What happens when traditional counseling meets energy medicine? Katie Kitzing's a Mental Health Therapist, Substance Use Disorder Counselor & emotion/ body code practitioner's transformative journey from drug and alcohol counselor to Certified Emotion and Body Code practitioner reveals the fascinating intersection where trapped emotions manifest as physical symptoms—and how releasing these emotional imprints can lead to profound healing.Katie shares her personal awakening moment when she discovered her body intuitively knew what was wrong and what it needed to heal. This revelation led her to explore how our bodies store emotional experiences like "big rocks" weighing us down, creating what we commonly call "emotional baggage." Through muscle testing techniques that communicate directly with the body's innate wisdom, Katie accesses information below the conscious level, bringing awareness to patterns that have remained hidden yet influential. The conversation ventures into remarkable territory when exploring generational trauma—emotional imprints passed down through DNA that can affect everything from our relationship with money to chronic pain patterns. A feeling of unworthiness or scarcity might trace back to an ancestor's experience rather than your own lifetime. Through energy healing, these generational patterns can be identified and released, freeing you from limitations you never consciously created. Most compelling are the clinical applications: digestive issues linked to emotional associations with food, hip pain connected to family relationships, TMJ disorders related to kidney energy. These patterns demonstrate why conventional treatments often bring only partial relief—they're missing the emotional component that maintains the physical condition. By addressing both nutritional and emotional roots simultaneously, Katie's approach helps clients achieve breakthroughs where other methods have fallen short.Curious about exploring the emotional roots of your health challenges? Katie works remotely, making this healing work accessible regardless of location. The body-mind connection isn't just metaphorical—it's the frontier where true healing begins.Ready to connect with Katie? Back in the 1940's, 50', and into the 1960's, the recording studio was rather a simple affair. Typically one or a few mics would be used to record an artist or a band, with all of the members in the studio at the same time. Then in the 1970's, the recording studio changed, and became a structured environment, where each member could be isolated, with a selection of microphones recorded onto multiple tracks. Things have changed since then, and the viability of the recording studio, and its status has changed dramatically. On the show today is Steve Creech, who is an industry recognized mastering engineer and record producer. He shares his insight with records to the future of the studio, and the up and coming engineer. He shares with us his experience with the difference of perception versus perspective when it comes to the recording studio and its environment. In this episode, we talk about the Enneagram, which you've likely heard about since it's all the rage right now! Our guest and resident expert is Kristi Rowles, a Mental Health Therapist turned full-time Enneagram Coach. In the Enneagram world, she is known for teaching it in a way that is easy to understand, practical, fun, and driven toward compassion. In her work coaching individuals and couples, speaking, and leading corporate leadership training, people often ask her, “How do I get certified to do what you do?” So in 2018, she built Enneagram University, where they are committed to transforming Enneagram-and-people-loving humans into the most competent and confident enneagram coaches on the market. The Enneagram is an opportunity to get to know yourself better – to understand your motivations and preferences, give you insights into your behavior and choices, and help to identify paths for growth and development. And because, as women, we have a tendency to be others-focused, I'm going to encourage you to start with and stay with you for a while. Use it for self-reflection. Create deeper levels of understanding and intimacy with yourself. Do the internal work. When it comes to such simple things as communication, networking, and even relationships, there are three basic skills you need to remember. You need to build upon the relationship. You also need to maintain them, and work towards them growing. Joining us in the studio is music industry veteran Lyn Stevens who is an award winning photographer, who combines her love of photography with her passion for music. From that, she has learned the ability to network among industry peers, and shares her insight with our listeners. While on the subject, we also discuss documenting your career with photography, and how important it is in the bigger picture. Since her days as a producer at WIBA-FM and Morning DJ & Country Music Director WDUX in Wisconsin, Lyn has always had the bug to work in the music industry. Working in radio provided Lyn the opportunity to meet and interview legendary performers such as Merle Haggard, Ray Price, Charlie Daniels, Loretta Lynn, and The Kentucky Headhunters among many others. After moving to Nashville in 2009, her photography "hobby" started catching the eye of local performers. In 