In the latest episode of Bring the Pain, Alex "The Messenger" Messenger returns to talk all sorts of topics. After doing our introduction podcast last time, we couldn't wait to talk hockey, especially since the trade deadline just passed in the NHL. We catch up for a little bit talking about Alex's recent recognition on Faces of Erie, and then we get right into Alex's thoughts on all of the trades. He talked about how the players could contribute to their new teams and if the fit was perfect. In the end, we smooth things out by talking about VGM and playing hockey video games with our friends. We both had a great time, and I'm thankful that I was able to feature Alex on my Hometown Series, which is meant to highlight different people in our community. Have a great day, everyone, and may the VGM be with you. Thank you for the support and contributions all of you make for my podcasts and articles each week. Y'all the real #Painbringers! Luckily, you have already seen the time stamp, so get ready because I'm ready to take you back, retro style. Have a great day, everyone, and may the retro be with you. In this episode of Bring the Pain, I loaded up some more VGM tracks in dedication to my brother Toms' passing. Since I have been getting myself back into musical episodes, I thought that starting the weekend off right was in order. It's no stranger that I'm still grieving from his loss on Monday, but the last thing we talked about was my recent episode in which I covered VGM for the 3DO. I told Tom that I had a surprise on there for him, but before I could ask him how he liked the episode, he was gone. I hope all of you enjoy this episode, and I apologize in advance for any moments I get choked up during the making of this podcast. Have a great day, everyone, and may the VGM be with you. RIP Tommy, I'll never forget the times we had big fella.
In the latest episode of Bring the Pain, I step back into the realm of VGM and cover one of my favorite systems, the Panasonic 3DO. Being so expensive when it first came out, the 3DO didn't last long after the Playstation came. Some games that came out on this system were trendsetting, while others left something to be desired. One thing the 3DO did right was give us CD quality sounding music that could take you mind on a rush through the hyperspace of VGM music. The tracks in this episode are all unique, and a couple of them have a remixed twist that will definitely appeal to your mind. Have a great day, everyone, and may the VGM be with you.Thank you for the support and contributions all of you make for my podcasts and articles each week. I'm back with another episode of #BringThePain and on this one I tackle the world of Nintendo music while growing up. This only includes the 8-Bit era of course but as I take you on this journey through my mind you will see why these songs and games meant a lot to me. Some games were about great times with family and friends to just me enjoying a good game. That has always held true to my gaming style because without meaning you have nothing.I will forewarn that auto ducking does get me a few times but I will be the first to admit that and own it. I haven't had stable internet in almost a month which has led to me being rusty and what not. Anyway I really hope that you love this episode and please Like, Follow and share so that we can show everyone that there is more than just playing a game. There is a whole world to explore which you will never get lost in and that is the world of video game music.Thank you for your support and stay tuned for so much more in the future.I own NO RIGHTS to any of the music used in this episode other than my theme song.
We're back with another episode! This time, we're talking with video game composer, Phonetic Hero. We talk to him about his work on Wargroove and its recent expansion, Double Trouble. We talked music, games, and generally shot the breeze. It was a good time, check it out!
This musicast has been a long time coming (Sorry listener Charlie Chang for making you wait so long). The Metroid series has some of the most praised soundtracks of any game out there. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal. Published by Ubisoft and Universal Studios. Art by: Paul Robertson, Stephane Boutin, Jonathan Lavigne, Justin Cyr, Jonathan Kim, and Mariel Cartwright. Music: Anamanaguchi. I didn't read the graphic novel, nor did I ever care to. As fun and interesting as it might be, I was more interested in the game for a couple of reasons. Anamanaguchi I heard was going to be doing the whole soundtrack to the game. They are an 8-bit chiptune punk rock band that I had once heard. I really enjoy their music so I was very excited about this. The other super attractive thing about this game is the main artist. His name is Robert Paulson... no I mean, his name is Paul Robertson. His work is familiar to me because of one really cool video. Here it is: Big thanks to Edward Fonseca for the recommendation. So I'm not cool enough to have played this game when it came out. I do plan to change that in the future because after hearing the music and talking about the story I'm very interested. Come and join us in celebrating 4th of July with Jets and the music from what is regarded as one of the best side scrolling shooters of all time, U.N. Squadron (Area 88 in Japan). The music comes from what I consider a golden age of Capcom games with memorable soundtracks that have stuck with an entire generation of gamers. U.N. Squadron may be lesser known but is just as good as they come. Enjoy! What you've never heard of it? Yeah I know. Well here's your chance to be cool once again, like you were after you snorted that pepper off of your desk in Jr. High. Yes that's right, after listening to this you'll command a new respect among your pears. Cho ren Sha 68k was a game that was made for the "Sharp 68K" gaming system that was only released in Japan. How would I know about this game at all you ask? Well they went through the trouble of porting it to windows! Here's your chance to be cool again. CLICK HERE to download the full game. Believe me you won't regret it. As you can see in the image above this is a classic space shooter, also called a "Shoot 'em up", or that other stupid phrase people like to us that I won't use. Back in 2009 my world was invaded by a black phantom. This black phantom was called Demon's Souls. A spiritual successor to King's Field which stood apart from all other games of it's kind. In part due to it's design, but mostly due to it's difficulty. Most people after playing this game seem to recall the old days of gaming; when you knew whatever you played was going to kick the crap out of you across the street. I even reviewed Demon's Souls back then. I gave it a Buttered Toast which is basically a 2/3. Since then I've returned to playing it and as I stated in the musicast I'm 4 play-throughs in. Anyway Please enjoy this weeks Musicast. Oh! Also visit preparetodie.com to pre-order Dark Souls which comes out October 4th. You can download it here, or subscribe to the new podcast feed in iTunes. » Download (MP3, 13.4MB) » Audio-only RSS feed (drag to iTunes) I started working on this last year but it quickly became too ambitious and stalled.
