamal BIO: My name is Steven, I'm Portuguese and live in Geneva, Switzerland. I DJ and produce a house, vocal house, deep, and tech house music. I started DJing in 2005 and I was fortunate enough to get residencies at a few local clubs. I worked my way up to becoming a resident for Deep Club in Geneva. This led to bigger opportunities and I aligned myself with Tasty Events where I played with some of the biggest names in the house scene including Simon Dunmore, Andrea Olivia, Sam Divine, Sandy Rivera, Purple Disco Machine, Franky Rizardo, Noir and plenty more. I also had the chance to play abroad and traveled to Miami to play Winter Music Conference in 2009 and 2011, as well as Tomorrowland 2016 (Brussels Airline Stand) and Defected in The House in Switzerland. After I started producing, I signed my first track to DJ Spen's label Unquantize Recordings and then my next two pieces were picked up by Groove People Records. This included my track Hold It which gained me a lot of exposure due to its success on Beatport. It was then that I was contacted by 331 Records who I have teamed up to release my next track This Moment. I've also produced a handful of unofficial remixes which have gained plenty of momentum on Soundcloud including my remix of Disclosure & Khalid's track Know Your Worth which has got over 390k streams. @julianperez developed his love for electronic music during the early 90's heavily influenced by the music coming out of US and UK. He's recognized amongst his peers as a unique and diverse DJ. His personal style and approach to DJing can be summarized in four simple words: dedication, discernment, respect and patience. Julian released his first record in 2010 and before long it became clear that the next logical step was to launch his own label. Thus, āFathers & Sons Productionsā was born⦠A strictly vinyl-only label which he founded with a friend in 2012. This, provided Julian a platform to push his sound worldwide and within a short of period time. 2017 was the year when his fresh own project āGirada Unlimitedā was launched and quickly gained the attention of the real crate diggers. A vinyl-only label already heavily supported before even knowing who was behind it. The tenth release of the label comes as Julian's second album āBreak-Evenā in 2021 and right after a solid series of records by Julian among other producers. Perez has acquired an impressive international reputation, playing in the most relevant festivals such as Sunwaves in Romania, Epizode in Vietnam and hosting his own events during Sonar Week in Barcelona, Kazantip Festival in Crimea, Winter Music Conference in Miami and in some of the finest underground parties and frequently in essential clubs worldwide like @rexclub in Paris, @fabric in London, Womb in Tokyo and Robert Johnson in Offenbach just to name a few, showing not only him as a label boss, but as an independent artist.āØHe's been nominated as best artist on 2012 and 2013 by Vicious Music Awards and on newcomer category by DJ Awards in 2016. Julian has been a regular at Underground Ibiza club since years, hosting his own nights over the summer season. Besides that, he's been invited frequently to @richiehawtin 's ENTER. at Space and to Sven Vath's @cocoonrecordings Ibiza. The best to enjoy Julian is to listen to him live on the dancefloor⦠from technique to record selection in his own world behind the decks. Stay Rave with #R13!

