Are you looking for ways to engage your digital audience? Are you seeking out ways to know your fan base better? What about finding ways to market to those fans (and turning them into consumers)? Sometimes, it just feels overwhelming, as though you're trying to boil water in the entire ocean. Joining us in the studio today is Darshan Kaler, who is the founder and CEO of fan engagement for the technology company Tradable Bits, based in Vancouver, Canada. Also joining Darshan is Shaun Verreault, who heads up Tradable Bits' business development (and is lead vocalist and guitarist for the blues-based rock band “Wide Mouth Mason”). Darshan and Shaun discuss such topics as the new data revolution in live music, who's using data tech and how, and where the growth opportunities are in this ever evolving music business. www.tradablebits.com Creator and Executive Producer Emeritus: Tom Sabella Showrunner and Host (the guy who has a face for podcasting): Bob Bender Management Representation: Chuck Thompson for Thompson Entertainment Group, LLC Co-Producer - Audio/Video Editor (the man behind the curtain): Mark Sabella Director of Video and Continuity (the brains of the entire operation): Deborah Halle Marketing and Social Media (all knowing): Sarah Fleshner for 362 Entertainment All Around Problem Solver (and Mental Health Therapist for us): Connie Ribas Recorded inside what could be an old beat up Airstream Trailer located somewhere on what's left of Music Row in Nashville TN (Man we sure do miss Noshville, and the Longhorn Steakhouse) Mixed and Mastered at Music Dog Studios in Nashville, TN Editing and Post at Midnight Express Studio located in Olian, NY Production Sound Design: Keith Stark Voice Over and Promo: Lisa Fuson Special Thanks to the creator and founder of the podcast, Tom Sabella, along with Traci Snow for producing and hosting over 100 episodes of the original "Business Side of Music" podcast and trusting us to carry on their legacy. We talked the formation of The Steadies and how the band came about, the struggles of going from an established band to starting fresh as well as a jamming with an emerging actor in Vancouver and how that helped the band. EX39 - Wide Mouth Mason - not your typical, run of the mill 12-bar blues band - two songs - Midnight Rain and Companion - Lay Me Down When one thinks of the epitome of a ‘blues band', the first thing that comes to mind is not a couple of Canadian kids coming of age in the 1980s. This is not your typical, run of the mill 12-bar blues about lost lovers, big-legged women, whiskey, church and sinnin'. This is a new voice and a new vehicle for the blues. This is Wide Mouth Mason. Wide Mouth Mason formed in 1995 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and released their debut album, The Nazarene, in 1996, drawing immediate interest and attention from the Canadian music industry. It was re-recorded songs from that debut, as well as some new songs on their 1997 self-titled sophomore recording that cemented a major label record deal, Gold status in Canada, a JUNO nomination for Best New Group, and launched the career of one of the country's most popular blues-based rock bands. And the hits kept coming… In the years to follow, Wide Mouth Mason had another Gold record with 1999's Where I Started, and another JUNO nomination for Best Rock Album for their Y2K release Stew, two invitations to perform at the esteemed Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland as well as extensive tours with AC/DC, ZZ Top and The Rolling Stones. Not too shabby for a couple of Canadian kids on the Prairies. Fast forward to 2019, where we find Wide Mouth Mason as a duo with original members Shaun Verreault on vocals, guitars, and Safwan Javed on percussions and vocals. Their 8th release, I Wanna Go With You, was released on indie label We Are Busy Bodies on October 25, 2019. It is Wide Mouth Mason reinvented and unapologetically blues. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays All From  1974 to 1979 I was lucky enough to host Great Canadian Goldrush on CBC Radio  National. Every Christmas we had a Christmas Jam – in the studio. Produced by Susan Englebert. (with assistance from Claire Lawrence) Except for the mixed drinks, it was nothing fancy but it was an hour of heart-felt stories and songs. The artists included Roy Forbes and Shari Ulrich. When Goldrush left the air Christmas Jam disappeared UNTIL Roundhouse Radio in Vancouver came on air and again I had a studio to capture this magic. I talked to Shari, Roy, and Barney Bentall and they all signed on for a reconnect. We got 3 years of Christmas in the Round recorded and then Roundhouse went dark.   Keeping the tradition alive, this year we present Year 3 of Christmas in the Round  (2017)   The Lineup includes   Jim Byrnes Shari Ulrich Barney Bentall Bill Henderson (Chilliwack) Craig Northey   (Odds and Steven Page Trio) On percussion Geoff Hicks (Colin James, Barney, Cuddy, Byrnes, Northey etc) Rob Becker (guitar/vocals) Kirby Barber (guitar/vocals)   Roy Forbes was unavailable in Year 3 BUT I found him hiding in Year One He brings with him two songs and the slide guitar of Shaun Verreault from Wide Mouth Mason. And yes..he does tell the story and rolls out his Christmas Classic Mince Meat Tart
