The editor Terry L. Anderson brings together this collection of essays featuring the work of nine leading policy analysts, who argue that market forces are just as important as government regulation in shaping climate policy—and should be at the heart of our response to helping societies adapt to climate change. Anderson notes in his introduction that most current climate policies such as the Paris Agreement require hard-to-enforce collective action and focus on reducing or mitigating greenhouse gases rather than adapting to their negative effects. Adaptive actions can typically deliver much more, faster and more cheaply than any realistic climate policy. The authors tackle a range of issues: the hidden costs of renewable energy sources, the political obstacles surrounding climate change policy, insurance and financial instruments for pricing risk of exposure to the effects of climate change, and more Terry Anderson @HooverInst https://thehill.com/opinion/energy-environment/547525-a-better-approach-to-climate-change-for-stateshttps://thehill.com/opinion/energy-environment/547764-the-urge-to-complicate-and-climatize-trade-policy?rl=1 https://thehill.com/opinion/energy-environment/548667-climate-change-to-adapt-is-to-be-human 1940 BUCHAREST

Does the conquest explain Quebec's historical poverty? The economic consequences of 1760. The authors tackle a range of issues: the hidden costs of renewable energy sources, the political obstacles surrounding climate change policy, insurance and financial instruments for pricing risk of exposure to the effects of climate change, and more. Reliance on emerging renewable energies and a carbon tax are not enough to prevent the effects of global warming, they argue. We must encourage more private action and market incentives to adapt to a rapidly changing climate.

We must encourage more private action and market incentives to adapt to a rapidly changing climate. .

Adaptive actions can typically deliver much more, faster and more cheaply, than any realistic climate policy. We must encourage more private action and market incentives to adapt to a rapidly changing climate

Who owns the land? This question has dominated the history of the American West, where the interests and ambitions of governments and agencies, of capitalists and environmentalists, of new arrivals and old stakeholders often collide. Can there be common ground on issues so contentious that they have led to armed standoff? To discuss this important issue, Black Mountain Institute is proud to welcome a panel of extraordinary writers of diverse backgrounds and views. One of America’s most revered poets, Gary Snyder is a committed environmentalist and has been dubbed the "poet laureate of deep ecology." Timothy Egan is a New York Times columnist and author of the National Book Award-winning The Worst Hard Time, a history of the Dust Bowl. Economist and writer Terry L. Anderson, who coined the term "enviro-capitalism," is one of the foremost advocates of free market environmentalism. Moderator Virginia Scharff is a distinguished Western historian, author, and director of the Center for the Southwest at the University of New Mexico.