https://www.mixcloud.com/horatioofficial/horatio-preents-ibizaholic-radioshow-episode-52-special-guest-mix-oscar-g/ Save the best for last. I have the honour and privilege to have as guest star in my radioshow the LEGENDARY DJ AND PRODUCER , MR"DARK BEATS" himself, OSCAR G . If you were to get out a map and track the history of house music ā with endless lines sprouting from New York, Chicago and Detroit to points all over the world ā you'd have to make a big, red circle around Miami, Florida, and start drawing. Miami was never ground zero to a full-fledged subcultural movement. But it is where Oscar Gaetan, better known as Oscar G, has lived every day of his life. And that fact alone makes it a hub on the global underground. An award-winning songwriter, producer, and DJ, Oscar is one of dance music's brightest and most enduring stars. As part of seminal production teams Liberty City, Murk, and Funky Green Dogs, he boasts hits ā Billboard chart-toppers as well as underground smashes ā in every decade, every trend, and every market. āSome Lovin',ā āFired Up,ā and āDark Beatā are more than just tracks: They are moments, shared by clubbers worldwide. They're the kind of moments Oscar still creates at Space Miami, his hometown superclub, where he's been a resident DJ for a staggering eight years ā coming full circle after a globetrotting career. Oscar and longtime friend and production partner Ralph Falcon grew up in a Miami enlivened by the fresh spirit of hip-hop. āBreak dancing, graffiti and the music that went along with it: That's really what got me into DJ-ing in the first place,ā he says. By the age of 12, he was already spinning at school dances. Oscar and Ralph started working together at the end of high school, blending the sounds of their youth with the beginnings of house, like Ten City and Blaze; and the darker Euro bands of the time, like Depeche Mode and New Order. āWe were always big on doing our own sound, with our own feeling and vibe in every aspect of it; from the way we mixed things to the sounds we chose,ā says Oscar. āI remember being obsessed with that for years, and then people started to listen.ā The early years bore some of the work for which they're still best known, like often imitated, never duplicated vocals āSome Lovin',ā āIf You Really Love Someone,ā and āReach For Meā (Tribal). Upon their release in 1993, the pair became instant superstars. āEurope kind of grabbed us,ā says Oscar, so they spent a good amount of time touring overseas, eventually visiting every major and minor outpost of the global dance scene, including Zouk Singapore, Ministry Of Sound London, and Stereo Montreal. āFired Up!ā (Twisted), their biggest hit ever, followed in 1996. It topped the Billboard Dance chart, and even cracked the Top 100, peaking at No. 80. They would go on to remix countless major pop artists, from Madonna to Cher to Donna Summer; and appear on mainstream outlets like MTV and Top Of The Pops. The boys also cut two complete Funky Green Dogs albums for major label MCA, āStarā (1999) and āSuper Californiaā (2001). But their own measures of success were still decidedly underground: āOnce Junior Vasquez played our records at Sound Factory [in New York], we felt like we could retire, and at that point we were like 20,ā says Oscar. In March 2000, Space opened in downtown Miami with Oscar as the Saturday night resident, just as the world was paying its annual visit for Winter Music Conference. The club ā with its cavernous main room, pummeling German sound system and nitrogen blasts ā was the talk of dance world, and the legend of Oscar's residency began to grow. The year 2003 was a big one. Oscar released the āLive @ Spaceā (Star 69) compilation, and won the Club World Award for āBest Resident DJā (which he won again in 2007). Murk set a new Billboard Dance chart record, with five No. 1's in a single year: Four singles from their self-titled artist album on Tommy Boy Records, and āDark Beatā (Twisted), tribal house's first real vocal anthem, which found its way from dance floors onto mainstream radio. āWe came up with āDark Beat' in about 15 minutes. Whenever things come that quickly, you know there's something to them,ā says Oscar. āBut we didn't think radio or anthem; we were thinking more like, āOh man, Danny Tenaglia's gonna be all over this!'ā In 2006, Oscar became one of Pacha New York's only non-NY-based monthly residents, strengthening his bond with his home-away-from-home, and its rich dance history. He released a second installment in the Space series in 2007, starting new relationships with Nervous Records in the U.S. and CR2 in the U.K. CR2 also snapped up the Murk catalog, and commissioned new remixes of the classic tracks, including Paul Woolford's takes on āIf You Really Love Someoneā and āReach For Me.ā And in 2008, after nearly two decades making music, Oscar released out his first solo album, āInnov8ā (Nervous). Last year Oscar released a mixed CD āBeatsā on Nervous Records and working with his Murk partner Ralph Falcon produced one of the undergrounds anthem of 2012 ā Amame ā which was released worldwide on Defected. He and Ralph also re-activated the seminal label Murk Records. Even though his passion for music creation is undeniable, it's in his DJ booth where Oscar feels most at home. āOn the music side, I've felt pretty energized lately, because the changes in the industry really enable you to be a lot more experimental and take more chances,ā he says. āBut DJ-ing to me always comes first: I really believe in it as an art form. Having a residency like Space, with a regular crowd, it's the ultimate.ā

