In this episode of Bring the Pain, I go back to my roots and highlight another video game system from my childhood. The Super Nintendo came out during a legendary time for my family, friends, and myself. From betting cash to marshmallow squares, my friend and I were definitely wilding, which gave us some of the best years of our lives. A lot of those years were also spent playing video games with my neither Tommy and my mom. So, for me, video games were always a way that my friends and I always found a way to connect with. I hope you enjoy this episode and all of it's Because this episode features a lot of VGM music, I'm going to keep my comments to a minimum so that you can relax while being taken on a journey to Planet painbringer. Have a great day, everyone, and may the VGM be with you.Thank you for the support and contributions all of you make for my podcasts and articles each week.

In this episode Greg and Joe look at one of the favorite games on the SNES -- Capcom's Super Ghouls and Ghosts! A totally different game then the arcade game Ghouls and Ghosts (which got ported to the Genesis), the game was designed from the ground up for the SNES. We discuss the gameplay, the very high difficulty level, and how it holds up today. Any questions, comments, etc can be left on our FB page or e-mailed to thesnespodcast@yahoo.com and as always thanks for your support! The SNES Podcast is part of the Geekade network! This week on Talking Back it's a spooky video game 2-pack with Ghost and Goblins from 1985, and Super Ghouls and Ghosts from from 1991! These are a couple of classic games known for incredible soundtracks and near impossible levels of difficulty. These games are likely responsible for the destruction of thousands of controllers, smashed in frustration by poor unsuspecting children and grownups alike! In an attempt to bring you the best possible content, we play through the two games risking both our sanity and controllers! We hope you enjoy our review of these games! On this episode of The Middle School Mind podcast, we talk about throwback SNES games that are available on Nintendo Switch Online. Son highlights his Top 5 SNES games available on the Nintendo Switch Online. Here's what we cover on this episode: How to access the SNES games through Nintendo Switch Online Son lists his Top 5 games he plays on the SNES 5. The Peace Keepers (1994) Beat ‘em up arcade game with sweet 80's music. Son likes to play as Al who looks like Rock and uses a Rocket Launcher 4. Super Mario World (1990) You can hatch and ride Yoshi in this game This game also has the super cape option that lets you fly 3. Super Punch Out (1994) No Mike Tyson Your first fight is again 1-99 Gabby Jay, a grandfatherly figure that no boxing organization should allow to fight professionally 2. Super Tennis (1991) It's fun to play this tennis game either with a friend or against the CPU We are not that great at this game and the graphics are a slight step up from the Original NES - I guess that's what makes it Super Tennis Before we list Son's top SNES game available on the Nintendo Switch Online, we have a few honorable (or dishonorable) mentions: Baseball Simulator 1.000 (1991): You have power up abilities for hitters and pitchers Natsume Championship Wrestling (1994) The game developers must have used a bad wrestling name generator to come up with these characters Demon's Crest (1994) This game is so intense and Son can't get past the first series. For 1994, this game has a great story and graphics. 1. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (1991) This is an old time Zelda game, not an open sandbox world like Zelda: Breath of the Wild Son has invested a lot of time playing this game Finally, Son has a final SNES game that will only frustrate you. Don't play this because it's crazy hard. Super Ghouls and Ghosts (1991) Eight super difficult levels. You will be frustrated at how hard this game is. Thank you to all of our listeners! In a future episode, we want to recognize the cities and towns where listeners are finding The Middle School Mind! No, we are not stalking you. We are just curious who is listening to our show and please reach out to us and leave a positive review and feedback! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/themiddleschoolmind/message
I thought I had played all the best games that the SNES had to offer. Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts never jumped out at me as a must-play title. But I finally got around to playing it last year, and realized the error of my ways. Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts IS a must-play title, and it's absolutely one of the best games on the SNES. Consider my stance corrected. This game is tough as fuck, but it rarely feels unfair. Practice pays off, and it clearly subscribes to the old school logic of "get good" or die trying. And you will die. A lot. I'm not ashamed to admit that I can't quite beat this game, but as you'll hear on this week's show, it doesn't stop me from loving it anyway. The SNES isa till the gold standard for retro gaming in my eye(s), and Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts is a prime example of why. My buddy Tyler returns to the show this week. He didn't play much of the SNES version of the game, but he sunk a ton of time into Ghouls 'N Ghosts in the arcade. So we're kinda going over both games this week and talking about how they're very hard not to love, despite the fact that it doesn't really feel like they love you back. And of course, before we talk about fighting ghouls in your underwear, I run through another edition of the 'Remember The Game? Infamous Intro'! This week, we talk about resellers, and whether or not they're as bad as society thinks they are. If you're new to the Xbox universe, is the Series S and GamePass all you need? And would you rather EVERY game in the future be open-world, or none of them? PLUS, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring three Capcom SNES games - Final Fight 2, X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, and Demon's Crest. Are you on social media? Of course you are. So follow us! It's Spooky Season, so we jump on the band wagon to celebrate the season with our first of several holiday-themed episodes. This episode we talk about the first horror movies we watched, but also relive our favorite Halloween movies, shows, and specials. There's a lot of scary out there, so we try our best to cover the most memorable ones. But we get distracted by movies made into TV shows, the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, Aang vs. Zaheer, and Spider-man deep fakes. No Pumpkin Spice Lattes here, only Super Ghouls & Ghosts.