2012, the door was opened as Lyn was honored to have 3 of her photos on display as part of the Cameras and Community in Action Project at The Frist Center for The Visual Arts. Her work went on to be featured in Country Weekly, Billboard Magazine and the Nashville Music Guide. In late 2014, she was asked by country legends, Little Texas, to shoot the photos for their album, "Young for A Long Time," which garnered her the award for "Best Visual Art" at the 2015 Nashville Independent Music Awards. She added the title, “International Photographer” to her resume, after documenting a Blues/Rock tour to Australia in 2016 and another tour to Iceland in 2018. Her work has since been seen on television in Australia and in newspapers and magazines throughout Europe. She approaches photography as a documentarian, based off the strong belief that she is documenting future history, in the present-day moment. It is a significant milestone for the Charlie Daniels Patriot Awards Dinner, which will be held on September 11, 2024, at City Winery Nashville. The awards dinner is a program of The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project, a 501c3 that supports military veterans, first responders and their families. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the program, co-founded by Country Music legend, Charlie Daniels with his longtime manager, David Corlew. Although Daniels passed in 2020, his musical legacy lives on, and his devotion to veterans causes continues through the dedication of Corlew. Through fundraising events, the organization supports the efforts of other not-for-profit organizations providing services to U.S. veterans and first responders; selected for providing the most meaningful work with the lowest overhead. TCHJHP has raised more than $4 million for these organizations. Corlew shares his story of how he got into the business, first working at a record store, then becoming a roadie for Charlie Daniels, before becoming his manager for the next 30+ years of Charlie's career. www.thecharliedanielsjourneyhomeproject.org Creator and Executive Producer Emeritus: Tom Sabella Showrunner and Host (the guy who has a face for podcasting): Bob Bender Management Representation: Chuck Thompson for Thompson Entertainment Group, LLC Co-Producer - Audio/Video Editor (the man behind the curtain): Mark Sabella Director of Video and Continuity (the brains of the entire operation): Deborah Halle Marketing and Social Media (all knowing): Sarah Fleshner for 362 Entertainment All Around Problem Solver (and Mental Health Therapist for us): Connie Ribas Recorded inside what could be an old beat up Airstream Trailer located somewhere on what's left of Music Row in Nashville TN (Man we sure do miss Noshville, and the Longhorn Steakhouse) Mixed and Mastered at Music Dog Studios in Nashville, TN Editing and Post at Midnight Express Studio located in Olian, NY Production Sound Design: Keith Stark Voice Over and Promo: Lisa Fuson Special Thanks to the creator and founder of the podcast, Tom Sabella, along with Traci Snow for producing and hosting over 100 episodes of the original "Business Side of Music" podcast and trusting us to carry on their legacy. On this special episode of "Between The Notes" edition here on The Business Side of Music, show contributor Jack Sharkey and host Bob Bender go on a rant, discussing the value of the larger venue concert, and why some acts are having a difficult time selling out these days. Are they (the artist) still viable? Is the cost (and the unpredictable weather when its outdoors) worth going to stand around with hopefully thousands of your closest friends in a partially filled event? Jack and Bob delve into why some acts should no longer find themselves anticipating performing at large venues, when its difficult to put butts in the seats, and the scaling back to smaller venues such as auditoriums or theaters (or clubs) might make more financial sense.... in spite of their egos. The audience is in their seats. The lights dim, and the artist takes the stage. For the next 90 minutes or more, the show goes on without a hitch. But in order to get there, production for the show began to take shape, weeks, if not months earlier. But how does this happen, and who's in charge? Enter the Production Manager. This individual is in charge of everything from ensuring that the stage, sound, and lights are set up properly for the concert, to the numerous emails and phone calls to guarantee that there are no problems (or mistakes). In many ways, managing a tour is similar to running a business. There are employees and budgets to look after. The workload and responsibilities are extraordinary. And the demands can be overwhelming. Without efficient work practices in place, the stress and lack of sleep make it impossible to thrive in the world of tour and production management. Production Manager and author of the book “The Efficient Hustle”, Lucas Meek shares stories from the road, explaining the inner workings of the touring business, what it takes to be a successful Production or Tour Manager, and everything needed to ensure that the show goes on without a hitch. www.theefficienthustle.com Creator and Executive Producer Emeritus: Tom Sabella Showrunner and Host (the guy who has a face for podcasting): Bob Bender Management Representation: Chuck Thompson for Thompson Entertainment