How does a record label, or distribution platform work these days, especially in such parts of the world where the technology opportunities are quite different than in the United States or Europe? Is there a demand in other continents deemed worthy of creating outlets for artists to provide music on? Diego Farias who is the CEO and co-founder of the record label and music distributor Amuse, explains how in this music climate they provide that platform, along with other features, affording almost every artist the opportunity to succeed in this ever-changing and challenging industry. Amuse has been named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies and one of Europe's hottest startups by WIRED UK. As its creator, Diego spends his days bringing new perspectives to the music industry. Prior to Amuse, Diego was a part of Warner Music Sweden, taking the company to fully embracing music streaming. In 2017 he co-founded Amuse to answer one question - what would a record label look like if it was started today? Diego has previously spoken at conferences including DLD, Midem, Winter Music Conference, the A3C Festival & Conference, Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), and BogotĆ” Music Market (Bomm). Morillo has been a DJ since the age of twelve, entranced by the turntable trickery of the masters. Disc jockey, producer, all-round social gadfly and party animal. There really is very little in the world of music and entertainment that Erick Morillo hasnāt turned his hand to. Heās a platinum-selling artist, heās topped the charts worldwide as the producer behind Reel 2 Realās hit āI Like To Move Itā (used in both Madagascar movies, reaching millions of viewers worldwide and covered by Will I Am in Madagascar 2) and heās been responsible for a bewildering array of dance-floor tracks including āReachā, āBelieveā, āDo What You Wantā and āI Feel Loveā - under pseudonyms including Ministers De La Funk, The Dronez (with Harry āChoo Chooā Romero and Jose Nunez) and Liāl Mo Ying Yang. Heās remixed everyone from Whitney Houston to Basement Jaxx and continues to run the legendary Subliminal Records house music empire. On his debut album he collaborated with Puff Daddy and Boy George alike.Erick remained one of the most in-demand and instantly recognizable DJs in the world. From the instant success of his weekly āSessionsā parties in New York, to hosting events like the annual road-blocking Subliminal Sessions parties in Miami at Winter Music Conference, to his coveted residency at Ministry of Sound (heās still one of the only American DJs to ever hold one) and of course his now legendary Subliminal Sessions parties at Pacha Ibiza, Morillo just doesnāt stop. His non-stop DJing schedule at one point saw him straddling the globe playing up to a whopping 30 gigs a month, particularly in the summer months where heāll play from Rome and Mykonos to London. Heās also become a familiar television personality through his appearances on MTV and MTV Ibiza two years in a row whilst starring in a seven part series for UK TV station Channel 4.āĀ SoundcloudĀ -click hereāĀ BeatportĀ -Ā click hereāĀ SpotifyĀ -Ā click here
The first time Groovejet was played? It was March 1999 I was going to the Winter Music Conference in Miami for the second time, my flight was in the early morning and I wanted to stay awake until it was time to leave, so went in my studio and I sampled a previously unreleased Tom Moulton version of Carol Williams āLove is Youā that I had just bought on a Salsoul release called ā12" Gold Master Seriesā. I played with those samples for an hour or so and came up with this instrumental track, I quickly burned 1 copy into a CD and ran to the airport. When I landed in Miami my old friend Boris Dlugosch came to pick me up at the airport with a nice rented cabriolet and drove me to my (shitty) hotel in South Beach. While on the road he asked me if I had some new music and I put the CD on the car radio but we kept talking about things and I forgot the CD there. Later that day he was playing along with a great lineup in a club called āGroove Jetā and he invited me to go, when I arrived there people I didn't even know ran to me asking about my new record, I didn't understand what they were talking about until Boris told me he had played that demo and that the people went nuts. That's how the story began for the record that changed my life and that's why I decided to call it Groovejet, also Boris suggested calling the EP āMighty Miami EPā. I always regretted arriving late that night and missing that special moment when it was played for the first time, I wish I was in that dancefloor but⦠Incredibly enough, 10 years later a friend of Boris told him that he was there that night and that he recorded the whole set from the middle of the dancefloor using the internal microphone of a MINIDISK WALKMAN. As the room wasn't that big the recording is somehow even better than a proper direct one because you can hear people's reactions to each record, you can even hear people asking him what the record was. The whole set is amazing and an accurate portrait of the best tracks of that season in my opinion. So here it is: Boris Dlugosch live at Groove Jet, March 16th, 1999.