Zombies Ate My Neighbours has been one of the most requested games for us to cover on the show over the last couple years. I never played it back in my youth, and honestly, I kinda wrote it off. I thought it looked generic. One of those games that ended up selling for $19.99 after the console generation was coming to an end. But then I played it. This game kicks ass. It's tough, but fair(ish). The combination of 'easy to learn, tough to master' mechanics and randomly generated item drops keeps you coming back for one more game, and every time you get past the level that beat you on your last attempt, you feel rejuvenated and want to keep going. I like Zombies Ate My Neighbours now. My guest, the incomperable Thaddeus Archer the Third, has always been a fan. We finally put our heads together and had a nice chat about saving BBQ'ing weirdos and cheerleaders from demon baby dolls, and you can listen it on it this week. And of course, before we talk Zombies, it's the Remember The Game Infamous Intro! This week, we look at the best retro gaming soundtracks, and retro series we'd like to see continued (a discussion sparked by Streets of Rage 4). We also look at the possibility of Nintendo 64 games coming to Switch, and if they do, whether or not we'd like to see Nintendo release N64 controllers for the Switch like they did with NES and SNES controllers. Plus, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One'. This time, it's the 'retro halloween-y games' edition, featuring Zombies Ate my Neighbours, Splatterhouse 2, and Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts! If you want to skip to something specific, here's where to go: 0:00 - Intro 2:50 - Initial self-indulgent rambling & 'Expansion Pass #46: Play One/Remake One/Erase One - Hot Dog Edition' Clip 10:40 - 'Blowing In The Cartridge' (Listener comments & questions) 23:50 - 'Play One. Remake One. Erase One.' 32:30 - What have I been playing? 34:45 - Listener's 'Zombies Ate my Neighbours' Memories 37:20 + Zombie Talk! Enjoy the podcast!

This week we kick off the spookiest month with #RetroGrave! For our first game we run all the way back to 1991 with a look back at Capcom's Super Ghouls N Ghosts! Can we crack the armour of this notoriously difficult side scroller, or is it too frustrating to hold up in the modern day? We also make time to talk about Raised by Wolves, What We Do in the Shadows, and we debate how a game can walk the line between being a satisfying challenge, and an unfair frustration. On today's show, Marc talks about a good chunk of the news announced during Nintendo's latest Direct, including the addition of twenty Super Nintendo games to their Nintendo Switch Online service. In addition to that, expect some Little Town Hero, Animal Crossing, and Kirby nonsense, as well as a bit more about the latest Apex Legends event. Anyway, something-something brawly and kicking fools until their balls bleed, cheers and enjoy the anime-zing(ly overlay-free) show. The Talking Points: Nintendo Direct, SNES Games on Switch, Brawl Brothers, Super Kirby Clash, Little Town Hero, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist, Apex Legends
On today's show, Marc talks about the first two We Happy Few DLC packs—"They Came from Below" and "Lightbearer"—as well as some Attack the Backlog nonsense and why The Exchange is a horrible store for anyone looking to add to their retro game collection. Anyway, something-something repetitive and making me want a sedative, cheers and enjoy the anime-zing(ly what's a PlayStation TV?) show. The Talking Points: We Happy Few DLC - "Lightbearer" and "They Came from Below," The Exchange, Ninja Five-O, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, D23
In this episode, SteampunkLink and Emmy Zero have to endure what are easily the worst group of four games they've had to review so far. First they get a little controversial with their declaration that Capcom classic Super Ghouls N' Ghosts is a bad game. Then it's off to the races with RPM Racing; a game with noble technical ambitions that ultimately turned into an astoundingly bad final product. The second half of the group are a pair of decent sports games with Super Tennis and True Golf Classics: Waialae Country Club. You know things aren't great when the sports games are highlight for these two.