Group, LLC Co-Producer - Audio/Video Editor (the man behind the curtain): Mark Sabella Director of Video and Continuity (the brains of the entire operation): Deborah Halle Marketing and Social Media (all knowing): Sarah Fleshner for 362 Entertainment All Around Problem Solver (and Mental Health Therapist for us): Connie Ribas Recorded inside what could be an old beat up Airstream Trailer located somewhere on what's left of Music Row in Nashville TN (Man we sure do miss Noshville, and the Longhorn Steakhouse) Mixed and Mastered at Music Dog Studios in Nashville, TN Editing and Post at Midnight Express Studio located in Olian, NY Production Sound Design: Keith Stark Voice Over and Promo: Lisa Fuson Special Thanks to the creator and founder of the podcast, Tom Sabella, along with Traci Snow for producing and hosting over 100 episodes of the original "Business Side of Music" podcast and trusting us to carry on their legacy. Upwards of 200,000 songs or more are uploaded daily to many digital providing streaming services. It becomes a crowded field rather quickly, and in many instances, your music can get lost in all of what is often called “white noise”. As streaming catalogs continue to grow in size and depth of music, DSP's (digital service providers) are beginning to remove music that has had zero impact on listeners. In another words, they want music that will resonate with their audience. As we continue our annual “Music Biz 2024” Conference Series, in the studio with us today is Gitte Bendzulla, who is the C.O.O. of the music platform, Deezer. Deezer is a French founded, French headquartered digital streaming service providing music for the European, African, and South American markets. France (especially Paris) is considered the entrance to the European music market, and Deezer is at the head of the streaming services providing an opening for new music for the rest of Europe, and beyond. With so many artists selling off their catalogs these days, is there even room for the independent artist that may have a substantial collection of songs to be a part of this new trend? Is that catalog worth money? How does one go about finding out what its "retail" value might be? As a songwriter, it's never been more important to track your songs, and receive payment for your efforts, as it is now. But where do you start, and where do you go to find where the royalty payments may be waiting for you? It's not always up to the PRO's (Performing Rights Organizations) to find your money and hand it out to you. In simple terms, you need to be paid for what you create. It can be challenging, and require some hard work, but it is worth it if you know how to navigate the various outlets that are available. There are at least 13 royalty payment portals that many songwriters don't know about. Such entities as “The Music License Collective” are out there, but if you as the creator of the song don't know about them, and have the ability to access them, you're missing out on collecting your money. Nancy Deckant, who is the founder and CEO of Discover Sooner, along with being the co-author of the book “The Songwriters Guide” shares some insight and direction on where you can go to ensure you're getting all the money you earned… and deserve. www.nashvillecool.com www.musicreports.com www.themlc.com www.musicreports.com www.discoversooner.com Creator and Executive Producer Emeritus: Tom Sabella Showrunner and Host (the guy who has a face for podcasting): Bob Bender Management Representation: Chuck Thompson for Thompson Entertainment Group, LLC Co-Producer - Audio/Video Editor (the man behind the curtain): Mark Sabella Director of Video and Continuity (the brains of the entire operation): Deborah Halle Marketing and Social Media (all knowing): Sarah Fleshner for 362 Entertainment All Around Problem Solver (and Mental Health Therapist for us): Connie Ribas Recorded inside what could be an old beat up Airstream Trailer located somewhere on what's left of Music Row in Nashville TN (Man we sure do miss Noshville, and the Longhorn Steakhouse) Mixed and Mastered at Music Dog Studios in Nashville, TN Editing and Post at Midnight Express Studio located in Olian, NY Production Sound Design: Keith Stark Voice Over and Promo: Lisa Fuson Special Thanks to the creator and founder of the podcast, Tom Sabella, along with Traci Snow for producing and hosting over 100 episodes of the original "Business Side of Music" podcast and trusting us to carry on their legacy. Music. Data. Rights. They're all connected in one form or another, but it can be confusing at times, especially with technology outpacing the music industry. Unless you work for a major corporation within the music industry, and are blessed to have a great benefits package, you must fend for yourself in order to provide the tools needed to get by in life: health insurance, retirement plans, and the general skills to run your own business. Make no mistake about it, if you are a freelance technician in the touring business – you ARE your own business. This is where the vision of the Touring Career Workshop comes to life: a simple workshop where a lot of the success tools needed are presented by experts in each of their respective fields. One of the resources that Touring Career Workshop provides is dealing with mental health. Their “All Access Online” program provides mental health