Patrocinador Clinica Nativa https://clinicanativa.weebly.com

REAL LIFE Devon: We celebrated Nolan's Mario-themed birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's, and it was pure Mario madness—even down to LEGO sets! At home, we dove into the SNES Classic, revisiting classics like Super Mario World and Mario Kart. Speaking of Mario Kart, Ben has a lot of thoughts about kart racing games. Oh, and let's not forget Super Metroid made a cameo in our gaming nostalgia. Steven: Exciting news! We're now on YouTube! Check out The Science Faction Podcast for all our latest episodes and content. Also, Steven got his hands on the 5-disc Complete Collector's Edition of Blade Runner. Talk about sci-fi collector goals! Ben: Ben's been under the weather—boo! But that meant more movie time—yay! He's here to defend rewatching so-called "terrible" films like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. But hey, the Indiana Jones videogame nails the adventure vibe. Steven couldn't agree more—there's nothing better than punching Nazis! Also, fun fact: The Matrix reused sets from Dark City, which Roger Ebert loved so much he even recorded commentary tracks for it. And yes, both Ben and Devon admit to falling asleep during The Phantom Menace... in theaters. Oops! FUTURE OR NOW Ben: "The Buddhists Know How to Party" might sound like an odd statement, but Ben dives into the Five Remembrances of the Buddha, a reflection on aging, illness, and impermanence. It really got Devon thinking about Stoicism. Curious? You can read them here: I am of the nature to grow old. There is no way to escape growing old. I am of the nature to have ill-health. There is no way to escape having ill-health. I am of the nature to die. There is no way to escape death. All that is dear to me and everyone I love are of the nature to change. There is no way to escape being separated from them. My actions are my only true belongings. I cannot escape the consequences of my actions. My actions are the ground on which I stand. Steven: Steven brings up a serious topic: the insurance crisis in California. State Farm is pulling out of the state due to restrictions on raising rates, leaving them unable to cover major disasters like the LA fires. They currently have about $3 billion, but with an estimated $4 billion needed for payouts, this gap could lead to insolvency. Who's at fault—the state for blocking rate hikes or the companies for not adjusting sooner? Steven urges us not to "Luigi the wrong people" in this situation. BOOK CLUB This Week: We took a deep dive into Ursula K. Le Guin's "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas" from The Wind's Twelve Quarters. You can read it here. Ben found it "super fascinating," while Devon unpacked its core themes: a utopia sustained by the suffering of one child and the moral quandary of staying or walking away. Ben summed it up with, "The terror of not knowing keeps people away." Also, Devon joked that Omelas could just be Salem spelled backward—thanks, Oregon road signs! Devon also mused, "Ethics cannot be logically discerned." Next Week: Get ready for Philip K. Dick's "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" (1966). Here's a PDF. And no, Devon—you can't just watch Total Recall instead!

Update of the week: Andy brings up Call of Duty Black Ops, the franchise history, and the anticipation to their most recent release. Andy and the guys talk about the final presidential push prior to the official announcement of the winner and president elect. Daniel talks about playing the Metro series games and how he enjoyed Metro 2033 despite a notorious bug/glitch in the game that can render the game unbeatable for some players who encounter this. Daniel went to Wendy's and tried out their mixed fountain drink promotional offering. Daniel gives us the rundown on the Zodiac documentary which goes in depth of the killings, the suspects, and controversy surrounding the Zodiac Killer. Noel fills us in on watching the Avatar live action adaptation of the Nickelodeon cartoon Avatar The Last Air Bender. Noel finished the Metroid Game Boy Advance games and really enjoyed the experience after growing up playing Super Metroid on the Super Nintendo. Noel talks about his recent purchase of a stand-alone 4k Blu Ray Player. It is super crisp, and allows the colors to pop even more, especially with the upscaling capabilities on older films/tv. WE are going to be looking at the 3rd installment of games in a franchise that we think are better than the original game. So like how Super Mario Bros 3 is better than Super Mario Bros, or Super Metroid is better than Metroid on NES. This is our Top 10 list of Games that are better than the original @RussLyman and @NESADDICT will break down why they think they improved on and it stands out better than the original. At the end of the episode the boys do talk about games that they think the 1st is still better than the 3rd installment.