Hey there, we are back with another episode. Winter is almost over, but we still have a few more cold breeze our way. Since this month is Winter Music Conference month, letās dedicate this episode to one of the biggest electronic music conferences that happen every year in Miami. Here is what we have lined up, MUUI, Simon Doty, Hot TuneiK with a nice rework of Beautiful Things, Chris Cargo and Solid Quelle. And how about remixes by Jody Wisternoff & James Grant, Eagles & Butterflies, Death on the Balcony and much more. The classic for March comes from The Doppler Effect, a nice way to transition into Spring. I hope you enjoy the episode. -- Click here to view the tracklist. Party Favorz is FINALLY dropping our first non-Stop top Dance Club mix of 2020. I generally find that releasing anything too early is generally regurgitated versions of top dance music that was already building momentum going into the new year with a few new entries. By waiting a bit longer, the overall releases begin to slowly drip out giving Future Nostalgia something new and fresh overall. I was surprised at the dark tone of many of these songs heading into 2020. It's not bad per say ā but I'd prefer a brighter and happier tone. Perhaps it's the mood of the country in these dark times in this divisive election year. All I know is that folks could really benefit from some uplifting house music.Ā Hopefully, they'll start rolling out before the Winter Music Conference in Miami. Then again, their award nominations are absolute bullshit where they pay homage to many unknown talent or has beens over and over each year. It's nauseating. THIS IS WHERE IT'S AT Overall, Future Nostalgia features a diverse offering of great music but there are two tracks that I've been all over since their release (okay three). The first is "Good Time Girl" by Sofi Tukker featuring Charlie Baker. One of my go-to shows at the moment is HBO's "The New Pope." They've always intertwined current tracks into this satirical take on the papacy and this year's opener is the latest groove by the college besties. The opening credits feature a bunch of nuns dressed in see-through nightgowns grinding and undulating before a glowing cross. Each opening scene is different but features the same pulsating and hypnotic song. I literally never get tired of it. While their low-budget video has garnered over 4 million views on YouTube, Ultra Music has not serviced this track to DJs nor released any accompanying remixes, which I find odd. This is a hit through and through and should be force-fed to radio and clubs globally. Yeah, it's that good. The other two tracks are Madonna's "I Don't Search I Find," which currently tops Billboard's Dance Club charts. There's a plethora of remixes that were commissioned for this song but it's the late entry from Kue that's got me wound up. He takes the track and underscores it with a sleazy disco grind that gives the song more urgency. In fact, I think this should have been the original conception for the song. The closest comparison would be Giorgio Moroder's production of Donna Summer's "Love To Love You Baby" without the 1,000 orgasms.Ā Purple Disco Machine takes a similar approach with his rework of the Mark Ronson and Yebba collaboration "Don't Leave Me Lonely,"Ā which hits all the right notes. DUA LIPA Dua Lipa is one of my favorite artists at the moment. She can actually sing, works with the best writers and frankly is virtually being ignored at radio in North America. Her work exemplifies a woman who takes chances and has her pulse on what's the "next big thing." As the label is testing the waters for her follow up singles in different markets with "Future Nostalgia" and "Physical" (no not the Olivia Newton-John monster that topped the charts back in the early 80's), I've included versions of both but keep your ears open because there are stellar remixes out there other than the one's included here. Overall, I'm happy that I waited to release this set but you can definitely expect the massive Spring Break set to drop by the end of March with all new material. Next on tap (which is already in the can) is the next Disco House (formerly Funky House) set. This takes a decidedly cosmopolitan turn and all you disco freaks (like your humble host) will be pleasantly pleased. Expect that to drop by the end of next week. That will be followed by the next Underground House set the following week for which I've already compiled the tracks. This is going to be one hell of a party set so make sure to keep an eye on our feed. We're finally getting a break from all the rain (and some snow) we've had all week long with ...