counseling with a designated counselor either online, or out on the road depending on the conditions, giving a chance for touring professionals to discuss their difficult moments and work through those challenges that arise, whether it be time away from home on the road, or those day to day life situations that sometimes pop up. Executive Director Chris Lisle, along with special guest co-host Sharon Lee who is the CEO of High Road Trucking, join us in the studio to explain how these, and other services and opportunities are available to those who work in the music touring industry. The Touring Career Workshop is a free annual event created by industry veterans Chris Lisle and Erik Parker, designed to serve and educate their colleagues in the touring music industry. The inaugural TCW was held in November 2011 at Belmont University, and was attended by over fifty industry professionals. In the past several years well hundreds of touring industry people have attended their events. TCW is an official IRS 501c3 non profit. www.touringcareerworkshop.com Creator and Executive Producer Emeritus: Tom Sabella Showrunner and Host (the guy who has a face for podcasting): Bob Bender Management Representation: Chuck Thompson for Thompson Entertainment Group, LLC Co-Producer - Audio/Video Editor (the man behind the curtain): Mark Sabella Director of Video and Continuity (the brains of the entire operation): Deborah Halle Marketing and Social Media (all knowing): Sarah Fleshner for 362 Entertainment All Around Problem Solver (and Mental Health Therapist for us): Connie Ribas Recorded inside what could be an old beat up Airstream Trailer located somewhere on what's left of Music Row in Nashville TN (Man we sure do miss Noshville, and the Longhorn Steakhouse) Mixed and Mastered at Music Dog Studios in Nashville, TN Editing and Post at Midnight Express Studio located in Olian, NY Production Sound Design: Keith Stark Voice Over and Promo: Lisa Fuson Special Thanks to the creator and founder of the podcast, Tom Sabella, along with Traci Snow for producing and hosting over 100 episodes of the original "Business Side of Music" podcast and trusting us to carry on their legacy. Travis McBride, a 46-year-old therapist specializing in anger management and the owner of Starting Point Mental Health in DeLand, Florida, has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder. McBride stands accused of fatally shooting 52-year-old Clinton Dorsey as part of an ongoing dispute, with police discovering Dorsey's body stuffed in the trunk of McBride's car. The incident unfolded when police responded to a "suspicious" call on South Frankfort Avenue on Thursday morning. Eyewitnesses reported seeing McBride dragging the victim's body across the road, placing it in his car, and later returning to clean the crime scene. DeLand police discovered shell casings and blood at the scene, leading them to the grim discovery of Dorsey's bullet-riddled body inside McBride's red Nissan Versa. Police were alerted to the slaying on Thursday morning through multiple 911 calls, as detailed in McBride's arrest affidavit. An unidentified caller reported to a 911 dispatcher that a murder had occurred, describing a person "looking in the road cleaning up the blood off the ground and searching for shells." According to the document, the caller identified the alleged killer as "Travis" and revealed the victim's name as "Clint." The caller stated that the perpetrator had dragged the body across the road, placed it in his car, and then left the scene. Another 911 caller, in a separate account, mentioned that the suspect was standing in front of a DeLand address. When pressed for clarity by the 911 dispatcher, the caller began whispering and disclosed that "a murder was committed last night." DeLand is approximately 40 miles north of downtown Orlando. Upon locating McBride, police observed a scratch on his arm and a red mark. McBride claimed these injuries were caused by his dogs, as stated in the document. Simultaneously, another officer spoke with the second 911 caller, who expressed fear of McBride. According to Police Chief Jason Umberger, there was an apparent ongoing dispute between McBride and Dorsey, although the nature of their relationship remains unclear. Witnesses reported McBride's prior threats against Dorsey, with one neighbor recalling a visit where McBride expressed his intent to kill the victim over a dispute involving glass in a jar allegedly meant for his dogs. McBride, despite his profession as an anger management specialist, has a history of legal troubles. His extensive rap sheet includes arrests in 1995 and 1996 for felony aggravated battery, as well as a 2017 arrest for domestic battery by strangulation. Despite these incidents, McBride completed deferred prosecution agreements in some cases. The suspect attended the University of Central Florida, earning degrees in psychology in 2005 and clinical psychology in 2007. McBride previously owned Central Florida Mental Health before establishing Starting Point Mental Health in 2009, emphasizing a commitment to building trusting relationships with clients and addressing a variety of mental health concerns. Travis McBride appeared in court on Friday and did not enter a plea. He is currently held without bond at the Volusia County jail, facing charges of first-degree premeditated murder.