Logbook Archives returns this week to give a complete history and detailing of all of the various Gunships (or Starships, as they are also known) that Samus has piloted over the course of the franchise! We examine the history of the main ships - Super Metroid's, Zero Mission's, Fusion's, Prime 1 and Prime 3's - and talk about our favorite design aspects, who built them, what functions the are implied to have, and what our favorite and least favorite version of the ship is. We're also examining the spinoff appearances the ship has made, like in Super Smash Bros, Metroid Blast, Rocket League, and... Virtual Boy Galactic Pinball?? If you love the Gunship as much as we do, you won't want to miss this! All this, PLUS some thoughts on the PS5 Pro and Samus's Gunship showing up in the next Mario Kart game! Come hang out with us! We return for a week of relatively little news. A pair of Nintendo Directs happened, Annapurna and Remedy teamed up, and... CONCORD GOT SHUT DOWN AFTER TWO WEEKS! Matt regales us with tales of Saints Row 2, Mass Effect, and Super Metroid before I let you know Star Wars Outlaws is pretty mid and Astro Bot is incredible.
The Super Nintendo was released in 1991, and it cetianly had its fair share of amazing box art from Super Metroid, TMNT Turtles in Time, and Chrono Trigger just to name a few. @RussLyman and @NESADDICT break down their Top 10 Best Box art for the Super Nintendo in this weeks podcast. We also find out what you guys thought were the best art on the system by checking our Social Media pages. We hope you enjoy this Super Episode and it brings you back a bit to when looking at some of these amazing box arts for the first time.

How do you go about adding to a game that a sizable number of people would call one of the best ever made? Could you toss another few time periods into Chrono Trigger and still have the same game, just more of it? How about a new chunk of the Super Metroid map? Can a pinnacle of perfection like Balan Wonderworld really be improved? No Man's Sky certainly proved that it's possible to have a long (and improved) life beyond launch. We'll leave all these questions aside and focus, instead, on Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, the spicy new DLC expansion for FromSoftware's ultra-tough open-world blockbuster that taught the world there's no shame in dying over and over as long as you're having fun.

Show Notes On this week's podcast, Dan and Kris dive into what can only be described as the most unbelievably dull 10-20-30-40 in the show's history. That is, of course, until they get to the 30, where both the Super NES and Sega Genesis had some absolutely stellar months featuring the likes of Streets of Rage 3, King of Dragons, and Super Metroid. But just how bland were the rest of the decades? Did the Wii U actually have the best release of the month? Let's find out! At the top of the show, Dan had some adventures in water heating this week when his existing heater broke, and the joys of trying to fix/replace it commenced! Meanwhile, Kris started watching Fallout, finished his Dadish replays, and enjoyed the exploits of a turnip committing tax evasion. Finally, in Week Old News, Hallmark revealed their awesome new gaming-themed holiday ornaments, a variation of the Konami Code was discovered in everyone's least-favorite Castlevania game, Nintendo's latest Indie World showcase left Dan unimpressed and Kris delighted, and a whole lot more! Should I walk or run into playing super Metroid? Does it do anything better than the games that came after it? Or was it remarkable for being the first of the great Metroid games? Dan - RetroLogic — 04/07/2024 5:29 PM I play it for the first time ever a few years ago and it's undoubtedly one of my favorite games of all time now. BUT I didn't play it without some help. There are a few points in the game where what you need to do next is unintentionally opaque. I own the paper guide so I limited myself to that. But if you get stuck, just look it up. The game is amazing and 100% worth playing. MDJ Script/ Top Stories for Mar 5th Publish Date: Mar 4th Commercial: From the Ingles Studio, Welcome to the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast. Today is Tuesday, March 5th, and Happy heavenly Birthday to entertainer Andy Gibb. ***03.05.24 – BIRTHDAY – ANDY GIBB*** I'm Dan Radcliffe and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Credit Union of Georgia. GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting Near Six Flags Woman Arrested After Threatening Sheriff's Deputies in Standoff Members say Traffic Circle Threatens Marietta Church All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe! BREAK: CUofGA STORY 1: GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting Near Six Flags A 15-year-old is in critical condition following a shooting incident involving a Cobb police officer near Six Flags amusement park. The incident occurred amidst attempts to control a crowd of approximately 500-600 individuals who were reportedly involved in a brawl and causing havoc in the park. According to reports, shots were fired during the chaos, striking a police vehicle. This prompted officers to chase several individuals into a nearby wooded area. During the pursuit, an officer discharged his weapon, resulting in the teenager's injury. A handgun was subsequently discovered in the vicinity of the injured minor. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been tasked with conducting an independent investigation into the incident. The findings of this probe will be turned over to the Cobb County District Attorney's Office for review. Importantly, no officers were harmed during the altercation. STORY 2: Woman Arrested After Threatening Sheriff's Deputies in Standoff A woman, identified as Ebony Shari Singleton, has been arrested following a standoff with the Cobb County Sheriff's Office deputies at a residence in Mableton. The situation unfolded when deputies attempted to serve a restraining order at the property. Singleton, however, barricaded herself in an upstairs bedroom and threatened to shoot the deputies, claiming possession of a firearm. Despite several attempts to persuade Singleton to surrender peacefully, the decision was ultimately made to forcibly breach the door to her location. Singleton was apprehended and initially transported to a local hospital before being officially taken into custody. She is currently held on a $6,820 bond and will be evaluated by mental health professionals. Cobb County Sheriff Craig Owens has praised the officers involved for their handling of the incident, culminating in a successful and safe resolution. STORY 3: Traffic Circle Threatens Marietta Church, members say The New Hope United Methodist Church, a historical landmark in Marietta since 1856, is at risk due to the city's plan to construct a roundabout. The proposed traffic circle would encroach on the church's parking lot and necessitate modifications to its entrance. Members of the church express concern that the changes could disrupt their congregation and diminish the church's identity. From the city's perspective, the roundabout is seen as a solution to manage increasing traffic and enhance pedestrian safety, spurred by nearby development. However, church members are advocating for different solutions such as the installation of a traffic light or the use of adjacent parking lots. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info. We'll be right back. Break: HENRY CO SHERIFFS – DRAKE STORY 4: Circles Cobb Celebrates First Graduates of Poverty Reduction Program Circles Cobb is actively working to combat poverty in Cobb County through the application of the Circles USA model. This model provides crucial support to individuals working towards achieving financial stability. Recently, eight participants successfully completed an initial 12-week training program, designed to foster financial literacy and encourage goal-setting. As a result of their participation in the program, these graduates have undergone significant changes in their financial behaviors. They have transitioned to fixed spending habits and have placed a greater emphasis on saving. To ensure ongoing support, each graduate is paired with volunteer allies. The effectiveness of the program is underscored by its results; typically, participants across Circles chapters in North America see a 75% increase in income after 18 months. The recent graduates have already reported improvements in income and housing stability, offering a beacon of hope for their families. For more information, visit www.CirclesCobb.org. STORY 5: Cobb Development Authority OKs $4.25M Bonds for Tommy Nobis Center The Development Authority of Cobb County has given its approval for $4.25 million in tax-exempt bonds to facilitate the renovation of Tommy Nobis Center's new headquarters. The new location, at 240 Interstate North Parkway, was previously occupied by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. Nonprofit organizations like the Tommy Nobis Center can only issue tax-exempt bonds through conduit authorities, a mechanism that helps reduce borrowing costs. The issuance of these bonds also received approval from the Cobb Board of Commissioners. These bonds have a maturity period of five years. In other developments, the authority unanimously reelected its officers. Clark Hungerford will continue as chair, Donna Rowe as vice chair, Karen Hallacy as secretary treasurer, and Smith Peck as assistant secretary treasurer. We'll be back in a moment. Break: CURIOSITY LAB BIKE RACE STORY 6: Applications Now Open for Pigs & Peaches BBQ Competition and Vendors Kennesaw Parks & Recreation is inviting applications for the barbeque competition and vendors for the 2024 Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival. The festival will run from August 16th to 17th at Adams Park, featuring the Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned competition and recognized as a Southeast BBQ Championship event. The competition will host 30 teams in the pro category and 20 in the backyard category. Alongside, there will be contests for Anything Butt and Peach Desserts with over $16,000 in cash and prizes. Interested vendors or competitors can apply at www.pigsandpeaches.com. STORY 7: Pop Culture and Nerddom Gather in Marietta The second annual Marietta the Gathering celebrated pop culture and geekdom on Marietta Square. Attendees enjoyed activities like Super Smash Bros. gaming, classic Super Mario games, and the Box of Doom game. The event also featured pickup games of Magic: The Gathering and showcased local authors' books. Characters from various universes, including Star Wars, were present, many of whom were members of the Georgia Garrison of the 501st Legion, known for their charitable work. MomoCon hosted a tent with video game consoles, offering players a chance to enjoy games like Super Metroid, Super Mario World, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