Is Super Ghouls N Ghosts trolling gamers? Was its fiendish difficulty created soley to amuse the sadistic, overworked, Capcom programmers? Does anyone like this game? Whatever the reason, Super Ghouls N Ghosts is infamous for it's masocistic levels, dickish enemies, and boxer briefs. Is there a more shameful death in videogames than biting the dust while prancing around in your skivvies? Probably not. Super Ghouls N Ghosts, frankly, doesn't care. It wants you to die. Over and over again. Tune in as Josh and Mike tackle this popular relic from the 90s. It's time for another episode of DRACULA'S ARCADE! JOIN US!
The Makaimura/Ghosts ’N Goblins series makes its debut on a third Nintendo console, and yeah, it's every bit as harsh as you'd expect. But is the beauty of the game's visuals and the intense satisfaction of finally reaching the next checkpoint enough to make it worth the suffering?

Thema: Retro-Konsolenspecial: Super Nintendo Entertainment System Erwähnte Spiele: Super Mario World, F-Zero, Pilotwings, Sim City, Gradius III, Final Fight, Super Soccer, Super Tennis, Super R-Type, Super Mario All-Stars, Donkey Kong Country-Reihe, Super Mario Kart, Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, Contra III, Starfox I & II, Super Mario World 2: Yoshis Island, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the seven Stars, Mega Man X-Serie, Breath of Fire I & II, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, Illusion of Time, Lufia-Reihe, Mystic Quest Legends, Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu II + III), Secret of Evermore, Terranigma, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IV - VI, Mother Earthbound II, Ogre Battle, Shadowrun, The 7th Saga, Ultima 6, Dragon Quest V, VI, III Remake, Fire Emblem, Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia, Mario Paint, Bomberman, Actraiser, Flashback, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Kirby Super Star, Kirby's Dream Course, Street Fighter 2 Turbo: Hyper Fighting, Super Castlevania IV, Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, Super Metroid, Super Punch Out!! On Christmas Day 1991 my focus was on Super Mario World, but my parents also got me Super Ghouls N Ghosts. I love this game and am so impressed with how well it has held up over the years. The background music during the Tweets & Emails segment is from Earthbound. NOTE: Whoops, around the 3:50 mark I meant to say Ghosts N Goblins, not Ghouls N Ghosts. We are also on iTunes, Google Play, and Stitcher. You can also download episodes from the Internet Archive. Please consider becoming a Patron of the podcast.
Here is a preview of our episode about Super Ghouls N Ghosts. The full episode will be out September 19th.

I det sista avsnittet innan sommaruppehållet snackar vi om Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System som släpps nu i september. Vi går närmare bestämt igenom Contra III: The Alien Wars, Donkey Kong Country, Earthbound, Final Fantasy III (eller tja, VI då), F-Zero, Kirby Super Star, Kirby's Dream Course, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Mega Man X, Secret of Mana, Star Fox, Star Fox 2, Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting, Super Castlevania IV, Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Super Punch-Out och Yoshi's Island för att försöka avgöra vilka spel som platsar (och inte platsar) i minikonsolens utbud.
03:21:19 - Afsluiting Muziek: - Dragon Quest VII (PS1) intro - Pocket Card Jockey (3DS) - Super Ghouls n Ghosts (SNES) - Sen no Kiseki 2 (Vita) - Pinball VS (NES) outtro

Whether it's our longest show since the first one or actual Listener Mail, the apocalypse is nigh Radio Free Nintendo might've taken the weekend off, but that just means you can listen to NFR if your ears stopped ringing from the fireworks (North America only). First off is New Business, and make no bones about it - this one is Xbone-sized. We've got: Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, The Last of Us, Remember Me, Metroid Other M, Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Thomas Was Alone, Runner 2, New Super Luigi U and KERSPLOOSH! It's so many games we had to forego the puns to keep the show post under a page! After Now Posted makes you question your own sanity, Whatcha Watchin goes even farther down the rabbit hole with Stephen's menagerie of Continuum, Scooby Doo Mystery Inc., the Penny Arcade Strip Search (not what you're thinking)… and Equestria Girls (it might be what your thinking). Donald, a known fan of monsters, steps up to Monster and ponders its Del Toro-fueled fate, while Austen beams into Star Trek Into (or is it into? Wikipedia's not clear) Darkness and a whole mess of animated BluRays. In a very special Double Feature, the crew is forced to confront what brought them together while pondering the listener question of "Why do you play Nintendo games"? After that, E3 is tackled one more time a few weeks out, as they look back at the Xbone's 180 and wonder if gamers have an advocate anymore. A fresh crop of Mushrooms ends the marathon with more Bethesda trouble (Donald's article is here: http://ca.ign.com/articles/2013/06/05/what-went-wrong-with-human-heads-prey-2?abthid=51af79d92aabedda5500000c), Stephen's musical talent, and an ice cold NBA Draft. Steps will be taken to ensure shorter shows - but if you'd like to combat those plans, why not drop us an email? Send it to nintendofreeradio@gmail.com - and until next time, watch out for that mutagen! This podcast was edited by Austen Parkin, Donald Theriault and Stephen Shook.
