Monday 14th September 2026 Welcome to Episode 01 of Road to WA Women's Track Night, the first installment of the series. This series will bring you stories from four women who will be running in the inaugural WA Women's Track night, hear about their running journeys and how they came to enter this event. Over the course of the series, we'll also hear from physio and sports nutrition and fueling experts along the way and chat to our awesome presenting partner for the track night Pete from RecLab. In this episode we meet the first two of our participants Jess and Nikita. Jess has represented Australia in the Backyard Ultra scene and came second in the Delirious WEST 100 miler in 2022. Life looks a bit different now with Jess recently becoming a mum and the WA Women's Track Night will be her first race back. Nikita Fredonnet is an elite surf lifesaver turned runner, taking out the 2023 Transcend 65km and strong performances in UTA. Nikita joins us fresh off the UTMB 100 miler in Chamonix. We're also joined by Savannah Rayner, Vici's partner in crime behind the WA Women's Track Night as well as WARP's favourite physio Ella Eastaugh who shares her insights on training load and strength work for women runners. -------- This training series is brought to you by the WA Women's Track Night, a celebration of women's running and the community around it. Monday 31st August 2026 Just the usual gang today to recap the last few weeks of races, and some seriously impressive feats of human endurance for special causes. Chris and Simon have sensible training weeks, while Vici runs a big PB at City to Surf to cap off her month of ‘solid' runs/races. We had our on the ground reporter in Bryan Lip covering the Cocos (keeling) Islands Marathon in our unexpected ‘Getaway' segment, the WAMC Perth 32, the Soul Runners Trail Blaze Fun Run and the spectacle that was the Sydney Marathon and City to Surf. Bryan's back with an energetic Sydney recap with WA's marathon power couple and friends, we find out more about the 5km road race on the 6th December and we do another call out for pacers for the Perth Running Festival. Human heart has its spiritual dimension, from which the activitiessuch as feeling, willing and choosing come. Meanwhile, human spirit is thespiritual element of human person that connects himself with God. When he ispraying or meditating on the Word of God, his spiritual activity becomesdominant, wherein all his attention is in union with the divine. There are occasions when the condition of one's heartand spirit is considered old or out of date. This means that if his heart andspirit are below the standard of the Lord, namely an old type of human personthat is enslaved by sin and evil. The Lord wills that this type must bereplaced with a new person of man, namely the one who is renewed and redeemedin the Spirit of God. In general, the scriptures give us the truth, that theperson of Jesus Christ has made new the face of the earth and particularly thepeople who take part in His being the Son of God and in His mission, are trulymade new. There was a boy who was too naughty at home that hascaused him a big setback in his study at the junior high school near his home.Surely he became frustrated and his parents were mostly anxious about theirson's study situation. They responded to this by bringing the boy to the schooldormitory at the beginning of the new school year. Priests and religiousbrothers took care the boys who were members of this dormitory. On the firstday at the dormitory, this teenager soon experienced a situation of confictwithin himself. The condition of the dormitory, the rules, togetherness withhis fellow students, and the assistance from priests and brothers; all theseseemed to make him unable to follow his own will as he used to be in the past,such as laziness, grumbling, protesting, insulting, stealing, fighting. This conflict did not discourage him. However, thelife in the dormitory for him was a good challenge, especially since heremembered that in the beginning he was given encouragment that he would obtaingood achievement in his study. He just lived out this new life day by day andwanted that the promise would come true. During the holidays after school yearand while at home, his family noticed the fact that this boy had completelychanged. His mother asked him: "What made you change, son?" Heresponded the mother by pointing out to the cross of Jesus hanging on the wall. This is an example of a new heart and a new spirit.The prophet Ezekiel explained that God would come and walk around to forgiveHis people who were already so sinful. They would be released from their oldlife, and be given a new life, with their hearts and spirits made new. Whenevery time we accept and fulfill God's will to do His work, we are made newagain. Ella chats about her rehab and return to running following a couple of setbacks, Simon shares his reflections following some niggles, Vici ticks another week in the lead up to this week's Transcend team relay and City to Surf later this month, and Chris shares his final preparations before the 65km. In local results we had the Christmas Island Marathon with friends of the show Bryan Lip and Ash Ritto Ritson, and very close to home we had the WAMC Lake Gwelup Run that had the 5km and 10km distances. There was a group of teenagers about to enter a shop thatsells electronics and cell phones. They were so obsessed to have the newestproduct of cell phone that was being promoted everywhere. However, these poorteenagers had no money to buy what they were so eager to have, so they plannedto steal the cell phones in that shop. They planned in such way that nobodyaround would notice their action. But before doing that, the group leader invited all togather. He wished them to pray before stealing