Welcome back to Universal Rhythm Sessions. We close off the year with a special treat by one of NYC's favorites, Simon Heyliger!Ā Straight out of Brooklyn, New York, Simon Heyliger is walking in the footsteps of some of the most recognized DJ's out today; who have all had an impact on his style. He was partying at Club Exit, a New York City Super Club in the late 90's, watching 3,000 people dancing and having the time of their lives when Simon realized his dream of touring the world and becoming an internationally known Disc Jockey. He wanted to be the one to provide this therapeutic enjoyment to the masses through dance music. And with that in mind, DJ Simon Heyliger was born. His unique style of spinning consists of electronic music genres such as House, Tech House and Techno. He is constantly inspired by legendary New York City disc jockey, Danny Tenaglia.Simon has spun at Pacha NYC, Cielo, District 36, Webster Hall, and Sullivan Room just to name a few. He has been hand selected to DJ at the Winter Music Conference in Miami & has been asked to play at Sunday School presented by Made Event for the 2nd year in row. Some world renowned DJ's/Producers he's played along with are Adam Beyer, Gary Beck, Hermanez, Nick Curly, Sharam, The Martinez Brothers, Victor Calderone and many more.Simon has plans to stay focused on creating his own productions this year. This Brooklyn breakout star is definitely one to keep your eye on. He is already garnering a local following and soon music lovers worldwide will be introduced to this class act. He has had multiple releases and remixes on some notable labels like Slanted Black, KULT Records, ROCit Records, Southside Recordings, Land of Voodoo, Undergroovy, Nervous Records and more. Welcome back to another Universal Rhythm Session. This week we feature an NYC favorite, Chriss Vargas. He has been destroying the main dance floor for the past few years at one of NYC's top night clubs, Pacha. This driven talent started his career about a decade ago in the underground EDM scene at various Queens NY night clubs and lounges. During this period he built a huge fan base that ultimately caught the attention of some of NYC's top promoters. This led him to headlining events during the Winter Music Conference in Miami at top clubs like Space, Nocturnal and Karu & Y. He has since played at major venues throughout the northeastern US in places like Cielo NY, Neptunes, Glo LI, Tavern LI, Rise BOSTON, Grand CONN, Arena (Asseteria) NY, Dream LI, Water Taxi Beach NY, Santos NY and many more. But just playing music isn't where he stops, he began to produce his own original tracks to add to his dark tribal tech driven sets. With original releases on Nervous Records, Stereo Productions, Coraza Recordings, KULT Records and more he continues to work hard in the studio always keeping his sets fresh and full of groove. He has collaborated with such artist like Cristian Arango, Jean Pierre, Deka, DJ Boris, Dave Rosario, Abel Ramos and the list continues to grow. The first time I heard Vargas rock was at NY's Water Taxi Beach opening the venue up for the Iberican duo Chus & Ceballo's. Needless to say he caught my ears attention and since then I became a fan and follower. So I hope you enjoy this exclusive Universal Rhythm Session from the very talented Chriss Vargas. Enjoy!Remember to email us with any comments or questions about the show or the artists featured. Hello my fellow podcasters, With over 4,600 podcaster world wide I am proud to give you "Latin House Jamz". With Winter Music Conference fast approaching, I wanted a mix that you can listen to while chilling on the beach. This mix features the way Latin house music used to be, now many would argue that latin house music is more tribal with very little vocals. As popular as it is today I'm not that big of a fan, so I had to go back several years and bring back some of the latin house tracks that used to rock miami back in the day. I hope you enjoy this mix and I look forward to seeing you all at Winter Music Conference. Thanks again for all the support and please be sure to rate and comment my podcasts. http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/dj-suspence-official-podcast/id332862745 Website:http://djsuspence.podbean.com Cheers, Spencer D