the cell phones they wanted. Andwhen they were about to pray, one of theirs friends raised an objection, as he wassaying in this way: "This is absurd. How can we pray then we go to steal?God definitely will not allow us." In the end they all did not steal andeach of them dispersed. When people gather to pray, they have good motivationto achieve a good objective too. What the today's Gospel says is true, that Godis present when people, few or many, gather in His power and His name. If thereis a gathering of people with motivation to create chaos, commotion andviolence, that will be so displeasing God. Every gathering in the name of the Lord has someconstituted elements that are familiar to us. The first element is when we usethe name of the Lord to be the easiest way for us to feel close with Him. Ashort prayer, a praise of His holy name, or a hymn of praise are among theexamples of how we come together with our fellow brothers and sisters to praisethe Lord. God is present in our midst through various occasions like these andHe is never present in our gathering to evil or sinful act. Another important element of gathering in the name ofthe Lord which is ecclesial in nature, is what we usually do in formal way  to worship God under the guidance of theChurch. There are liturgical celebrations, ministries of the sacraments anddevotional prayers. God indeed touches us through the observance of theseworships and the reception of sacraments. He truly blesses those who partake inthem and receive the outpouring of graces. The ordained ministers in the personof deacon, priest and bishop who become the sign of the authority of the Churchthat serves, are those who represent Jesus Christ himself. Their task is tobridge communication between God and people in their acts of worship. And the element of love is a concrete expression ofhow God acts through the works of charity. A meeting to plan a program ofcharity for the poor families, this is a gathering in the name of God. Agathering to discuss on the renewal of interpersonal relationship and fraternalcorrection, this is also an act made in the name of the Lord. In essence, Godis present in the gathering of believers and He animates them. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... O Lord Jesus Christ, stay with us alwaysevery day, especially in our gatherings of worship and reception of sacraments,where You alone involves to share us the divine graces. Chris is at the pointy end of his Transcend training, Vici (or Vishi) runs back to back races that included a Backroads Gravel Run win, and Simon is just in the corner of his daughter's room trying his best not to be injured. Nathalie Degenaar is universitair hoofddocent astrofysica aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Na haar studie natuur- en sterrenkunde promoveerde zij er in 2010 op onderzoek naar zwakke röntgendubbelsterren. In haar onderzoek richt zij zich op neutronensterren, zwarte gaten en de extreme verschijnselen die zich in hun omgeving afspelen. In many political traditions a staff or stick is used as a symbol ofpower. We remember Moses who used a staff to show that the power of God was atwork in him, when he was in his mission to lead the people of God to where theLord led them. Kings and presidents of various countries also use staff whichis the symbol of the power they hold. In the Church, the Pope and Bishops havealso staff with the similar meaning. The staff that is made of wood or metal refers to thepower or authority of the person who uses it. Even a stick of wood which isused by father or mother at home is enough to give us understanding that ifchildren violate the rules, they will be subjected to punishment be beaten withthe stick. Seeing what this staff or stick signifies, now we can furtherunderstand why  in the scriptures Godalways reveals His power through the symbolic staff being used by His chosenfigures who had so important duty to do. Today we listen to the Lord who says through theprophecy of Micah in the first reading, that He Himself shepherded His peoplewith His staff. Jesus the good shepherd also carried out the pastoral works byusing the high priest's staff, which until now has been symbolized by the Popeand Bishops. With that staff, the duty as leader and shepherd have itslegitimacy and strength to demand obedience and reliance from people who aresubjected to it. The staff of God has its powerful function in thepurification and deliverance of men and women believers from the power ofdarkness and sin. Satan, the ruler of darkness, when confronted with the powerof God that is symbolized by the staff, he will fall trembling and fear. Thatwas evident in every action of Jesus who was always present through words anddeeds, which instantly frightened the Satan who asked not to be tortured. Thisis the role of to the staff of God, that is to cast all our sins and to bethrown into the sea, says the prophet Micah. So we must look at the staff when it is shown to us insuch manner being held by the person in power, it is made as a support when westand, or when it is used to emphasize on something so important. Jesus referredto all the power that existed in Him, when He spoke that His true disciples andapostles were indeed His mother and His brothers. This statement of Jesussurely contains the teaching that is full with authority. This teaching isabout to carry out God's will which is to be the main task of every follower ofChrist. The staff of Jesus until now is in the hands of the Pope and the Bishopsof the Church. We must listen and follow our Holy Father and our Bishop.Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... O Lord, may our fidelity and obedience tothe Church always be strong and lasting especially through our obedience to theHoly Father and Bishop. Ephesians 2: 19-22; Rs psalm 117: 1.2; John 20: 24-29.O MY LORD AND MY GOD Our meditation today has the theme: O My Lord and MyGod. This expression came from St. Thomas the Apostle, whose feast we celebratetoday in the Church. He was one of the 12 apostles who had also another nameDidymus, and was very well known as a person who had little faith and hard tobelieve in the risen Christ. He along with other apostles and many people in hisday had a perception of Jesus the Messiah who must become a king like the KingDavid who was powerful and believed to be able to liberate the people of Israelfrom all forms of occupation of foreign nations. But this perception as totallywrong. Jesus was found to be put to death in a shameful way by being crucifiedand died. This as clearly very disappointing to many people who alreadybelieved in the power of a Messiah. One of those people who were so disappointed was theapostle Thomas. Consequently, he chose to stay away, hid himself, afraid andmaybe thinking of choosing another way of life. Anyway he was very angry anddisappointed. The testimony of the women who met the risen Jesus, along withthe stories of other apostles who saw first hand Jesus who rose from the deaddid not give any light for Thomas to believe. He instead needed other evidencethat was stronger and not just a story telling. For him story or narration toldis equally bad as lie. If there is a big disappointment, we actually need anew spirit that is more superior in order to overcome it. This spirit is notenough from any human power and ability, but must be given from above, namelyGod himself who has divine intervention. Evidently, Jesus Himself came to givethe truth about Himself who had already risen. This should had been a suppertestimony and not jus stories. With the real presence of the risen Christ, theapostle Thomas was then able to change radically, signified by his powerfulconfession of faith, "O my Lord and my God". Everyone of us has experienced disappointment, despairand broken heart. They vary from small to big, or mild to severe. Whatever theconditions, such sufferings indeed require recovery. For those who experiencedisappointment, despair or severe broken heart, they are surely in need ofspiritual healing that is only through the Lord's intervention. When therecovery is acquired,  a new life isregained, enthusiasm grows again, and the confession of faith in God is strengthened. And so there is a wise advice for all of us. If weexperience suffering such as disappointment, despair or broken heart, let usrely on the strength and the mercy of God. We need to avoid being closed, sador even an act of blaming God because of this trouble. Every disappointment,despair or broken heart is in due will pass away. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... In your providence and mercy, O Lord,strengthen us to be always in Your love, especially when disappointment,despair and hear-broken come along our ways. May the Blessed Mother, theguardian angels and especially the apostle Thomas accompany us in thesedifficult moments. Hail Mary, full of grace ... In the name of the Father ...

However, there was a complicated problem theyneeded to face. They should follow a matrimony celebration according to one ofthe religious rituals, since each embraces different religion. The young womanwho is a Catholic really wanted the wedding to be celebrated in the Catholicway, but she did not want to oblige this to her future non-Catholic husband. All other preparations have been done so well. Theyonly had that problem of the religious ritual which has not found a sign ofsolution. They both and also each family were just waiting for what God reallywanted to give them a way out. Then finally came what God really wanted. Theyoung man with courage and sincerity told his future wife, his own family andhis fiancé's family, that he wanted their weeding celebration tobe in the Catholic way. The young woman wanted to know why he was so sure ofhis decision, and with confidence he answered her, as he said: "God hasgiven us so much and so good. We just need to follow Him by giving like what Hedoes." In short, he wanted to make things smooth, and as far as possiblethey should avoid make things more complicated. The young man based his conviction on God himself. Onekey word for God is giving. The nature of God is to give and God's fundamentalaction is all the same, namely to give. We deserve to have the same convictionas that of the young man, that God has done everything and made everythingpossible so that we can live and be allowed to fill our lives with growth. Somefill it with services, others fill it with works, others do it well and buildfellowship together in this world. Our  today'sholy readings teach us about a form of giving which is always a big challengefor us to do. To give something good, either spiritual or material, to peoplewho are hostile and have done us wrong is our common difficulty. This is a kindof an extraordinary act of giving. The Lord Jesus Christ had done this, and Hewants us to do the same. Jesus says that those who do evil or those who areagainst us deserve to be loved, namely we give them what is precious from usthat is to pray for them. Everyone of us realizes that there are people who donot like us. They have their own reasons being hostile to us. And we know howseriously or not seriously they are against us. They may not realize theirright to be prayed for, but from our parts, we must realize our obligation topray for them. This is one of the important acts of giving taught by the LordJesus. Let'spray. In the name of the Father … O Father of Mercy, may we always beresponsible praying for those who are hostile and who are against us. Glory tothe Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit ...
